Ray remembers the first time that somebody aimed a gun at his head and told him he was about to die. Something about the seriousness of the situation, unprecedented at the time, compelled him to commit its details to memory. The 12 times it’s happened since are starting to blur into each other. Ray is a nice guy with the unfortunate ability to prompt hatred and occasional homicidal tendencies in an implausibly high percentage of the public. It conspires to influence his life in unexpected and frequently near-fatal ways. It's going to be a long year.
I found this story very entertaining. Just to be upfront, 'Jon' is a good friend and one of the many reasons for that is I enjoy his sense of humour. I'm not sure this is for everyone, but I certainly had fun with it.
This book was a very fun book for me. I enjoyed it very much. I laughed a little and I was entertained the whole time. I think this book is great!. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*
I initially wrote this story as a screenplay about fifteen years before I published the book. The main story was there, the main characters were there, but there were some issues too. I was looking for a new project and I wanted to try comedy. I decided to use the old screenplay as a starting point because a lazy part of me wanted to start my new project with 50+ pages (a very productive first day). I also hoped that the change in format might inspire me and help to solve the story's previous issues. I'm delighted with how it turned out. One of my favorite characters and some of my favorite lines of dialogue were additions to the book version. I still love some of the original text, but ultimately the story was better suited to this format. That said, I still believe it would make for a fun, enjoyable movie.
