Submissive Zebadiah Pellegrino maybe down, but he's not out yet. He knows there is a Dom or Domme for him - it's just a matter of finding him or her. But after an attack by a brutal Mistress, the owners of New Beginnings have been hovering like a pair of over protective hens. It's been over a year and he's ready to move on, but now he just has to convince them or leave New Beginnings.
New members, Dom Nicholaus Tarquinio and switch Stephanie McKeown have a unique D/s relationship and have been searching for sometime for a third member, a submissive to complete their triad. But the trick is to find a man who not only appeals to Nicholaus's domination but isn't above allowing Stephanie to have her fun too.
When Zebadiah catches Stephanie's eye, she and Nicholaus approach the wounded sub, wondering if he's truly ready take what they have to offer him, or is Ethan right about Zebahiah not being ready? Only time will tell.
Hello, and welcome to my site. I'm Dakota, an author of erotic romance (think 50 Shades of Gray - but better) and paranormal erotica. And what exactly does that mean? Well, since I've always marched to the beat of different drum: it means that I get to take my unique life experiences - like putting around in the garage with my dad, or driving a train when I was ten, to create worlds where the heroines aren't necessarily June Clever, but are strong independent women who may stand on their own two feet, but long to submit to the right man. Whether it's two friends who realize there is more than friendship between them or the sexy alien who captures his unwilling slave's heart, sparks fly between them. My imagination has no bounds or at least none I've found yet!
This was my maiden voyage with this author. It wasn't bad. The writing's a little pedestrian and it could've used an edit to clean up some SPaG errors and redundancy, but still a decent read.
Zeb has recently gotten out of a horribly abusive D/s relationship with a domme front the depths of hell who ignored his safeword and put him in the hospital. Needless to say he's a bit gun shy around the ladies. However he is drawn to Nicholaus and Nicholaus comes as a package deal with Stephanie, his submissive. Nicky and Steph have been looking for a male sub to complete their relationship and both are smitten with Zeb. They are also understanding of his reluctance to jump into another relationship and tread cautiously. Stephanie is a switch and kind of bratty making Zeb's total submissiveness and obedience quite appealing to both parties.
Eventually, Zeb cannot deny his attraction to both Nicky and Steph and that's when the fun began.
They're all hot for each other and some of the scenes between them were fuckhot…
"I just came in here to tell you both breakfast was ready… not to be blown away by some hot man on man action."
Yep. Legit mansex happens. Fairly often too.
The kink is mostly power games and bondage which makes sense given Zeb's recent history.
The storyline with Allison (psycho domme) was a bit melodramatic at times, but that's a crazy train for ya. Buncha whackadoodles.
I'd prolly read something else from this author. There were several secondary characters introduced that hold promise.
Threesome with a male dominant, a female switch and a male submissive is a kinky menage lover's delight. The second book in the Doms of Napa Valley series, Essential Master, is another winner by talented Ms. Trace. In this book, the author tackles the several heavy topics in a gentle yet strong manner. Zebadiah is a submissive from head to toe. He loves to serve and he enjoys bringing pleasure to his dominant. As a bisexual and male submissive, it's a double whammy in some ways. Even though the lifestyle is supposed to be accepting of all sorts, "your kink may not be my kink but it's all good", Zebadiah learns otherwise. This is the same experience Nicholaus encounters at his usual stomping grounds. Both he and his submissive, Stephanie are no longer welcome due to Nicholaus' bisexual nature.
This is something I never understood. Why does anyone care about who is having sex with whom. This is a personal choice and for others to weigh in on a personal matter is just illogical and frustrating. Then again, I'm a bisexual switch so perhaps I'm bias. When Nicholaus and Stephanie find New Beginnings, they are happy to find their own safe haven. To find a third in their relationship would put them over the moon. When Zebadiah catches their eye, it looks too good be true.
This is a story which covers the distressing topics of abused male submissives and power hungry dommes who think they are above the law. Why anyone thinks a male submissive versus a female one deserves what they get is beyond my comprehension. Ms. Trace balances this negative view of those who abuse power with those who build trust and gain power through willing submission. Nicholaus and Stephanie are a power couple whose idea of sexual submission will make most submissives drool. Too bad they are only looking for males, not females.
This story is very well written to show the forward and backward movement due to a trigger. Ms. Trace humanizes all three characters. The emotions come off the page and move a reader. The sorrow, fear, yearning and hope expressed by each of this potential triad is engaging and pulls a reader into the story deeper.
Since this is a Ms. Trace book, needless to say, the DSM is spot on. It's so good and her scenes come across authentic and close to what I've witnessed or experienced in real life. The club, New Beginnings, may be a fictional place, but it is a place with some similarities to the DSM club I belong. This makes the story more real for me and relatable. This book is highly recommended to menage lovers who enjoy the kinkier side of life.
I never read Dakota Trace and once I read the first chapter, I knew I would enjoy this story very much. It is not the typical D/s menage relationship with two Doms. Normally, I would not read this kind of D/s menage. One, because I am not attracted to Mistresses. Two, I am not fond of the third joining a couple many years after their established relationship. Three, lets say that I am just reticent to read any D/s with switch female.
But the blurb intrigued me and I can hardly refuse to read a BDSM (mmf or mfm) menage. I am attracted like honey and bees. I. need. to. read. them.

Essential Master will show you a face of BDSM that everyone should be aware: the line between abuse and sharing mutual satisfaction. Sadism is a touchy subject and I am no specialist to talk about it. All I know is that Essensial Master is the journey of Zebadiah from abuse and hurt to happiness. I loved that the journey was taken step by step, not rushed from one paragraph to the next but chapter after chapter. It was very intense. The love and need of the impact games is dangerous if a safeword is not respected. The endurance when someone is in subspace is very very dangerous if the Dom(me) in control is not experienced and does not understand the body language, the signs, the words and does not respect the safeword. Zebadiah had little limit and his obedience almost destroyed him physically and emotionally.

I loved the story.
I honestly believe it is a BDSM story that everyone interested in the lifestyle should read but it is also an outstanding love story between three individuals. Dakota Trace explored the delicate subject of abuse and kudos for writing such a powerful romance story.
This was an extremely hot and sexy story about a big, strong Dom, his sub who is actually a switch and the sub they set their sites on making a permanent part of their relationship. You cannot help but fall in love with Zeb and his willingness to move forward and fight his demons to have the loving relationship he wants. All 3 of the MC's were engaging, loving and sexy. A definite must read for anyone interested in the BDSM scene or just a super hot romance!
Wow this book is absolutely fantastic!! Nicky, Steph, and Zeb are a dynamic triad. This story and me reacting out loud. Smiling, laughing, and some tears. The writing and flow of this book is perfect. I absolutely recommend this book.
Really happy I read this. My first book by this author and I could definitely see myself becoming obsess with her writing/books. There's something wonderful about seeing or reading someone rise above their situation. Somehow gratifying to see or read about someone facing their fears and coming up on top. Even though circumstance made them a victim. And the HEA in this book was a good twist for me. So God damn sweet and full of such romance that how I would want mine to be.
I loved this book. I really liked the dynamics in this menage. It was clear that everybody wanted each other. My only complaint is that I would have loved to read more sex scenes in which Nicholaus and Stephanie dominated Zebadiah :P
