Rate this book
After her mother abandoned her when she was just fifteen, Dove fled the only life she’d known with her younger sister, Serenity, frightened that the authorities would tear them both apart.
Leaving behind a life of poverty and constant hardship with the group of travelers she had grown up with, Dove has no choice but to turn to a life of debauchery and prostitution to feed their bellies and provide them with shelter and security.

Fast forward ten years and life is so very different. Dove, now a world famous, high class escort receives a job that will change her life forever.
Her once best friend and fellow traveler, Flick O’Kane, now a Hollywood star, hires Dove to accompany him to a charity ball, unaware just who exactly this premium whore really is.

Both their lives come together in an explosion of sex, drugs and secrets. The friendship they once held close is about to be tested when their past threatens to rip them both apart and endangers not just their own lives but the very life Dove has broken her own soul for – Serenity’s.

***WARNING***
This story is not for the fainthearted. It includes scenes of non-consensual sex, forced prostitution, drug abuse and violence.

***** 5 SIDEBOTTOM IS AMAZING Stars *****

This book is FANTASTIC!!
I am so glad that I ended my 2015 reading year with this one!!
If you love crazy, heart twisting, secrets, lies, murder, sexual hottness, devoted passion. a woman that can kick ass and good old fashion love....THIS IS IT!!!

“Men flock to you because you’re stunning,” he whispered. Tears, unwanted tears, filled my eyes and I blinked them back. “But me…” His hands slid from my cheeks and into my hair, pushing it from my face and clearing a path for my tears. “I see the beauty that lies beneath all the horror, Dove. I see the brilliance of your soul.”

 photo dove_zpsuofq7xdc.jpg

Dove was dealt a shitty hand at a very young age. Her druggy mother left her on her 15th birthday. Leaving her to survive an already crappy home life, she also had to take care of her little sister Serenity.

Dealing with rape and loving a man, her best friend, Flick, she never had a chance with. Dove did the one thing she had to do to survive, leave the life she knew. Leaving was the hardest thing she did. Leaving meant she turned herself over to the hands of evil to create a life for her sister to be safe and thrive.

Ren and I slid from the campsite, our hands clasped tightly and my heart as numb as the frost on the ground.

And we never looked back.
And I left my soul with him.

10 years later, Flick is the most wanted actor around.

 photo flick_zps9o9trekv.jpg

He should be living the most fabulous life but that is furthest from the truth. After finding out his wife was cheating on him with his best friend from the paparazzi, Flick is spending his free time with a little drugs and alcohol.

Needing a date for an upcoming charity, he tells his rep to hire the most expensive call girl he can find.

Flick doesn't see his past is about to come crashing into him head on. His date for the night, his one true love....Dove.

Being reunited doesn't mean a rekindling of love because secrets are attached to each that brings out guilt. The love that is present, has a hard time fighting thru the guilt and walls.

 photo love_zps20wq5h47.jpg

The love they feel for each other can only be held by the side for so long. All the secrets in the world can't contain the fire and lust they have always head for each other. Finally letting go of all the negativity holding them back...they give into their hearts.

 photo finally_zps4p4gv3lz.jpg

One night was all it was supposed to be for Dove, she was facing a past looking for her debt to be repaid. This was her goodbye to the man that held her heart.

Dove never expected her debt to involve the people she loved the most.

The finale of this book.....SIMPLY FABULOUS!!

The secrets that are revealed are not anything I was expecting. Be ready for twists and turns!!

"A whisper touches the soul," he whispered, "And I need your soul to feel the very depth of my love for you."

Sidebottom writing at her best!!

Well I saw the thing comin' out of the sky
It had the one long horn, one big eye
I commenced to shakin' and I said "ooh-eee"
It looks like a purple eater to me

It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
(One-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater)
A one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me (One eye?)

Well he came down to earth and he lit in a tree
I said Mr. Purple People Eater, don't eat me
I heard him say in a voice so gruff
I wouldn't eat you 'cause you're so tough

It was a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
One-eyed, one-horned flyin' purple people eater
One-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me (One horn?)

I said Mr. Purple People Eater, what's your line
He said it's eatin' purple people and it sure is fine
But that's not the reason that I came to land
I want to get a job in a rock and roll band

Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flyin' purple people eater
Pigeon-toed, under growed, flyin' purple people eater
(We wear short shorts)
Flyin' purple people eater
Sure looks strange to me

And then he swung from the tree and he lit on the ground
He started to rock, really rockin' around
It was a crazy ditty with a swingin' tune
(Sing a boop boop aboopa lopa lum bam boom)

Well bless my soul, rock and roll, flyin' purple people eater
Pigeon-toed, under growed, flyin' purple people eater
I like short shorts

Flyin' little people eater
Sure looks strange to me (Purple People?)

And then he went on his way, and then what do ya know
I saw him last night on a TV show
He was blowing it out, a really knockin' em dead
Playin' rock and roll music through the horn in his head

...what's this got to do with Dove? ...it's as farfetched, wacky, unbelievable and filled with the color purple. As in, the ending of Dove had me thinking to myself...
...it was a silver-eyed, one-whore, flyin' purple prose puker.

This is a dark and intense second-chance-romance that twists and turns with some big surprises. It’s a heavy read and there’s quite a bit of nastiness going on but it’s not too descriptive, and ultimately finishes well with a redeeming love story woven through. I didn’t love it, but it’s a good read.

Dove and Flick grew up together and were best friends in newly-declared love when Dove’s life fell to pieces and she was forced to pack up her younger sister and run, leaving Flick behind. Ten years later, there’s not a lot that Dove hasn’t done in order to protect her sister, but she has survived it all and is now one of the highest paid prostitutes in London. Flick is now a hugely popular movie star whose personal life is in chaos (his wife has been cheating on him with his best friend), and when he hires himself a (drama-free) escort to accompany him to a charity ball, he is stunned when Dove appears at his door.

Dove is the girl that Flick has never recovered from, and though he is still incredibly angry that she left the way she did, now that he has her back in his life, he has no intention of letting her go.

I wanted to take her hand and lead her through life, cherish her, and protect her from all the bad things.

“Men flock to you because you’re stunning,” he whispered … “But me … I see the beauty the lies beneath all the horror, Dove. I see the brilliance of your soul … And it’s so fucking radiant that it’s blinding.”

Dove has loved Flick her whole life, but she still has secrets, dangerous ones. Her life has been a nightmare, and as much as her heart aches for Flick, she doesn’t want to put him in danger by letting him into her world. But as much as she may try to resist, she is powerless to push him away, and in a series of heartbreaking and sometimes disturbing flashbacks, she opens up and the story of her past is slowly revealed.

“Your heart was too big for mine, Flick. I would have broken it, and the devastation to both of us would have been too horrendous to ever come back from.”

The story shifts between the past and the present, and it’s an angsty and emotional ride as Dove and Flick reconnect (code – sexy time), but when the dangers of Dove’s past threatens the people she loves the most, how far will she be willing to go to protect them?

I prayed with everything to come and everything gone that my life wouldn’t cripple and annihilate this beautiful man.

This is my first book by this author, and I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect going in. I liked the concept of the story, and it was certainly unpredictable, but I didn’t feel it as much as I wanted, and I found some parts of the story were unrealistic, or just didn’t make sense - . It was also a really short book, and as much as I enjoy a quick read, I think I would have enjoyed this one more if there was a bit more time spent getting to know the characters.

So yeah, dark and twisty and full of surprises, and though I didn’t really feel the romance, or feel overly invested in the story, I still enjoyed it.

3 stars.

UNIQUE AND HEARTBREAKING!
How far would you go to save the ones you love?

Wow... this book sucked me in right from the start.
God, it's been sitting on my Kindle for three whole months! I have no idea why I haven't picked it up earlier. My mistake...
If you like reading about murder, secrets, passion, undeniable chemistry and damaged heroes, then look no further! This book has it all!

It was not as dark as I initially thought it's gonna be, but let's just say it's dark-ish, full of twist and one hell of an emotional rollercoaster.
One thing I really liked, and I have to mention is D.H. Sidebottom writing.
Pure fact that some of the scenes that would normally be quite hard to process (rape/violence) were written with such good taste and not very descriptive.
Sometimes such scenes should just be kept unwritten and left to the imagination of the reader, and that is exactly what this author did.

So, this is another 5 star read for me, and I can't wait to see what else D.H has in store! :)

I liked this one. DH Sidebottom can write a great story. There was one thing that had me a bit frustrated is that there was a strange turn towards the very end of the story that to me really didn't seem relevant.

"A scream can break the heart. A whisper can fracture the soul."
What a quote to start a book with. It instantly grabbed me and I knew I was beginning another epic journey, courtesy of one of my all-time favourite authors!

Losing someone you love is always hard but when you believe it's for the greater good, you make do. You never forget but you try and make the best of the situation.
Dove has no choice but to relinquish her soul to save the one person who means the most to her.

This tale is filled with ups and downs. I've laughed at Dove's spunk, her feistiness and cried when it all seems so hopeless.

This is a truly emotional account of a strong woman who is determined to provide for the person she cares for, no matter what that means. Becoming numb to the world she inhabits, she's carved a place for herself but one slip could end it all.

That slip no only reacquaints her with someone from her long suppressed past but wrenches the memories and pain to the forefront....and her more recent past is hot on her heels too.

I reached a point in this book, where I was actually scared. Scared to keep reading, scared not to.

If you've read any of DH Sidebottom's books, you'll know that they are truly beautifully written. Always evocative, always emotionally draining and always, frankly unforgettable and this book delivers on all those expectations. It rips you open and lays your emotions bare.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough! Another stunning masterpiece from this talented author!

Tragic and a little bit twisted. Dove is an erotic standalone that will appeal to readers in this genre.

At fourteen, Dove's life has been one challenge after another, but there's more to come. She's left to take care of her younger sister, Ren. Leaving her best friend, Flick, behind, Dove and Ren set out on the journey of their lives.

A decade passes and Dove has become a high-class escort known as Madame. One night, her client is Flick, the boy she left behind.

Flick is now a famous actor, dragging carnage of his own. Never in a million years did he expect to run into Dove, especially under these circumstances.

Their first meeting is not the reunion either of them planned.

Dove is an amazing woman, always caring for others and putting their needs ahead of her own. When the present and past collide, Dove has choices to make. A happy ever after might be a false hope and fantasy because devastating secrets stand in the way.

The story uses one of my favourite literary devices: flashbacks from the past to the present in order to flesh out the story. You learn so much about the characters: what drives them and the secrets they carry.

Highly recommended.

D H Sidebottom is back and this time with an erotic stand alone that you can really get your teeth into. Dove is 15 when her mum decides to up and leave, leaving her to take care of her younger sister Ren. Knowing Social services will seperate them, Dove makes the decision to leave the caravan park where they live so they can stay together. Leaving her best friend Flick, who she's been in love with for forever is the hardest thing she's had to do but she puts her sister first. Fast forward ten years...Dove is now a high class escort, she's made quite the name for herself in her profession and everything she's ever done has been for Ren. When she gets a new client the last person she's expecting to see is childhood friend Flick. Now a hot Hollywood film star who's going through a public divorce, Flick never thought he'd see Dove again. He does not handle their initial meeting well. Full of questions, resentment, guilt, anger and even more questions, he can't resist making Dove feel ashamed of herself and her life. I loved Dove. She's had a really bad life, always putting others, especially her sister, first. She's doing a job she doesn't like, she's never had a normal life and it's all been for Ren. Knowing her past is catching up with her, she won't let Flick get too close. He, however, thinks differently. I loved Dove and Flicks relationship. With flashbacks thrown in, we find out what secrets are tying them together, while at the same time pushing them apart. Another brilliant book from one of my all time favourite authors.

Normally I am a huge fan of D.H. Sidebottom, but this book didn't do it for me.

I've never been one to expect perfection from an Author, but I do expect the author to do research on the things they're writing about.

In the book, Flick not only did cocaine once but twice in the same evening. The last line being done very shortly before going to be bed and falling straight to sleep.
Now I'm no expert on cocaine...but it is a stimulant and it's unbelievable that anyone could have fallen sleep in that short time span.

A little research could have made a world of difference.

Again. I'm a fan of this author and will continue to read her other books.

Another hit from Sidebottom!!

“A whisper touches the soul,” he whispered against the heat of my skin. “And I need your soul to feel the very depth of my love for you.”

Erotic. Twisted. Slightly Dark. And full of twists. I loved it!
A nail biter filled with pain, tragedy, and ultimately love. This one is lighter than some of her other books, but make no mistake, it's still dark in some parts.

DH Sidebottom delivers action packed darkness, badass heroines, and that unpredictable storyline. I love her stories, the secrets, the plot-twists that slap you upside your head.

Sexy, erotic and dark.
Dove and Ren left at an early age by their mother have to fend for themselves.
Dove leaves Flick behind a friend who really loves her.
They are taken in and looked after but Dove has to pay in other ways.
Plenty of action and the story really gripped me with Victor and Felix. I am glad it was left to the imagination of what Felix did to Dove.
For a dark book this left me at the end surprisingly with a smile on my face.
Really enjoyed it.

..."I know for sure that whatever life threw at you, you did what you did to survive.....you’ve paid with your soul, Dove. No amount of money can ever reimburse that.”

A whisper touches the soul,” he whispered against the heat of my skin. “And I need your soul to feel the very depth of my love for you.”

This book started good, but I feel it got lost towards the middle somehow. There were many directions the author wanted to take, but it just made the story lose the depth that it began with.

The tragic story of Dove who endured so much pain for the ones she loved.

5 fabulous stars.

I read this book from beginning to end through to the small hours of the morning. Awesome. I was riveted.
Dove, her sister Ren (Serenity) and the boy/man Dove has loved from a mear child, Flick. The story starts in the past and then lands ten years later.
So much goes on. My stomach hurt with the stress of the lives they endured. Everything comes to an explosive climax.
Superb. Loved every word. Made me hold my breath, cry, smile and giggle and everything in between.
What a story. Love, love love it!

Book Review - Dove by D H Sidebottom - 5 Second Chance at Life Stars

Dove was my first read of 2016 and a great one to start with. Your heart will break when you experience everything that Dove has been through since her birth mother left her and her sister Ren, and they went on the run to avoid being separated in the system.

You will slowly find out just how much Dove sacrificed to make sure that Ren got the life her sister felt she deserved. And there were many different types of ways she paid to ensure that happened.

One of those ways was leaving behind the boy she loved. Dove had been in love with Flick for years and has to leave him behind when they go on the run. Skip to present day and their worlds collide again. Can Dove and Flick both escape their past and build something again in the future?

This book is so much more than a second chance romance. It's a tale of the extremes you would go to to save the one you love. And there are plenty of surprises in Doves past in terms of what that consists of. To say more, would strip away from your experience so I'm just going to leave it with saying Dove is yet another brilliant example from Dawn of taking someone in a dire situation and managing to make it poetic, yet dark and twisty all at the same time.

So .......What happens when Dove now a world famous, high class escort,
Comes face to face with her once best friend fellow traveler,
Flick now a billionaire and Hollywood star.

This is a standalone I was hooked from the start.
Dove is 15 when her life falls apart leaving her to look after Ren her sister who she will do ANYTHING to Protect Ren,knowing social services will split them both up Dove decides to leave the only life she has ever known so they can stay together.

Go forward 10 years and life is so very different for Dove as she is now a world famous, high class escort. Then one night she receives a job that will change her life forever as she never expected it to be the one person she left so many years ago. Her once best friend and fellow traveler Flick, whose life is also so very different.

This book has twists and turns it has some very dark parts.
As always D H makes characters you can’t help but fall in love with such a great story.

This wasn't too bad of a dark read. It sucked me right in from the beginning and kept me interested throughout. I loved the twists that I didn't see coming, especially Dove's reveal of why she left Flick behind at the beginning of their story. I loved the ending too. My only complaint is I wish I had felt more chemistry between Flick and Dove. For me, I just didn't feel enough of a believable emotional connection between them. If I could have felt that, this would have definitely been a 4 star all the way for me.

I loved it. Dove’s story is moving, heartbreaking. Her mother leaves her and her sister Ren when Dove turns 15 and Ren is 8. She runs away from home bc she doesn’t want social services to separate her from her sister, and leaves behind her best friend Flick, a 19 year-old-boy, which she has been in love with for a very long time.
Dove is forced to whore herself soon after to be able to give her sister a roof food, medicines... And for years it seems that the thing works. But when Ren turns 14, something happens and that is the first step for Dove to lose her soul.
10 years later, Flick is a famous actor who faces the end of his marriage ( after 4 months he learns that his wife is fucking his best friend) and decides to go to a party accompanied by one of the best hookers of the city, which turns out to be Dove.

“ I was angry with her. I was angry at myself. I was furious with her mother, with our past. With the fact that she never wanted me like I wanted her. I couldn’t keep up with the emotions storming me, and every time I opened my mouth I couldn’t seem to stop myself hurting her.”

Flick has a hard time accepting Dove’s new life, and he doesn’t understand why she and her sister need several bodyguards, and Dove wants to protect him from her old life. But both can’t help feeling what they feel even if it hurts them.

“I see the beauty that lies beneath all the horror, Dove. I see the brilliance of your soul.” My throat hurt, my heart beating so hard I was scared I was going to drop to my knees before him. “And it’s so fucking radiant that it’s blinding.”

“Men. I’d been beneath so many that I had lost count of them. But none, absolutely none, had ever made me feel so good, so desperate, so crazy. I wanted to die beneath him. I wanted to give him my last breath, grant him the final beat of my heart. It was his for the taking. My soul, my heart, my past, and my future. It was all his. Just like it always had been. The agony of my life incinerated the remains of my blackened heart when Flick leaned into my ear and whispered, “I love you Dove Holland. I’ve always loved you. And I always will.”And then he followed me over into hell. His climax was as full of grief as mine.

This is a real beautiful story, with many surprises, Dove is a real badass.

In the first 50% of this book, I thought the female main character Dove was a prostitute, plain and simple but boy was I wrong! There is a much deeper story behind what she does for a living, a reason why she spread her legs for 10 years, and the reason is touching, dark and intriguing. Intertwined with Dove’s story is a tale of second chance romance between her and Flick. He’s a famous actor now but at one point, when Dove was 15 and Flick 19, they were each other’s first love. The reason for their 10 year separation and their unexpected reunion are fascinatingly complex.

My main complaint about this book is that it wasn’t a bit darker. DOVE is far from being a sugary sweet story but it could’ve been darker and IMO better if Sidebottom had been more descriptive rather than writing fade to black scenes such as the following:
“And then he broke me in ways I cannot repeat to you even now.”
And though I appreciate that Sidebottom was able to write a complete story in a brief amount of pages, I would’ve liked more information on Ren and Viktor.

When the only option Dove has to save her sister, protecting her innocence and giving her a future, is to sell her body as well as her soul, she does what she has to do, detaching herself from the experience, numbing her mind, and praying that she doesn't lose every piece of herself before she can reclaim her identity. Dove's life has not been her own for eight years; she's been owned by a number of men who used and abused her any and every way they deemed fit, and even after she got out from underneath the devil himself, her life is still not hers to do with what she wants because the danger than surrounds her and her sister could claim them at any time.

Although many men have used her body for their own pleasure, there's only one man Dove would willingly give it to, and unexpectedly, 10 years after Dove left him regardless of how much she loved him and he loved her, Flick O'Kane reenters her life with his own past - one filled with mistakes and regrets and until they can be open and honest with one another and reveal their secrets and truths, they both will continue to live lives that aren't the ones that they want because despite the fact that their feelings for one another are still present, their baggage may be insurmountable, especially when there's someone who wants Dove dead and will go through anyone to get it done.

I know going into a D.H. Sidebottom novel that its darkness will consume me and leave me searching for a way for the hero and heroine to get out of their situation unscathed, even though I know that that never seems to be a possibility because there's too much danger and drama to wade through without losing at least a part of who they are at their core. But what Sidebottom's texts also prove is that there's beauty beneath the horror and even though people feel defined by their choices and actions, there's still a chance to be who they want as long as they find a balance and deal with the past.

Dove is an incredible heroine who makes the ultimate sacrifice for her sister, Ren, so that she can flourish despite what Dove has to do to ensure that outcome. Dove is strong and intelligent, and she is perfectly aware of what people in society think of her, but she hardened her heart a long time ago and slips on her mask no matter how much shame and self hatred she feels. Dove's past is told in flash backs, resulting in Flick and readers learning how she ended up being the high paid escort that she became and what she suffered through in order to take her life back at least a little bit so many years later. Dove's story is not an easy one to hear, but it exposes who she is beneath the make-up, the flawless hair, and killer wardrobe a woman who wishes she could be with the man she's always loved and keep her sister safe and happy.

Flick O'Kane took his own path away from his shitty childhood, but even with the fame and money, he's never felt complete because he's always wondered why Dove left him without a word. I don't blame Flick for how he reacts when he sees Dove again after so many years, but he also frustrates me because he can't see past his own issues...his own regrets, which almost costs him everything he's always wanted.

Dove is a dark and gritty read that illustrates the sacrifices people are willing to make for those they love. The story line takes a number of twists and turns and the revelations are at times perplexing as well as shocking. Dove, Ren, and Flick have already paid a high enough price and now it's time to balance out the scales and even though it may be done in ways that are frowned upon, as long as their futures become ones they can actually realize, nothing should stop them from making it happen.

Dove was not the best read. Most of my problem with it was the writing. It was telling more than showing. The characters didn't make sense to me, they didn't feel real. I know what I was told they were or what they did, but I didn't actually believe that based on the writing of said character. So it was just not that good of a read for me.

Dove has been in love with Flick for what seems like forever. She had the biggest crush on him growing up, but she is a few years younger than he is. She didn't know that he was in love with her as well, but because of the age difference he was biding his time until he could say something. Only he never gets his chance as her mother abandons her and she runs off with her sister, Serenity. She would do anything for Serenity and is determined to keep her safe. Now here was the first thing I didn't really understand - why didn't she take Flick's help? He was all ready to run away with them and help them survive, but the book just told me that she couldn't because of something and off she went. When I did find out at the end why she couldn't I didn't really understand why she went off by herself, but that was the problem with the book as whole so...

Anyways the story picks up ten years after Dove runs off with her sister. Flick has become famous and is getting divorced from his horrible wife of only a short period of time. She is getting nasty and he wants to try and hurt her so he hires the best call girl he can for a gala. Only he didn't know that would be Dove. When she shows up to accompany him of course things are a bit tense. He is angry, angry that she ran away and angry that this is how she is surviving. Angry because he could have helped her, but she didn't want his help. It was not that good. Really I don't have an issue with Dove turning tricks for money - she has become one of the best in the business and only works for high end clients. She has made something of herself and is famous in her own right. I didn't buy it though. She didn't seem like she was. I don't know why, but the writing just felt off.

So of course there are going to be a lot of issues to work out and Flick will have to accept how she has been keeping food on the table, but they both still have feelings for the other so they will get there. Now there is also this other issue of Dove not being able to get out because someone is after her and wants to kill her and she has to stay a call girl to try and stay alive or something. Only she finally decides to fight for her life and stop running and...that whole thing was...not the best. Again not believable. The bad guys didn't seem that bad or that capable and it just didn't work for me. You get Dove's whole backstory, what happened to lead her to today, but it was just eh to me. I don't know. I should have cared more as it told me it was not sunshine and roses, but I just didn't. So this was not the book for me. I didn't really care about the characters and they/the situations just didn't feel real.

Dove revolves around the love that was lost and found. The first chapter tells the beautiful Dove’s story when she was aged fifteen, abandoned by her mother and left to look after her little sister. Fearing her sister would be taken away from her, she does the only thing she can do; leave everything and a certain someone behind and run.

Flick O'Kane is a well-known actor and the man from Dove’s Past. He has just had the misfortune of finding out something very disagreeable. Feeling angry and wanting to show the world he doesn’t care what is happening in his personal life, he organises an escort-cum-prostitute to be his date for a charity event he has to attend. What he got was a high-class madam in the form of Dove. It was easy for me to imagine both of them standing there with a look of utter shock and horror on their faces as bitter memories rise to the surface.

In the intervening years, Dove had not had an easy life. Living on the streets at fifteen with a young child was not the way to live for any human being. Desperate measures led to desperate actions and the only way for she can survive was to sell her soul to the devil. And a devil he surely was. This Devil’s name was Viktor.

Viktor groomed young women for the pleasure of other men. Dove had caught his eye and became his go to girl. Even though she still entertained others, she was special to him in the respect that he gave her the security she needed to make sure her sister was still by her side, left alone and not touched. However, this was not to be the case and that fact started a chain of events that will leave you shocked and surprised at the level people will go to seek retribution.
Throughout the book, the author took you back in time so that Dove could explain what had happened in her life. This helped me comprehend just how she got herself into the position she was now in. Poor Flick was shocked and appalled by her story and blamed himself for some of the things that she had to endure. There are a lot of secrets, anguish and pain in this story that will eventually come to light and make for an interesting read.

I asked myself if they would become closer together and realize that the love they once felt for each other had a chance. This was not my only worry though. There was still that one very big obstacle they had to get past to reach their happy ever after. Will they or won't they reach it?

This was a true love story that made me smile and cry. A teenage girl should not have to go through what Dove did and it broke my heart to see such sufferance. Ms Sidebottom, congratulations to you. You sucked me right into this story from the very first page. My head was telling me it's not real but my heart truly believed it. I found your rewinding technique a great way to tell Dove’s story and thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Thank you for a most pleasurable five star read.

DH Sidebottom is one of my very favorite authors, and to most, that’s no secret. She just keeps excelling to higher levels of awesome and with this latest erotic standalone, Dove, she shows why she’s quickly becoming the queen of all things tragic and twisted, and I absolutely loved it!

Dove is 14 years old when her already crappy life takes a turn that will change her life forever, and brings along with it circumstances that are beyond unfathomable. She’s left to take care of her younger sister Ren, with nowhere to go, they begin their journey, which turns into the ultimate test of survival. Leaving her best friend Flick behind, it’s the hardest thing she’s ever faced, but feels she’d just drag him down and doesn’t want that on her conscience.

Ten years have passed since she ran with her sister in tow, and to make ends meet and support them both, she’s become a very well known high-class escort aka madame. Walking in one night to greet a new client, she’s literally floored to see Flick standing in front of her. He’s now a famous actor with a boatload of issues, and never in a million years thought he’d see HIS Dove again. The first meeting between the two of them goes horribly wrong, and emotions from the past come rearing their ugly head, and things are definitely said out of spite on Flick’s part.

Dove is an amazing women, always putting others first, and doing not so nice things to keep a roof over her and Ren’s head, but she does it out of pure love for her sister, who is her reason for living and not giving up. With her past finally looming in the present, will she be able to protect everyone she loves, including Flick, who’s seen to it to involve himself.

The flashbacks are a huge part of this story, and reveal the devastating secrets both Dove and Flick have tried to keep hidden all these years. Absolutely amazing story and once again, DH has gutted me!

I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review. Reviewer for 2 girls who love books.

so I'm just gonna say that I'm a huge massive D H Sidebottom fan. and that I love and read anything by her and that she is my all time favorite author. And I honestly loved Dove.. to which I read in about 4 hours coz I was so glued to it and that I just escaped into the whirlwind of this book.

So if you previously have read Crave you may have stumbled across a little snippet of Dove, when I read this I was like OMFG this is gonna be EPIC. like when you first picked up HofS. The way that the book completely sucked you in and took you to a different type of book heaven. through the bad and good, the twisted and truth of love, the pain and heartbreaking, the complete dam right dirty and flithly, but the way 2 people fall so deeply in love that they would do anything for each other. This is what you get from Dove.

Dove to me is the best book to end 2015 with and it will go with a bang. I don't wanna but too much into this review as I hate spoilers and that you just gotta read this book.

So Dove follows the story of Dove./Bliss.. The strong, protective, loving, caring, ballsy, and dam right sexy and dangerous Dove.. my god this woman is amazing. her past is so heartbreaking and is the reason she is who she is today that you honestly just fall and cry over her story and past..
Flick O'Kane.. Mr sexy on a pogo stick.. my god this man will have you wanting more and a cold shower. He's always been in love and its never left.. but it left him..Flick is defo some book candy.. Drooll..

Flick and Dove have a past.. After all the years they are put together in a unusual way. But is it enough to let go on or to grab hold with both hands. only you can find out. Hahahaah.

All I'm gonna say is that you gotta read this book and you will not be dissatisfied. D H Sidebottom you are a writing goddess. Thank you for bringing/writing a bloody brilliant and epic book..
