My mind was spinning at this point. Here I was – someone who grew up not believing in ghosts, a veteran journalist used to questioning everything – apparently having a conversation with a captain who fought at Gettysburg more than 150 years ago.
Was it really possible? Was this some gigantic, wildly ingenious incredible hoax, or was this conversation somehow real?
And what was it that brought me – a once dyed-in-the-wool paranormal doubter – to this haunted bridge in search of ghosts?
I really enjoyed reading this. While I've always been interested in the supernatural, I also look at these things from a skeptical perspective. Maybe they're real, maybe they're not. I'd like to believe they are, but so far there isn't proof. It was interesting to read something from the perspective of someone who was more than just skeptical; he really didn't believe in this sort of thing at all. The book details the author's transition from believing ghost definitely are NOT real to thinking maybe there's something to all this supernatural stuff. It was a refreshing change from the standard 'all or nothing' viewpoints so many people have on the subject.
Of course, it was also fun to find out he's from an area of Ohio where I have family. Every so often I could say, "Hey! I know that place!" or "I've been there!"
If you're interested in the supernatural, I definitely suggest reading this. It's fun, and a quick read (only 120 pages in the paperback version, if you don't count the end materials).
I enjoyed this book immensely. I'm very much into history and hauntings. My favorite era of history is the Civil War and before. I love the mix of ghostly goings on with the history of the location. This was very well written. I'm looking forward to reading I Met More Ghosts at Gettysburg.
I've been to Gettysburg many times and grew up not too far from there. I went there with my paranormal group every weekend for years. I recognized the name of an investigator he mentioned in the book—I knew him; he was in my paranormal group.
The author's journey to the paranormal was interesting. I liked reading about the home he bought and his grandmother's experience. It's an enjoyable short book if you're into history and hauntings.
I loved the historical content as much as I did the information about the author's fascination with Gettysburg in general and ghosts specifically...I believe in Gettysburg also!

This was a great book!! It’s good to have a nice quick read every once in a while. Now, before I get into this review, I just wanted to say that I am definitely a skeptic. All of this paranormal stuff is super interesting to me, and I love hearing about it, but I’m not sure I believe in it. After reading this book, though, I’m definitely intrigued.
I really enjoyed this author’s writing style. He gives you lots of information, he tells you the history behind these ghost stories, he talks to other journalists and investigators to get more opinions, he makes the book truly entertaining, and to me, the most important part, he’s not forcing the idea on you and he’s actually a skeptic himself.
I really like that he wrote this book with a journalistic approach, and although some of these stories seemed crazy, he had a decent amount of evidence to back it up.
But besides all that boring crap about writing styles and blah blah blah, this book was really fascinating!!! The stories he told were so interesting, and I really liked that he’s the one who experienced these things. He’s not telling these stories for somebody else. He was there, and he experienced it.
I’ve been to Gettysburg many times and I’ve actually been to a lot of the places he was talking about. I think that made the book even better for me. Plus, I’m a huge history nerd, so him talking about the Civil War was super interesting to me.
Overall, this book was great, and I recommend it to anyone who likes history and/or paranormal stuff!
This was a solid book to read. This was the kind of book you just couldn't put down. It was very well structured and was obviously written by someone who knows how to write! It was nice to read a book on the adventures of a "newbie" into the paranormal field that wasn't full of pseudoscience or personal theories. This was a nice book that felt like you were sharing stories with the author and explored his journey into the world of the paranormal.
