Good storyline

The story, itself, was refreshing. The cat and mouse game between Pyro and Micah made for a great read. My only complaint is the lack of editing that tend to mess up the flow of the story.

Taisha DeMay's second novel is a crime story with a hero, a heroine and a villain, but it is far from formulaic and the three main characters are far from stock characters. They are well fleshed out, and you can see into their heads, what motivates them. The story opens in Baltimore, when a notorious serial arsonist fakes his own death, in a horrific way. Convinced Pyro (the arsonist) is really gone, the fire investigator resigns to live in a small town and open a motorcycle repair shop. The whole story is about this cat-and-mouse game that Pyro plays with Micah, the investigator who has been chasing him for years. Much later, Micah meets a gorgeous businesswoman named Raleigh, whose bakery becomes one of Pyro's targets. So once again, the chase resumes.
This edition has one flaw; it is full of typos. Also, as the story shifts from one point of view to another, the reader has to pay close attention to the transitions, among Pyro, Micah and Raleigh. But even with all this, it's a must-read, a page turner that you're tempted to read in a single sitting. What a treat it is to read something like this!
