I married my best friend, the love of my life, we have two beautiful daughters, and I love serving my country. On my spare time, I love scribbling and making my words come to life. I love writing romance stories about couples that go through trials and come out stronger. Love is never easy, but it's worth all the hard work. 3% "Straight up, I bought this because of the polar reviews. There's absolutely no in-between at all! I mean, it's a trip to see reviewers who like everything be all NOPE and others who are 5 stars. Right now I already want to tell this girl to get her life. Who cares if you're the only black person in a restaurant. That's how a big chunk of my life is without trying, NO ONE CARES, HUN. Please get all of your life and with a quickness."

Does he have to cuss like a 12-year-old? Oh, so I guess he just gets to leave work without saying a word. How can explicit sex scenes be so boring? It's like, "this happened, then this happened, then orgasm."

No, no, no. Between the son who needs a speech therapist, the immature, bipolar 'ride or die' heroine, the 'trying so hard to be alpha, but is really just a complete jerk' hero and the totally unbelievable storyline of the mother abusing the kid, I'm going to have to pass. Life is wayyyy too short to read ridiculously BAD books.
I don't even know how the heroine survived the first unbelievably rude encounter to entertain the idea of even dating the hero. He's a complete asshat to her but touches her hand by accident and goosebumps tremble up her arm?? Really?? Was that common sense trying to make its way to her brain?? The Neanderthal like antics in the parking lot in chapter 1 that were all forgiven because he said he loved her. Asshole does not mean alpha! I would have felt bad for the heroine but she was an idiot too! Then it's a year later. No foundation for the relationship is shown, characters are discussed with a passing familiarity like we know who the hell they are. What?? Just bad all around. I couldn't take this book seriously. I couldn't even make it halfway.
This is the story of Shane, a federal agent and single father no longer with his "baby mama", and Larissa, a single HR consultant who is a self proclaimed "bad ass". The two meet as Larissa is stood up at a restaurant on Valentine's Day and Sean is trying to get a meal for his son during his visitation day. Sean barges his way to a seat at her table and subsequently into her life.
The story revolves around the crazy "baby mama" and her unwillingness to accept that Sean has a new woman in his life that he is serious about. There are also issues of racism and child abuse addressed as well as a few other surprises thrown in.
Overall I liked the story but I have to agree with other reviewers in saying that this story just didn't "sound" like the author. The sentences were lacking any depth, the flow was choppy and the sentence structure was more like something you would find in a book for younger readers. There wasn't really any depth to the characters because we were told some things about them while other things were completely left out. (I was more than halfway through the story before I figured out exactLy what the hero did for a living while this played an important role in the story.) As a result, I didn't connect with the characters and didn't find myself really caring what happened to them.
The writing felt like this was something done early in Ancelli's career and not like the more recent works that have been published that have you walking away not only having read a great book but with topics that make you think and feel long after you read the last word and turned your eReader off.
For me this one was definitely a miss. I hate to say that when the author has so many other books out there that are really great reads but this one just didn't do it for me.
Recommend? I would have to pass on this one and steer someone to one of the other great books this author has published.
It starts off stupid and only got stupider. It filled with so much useless drama that after awhile it stops making sense plus the lead characters are totally unlikable. I thought about getting a refund so I could but some Tylenol.
OMG! What the ...what did I just read?! This book's tone was like a bad daytime soap with a lot of drama for no reason. I honestly also didn't get the chemistry between the two main characters.... Also the whole abuse aspect was poorly integrated/executed in the story. I just felt like the author added in this aspect to give the book /hero some depth but treated the issue in an after-school special manner. I honestly flipped through the book so I can't say whether the issues around this were resolved but I'm inclined to believe even if it was I would have been disappointed regardless with the way it was handled.
Shane and LaRissa stole my heart from the first snippet in ARC until the last word in the book. Only You is a story about a man that felt unlovable and not deserving of good things since his childhood was an epically miserable situation. He met and fell in love on Valentine's Day when he saw and subsequently met LaRissa.
LaRissa had a wonderful childhood and was in a good place. Her dinner date stood her up but being the string woman she is, she treated her self to dinner. As fate would have it, her Superman was at the same restaurant with his mini me Grayson.
Buy the book to see what happens between them on their journey to happily ever after. Your money will be well spent and you will enjoy reading it and know it was another story written for only you by the amazing Ancelli. Job well done.
Ancelli hits another one out of the park. I had been waiting on this book for a while, as I had already fallen in love with Larissa, Shane, and Grayson months ago. This story is about finding love and overcoming whatever obstacles it takes for that love. There are of course some sad moments as we delve into abuse. I've said it before and I'll say it again....Ancelli is a master at twists and turns as you will discover because we get to reacquaint ourselves with some of my favorite past characters from previous books. Of course I also have to add some new characters to my book villian list lol. There is a strong sense of family in this book which I adore. Ancelli has done it again, now I patiently wait on her next release. P.S...I loved the "hint-hint" at the end.
Great as always Ancelli... I truly enjoyed reading Larissa and Shane's story, the good and the bad. Character Chemistry, as always with your stories, is on point. If you are familiar with Ancelli's work, you know what I'm talking about; however, if you're not, it's time to find out. I'm praying that there is a sequel because I'm dying to read more about John and Sophia, actually all of the characters. Thanks for continuing to share your talents. T
Great book, It was great to finally get the entire story of Shane and Rissa. The surprise connection to another series was an awesome treat. I am now anticipating a follow up story to connecting book. Grayson melted my heart and I wanted to punch Liza in the face ever time she was mentioned. This story is a true definition of the quote Love Conquers All. Great job Ancelli
Shane Morgan was a stubborn hardheaded man who spoke his mind. His only regret was choosing the wrong woman to be his son's mother. Liza was a selfish, racist beotch of a woman and who could not move on. Grayson was the love of his life and Shane would do anything to protect his son. His one wish in life was to have a true family after experiencing his abusive childhood. He'd prayed for God to send him an angel to save him. He thought God and his grandmother had forgotten about him. That was until God saw fit to allowed him to crash on Larissa Edward's "you've been stood up" Valentine's Day date. She immediately fell in love with his son Grayson, and he with her despite what Liza tried to do. She became Shane's ride or die chick and fell for both Shane and his son.
Ancelli wrote a serious themed story that was full of drama and some action. Despite this book covering matters concerning an Interracial relationship, an unrelenting ex, a love interest with a young child, and child abuse. I loved how she depicts Larissa, who is a strong, quick-witted, educated woman with a sense of humor that I love. My only problem with this book is the verbal manner of Grayson. For a three and a half-year-old, his speech should not be as babyfied as he is written. What I do want to see is the back story of John and Sophia Morgan. Have I missed it or is it coming?
Larissa and Shane met by design. Their love was meant to be. Grayson is such a beautiful child and Larissa loved him more than she thought possible. No child deserves to be abused and made to feel worthless. The love of family and friends makes the fall worth it. There was some serious ugliness and hateful actions and words. The good thing is it all worked out. Not a perfect happily ever after but the beginning of a lot of love and family expansion. Very well done.
I got so wrapped up in yet another convoluted Ancelli tale I hated for it to end. I would never have thought about putting these two together. And the author is never squeamish about portraying the good the bad or the ugly traits we humans possess. This is the 2nd Ancelli novel I have finished in the same evening. They are hard to put down once you start. Dive in peeps. You will love Shane & Larissa and how they fight for love and family. Bravo!👏
I have read this over and over, I forgot is there one that has Sophia out of hiding. I just bought Barely Breathing for the Kindle app, because I have a lot of the older books of Ancelli in another app. I wanted them in my Kindle app, now I have them all over in here, so I’m on a re-reading of mostly all of her story’s which is awesome 🙏🏾🥰🙏🏾🥰🙏🏾🥰🙏🏾
What can I say about this book? It is amazing. There are some interesting scenes and plot. Twists absolutely loved it all. Could not have asked for a better ending and I would totally recommend to anyone willing to read a story about love and triumph.
In Only You, author Ancelli, introduces us to Shane Morgan, a rough-around the edges, take no prisoners law enforcement office and his son Grayson. On Valentine's day they meet Larissa Edwards at a restaurant where she has been stood up and Shane invites himself and Grayson a set at her table. Thing start off rocky and first; however, by the end of the night Shane is calling it their first date and asking for her contact information.
Fast forward one-year later Shane and Larissa are still going strong in spite of Shane's baby mama drama. His ex-girlfriend Liz is a real piece of work. Shane and Larissa overcome the consistent trouble from Liz and what she did to Grayson, has Shane reaches out to his family who did not know he existed for help. Shane reached out to his brother John who he only knew a series of events (hope there is a story coming about this, if there already isn't) to help him with the storm Liz wanted to brew. In the end Shane, gained a family and he married the woman he found love with one Valentine's Day.
Loved this book. Loved everything about Shane. He comes from a traumatic childhood but doesn't play the blame game. Instead he preservers through hard work to ensure a positive future. But along the has attracted a crazy baby mamma. He handles that situation like an upstanding man, provides for his son without physical relations with the baby mama. He meets his perfect match on Valentine's Day, the same weekend his gets to spend time with his son. Shane and Larissa are each other's perfect matched. Their chemistry is explosive. They are hardccre for each other and one cannot mess with one without experiencing the raft of the other. Point in fact, Shane's exchange with the security guy at the playhouse for kids they'd taken Grayson to; Larissa's meeting with Liza at the credit union. Shane and Larissa are ride or die for each other. Really enjoyed reading their story. Bonus got an update on John and Sophia.
In Only You we have another page turner and I enjoyed how Ancelli brought awareness to sensitive subjects such as child abuse, interracial dating, prejudice and that sometimes the mother is not always the best parent for the child.
Larissa and Shane’s first meet was anything but smooth, from the very start you have ethnic differences, single father with known baby mama drama, Shane was arrogant, rude and complete with rough edges and Larissa was a confident, independent women that was able to stand up to Shane. They both brought their own issues to the table that was a recipe for an unhealthy start of a relationship. The author wrote their story to reflect that timing, love and mutual respect for each other gave them a bond that would withstand the things that were sure to come at them.
I pick Grayson to be my hero, he was adorable and the picture of innocence. Through his eyes you see we are not born prejudice, but it is taught.
Shane and Larissa are your modern day Bonnie and Clyde, the romance version. These two ride hard for each other; they always have the other's back and will take no prisoners when it comes to protecting their love and family.
Shane is an alpha to the core and Larissa is his perfect alpha queen. The love and sexiness oozes through your Kindle.
The most prevalent theme in an Ancelli book is family and this book is no exception. Shane thinks Larissa and his son is all the family he needs but he finds even more family his heart was craving for. The prayer Shane recited in the bathroom was so heartwarming....I cried while reading it. It was so poignant and soulful.
This is an excellent addition to my library and a definite must read for new readers. Kudos Author Ancelli!!!
I love this story of Larissa and Shane. From the very first meet, when Shane inserted himself and his cute son Grayson into Larissa's dinner, these two have been inseparable. Shane comes with baby mama drama in the form of Grayson's mother Liza. This woman takes nutcase to a whole nother level, she will do whatever it takes to break up Shane and Larissa. If you've read Barely Breathing, then you'll be very excited about Shane's revelation/secret when he reveals it. After an incident with Liza with Grayson, Shane and Larissa find themselves in full fighter mode for full custody for Grayson. Thanks to Shane's revelation his chances of achieving full custody is looking great. This is a must read!!!
First impression is never always how a person turns out to be. What is a Fact is that Shane is an Alpha male and what you see is what you get. When he loves he loves hard and takes care of those he loves. Throw in a feisty confident woman that is LaRissa and an adorable child that is Grayson. This is a story about fighting for the ones that you love and coming home. I was so happy to see some of the faces from the past. This is Ancelli strength weaving the romance and societal issues without being preachy. I love this writer and will read her to the end. One-click Ancelli fans and those who needs to be.
A beautifully written love story with an exciting series of events...
I love this authors work she keeps it real! When you first start to read this story you think Shane is one arrogant sob, but as you get to know the character and see how he loves his son and Larissa you fall in love with him just like Larissa did and Grayson is such a sweetheart you can't help falling for him either. I hate reading about child abuse, but in this story it was portrayed with th e sensitivity it required, this book is a must read with a HEA in the end, absolutely loved it and would recommend this to all readers who love a good love story!!!
This is the first book I have read by Ancelli and I really want to explore others, especially John and Sophia’s story. The story has a unique construction….when Shane and Larissa meet, he crashes her Valentine’s Day dinner where she has been stood up. He and his son join her and then the story picks up a year later and they are a couple. The mother of his son is still in the picture and causing all manner of mayhem. I like very much that while there is conflict….none of it pushes Shane and Larissa apart. https://theretiredreader.com/f/only-y...
What can I say through my tears of joy! Shane had a rotten childhood with abusive parents, Shane overcame all the negative issues of childhood To be an outstanding adult. Shane and Larissa met when her date did not show up on Valentine's day for dinner, his loss Shane gain. Their relationship goes through a lot which includes abuse, lies, secrets ,and the past. I really hoped we get a couple of extra novels about Shane new found family . Excellent novel Ms Ancelli
Drop Everything & Read This- This is what every book should strive to be. Fantastic hero and heroine that did not attempt to change each other or bow to the many different types of angst that were presented to them. The hero was a true alpha in every sense of the word and the heroine was strong and actually continued to be strong throughout the entire story. I absolutely loved this book and will reread many, many times. Just a beautiful, sexy story.
Only you is a fantastic IR story of Larissa and Shane. What do you do when the mother of your son is manipulative and vindictive? What do you do when all you want is love who you love without pressure? What do you do when you feel the hurt of your childhood trying to repeat itself through the life of your son? Well, this gut wrenching story has all this but a love few in a lifetime find. This is a page turner with a sister after my own heart...
