Did you notice I held off for a while before submitting the author's review? Wanna know why?

Can I be completely honest here?

Okay, I loved the hell out of writing Book #1 in the Limbo Series, "Silent Whisper." I truly adored the whole concept; the time travel back to the 1980's--which were the best years IMHO--and I saw an opportunity to take this concept and not only run all over the place with it, but all over various decades too! Mysteries to be solved, wrongs to be righted, love and steamy romance in the mix, alpha males, a ghost mom who is a fucking riot, it had all the ingredients for a great series!

But then I found out what I hadn't known before: technically my brilliant concept is considered paranormal which apparently is no longer a big-selling genre. (Go figure after Stephanie Meyer "wowed" us all with her 'Twilight Series').

When I started seeing a common thread on the 4 and 5 star reviews of "Silent Whisper" that went something like this: "I generally don't like paranormal books, but because I love Andrea Smith's story-telling..." or "I took a chance on this book because I love anything Andrea Smith writes..." or "Paranormal is usually not my cuppa, but..."

So, there you have it--the reviews have been solid, but the typical reading population of my other series, G-Man and Baby Series DO NOT read 'paranormal' even though admittedly the reviewers commented the paranormal part was more of a 'backdrop' to the meat of the story.

I contemplated continuing with the series, but since I had already started 'Clouds in my Coffee' and because so many readers wanted more, I caved in to my editor Ashley B's nagging and finished it, though I wasn't sure how much I liked it myself. This one takes place in the radical 1970's, and if readers couldn't relate to the 1980's, how in the hell was THIS going to work?

But it DID work! I've watched the reviews coming in and I've read my FB messages where my loyal readers are lauding this as my BEST work yet, so hell, I'm giving it 5-STARS!!!

I loved this 2nd installment of the "In Limbo" series! Andrea Smith delivers a great double tale...she uniquely wraps two tales into one story, both captivating in their own right. While I liked Silent Whisper, I found so much more this this read! This read developed the characters more, provided a better double tale of interest, and brought the sexy heat!

Parrish Locke has found herself with a new family. She is connecting with her real dad and her "crossed over Ma." Both giving support to her as she comes to grips with her special gift that allows her to communicate with those who have passed. She has found purpose in helping those who are "in limbo" find peace!

The ghost of CeCe Adams, a young 70's cheerleader, brings a tale of too young, too soon. Her story heartbreaking and tragic...and so wrong! Her young life, her young love with Erik, the boy next door, is sweet and forever...until it is gone. Dreams ripped away...

With this new gift, Parrish is in for an adventure that sets about major changes in her life both personally and professionally! The best being the the introduction of FBI Agent Marco Trevani to the mix! HELLO!

HOT DAMN! I knew there was more to Parrish Locke...she just needed something, or someone to set her free...or at least set her straight! Even if it just for a night...or a few nights of release, right?

In case you are wondering, Marco is alpha all the way, he will melt the screen right off your e-reader! No stranger to the ladies, he has a reputation and rightfully so! His sexy swagger, sexual smack talk, and his pushy playboy attitude is HOT...Good thing for him, he and Parrish fit!

AAAAAHHHHH! I LOVED THIS...start to finish, I was hooked! I devoured it in just one sitting. I cannot wait to see where Andrea Smith takes this series. It looks like it is about to get pretty hot up on the snowy mountain Parrish is currently residing on!

In Silent Whisper (book one of the Limbo Series) we learn of Parrish’s gift, now with one stalled soul rescue under her belt, she gets a request from her Ma for round two. As Parrish begins to journey back to the seventies, via Cece’s memories, a love story that ends in tragedy is retold, leaving Parrish to aid FBI agent Marco Trevani Jr. in bringing her murderer to justice and bringing peace to two souls, one here on earth and the other that’s been stuck in the in between.

Clouds in my Coffee was so freaking good. I found myself forgetting that we were in the midst of revealing a murder mystery as I started to fall in love with Cece & Erik. But although we get a tragic ending to one love story, we get to see the glimmer of hope of a new love story develop with the introduction of Marco.

Andrea has been able to pull off two books so far in this series that allows the reader to experience love stories that although they don’t end with a typical happily ever after, they still leave you with peace in the end and closure. I found myself wishing that she’d continue this series but with the use of other fictional characters that we’ve had to suffer the loss of. Imagine if your favorite book boyfriend that was offed by that author (who shall not be named) could come back to give us closure! I would die. Happy.

I look forward to the additional books in this series, to find the closure of the tragic side of love and watch a new love bloom between Parrish and Marco.

Andrea has done it again. We go on another adventure with Parrish and its a fun ride. We meet Erik and CeCe and follow their love story and see what happens to them both. We also meet the very sexy Marco Trevani, Jr., and boy is he hot. He is an FBI agent brought in by Dominic to help Parrish solve the mystery. They clash right off the bat, there is an underlying sexual tension between them and it's sizzling. You will have to read to find out just how hot it gets. This was another amazing love story and I would recommend for everybody to read this. It's full of emotional turmoil with bits of humor mixed in.

I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Clouds In My Coffee (Limbo, #2) by Andrea Smith
4.5 stars!!

“How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.”

This is the second book in the Limbo series and I have to say is my favourite so far. This series is becoming highly addicting and I cannot wait to see what happens with Parrish going forward.

Clouds In My Coffee weaves a tale of past and present. The present is where we start with Parrish, she is staying with her father, slowly building that relationship that she never had and you can tell that these two are going to be tight. It is beautiful to watch as this turn of events is healing to both of them. If one good thing ever came out of their past it is this. Parrish is still coming to terms with her “power” and is apprehensive about her future assignments, but with her mother coming to her in her dreams she realises that she is stronger than she thinks and this “power” is a gift and she can use it to help those in limbo cross to the other side.

The latest assignment that Parrish is sent on is that of a young cheerleader called CeCe, she died in the 70’s and it is now up to Parrish to connect with her and find out the real chain of events that lead to her death. There must be a reason as to why she hasn’t crossed and it is now up to Parrish to find out what really happened and put the wrongs to rights. The blast to the past was a great read, the music and the setting bringing the scenes to life and made them easy to picture. I love the music from this era and found myself listening along as I read.

When Parrish connects with CeCe we are transported back to the 70’s and a beautiful yet heart-breaking story of young love, a love perhaps born too young. CeCe and Erik came from an impoverished back ground but it never shaped them as people. Although they were young they had that connection, but sometimes life gets in the way. With their interests taking different directions it slowly drifts them apart and at times I was heartbroken. It was easy to see that these two were meant for each other but sometimes pride comes first and what you see before you is clouded by insecurities and poor judgement.

“All I have now are regrets and guilt over what I might’ve done to change things. And what might have been if I had.”

Parrish has to fight for this cold case to be re-opened and it is up to her to convince an FBI agent of her abilities. I mean, telling an FBI agent that you can talk to and see the life of a dead person is no mean feat and it takes a lot of convincing, it also helps that their fathers share a past and with the backing of her father and some interesting facts thrown in, Marco the said FBI agent is finally on side.

I loved the introduction of Marco, not only was he a sexy Italian stallion but he was just what Parrish needed. He literally breathed life into her and it was great to see her transform before your eyes. Their constant banter had me smiling from ear to ear at times and laughing out loud, yet their chemistry was sizzling hot. It is their relationship that really brought this story to life and made for a captivating read. It also helps that Andrea can write a mean love scene and these scenes really brought their relationship to life. Even though they are both unsure of what it is they feel, you can sense that connection and I cannot wait to see more from these two.

“You, my friend, are nothing more than a distant memory for her; a lapse in her judgment that I’ve managed to rectify with my cock…”

I was totally invested in this story, both past and present. CeCe and Erik’s story was captivating from start to finish and I couldn’t wait to see if the real culprit finally got their just desserts. I experienced a plethora of emotions ranging from like, to love, to hate, to despair, to hope, to happiness, to love and some huge sighs and swoons. This book was perfectly balanced with the suspense and intrigue and with the romantic interest both between CeCe and Erik and Parrish and Marco. I also love the way Andrea wraps these stories with the final connection at the end and it always brings their story full circle.

“Take care of your heart.”

I hope that Andrea continues with this series because I want to see Parrish happy in herself and feel that if any man is up to it then Marco is it. This could be the beginning of a deadly crime fighting duo and those hiding criminals...be scared. This series reminds me of Quantum Leap and I loved that TV show, it's a unique idea and Andrea executed this one brilliantly.

This is Book 2 of the Limbo Series, and I have to say...I enjoyed it even more than the first!

This time Parrish has a mystery close to her dad's home. She is assisted by sexy FBI agent Marco.

In 1973, teenager Cece dies in a car accident. Or was it an accident? Cece shows Parrish the details that happened leading up to her death.

Cece starts when she is 16. Her dad left years ago, and she and her mom live in a trailer park. Her best friend going up, Erik, has become her boyfriend. At her mother's insistence, Cece tries out and makes the cheerleading squad. This gains her attention from Marshall, Mr. All American popular boy in school. He soon asks Cece out, but she tells him no since she is dating Erik. However, she does wonder what it would be like to go out with someone else - she has only known Erik.

She breaks up with Erik, who is heartbroken, and starts dating Marshall. Erik then starts seeing the ex of Marshall - Angie. Cece knows she has made a mistake, but continues to date Marshall.

Marshall isn't all he appears to be, and after showing his dark side to Cece, which Erik sees for himself - she breaks up with Marshall and reunites with Erik. Marshall harasses her in an ugly manner at school, shows up at her home, and tries to get back together with Cece. When she refuses, he becomes even uglier in his attitude with her.

Erik loves music and is in a band, and has a show one evening. While driving to the show, Cece has her fatal car accident. But Cece is in limbo - and has unfinished business she needs Parrish's help with in order to move on.

Again, this book had all the elements I personally love - a mystery, romance, even hotter sex this time (because we do move from Cece's last few months into Parrish's life as she solves the mystery), and supernatural themes. I loved the 70s growing up, as those were my childhood years, and adored the visuals of that time as I read.

The love story between Cece and Erik is heartbreaking but touching, and the chemistry between Parrish and Marco is off the charts. Marco is a sexy, devilish Italian and OMG I THINK I'M IN LOVE.

This is a must read story for any book lover!!

This is such a great series! The first book Silent Whisper blew me away with the concept and it only got better in Clouds In My Coffee . In the first book we find out Parrish has a gift of not only communicating with the dead but to actually living and experiencing their life up until their death. The majority of the first book was in the past with just a small amount in the present but in this one we get more time with Parrish and get to meet a very sexy FBI agent.

One of the best parts of this series is getting two stories in one. When Parrish is taken over and living the life of the deceased we get a great but tragic love story. This time the couple was high school kids from the ’70. Two kids that had grown up together as best friends that turned into love but with major bumps along the way that ended with one of them dying.

For this one a lot more investigative work needed to be done once Parrish “returned” and this introduced us to a new character, FBI agent Marco Trevani Jr. Marco helped Parrish bring justice to the dead girl along with being a new love interest for Parrish and let me tell you these two were smoking hot together. I’m hoping that Marco is going to be part of series from here on.

As with the first book in the series I was spellbound from beginning to end. Its one of those books where you find yourself reading faster to find out what’s going to happen next but yet not wanting it to end. I cant wait to see what person Parrish helps in the future and to see where her and Marco are headed in their relationship.

Another exciting, heart wrenching, and sexy story from Andrea Smith. Andrea can do no wrong, her books never fail to amaze me. I'm not much for paranormal, but when it's a story like this one I enjoy it very much. Parrish Locke is a young woman with the ability to talk to spirits and help them find peace so they can go to the other side. Even though this is a work of fiction, the story is plausible, it feels authentic. The characters are fully fleshed out and the things they think, feel and go through are relatable.

I love the character Parrish Locke, even though she is a gorgeous model who has the world at her feet, she is humble and not always sure of herself and her abilities and that makes her that much more endearing. Her inner monologue will make you giggle, she is just so adorable. I also enjoy her interactions with her mom who has passed on but continues to be a force in her life.

This is just a well written story, it has everything you could want in a book, relatable characters, a great story line, and some sexy time to spice it up! I highly recommend this book and anything that Andrea writes, she does not disappoint!

I enjoyed traveling back to the 70's! It was "far out"!

Had to. Sorry. :)

In the first book, Nick & Karlee's story consumed me. Even though they could no longer be together I was happy they could be a part of Parrish's life. I loved the support she got in the real world from her dad and the mental support through her dreams from her "ma".

I enjoyed Cece's story and the different tribulations she went through. I wanted more wrath to come to Marshall so I dissatisfied with his punishment. But honestly, I was more intrigued with Parrish's guy troubles!

I hope there will be a third one. I want to see what conspires between Parrish & Marco!

Andrea Smith has quickly become one of my favorite entertaining authors. I read "Broken Promise," the first installment in the "Beyond Death" series of books. I just finished the second book in this series, "Broken Dreams." I hope there will be a TV show's worth of books in this series.

As someone who nearly died, being close to death might be a natural thing, at least for Parrish. The first book sets the tone for the series and gives much of the back story that created a loveable and caring Parrish. The second book allows Parrish to blossom. I highly recommend reading the first before the second, but you can read it as a standalone, with Parrish's narrative at the beginning giving you a recap. I also suggest that you read the "1970s Slang Dictionary" at the back of the book if you aren't sure of the words during the book.

This book is even steamier than the last. That's not to say the first in the series wasn't steamy. I found all the characters warm to fiery and cared about what happened and what they thought. In "Broken Dreams," you get a murder, a breakup, a budding romance, and a reaffirmation of relationships started in the first book. I loved how Parrish continued to stay close to her father. I found this book thoroughly entertaining, racy, fun, and full of intrigue. I highly recommend this book.

5 Stars for another book where I feel like I am living the life of the main character

Why am I shocked every time Andrea Smith writes another book with a twist? I should learn to expect that from her, but I am still blown away. Every. Single. Time.
I'm excited that we get to see more of Parrish Locke in this book, as we did in the first of the Limbo series, Silent Whispers. Even though Parrish is a gorgeous model with an amazing life, I never have that feeling of, "Why can't my life be as great as hers." Instead, I feel connected with her, as she has the same hopes and fears as every woman.
In Clouds in My Coffee, we get to meet Cece. Well, we don't just meet her, we live her life. The way that Andrea writes her books, I FEEL them. I experience Cece's life as if it's my own. Spoilers, spoilers, spoilers. They always prevent me from writing too much about her books, but the roller coaster ride is this author's best, by far. You will see some of them coming, but not ALL of them. And trust me, it's a shocker!
I am always impressed with this writer's versatility and will continue to read all of her books without even having to read the synopsis. Andrea Smith is just that good.

I love this series very much and the adding of taz was omg amazing I didnt realize how much I was missing him. I loved how the story unfolded but was sad at a few parts, its weird to watch how things happened through parrish. Now marco though amazing and a beautiful italian man, still doesnt hold a candle to taz but I can defintely see where its easy to luv him. I hope to see more of parrish and marco they have amazing chemistry and depth. Thank you andrea for letting me read this, as aways its great, wonderful, beautiful to read anything you write.

Let me start by saying I'm not a typical paranormal reader, but Andrea Smith has captivated me with the characters and the storyline. Erik and Cece's story is a tragic love story. Ryan and Parrish's story made me both sad and angry. Marco, the sexy pierced FBI agent just has a way of drawing you (and Parrish) in too! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more!

Clouds In My Coffee Review

So after reading Silent Whisper and LOVING it just like all of Andrea’s books I was pumped to see Book two come out. Well I just finished it and yes I mean JUST. Once again I am left whipping the tears from my eyes. This was different thought. It was not as hard to guess who the killer was but man did she ever throw in a BIG twist that I NEVER saw coming. Just like last time you get to go on the journey with Parrish but this time you get to go on more then one. Men come and go and come back again and you follow Parrish as she tries to not only help Cece have peace and reveal something that will just blow your mind but she also has to figure out what is the next chapter in her life.
The surroundings are brought to life as only Andrea can do and you are brought not only into a vivid world in the present with Parrish but also get to go back in time with Cece, Erik and a few others. What I have come to think of as a normal for Andrea is something not all authors can do. She pulls you in and holds you so tight you feel that it could be a real world. She does this flawlessly and I just cant get enough.
Cece is your everyday girl. She also is in love with her best friend and neighbor Erik. Everything seams great until Cece makes the cheer squad. It goes from great to bad to worse for Cece and as soon as it seams like its getting better and everything is going to be ok…….BAMN!!!!......Well we all know that she dies. Yes it is no secret. But like last time Parrish does her thing and helps put pieces into place. Also there helping is Marco Trevani Jr. Witch if you read SW you know his dad helped along side Dominic to take down his family. And well……yes a bit of a spoiler but I have to my FAVORET G-Man Taz comes in to help all the was from the BAU!!!! AAAAAA I know right. How much more sexiness could you ask for in a book.
So if you read book one GREAT read this because it is a great book to continue on. Andrea you did it once again. I thought I was going to get away without crying like a baby but yeah that didn't happen. Just like when Dom went to say good bye this good bye was just as hard to read. Thank you as always for sharing your gift of writing with us all and I am looking forward to anything and everything else that you put out for us. Love you babe!! xoxo

Clouds In My Coffee was the second book in the Limbo Series. This series was a very different from the other books by Andrea Smith.. but I loved it non the less. It is a romantic suspense with a twist of something magical. I would give this book a solid 4 stars and would most definitely recommend it to everyone. Andrea has a serious talent for writing the sexy scenes but for me she has shown me a new side of her writing and makes me love her even more. This is a series and some may say they could be read as a standalone... I on the other hand say no way you should read the first book Silent Whisper because it will explain Parrish's special talent a little more and more about her past. Although this book it based some in the 1970's it will still pull you in and make you want to keep reading to find out all the secrets. And don't worry it has an epic love story involved as well!

Parrish was given a gift to help others they can't cross over she helped her mother and since then she has been guided by her mother to help another lossed soul. Cecily is the lost soul and she wants closure on what actually happened to her and Parrish will live her last days of her life and learn things about the 70's she never knew... but will she be able to help this soul like she did her mother? Parrish will find out that her special gift is something people won't take lightly but in the end it will turn out that she will find out who she can trust. After a devastation in her personal life she finds herself at a loss that is until the sexy Marco comes into the picture... they have instant chemistry and for once she feels like she can finally be herself not just a model. He will make her feel things she never has before but she knows its just a sexy fling... but will it turn into more? Can she keep helping lost souls and live her life too?? Will Marco be the man she needs him to be or is he just like all other men out there??

You have to go pick up this series... there is a little surprise with this book we get a little Taz and boy oh boy how I missed him! Thanks Andrea for another great read... Trey from your baby series will always be my favorite but Marco has a place in my heart as well! I can't wait for the 3rd book in this series Crimson & Clover.

Seek and you shall find. The truth will always come out, well it will if you have Parrish on your side.
Do you believe in ghosts? Maybe you are sceptical but want to believe.
Parrish has a very special gift that helps solve some mysteries from long ago. She's never in any danger but when travelling back in someone else's memories to seek the truth it be scary even for the reader.

I have enjoyed this journey I have taken with Parrish. It's what we call a real page turner, then I'm devastated because I read to quick and the story has ended. Us readers are never happy, we always want more. I am praying for more in this series.

Parrish meets FBI agent Marco Trevani. What can I tell you about, Marco. Hmmmm!! Okay although he is drop dead gorgeous with a body to die for, he seems to really annoy Parrish. I think he just put the wrong size boxers on, Oh! he doesn't wear any. Marco prefers to go commando. Well hell yeah!
You know the real problem? Attraction. Parrish is beautiful and Marco is handsome. Imagine the chemistry these two have. Fireworks bright and loud enough to set your kindle on fire.

Marco believes in Parrish and tries to unravel the truth. After all there are always consequences when someone commits a crime and Parrish is determined to help out Cece, a friend of her late mother.
It's all very strange but yet heart warming. Imagine feeling like you literally just step into someone else's life.

Remember Dominic from Silent Whisper? What you haven't read? OMG!! You need to, well Dominic now going by the name Nick is over the moon to have Parrish in his life. Quite frankly me too.
He is older now but still as hot. Him and Marco in the same room. GULP! Blood pressure just gone through the roof.

This book has it all. Mystery, laughter, sadness, romance, suspense and the sex scenes. You are in for a treat. Put it this way you will not need coffee to stay awake and read this story.
I one million percent recommend this book. Must read so add to your TBR, even better download today.

Andrea Smith what can I say. You have blew my mind with this series. Please can I have another? Thank you so much for sharing. My mind will always boggle on how you came up with this whole plot. I have never read anything like it. YOU ROCK!

Well, Andrea Smith has done it again! She made a believer out of me the first time around in Silent Whisper and this follow-on has just cemented those feelings. You see, I am not a lover of paranormal books, but this book has such an interesting plot line that you can't help but get sucked in right from the Prologue. It is a fabulous paranormal and contemporary romance with enough nail biting suspense to keep you hooked until the very last page.

In CIMC, we continue with Parrish Locke's story from SW and follow her through another case while using her "special gift." I loved this book because we are given not one, but two story lines to read. We flip from Parrish's present-day life back to the 70's with CeCe and Erik's sweet love story almost chapter by chapter, but Andrea's writing is so good that the transition, every single time, is seamless. Plus, and this is an extra added bonus...we get a hot sexy FBI Agent named Marco to fuel the fire with our h. And, let me tell you, this book alone is worth its weight in gold from the sexual tension brewing between the two! Double Plus - we see our beloved smoking hot Taz from Love Plus One! What could be better than that?

If you read my other reviews, you know that I do not give out any spoilers for books, but I can tell you that this one really tugged at my heart while also making it beat fast with suspense and beat even faster with some super spicy sex scenes! I was all over the place with this book and I loved every second of it! CIMC has it all. Great Contemporary Vibe? Check. Fabulous 70's Throwback References? Check. Suspense? Check. Panty Melting Sex Scenes? Check, Check, Check! If you haven't yet, one click this book and enjoy the exciting ride Ms. Smith takes you on. You don't want to miss it!

This book can be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend you read Silent Whisper first to get the full experience.

An ARC was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

WARNING: This review contains mild spoilers so read at your own risk.

I thought I loved the first book from this series but I have to say that I have a new favorite.

Parrish Locke is back, and this time around she's back with a vengeance. Following her mom's clues Parrish goes on a mission to help a teenager who was murdered back in the seventies.
Guided by CeCe (the murdered girl) Parish learns about her life, her interactions with the people she loved and those who loved her, as well as with the person who ended up taking her life.

The story has a groovy feel to it since most of it takes place in the seventies, this part of the story brings a lot of things that were in and happening in that era which makes the story totally believable. While trying to help CeCe we also get a better understanding of Parrish's life in the present, a subplot to the main story so to speak. I have to say that I was impressed with the transitions between the past and the present, which are pretty much seamless.

While you'll experience some very steamy moments when Mr. FBI Marco comes to play, I have to say that this is a story that will tugged at your heartstrings. The senseless death of this girl will have you grabbing for those tissues without a doubt, and although the story didn't happen in this era we're living, it is definitely something that could happen at any given moment in time.

I absolutely LOVED this book, it immersed me in this girl's life and kept me there until that last word was written. The book has some paranormal aspects to it but nothing that would discourage a person not to read it. I'm looking forward to the third installment of this series to continue Parrish's new found mission to get justice for lingering souls.

Clouds In My Coffee is the second book in the Limbo series, following Silent Whisper. This is completely different than any of her other books and does not disappoint. Parrish Locke is a very unique 27 yr. old with a very unique gift. She is able to communicate with the dead. She became aware of this gift in the first book of the series Silent Whisper and she continues her journey by helping stranded souls cross over to the after life after helping them figure out why their souls are still here. Parrish literally travels back and relives the lives of the ghost she is helping in order to really understand their previous lives and to give them closure so they can peacefully leave their earthly lives. Clouds in My Coffee takes Parrish back to the crazy 1970s into the life of a popular cheerleader, Cece Adams. She is able to experience Cece's life, including her emotional high school years, romantic encounters and her untimely death. Parrish and Cece's story is not only an emotional ride but is also a real page turner. I found myself not able to read fast enough to find out what happened next. The only disappointment was that book three was not on my kindle waiting to be read. The writing is very professional and believable, the characters come to life and everything in the book flows perfectly. I love this story and am very impressed to see an author take a chance at writing something that is nothing like her previous writings and succeed in doing so as Andrea Smith has done with the Limbo Series. She is by far one of the most talented Indy authors out there. I highly recommend this series and will be counting the days until Parrish's story continues.

The second book in the Limbo series picks up right where it left off in Silent Whisper. We now know that Parrish Locke is different from most. While she tries to wrap her head around it, she is set on another journey by Karlie.

Just as the first book, the author’s ability to jump right into he spirit’s story creates an instant flash back sensation. This time we are in the 70s with a high school cheerleader, Cece. Before you roll your eyes, this is not what you think. I will not sit here and give you half the story, because truthfully, you need to read it to grasp the whole book. What I will tell you is that things are not always what they seem and death is not the end of Cece’s story…thanks to Parrish.

Parrish is able to set down a path to help Cece move on. With the help of her “new” father and the entrance of a super sexy FBI agent Marco Trevani Jr., the truth about what happened all those years ago will come out.

The story is mysterious, poignant, and sexy. It takes all the best elements of the first book and kicks it up a notch. Though the main story centers around teenages, there is a real love between Cece and Erik that moves past the age factor. The author truly gets how to bring together the past and the present in a way that the reader can enjoy.

I suggest you grab your coffee and sit down with both books in the series.

Broken Dreams
Beyond Series, Book 2
By: Andrea Smith
Narrated by: David Black, Amanda Stribling

The Beyond series has me captivated! You know, it's that feeling that you can't stop listening and feel like you are experiencing the story with the character! That is what Broken Dreams did for me. Parrish is making good on her promise to her mother to help other souls find the answers they need to finally rest. Her first meeting is with CeCe Adams, a girl who died when she was 18. There are no suspicious circumstances noted at the time, but now with the help of Parrish the truth is being sought out. Smith weaves a story between the past and present, letting us live the life of Cece, her boyfriend Erik and the craziness of high school. From the first meeting with these characters, I knew we were in for a wild ride, and it's exactly that! We also get a little romance for Parrish with FBI agent Marco Trevani as he helps the investigation. Fun, smartly written and suspenseful, it's easy to get pulled in. A great addition to this series.

Amanda Stribling and David Black bring this story to life with a fantastic duet narration. Each character voiced perfectly, and a lot of emotional angst felt through their performance as the teens go through their daily lives. It's a fantastic performance.

I loved book 1 in the Limbo series, and book 2 Broken Dreams (Clouds in my Coffee) followed the same trajectory with Parrish Locke using her ‘gift’ of being able to talk to ghosts, or ‘stalled souls’, as she calls them, to solve unknown crimes and help the souls to pass through, so to speak. This time Parrish goes back to 1974 where she becomes Cecile (CeCe) Adams, living and breathing her life up until her untimely death. When she comes back to her life as Parrish she teams up with sexy FBI agent Marco Trevani to put the pieces together and solve the ‘crime’. I listened to the audio version with David Black narrating all male POVs and Amanda Stribling narrating all female POVs, both in duet. I love them narrating together, they always make me feel all the emotions, and I can assure you I felt it all. I loved this story, I love the fact that Parrish solves her own mystery in book 1, and she now has a mother on the other side, along with a father, a step mother, and an adoptive mother in the here and now, encouraging her, loving and supporting her, as she navigates her new normal. I do so hope that she eventually gets the happy ending, she deserves. Highly addictive, and enjoyable sexy drama. I loved it.

An intense and at the same time adorable book.

This is part two in Andrea Smith's Limbo series, a series that has a very light paranormal touch. I am not a lover of the paranormal genre but I find this series totally lovable.

In book one we met Parrish and were made part of her gaining the possibility to make contact with deceased persons dwelling around in Limbo with some unfinished business. Parrish is there to help those poor souls and that is the strong point of the books in this series: We get the story of the unfinished business of the Limbonians but we also follow Parrish in her personal life, two lovely stories entwined.

I am a lover of the writings of Andrea Smith and this story has all that Andrea has to give and more. The story of the deceased young girl is a harsh one. While Parrish can get immersed in the life of someone who died some 40 years ago, she can not change history. What I love especially about this story is how Andrea Smith handles the harsh side of it making this an intense but also very adorable read.
