Just my way of saying thank you for giving my books a try.
3 1/2 stars, this is the last book from his series. With a spin off coming. I liked this one and I liked how it ended but would have loved a more solid ending, and a little more of a ending with our hero and heroine. This was a nice series it was just the type of book I wanted right now.
So, we all know Okil is the best of all the aliens and that his story would be a good one. And it was. It had action and intrigue and mystery. It was not just a bully love story like the last book. This book had more. Even more mating pairs! I liked him. I liked her. I liked the kid.
One thing I did not like… this book flat out states all females must be virgins. But… I didn’t get the sense Elissa from book one was a virgin. Feel like this detail kinda… got created in a later book! And I also think it is dumb. What are the odds all these chicks from this friend group are all virgins!?
Anyway… no need to recommend this book. If you read books 1-4, you already know u are going to read it! And if you have not read them yet… don’t start with book 5 silly!
Virgin rating: Innocence of virgin hero: 3/5 Innocence in losing it: 1/5 Build up to losing it: 4/5 Hotness of losing it: 2.5/5 Busted touching himself: no POV of losing it: female
COMPLETELY CAPTIVATING, TOTALLY COMPELLING AND DIVINELY ENTERTAINING !!! Title: Devotion Series: Chosen by the Karal Designation: Book Five, BBW Alien Romance Author: Harmony Raines Reading Platform: Kindle Unlimited My Rating: FIVE DELIGHTFULLY ENTERTAINING STARS ***** Wow! Harmony Raines has strutted her stuff and once again surprised us all with a foray into the wonderful world of science fiction and what a delightfully entertaining treat it is! Devotion is the fifth release in her riveting new series, Chosen by the Karal and it totally rocks, people! Raines has outdone herself - again! I admit, I've been really looking forward to the release of this story, probably more so than any of the others because Okil has been my favorite character since the very first book of the series and it was definitely worth the wait! Harmony Raines nailed it! It is, without a doubt, the most emotionally charged and heart-wrenching story to date. When I wasn't sobbing my eyes out, I was waving my fists and seething with anger. It was utterly perfect! I have loved each and every book of this series so it's difficult to pick a favorite but this story really captured my heart and tugged at my heartstrings. By the end of the book, I was blubbering like a big baby. So be forewarned, have your box of tissue at the ready! Each release of the series is a standalone novella with no cliffhanger, each revolving around the same premise but featuring a different couple and also includes many of the characters from previous books. Now having said that, I would like to highly recommend reading the books in order to maximize the enjoyment of the story. This is just so exciting! I love science fiction! The book is exceptionally well written in the third person with multiple points of view and gives the reader an insightful peek into the mindset of the primary characters. The story is exciting, original, inventive, unusual, well crafted, fast-paced, romantic and arousing. The dialogue is well executed and flows effortlessly. The characters are unique, fascinating, captivating, well developed, engaging and endearing. Raines skillfully combines these elements into a brilliantly entertaining science fiction story filled with adventure, heartbreak and romance. The premise of the series: In a near future dystopian earth, the planet is overpopulated and on the verge of destruction. The air is polluted and there is a severe shortage of food, fuel, natural resources and breathable oxygen. Many of earth's animals are now extinct. Six months ago, an alien race called the Karal arrived via a wormhole offering to help mankind and save the day in exchange for an alliance and breedable women. Wait! What? Women? A lottery has been called and women that meet certain criteria have the option to enter their names in the drawing. And just what is the prize if you win the lottery, you ask? To move to the planet Karal where food and oxygen is abundant, become the very lucky mate to one of the handsome aliens, serve as his personal broodmare and become an alien baby machine. Huh? Wait, that's the prize? Kindhearted alien Okil has grown fond of the people and strange customs of Earth and has finally been given the opportunity to be the recipient of the next lottery winner as his mate. But what most people on earth don't realize is the Karalians control who wins the lottery and Okil has already chosen his human female which just happens to be Tikki Sergeant, the sister of the first lottery winner, Elissa Sergeant. He fell in love with her when he visited her for the first time to deliver news of her sister, who now resides on Karal. And Tikki loves Okil deeply, so it seems everything will work out perfectly for them both. Tikki will get to leave the devastated and dying Earth behind and finally be able to see her sister Elissa again who is now pregnant with the first child to be born of a human/karalian union. Unfortunately, it seems nothing is ever simple for anyone in Tikki's family and as a result of a promise made to a friend, she must now sacrifice her own happiness and her future with Okil. Or will she??? Will Okil be able to find a way for them to be together??? Will the Karalians be able to save the human race from destruction and or will they now no longer have a need for the human females and leave the greedy earthlings to their own terrible fate??? We'll see.... Beautiful, selfless young human heroine willing to sacrifice her own happiness for the welfare of others-check! Handsome, kindhearted alien hero who loves not only his people but also the human race as well despite their faults and greed-check! A wonderful cast of returning characters-check! Danger, drama, adventure, suspense, mystery, betrayal and a devious plot to destroy the Karal and take their planet-check! Heated attraction, fiery passion, sweet dreamy love and steamy sex-you bet! That and a whole lot more! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read!!! Harmony Raines has skillfully used this book to set the stage for her exciting new spin-off series, Warriors of Karal and I, for one, can hardly wait to read the first release, Stranded!
I had written out my review 👌 but lost it! 📕👍🐻 So now I have to try to rewrite it. I have thoroughly enjoyed all of these stories and this one was just as good! The author has written another series that is a take off from this one. We will see if it is as good as this series!
Devotion (Chosen by the Karal Book 5) By Harmony Raines. Okil goes to earth to pickup Tikki but there is a problem. Tikki has a young child with her. Okil has to smuggle the child onto Karal. Is this a problem too far or a solution to their troubles?
3.5 stars Devotion, the 5th book in the Chosen by the Karal series, is one of my favorites of this series. I almost stopped reading the series after book 4 but I'm glad I kept going. I'm reading these books through the Kindle Unlimited program. They are rather short for the price of some of them so I'm not sure I would have purchased them. Ms Raines creates an interesting world where Earth is over populated and the environment is failing. Without intervention Earth and its people will not last more than another generation. The Karal have traveled the galaxy looking for women to breed with during their limited breeding years, unfortunately most of the men of Karal do not think the Earth is worth saving and there is controversy over whether to just take the needed women or to help Earth and Humans survive. I don't want to give anything away and the description on Amazon and Goodreads gives does a good job. The books are well written but there were grammar issues as well as incorrect words being used. For the most part though these issues do not distract. Heat level is 6.5 (1= Christian, 5= fade to black and 10=explicit erotica.
So this series was enjoyable. There were a few bumps in the road for me but Okil's story was pleasant. I enjoyed this one of the series the most. Even though it got a little too heavy for me in the end, less romance more politics.
The thing I have to say though is... You can't come to the 5th book in a series and then change all the rules. It was subtle in the other books so it was easy to ignore. The little things that suddenly became important rules but in this book... All of a sudden being a virgin was a requirement for the lottery?
Tikki's sister had a boyfriend. He was in the resistance. Harri? Elissa's book was the 1st. How can you come now to say in the 5th book that the girls suddenly have to be virgins?
I mean I'm all for it. I love the innocence angle but... not in the 5th book of a series. So the was an upset for me. There were other rules and alien mannerisms that suddenly appeared as well but since then I've read like 6 books and I can't remember them all.
To anyone reading this review though... it was an enjoyable book despite those little things. Okil was the most lovable of all the aliens yet. I loved the way he was with Tikki.
Great continuation of this series !! Book 5) This series makes you think. Sci-Fi tale with the dying planet Earth, and an alien species needing women to replenish their generation. A lottery is held so a female can go to their planet to mate and procreate their species. Okil finally gets his lady, Tikki. There are complications and a small child who needs protection, plus the bad guys plot to take over Karal. Feelings are changing on his planet as the females are introduced and begin to bring out the repressed emotions of the alien race. Their plan has to change if this new generation is to thrive. Interesting story, hot sex, and deep characters make this worthwhile. This can be a stand alone, but I think would be more fun for the reader if you know the characters as the series develops. Well written, realistic and telling, this is a fun Sci-Fi series. Highly recommend. ENJOY !!
Okil got his happily ever after *big grins* and with Tikka, the naughty sister from book one, well she got her wish and then some. I can safely say I didn't see that one coming. Overall this is my favourite in the series, but then Okil has been one of the key characters throughout the whole series and I had hoped that he would get his own story. With each book we have been shown more of his character and personality then any of the others, which is a bit surprising since in the previous 4 books he had a support role to the main characters. Each time I go to write about Tikka I have to stop myself from spoiling it for those who haven't read the book yet, she matured quite nicely from our first glimpse of her in book 1. It's my understanding that this is the last book in the series but we can expect an offshoot, which I look forward to reading.

Okil's story was greatly anticipated. Harmony Raines promised she would take care of Okil. Okil was a character in all 5 books and a big Earth sympathizer. when he is told he can now pick his MATE from earth. when he goes to Tikki and tells her he can finally take her as his mate and therefore they can leave for Karal. Till I gives him some news that he has to work out before he can take Tikki I to be his MATE and then take her home to Karal. My favorite of of all 5, but you want to read them all. Harmony Raines has yet to let me down and I have almost all of her books. I would rate her entire Karal Series a 100 if I could.
Devotion was such a wild, wicked and passionate adventure. There are a couple of surprises along the way. It was such an incredible book, I loved reading it and the ending was great. Looking forward to the Warriors of Karal.
I really enjoyed this series. These books are really well written and holds your attention from beginning to end. You won't be sorry for starting this series. Anxiously waiting for your new series and keep them coming.
I think Okil was my favourite of all his story really did well and really completed and laid foundations for other books in the series. Very good read.
