Evolved Publishing presents the second book in the multiple award-winning Chosen series of young adult mystery thrillers, which feature an American Indian fantasy and supernatural theme, from the same author who brought you the award-winning thriller Shatter Point, and his daughter.

Juliet Wildfire Stone and her best friend, Troy Buckhorn, barely escaped their sleepy Arizona town alive. Now they’re speeding to New York City to find the three other Chosen. The Chosen must band together to face an ancient foe that threatens all humanity.

Yet Juliet doesn’t know whom to trust, and strange things are happening in the City.

The Chosen will be tested, their resolve questioned, and their flaws exposed. Each must decide whether he or she will fulfill their destiny—or run. To defeat the enemy, they must stop battling among themselves and overcome their own struggles.

Only one can lead them. Will Juliet embrace her powers in time?

Brink of Dawn picks up where the multiple-award-winning first book in the Chosen series, Wind Catcher, left off, but it can also be read as a stand-alone novel. Continue the adventure! I was excited to have won a paperback copy of Brink of Dawn by Jeff Altabef, after reading the first book in the Chosen series, Wind Catcher. The series is a fantastic teen and young adult fantasy and science fiction read. Brink of Dawn picks up where Wind Catcher left off, but it can stand alone.

Juliet Wildfire Stone lives up to her name. She has powers: hears peoples thoughts and reads their emotions, possess animals, super strength and speed, telekinesis, heals instantly…a regular superhero. She has a destiny and knows there are others out there, like her. There is more than Earth at stake and I am so happy that she has her BFF Tony at her side.

This series turned out to be a surprise. It is more than what I was expecting. A group of youngsters out to save th world. Action, danger. They are the chosen and then there’s Troy. They will fight as a team and only death will stop them. The characters grow, develop, and become a family as they fight the good fight .

Surprise and thrills and all the young adult goodness makes this a series that kept me reading and entertained and I do want more…there is a Book III, Scorched Souls.

The second book in the series picks up a week later after the first book, Wind Catcher. Brink of Dawn brings a bit of a twist from the first book.

Juliet Wildfire Stone, has left Arizona to travel across the United States to find others like herself in New York. With Troy by her side, Juliet seeks out the Inn where she has been summoned.

Juliet has many abilities.
"I have five so far: I can hear other people's thoughts and read their emotions; I can possess animals for a short period of time; I have increased strength and speed; can move things with my mind; and heal instantly. There will probably be more, but they scare me. With each new one, I become less human."

This book adds in more characters that are also "Chosen." Akari arrives from Japan. For a time, the reader follows her journey west and how she escapes from a seeker. Akari is a high strung person who is quick to anger. She is trained very well with the use of her sword but prefers using her power to create fire.

Blake comes from a rich family who sends him away to complete his destiny. He is a timid sort who prefers a computer than fighting and using his power of high force winds.

Both, Akari and Blake have their own chapters from their POV. However, Connor does not. The reader gets to know him through Juliet's point of view.

Connor comes from across the pond and adds in that dry humor to the group. He also adds in some mystical qualities that young ladies are attracted to. I enjoyed Connors character. The reader learns good things about him but I wanted to know more.

I like how the author covers the relationship between Troy and Juliet. In this book, the reader sees more of how Troy helps Juliet and how she has a hard time expressing her gratitude to him. Their relationship runs deeper then the two of them realize and the reader is able to see how the two of them make sense.

I like how the distance between Juliet and Sicheii is touched on. While they may be apart, he is still with her and able to help her on her journey. I really enjoyed his character in the first book and was happy to see him in this book.

Stewart was a strange character for me. First, he acts as a inn keeper, then describes himself as an ugly. I wanted to know more about his character. Although, he irritated me a bit, I still felt like I didn't get to know his role in the book as much as wanted to. His motivation wasn't as clear for me. There were things left unanswered.

I continue to enjoy the story. Although, this book was, at times, a bit slow. What I mean, is that the story moves a bit slower paced than the first book. I love the way the writers write though. I enjoy Juliet so much. The new characters were introduced a bit differently. Akari and Blake came on a bit fast. But I was able to get to know the new characters well enough to know that they need each other

Overall, I liked this book but not as well as the first book. However, sometimes the second book in a series is there to bridge together greater things. I would love to read the next book. I feel like Juliet has so many more adventures. Juliet is a great character who is interesting to follow. Brink of Dawn, helped me to see what Juliet and everyone is capable of. This book is a great example of their power and their determination. This book ends on a cliff hanger, so be prepared to want to continue on and be very curious as to what comes next.

Title: Brink of Dawn
Series: Chosen #2
Author: Jeff and Erynn Altabef
Genre: YA, Fantasy
Overall Rating: 4 stars

Book two in this epic American Indian rooted fantasy series sees us off where we were left. Juliet and Troy have to team up with the rest of the Chosen to battle the Deltaite and restore the world to normal.

I really do like Juliet as a main character, she isn't usually to rash with her decisions and she appears to have a conscience unlike most female, or even male, main characters. When she had to whole internal dilemma about killing somebody, that showed that she was actually human. That's always a nice thing to see rather than her being a killing robotic machine.

I liked the kind of accuracy in this book, it showed a lot of research had been done. Obviously Jeff and Erynn are American, so the fact they researched a Chelsea FC song to put in showed a nice piece of research. Also both Man United and Chelsea are awful, it's all about Manchester City!

But personal preference there.

I like the flashbacks with Sicheii a lot, it showed a bit more about their relationship than we previously got to see because he was so erratic in the last book. It did strike me as odd though, that he appeared so wise in this one. It was like when Harry met Dumbledore in the seventh film and Dumbledore was all wise but in reality he was just an old wizard who got Harry to do his dirty work for him.

I don't know, I'm rambling on here.

This series is very good so far and I don't know why more people haven't invested their time into this series yet.

This is a captivating continuation of the life or death adventures of the previous 'Wind Catcher' prequel!

Brink o Dawn leads our main characters to New York where they meet up with the very diverse personalities of the other three "Chosen". Is it truly possible for them to become a "team"? Will they be able to combat centuries of evil? The human race depends on them! They are but youth. How can they stop such powerful and evil forces?∇

The story steadily progresses and further defines each character. The characters are very vivid and feel real. The scenes are easily visualized so that the reader feels he/she is there. The story's ending leads the reader into eager anticipation for the final trilogy sequel. How will it all end?

The only problem I had with this book is I felt the plot was slightly beleaguered. ^Warning: There are a few crude words some parents might find offensive for their YA to read.

Brink of Dawn is the second book in the Chosen series. Although a reader can grab this book without reading Wind Catcher and still get the general gist of what's going on, I wouldn't recommend it. There are quite a few characters chasing a general goal, but the meaning of this goal and the importance of the task aren't really clear without the background of book one.

That said, this is a book running on full tilt. There's actions - tons of action -, mystery and a sense of tension, which radiates off the pages. The Chosen collect for their destiny from all parts of the globe, not sure who the others are or what their task will entail. I really enjoyed the diversity in all of this and still find the Indian undertones fantastic, especially since the merging of cultures and races doesn't feel forced, but melds into a wonderful balance with the plot.

The characters each come to life, every single one with it's own background, problemsd and personality. The chapters bounce around between the characters, but I had no trouble keeping track of what was going on. This isn't only about the characters finding each other, but weaves around each of them finding themselves. It makes for an exciting mixture of coming of age, self-discovery, friendship, and, of course, saving the world.

With so much happening, it's hard to put this book down and easy to fly through the pages. There are moments where the momentum hiccups, and it felt as if one or two sentences surrounding the scene or explanations were simply left out, but in general, the writing is solid and draws in.

I can recommend this for the younger YA audience, especially those who love fight scenes, chases and the ever-shadowing knowledge of approaching danger. This is a fun read, one that shouldn't be overlooked.

This book is the second book in the Chosen series of books. Warning if you have not read Wind Catcher this review could have spoilers. This book is a continuation of Juliet’s story. Juliet called Jules by her good friend Troy, is learning to use her powers, while discovering new powers as she goes along. Juliet has a vision and sees through the eyes of a dark spirit, as Troy likes to call them, that they know she is hunting and killing Seekers. While Juliet is not alone in her abilities, she is still a chosen one of a few select and has to try to save the world. Will she be able to do everything that she must? Find out!
This book was really great. The pace was face and the characters were well developed. This book would be a great read for anyone who likes stories, with extra ordinary powers, as well as some kind of aliens, and for people who just like stories that are action packed. I would recommend this book to everyone to try!

I’m giving this book 5 fangs.

The Brink of Dawn is a well paced step that keeps you in stride with its characters to the very end. Five teenagers, 2 girls and 3 boys, find themselves drawn into dangers that press them beyond natural ability and into their destiny. Each one is chosen. Each one is equipped with special abilities, and each one is driven for a purpose. Much rides, not on the abilities they've been given, but on their ability to control their gifts, and find a unity amongst themselves that will strengthen their powers and grant them the victory they need. Each character's personality carries their weight throughout the storyline, merging, maturing, and delighting you with their wit and fortitude. The writing is crisp and clever and keeps the reader engaged at all times. I await the final addition to the set.

Better read the first book first as we are straight into a world of Native American legends merging with alien DNA, Prime Electors, Alphians, Deltites, Chosen, Uglies and Elites. Telekinesis and other talents abound, some seeming to be made up to serve the immediate story purpose. If you don't have an idea what is going on you haven't much chance of picking up as you go. Some of this instalment is set in modern New York. A nice touch is that someone worries about homeless children in the city. Not for long. There are crystals to find and creepy men on the prowl.

I disliked that the sixteen year old kids are out getting tattoos - illegal at that age as they are told, and a poor example to readers, given that kids younger than sixteen usually read about sixteen year olds. The tale continues with a lot of violence including kicks, broken bones and knife to a throat. I did feel it was too violent for young YA readers but more mature readers would be okay. Also, too strong language is used for this age of reader, and the vodka didn't sound good either.

The style doesn't really suit me but other readers may of course enjoy this more.

I was sent an e-ARC by the author. This is an unbiased review.

Wow!

I thought the first book was good but this topped it by miles. I loved the way it makes you think about what could happen. Juliet tries to keep Troy safe but this leaves her open to everything so she had to try and keep him out of sight and away from danger.
She meets with the other "chosen" and Troy is her rock he wants to protect her he's been through everything with her, she lets him think he is when in reality she's looking out for him all the time.
You always think you know what's going to happen and who to trust and who not to but it throws you at every turn.
It's a great book and I can't wait to read the next in the series which I'll be doing as soon as I've written this review.
I'd recommend it to anyone that likes anything paranormal or fantasy it will be the best book you've read for a long time if not ever!

My Thoughts:

Is it possible to actually fall in love with something or someone more than you already are?
Yep, absolutely possible.
And that is pretty much what has happened with this series, these authors, and the characters. The Chosen series really does keep getting better and better.
I love that in the second installment, Brink of Dawn, we delve deeper into the prophecy and realize it isn't only central to Native American folklore; it gives us similarities and examples from the other major religions too. So just like in the book where we have very different people from all walks of life coming together for a common purpose, we see that the beliefs have more in common than most people realize they do. It is truly a breath of fresh air in this day and age.
Our main character, Juliet, is still recovering from losing someone very close to her in the first book, Wind Catcher, as well as trying to reconcile herself with the fact she will have to commit crimes she may not be able to forgive herself for, even if it is to save the planet. In this book, Juliet has to learn more about herself as she goes into a self-imposed exile internally.
Troy is still there protecting his best friend, Juliet, and learning more about himself as well. We see a tremendous growth in each of these characters as they learn their importance in each other's lives.
We are also introduced to a few new characters that play pivotal roles in the progression of the story. Connor, a young man who is very troubled and drinks to deal with the pains of the past, is an interesting character that I have to say I really enjoyed. He proves the point "never judge a book by its cover" to be true time over time.
Akari is super fun! I also love that we get to see Japanese mythos brought in and are able to find similarities between it and the other mythos in the story. Akari is a strong and tough female but still has issues that she must learn to overcome. She has panic attacks when she least needs to have them and I just find myself loving her so much because I , too, suffer from panic attacks. I can definitely relate, even if I can't save the world from powerful aliens!
Blake is also an enigma in his own right too. At first glance, you would think he is a pompous and spoiled young man, but we soon come to find out he has the biggest heart you could imagine. He, just like his counterparts, have some serious issues that he will have to work through to save the world.

I found myself reading Brink of Dawn nonstop and having a very hard time putting it down to do routine things like eat, sleep, or teach. This is a story that has an exciting plot, relatable and lovable characters, and a theme to die for.
I highly recommend this series to anyone that loves fantasy with a mixture of the different mythos (including Christianity) and has a scientific appeal to it too.

Brink of Dawn was a fast-paced novel that is second in the Chosen series but can be read as a stand-alone novel. Juliet and Troy travel to New York where Juliet meets up with the other 3 Chosen. It is here that they are to prepare to meet “an ancient foe that threatens all humanity.”

These four young people, who were chosen for this quest, have to learn to work out not only their own issues, but stop fighting amongst themselves and learn to work together. As they change and learn how to use their new abilities, they also face their own flaws and must overcome them.

Their character flaws were very relatable and realistic. This made the characters seem all the more personable and three dimensional. The kinds of flaws they have are similar to the ones we each have – phobias, addictions, dependence on others, low self-esteem and so on. Most of us can relate to one or more of these in one way or another.

I liked each of the new characters that were introduced as the Chosen. I thought that the way that they were introduced – through a dream Juliet has about them – was an interesting way to do it – as it gave both Juliet and the reader the same information at the same time.

The unexpected twists and turns in this story made it a delightfully refreshing book to read. There is lots of action and all of it will keep you on the edge of your seat. This is a book that will be hard to put down. Brink of Dawn is a great book for audiences over the age of 13 due to the amount of violence.

Brink of Dawn was a very engaging book to read and I gave it a rating of 5 stars out of 5. I’m looking forward to the final instalment of this trilogy!

I read Wind Catcher (the first Chosen book) earlier this year and loved it. In fact, when I got my copy of Brink of Dawn, I thought I'd skim through the first book to refresh my memory of the story so far – and wound up re-reading the entire thing. Wind Catcher tied up most of its loose ends, but left a few dangling to ensure that I'd rush to read the next book ASAP. Some of those mysteries that were introduced in the first book are explained, or at least further explored, in this follow-up. And the ending of *this* book ensures that I'll be eagerly awaiting the conclusion to the trilogy!

This book (as well as the first in the series) is a great blend of mystery, fantasy, sci fi, YA adventure, and Native American folklore. I have to admit, after reading an entire book from Juliet's POV, I was so invested in her character that I lost interest in this book a little when the perspective switched to a different character entirely. Not because of any fault in the writing, but rather because Juliet has been crafted as such a strong, captivating character that I was sad to leave her behind, even temporarily. However, the introduction of the additional Chosen adds to the suspense and intrigue (and tension!) The authors do a great job with characterization, with each character having his/her own unique personality, strengths, flaws, and traits. The fast-paced plot kept my flipping the (virtual) pages right through to the end of the book, and as I suspected, I would like to read the next book NOW. I could actually see this series becoming the next "big thing" among YA readers (with star-studded movie adaptations to follow, of course).

This is another knockout from the father-daughter writing team, and I'm very much looking forward to reading the conclusion of the trilogy!

In Brink of Dawn, Juliet and her best friend, Troy, leave all that they are familiar with in Arizona, in order to search for three other Chosen in the city of New York. Finding Akari, Blake, and Connor proves easier than Juliet anticipates and soon, the group is training to kick Deltite butt and save the world from the invasion of an evil race.

I like Juliet as a protagonist. She thinks like a typical teenage girl, and worries about most things I probably would worry about if I were in her shoes.

In the course of reading this book, it became obvious to me that Juliet is more than just a Chosen: she is an Alpha (a sort of special breed of Chosen). She still shows signs of struggling to fit in, even with her new family of Chosen. This is due to the fact that she is Alpha, and so has more special abilities than the other Chosen. She is faced with making quite a number of life changing decisions, and the fact that she shows hesitation to kill the “bad guys” shows that she truly has a conscience.

I like the fact that the authors seem to have done some research on various aspects of the book (such as the Native American culture, the Japanese lingo, and stuff as minor as Chelsea Football Club song). The flashbacks provide an insight to Juliet’s worries about failing the people who are depending on her, and a whole new side of her grandfather who starts to appear wise (even though he is dead). There is a teeny, weenie bit of romance in this story, but not enough to throw the readers off the subject matter.

Overall, Brink of Dawn is an amazing book with realistic settings and characters, despite the paranormal storyline. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a fast-paced, Young Adult, mystery read.

Brink of Dawn is an incredibly thrilling young adult fantasy complete with intense action and invaluable friendships. This is book two in the Chosen Series and it is just as captivating as the first book, Wind Catchers. A host of new characters make an appearance and readers get the chance to meet the other Chosen ones. Juliet's impressive abilities continue to emerge and she soon discovers she is the one who will lead the other Chosen in their fight to save the world. However, they'll have to survive their Host's training techniques if they hope to stand a chance against the Deltites.
Simply put, my thoughts on this book are "wow!" I loved the first book and was eager for Brink of Dawn to be released so I could find out what the authors had in store for Juliet and the others. I was not disappointed and raced through the pages taking in the exciting and gripping plot as it unfolded before me. The authors are amazingly gifted and share their talent with readers through their imaginative storyline and creative characters. I like how the setting changes from the Arizona desert to the Big Apple, giving readers a chance to explore new places right along with the characters. Speaking of characters, they are my favorite part of this series. They are developed in such a way that it's hard not to feel connected to them. I celebrated their accomplishments, felt their fear, and genuinely cared for their well-being.Brink of Dawn is definitely a great story for teens and young adults, but older adults (such as myself) will enjoy this series as well. Kudos to the authors for another book well done and I highly recommend picking up a copy.

Brink of Dawn is a well-paced fantasy novel that is told through the point of view of an enhanced female named Juliet. She has magical powers that cause her to run from an organization that is out to get her, and all four others with similar special abilities. Juliet is one of five chosen, who each have special abilities that aid them in achieving their destinies.

I had some trouble keeping up with the plotline of the book, as I had never read the previous one in the trilogy, Wind Catcher. For that reason, I don't believe that I enjoyed Brink of Dawn as much as I would have, had I read the first book. Nonetheless, I would still recommend this book to any Indian fantasy lovers.

The main character, Juliet Wildfire Stone, is strong and willful. She is a sixteen-year old with the power of vision-seeing. She has trust issues, but she battles through them throughout the plot with her supportive and loyal best friend, Troy. They face many dangers together, which only strengthens their friendship and their inner confidence.

I found it really interesting that Jeff wrote this book with his teenage daughter, as that is not common in writing. This was artful, as it brought two different perspectives into one novel, making it more thorough and branched. Overall, I enjoyed this book, and would recommend it to people looking for a good suspenseful Indian fantasy novel.

I have to admit that I started reading this and couldn't remember what on earth happened in book 1, Wind Catcher. Because of that, I had to scramble a little to get myself up to speed - and Brink of Dawn doesn't give you much clues. Or it does, but rather disjointedly.

Written in the voice of Juliet Wildfire Stone, who is not only Chosen, but also their Alpha, you get a glimpse of a sixteen year old struggling to be good enough, but not always believing it. She rails against why she must be "special" and "different", clings on to her best friend Troy, both using him and pushing him away at the same time, develops feelings for her fellow Chosen and struggles with jealousy, rushes headlong into dangerous situations, and is generally full of snark.

In this second book, Jeff & Erynn Altabef solve the glaring pacing issues that were evident in the first one. It also has a wider focus - saving the world - which I guess appeals to me more. Juliet continues to work through her trust issues, learning to work with the other 3 Chosen and Troy as they attempt to save the world - or at least New York for a start.

Loved it! Read it straight though. So, this book takes up right where the first book, The Wind Catcher, ended. Juliet and her best bud Troy are a great duo. Troy is always by her side, ready to fight at a moments notice, even though he doesn't have any superpowers. Plus, he is a connection to her Native American heritage and keeps her balanced. Juliet really struggles with allowing him to remain with the new group of four, but she only does it because she cares. Of course, Troy follows his own ideas, and I love that.

I enjoyed reading about the other three hybrids and found each of their characters well thought out and fun. I especially couldn't stand (which is a sign of good writing) Blake, the wealthy snot who has so many issues. It is nice to see him change as the story progresses.

Then there is the weird hotel owner, Stuart. I liked that I couldn't figure out much about him and didn't know if he was a good or bad guy. The author uses him to introduce more information about the Deltaite (the bad aliens) and their world.

Overall, a nice, action filled ride that mixes sci-fi and fantasy. I'm really looking forward to the next book now that all four of our Chosen are fighting together. 5 stars!

This is the second installment in The Chosen series. It picks up the story of Juliet and Troy as they leave Arizona and make their way to the New York City in hopes of finding out more information about Juliet’s Chosen Status. We are also introduced to Connor, Blake and Akari, The remaining chosen from around the world. They recieve training and more information about their mission, but all is not what they seem, and they need to be careful about they trust.

I, sadly, missed out on the first book of this series. An oversight, I hope to soon correct. While it was obvious that I dropped into the middle of a moving story, it wasn’t hard to keep up. Flashbacks and exposition kept me up to date on the previous part of the story, while adding insight and texture to current story.

The group of chosen are a diverse bunch and each adds something great to the mix. It was an enjoyable adventure. The authors have created a brilliant world, with a unique take on what could be considered a tired genre. Kids ages 10 and up should very much enjoy reading this, though the relationships between the characters will appeal more to Jr. high kids and up.

A great young adult book with a new plot line. In continuing on their journey, Juliet Wildfire Stone and her best friend Troy Buckhorn make some big decisions and discover even more exciting and frightening things about Juliet's powers and what is supposed to be her destiny as Alpha in the Order of the Twisted Arrows. The book took me somewhere that I didn't see coming which was refreshing after reading so many predictable young adult books lately. I really enjoyed getting to know the other teenagers that they meet up with that are also "twisteds." They each had unique abilities and different back grounds which were enjoyable to read about. I also appreciated that the book wasn't full of distracting, unnecessary teenage bedroom situations. What little love relationship discussion was mild and appropriate and didn't take away from the story. I would feel comfortable recommending this to any teenager (or adult) wanting to go on a suspenseful ride. I think the only thing I had a hard time with in the second book was a few violent situations in which people were murdered. If you are sensitive to that be mindful.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion, which this was.

Juliet and Troy are on the run, following the path of Juliet’s destiny, laid out by her grandfather, Sicheii. Together they meet up with the other Chosen to begin their training. Juliet is discovering her new powers at an alarming pace, which leaves her wondering how much human is left in her anyway? Will she lose her identity completely? And what about the Deltites, is she really powerful enough to defeat them before they turn humanity into a cosmic pawn?

Book 2 in the Chosen series follows up with newly discovered hybrid Juliet as she struggles to carry out her destiny. I thought it was well written and insightful, exploring teenage insecurities a little too accurately in some cases. Pulling in the group dynamic was a little clunky at the beginning, particularly for a novel written largely in the first person, but I really enjoyed their interactions. Incidentally, I don’t think you will miss much if you accidentally start with this one - it stands well on its own and gives a lot of backstory without being obnoxious about it. You get sucked in pretty quickly, and I’m looking forward to the next in the series.

This is the second book in the Chosen series. I reviewed Wind Catcher here. In this book we find Juliet and Troy trying to locate the other “chosen”. This is the only way they can battle the Deltaite and have a chance of winning. Juliet and her friends must each learn to control the special ability or ‘gift’ they have. Juliet has a gift of “seeing visions” yet she doesn’t trust herself enough with her gift. This is what makes this book stand out among others with similar plot lines. You have characters, who have a gift, yet they are not robotic. They are very dimensional and fleshed out. They are flawed and we the reader are privy to their flaws. This makes them a character the reader can relate to.
There is enough here to make you wonder if they will be able to save the world; just enough to keep you coming back for more. Definitely an author you want to watch.

I am looking forward to the final book in the trilogy, Scorched Souls. As far as I’m concerned it can’t come soon enough.

OKAY, I LOVE THIS. I LOVE CONNOR. I LOVE TROY. WHAT IS LIFE, I CAN'T CHOOSE HELP.

Well, I definitely love the additional characters. I love the flow of the story. So far, I think this series will just go on one road - the better for the better.

All about Stuart was predictable and even now, Sydney doesn't make sense to me. And Connor feels like Nine to me. I love Nine. Troy is more of... Troy. He's unique and I love him. Jules became so much more and I love how she finally grew into the shoes she's gifted. Akari is special in a super adorable way. Like, Ten. But she's the same age as the rest so not exactly like Ten but you know what I mean. And Blake... he's so adorable. Okay, I'm shipping him and Akari. NOBODY CAN STOP ME.

This book continues where book 1 left off. I enjoyed this continuation of the Chosen story. It was a while since I read book one so I had to dig in my memory to follow along. When the book switched to another character at the start of the novel, I was confused thinking I missed something in my memory so I wish it was a little clarified at the beginning of this tale. I was also turned off by the obvious plot drops about 65% through the book. I know this is a YA book, but I felt it was a tad simplified/lacking. However, with all that said I did like the story line, I really, really enjoyed the mental talks with her grandfather and I liked the introduction and involvement of the non-Chosen characters, especially Troy's cousin and his extended family.

Overall a good read and I look forward to reading the next book in this series. Actual rating 3.5 stars.

I received this book from publisher for review.

YA sci-fi that just keeps getting better.

This review is from: Brink of Dawn (A Chosen Novel Book 2) (Kindle Edition)
This book is even better than the first in the series. The four chosen come together in New York and start working on their gifts and working together. Troy is still the ever faithful friend to Juliet who is more than alpha. Her powers keep growing and it seems to frightening her. It's their job to save the world from evil aliens and the encounters are brutal. I highly recommend this book. I am anxious to read the next to the conclusion. *I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review*
