Hidden Hope

Rate this book
Give in to the Glamour as the saga continues...

Ryann is torn between two kings… two brothers.

Lad, the king of the Light Court, is her first love. Nox, the new king of the Dark Court, came through when she needed him most and won her heart.

But Lad has revealed a secret to Ryann that devastates her and tears at her loyalties. And though Nox and Lad are fierce rivals for the girl they both love, an even bigger problem threatens them all.

The unsuspecting human population of the world hangs in the balance of an approaching war between Dark and Light. Powerful fan pods have transformed the face of the country. It’s abnormal NOT to be in one now. The Dark Council’s plan is almost accomplished, and they are nearly ready to reveal themselves and take back rulership of the world, as it was in the old days, before the history books were written.

Ryann can’t believe the Nox she knows and loves would allow that to happen, though he is now deeply entrenched in the Dark Court and seems to be changing by the day. Is his love for Ryann strong enough to give him the strength to stand against his people and their plot?

Or should she side with Lad and the Light Court, who who appear to have the welfare of humans in mind? He is fighting the looming danger hard as he can, fully involved now in the world of Elven politics he tried so hard to avoid.

And what can Ryann-- only a partial Fae-- personally do?

She will have to learn to balance her own Dark and Light sides-- and somehow make a the right choice between two tempting Fae guys-- or face the consequences of a wrong decision eternally and watch her family and the entire human world fall under the oppression of the Dark Court.

I love writing, and I love LOVE. I've been writing seriously since 2010 and have written 35 books (and counting!) Most of them are YA and NA romantic fantasy. There's a dash of paranormal and dystopian romance in my book list as well.

I'm honored to be an Amazon bestseller and multi-award winning author of the bestselling Hidden Saga, which is a 10-book Fae fantasy romance series, the heart-pounding Crimson Accord vampire romance series.

My new Romantasy series, Age of Fae, begins with A Court Bright and Broken, which released on Valentine's Day 2025. Book 2, A Kingdom Ruthless and Radiant comes out May 23rd 2025!

I live in Rhode Island where I write in my car at the beach year round and sometimes crave the heat and humidity of Mississippi, where I grew up. I love hearing from my readers! Reach out and say hi anytime.

Excellent continuation of the story. More dangers and betrayal. I love how Ryann is developing all her powers. She definitely belongs with Lad! So happy! 😊

Strange flutterings in my stomach came and went as I was reading this last book in the Hidden series, particularly when the scenes had anything to do with Nox, the new King of the Dark Court. As I explicitly shared in my review of the 2nd book, Hidden Heart (click here), I love Nox and am all for him getting the girl and his happily ever after. Now the question in reading Hidden Hope is if it is the girl I’m rooting for that he gets the happily ever after with. THAT one, I can not answer obviously as I do not want to spoil anything for you.

The story picks up about a month after it ended in Hidden Heart. Nox is now within the Dark Court, navigating the dangers of it with Vancia, the former King’s adopted daughter and the current fiancée of Lad who now heads the Light Court. Vancia is extremely beautiful and is openly devoted to Nox, who happens to be the boyfriend of Ryann, our main protagonist.

Ryann loves Nox and is trying her best to follow Nox’s instructions for her own safety which is to stay away from the former king of the Dark Court, who happens to also be her long lost biological father, Davis. But trying and doing are two different things especially when Davis threatens the life of Ryann’s mother. Davis is one of the most powerful Elf in the world, he has The Sway, which means he can make people do whatever he wants them to do. The ability to influence at it's best and worst. What he doesn’t know and what Ryann is trying to hide, is that she inherited that power from him. She also inherited the power of empathy from her mother’s side of the family. She has two great powers which she believes are not useful enough…..or that she is not strong enough to use at least.

Nox wants Ryann but is unable to be with her since he is trying to keep their togetherness a secret from his world lest she be put in more danger than she already is. Lad on the other hand, sees her as much as he can, despite being affianced to Vancia, the childhood friend of Nox. This is no love triangle. It’s a quadrangle filled with thrilling moments and sweet words that romantics would gobble up. I sure did.

Much as I was sure in Hidden Heart that I wanted Nox to end up with Ryann, mid book I didn’t know where I wanted to go. Lad is a dream, Nox equally so. Vancia was an extra I thought I could do without….but no…. she is one of the most important “twists” in the series that I’m sure readers would also come to love.

The Lad who was first introduced in Hidden Deep (click here for the review), the honest yet innocent Lad is back with a vengeance and all ready to finally fight for what or who he REALLY wants. Nox is too... but at what point can one measure someone’s love in their world? How can one understand where true love ends and elven glamour begins? Just who belongs to whom? Oh so very hard to answer indeed.

Overall, I love how the author navigated the plot points in the series. Everything was put in their proper places and no question was left unanswered by the end of the book. I was satisfied at the pairings in the end. However, should author Amy Patrick decide to write an alternate ending for those rooting for the OTHER teams, I’m sure I would enjoy that as well (hint*hint**).

Have I given you guys enough hints? No? well….take my word for it. Read this series. I happily recommend it.

I'm SO happy to see that there are still 2 books left in this Saga. I was getting teary eyed at the thought of this being the last one. My fingers are crossed that this Saga will make it to movies. I would LOVE to sit through a Hidden Marathon!!!

Review

After reading the first two novels in the 'Hidden Saga' I was OFF the edge of my seat, bouncing with excitement about getting to read the THIRD instalment! I gave 'Hidden Deep' and 'Hidden Heart' FIVE stars each, JUST because each of them was so good! After the MAJOR cliff-hangers at the end of each of the previous novels, I think it’s free say that 'Hidden Hope' did NOT disappoint.
'Hidden Hope' continues to focus on the relationship of Ryann and Nox who had developed a romantic relationship during their adventures in LA. Ever since Lad had broken up with Ryann and became engaged to Vancia (Ryann's adopted sister via her biological father – I know, confusing right?) Ryann had been trying to put thoughts of Lad and feelings for him out of her mind whilst desperate missing Nox.
I really enjoyed the pace of the novel: It was steady but quick enough that I didn't lose interest or become too overwhelmed. The author would reveal something new about the characters, their romances, or the elves every chapter and I really enjoyed the fact that the story was as well formed as the previous novels.
'Hidden Hope' did not suffer from middle-book syndrome like so many novels out there. I felt enraptured with this novel as much as I was with the others and I loved that the author increased drama levels and tension with every consecutive story and that she built on our knowledge and would leave some questions unanswered but to be later revealed. Anticipation levels were also VERY high! I would read ONLY to reach the long awaited ending and then be bombarded with a BIG cliffie!
Amy Patrick is obviously a seasoned writer and it really comes through in her writing. Everything was beautifully told and her constant usage of emotive language really helped me connect with Ryann and Lad as well as other important characters. I loved the scenes that the author would paint and would often feel like I was right there. She utilises setting very effectively to enhance the emotions and feelings permeating a scene. I would be able to see, hear, touch, smell and taste everything her characters could as well as experience passionate emotions from the characters. It was a masterfully told novel!
Characters were very well developed and I loved how dynamic each and every one was. Ryann, Lad and Nox would all grow and EVOLVE with the progression of events. They would change but in some ways remain vitally the same. They would act more mature and grown-up durinh dangerous or complex situations and I loved that about each and every one of them. Our characters would have depth in character to them that made then terribly realistic and each had a well-developed background history that spiced up the novel and would grow my knowledge and understanding of them.
One thing I really regret about the 'Hidden Saga' series are the covers. I mean, they're not BAD or HORRIBLE but I feel like the covers could’ve been MORE and could’ve added to the general appeal of the series as a whole MORE. I know how much covers play a huge role getting a novel out there. My number one wish would be that the author change the covers of her series. Though the covers DO capture the novels they don't capture ALL and EVERYTHING about the novels and I feel like the covers just don't do justice to the content. But that's my opinion.
Such a beautiful ending! I really couldn't have asked for a better finale to this part in the series! Full of raw emotion and lots and lots of love and happiness I was crying with joy at the end. (Metaphorically, because otherwise my friends and family would have looked at me weirdly. Lol!) I only wish that we could have gotten a wedding and marriage for our lovely couple whose names I will DEFINITELY not reveal as it will give away a HUGE part of the story! I beg you all to go out and read this series! It is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I'll even go and say that it's BETTER than the 'Divergent' series!
Congratulations to Amy Patrick on publishing such a...I have no words to describe this novel! I CAN'T WAIT to read 'Hidden Darkness'!

Rating Plan
1 star : Strongly did not like the book, writing and plot was bad. Idea of the book was against my liking.
2 star : Didn't like it, didn't find it interesting or gripping. Seemed to drag on to me.
3 star : An average book. Wasn't bad or good. Everything else was well done. Original idea.
4 star : Like a 3 star but has potential to it as a series or the book grew on me as it progressed and certain scenes captured me. I Enjoyed it and read it in one sitting.
5 star : I LOVED IT! I stayed up late until 3 am. Author is a genius, characters, plot, idea, development, EVERYTHING was EXCELLENT. Nothing else can possibly be said except that its 5 STAR!

AMAZING

This series has caused to me to binge read more then I have ever done before. 2 days and I’ve finished reading the first 3 books plus “The Sway”. 4 books in TWO days.
Now with my KU app, anti blue light glasses, and a blanket. Here to book number 5.

This one had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Ryann, who was with Nox in the 2nd book, was still trying to understand the elven way and how much she had inside her. She discovers who her biological father is and he is not a good guy. She struggles with her heart between Nox and Lad but also her mother and father. I am so happy how it all turned out. It appears the immediate danger has been eliminated but dark forces could bring it all crashing down.

In comes Book #3.
I flew through this book. It held a little more adventure for me and anticipation.
Plus, I'm constantly wondering if Ryann is going to pick Knox or Lad, and then also feeling sad for the one she doesn't pick. However; this book does a great job of tying that into a little bow for me.

This book also brings Vancia into focus more, although she has been in ever book for small little bits. I picture her as Regina George from Mean Girls constantly telling Ryann that she can't be in their "club/species" because she didn't wear pink on Wednesday and everyone knows they wear pink on Wednesdays.
However, from the character development done in this book, I was able to see her as much more relatable than a Regina George. Maybe she isn't such a mean girl after all.

Hidden hope

I did enjoy this book but the series is starting to feel incredibly repetitive. I think the author needs to come up with a different form of conflict other than tearing lad and ryann apart. The fact that they weren't bonded at the end and the blurb for the next book states they are in trouble of being torn apart is just taking it too far. It's been 3 books of back and forth between them and there was a HEA for this book. Why continue the story with the same issues? I don't think I will continue reading this series.

Caught up...

Just like when we were teenagers ourselves, caught up in the purity of first love. When you loved just because you were in love with being in love. The push and pull of unadulterated attraction. You're 100% sure you love someone, and then someone just as lively, fun, handsome and loving comes along and makes you question your feelings...That's what Amy brings us through Ryann, Lad, Nox and Vancia. Be prepared to have the nostalgia of your first love/loves run away with your mind, heart and imagination.

Omg!! What a whirlwind of a ride!!

I am addicted to this series. I love how it’s paranormal with a hint of romance and it’s still YA as well. My favorite things!
The third installment continues on where book 2 ended and i really enjoyed it. We discover so much and there are a TON of changes. Several that I’m very happy with but can’t say because of spoilers. But if you are invested in Ryann, Knox, and Lad you will not be disappointed in this book. Loved it!! So much happens with the dark and light fae. I cannot wait to read the next book.

I received a free audio copy of this book directly from the author for an honest review.

I wish I hadn’t read a spoiler by accident! This was definitely an awesome continuation of a well written and fast paced story. What I read in the spoiler made me think I was going to be majorly disappointed in the book but actually it turned out I was wrong ok maybe it’s still not 100% the way I’d want it but hell what book is? To make it that way and still be happy with the ending that’s a pretty impressive thing in my opinion.

Ryann has a boy problem. Sure, Lad broke her heart when he walked away, vowing they would never get together again, but she can’t help but feel that pain and loss, even though she is dating Nox now. The strain of the triangle between them has expanded as Lad’s fiancé has discovered Nox is still alive after believing he died in a plane crash with his musician parents many years ago.

Ryann gave Lad her heart but now that it’s broken she can’t bring herself to feel as deeply for Nox, and the thought of opening herself to further pain and heartache has her on edge and overwhelmed, especially now that her Magnlia Sugar Sweet Tea is starting production. With Lad appointing himself as delivery boy of the necessary elven saol water, she can’t even avoid him as she desperately wants.

But when mom’s elven fiancé steals her away Ryann is ready to move mountains to bring her mother safely home… even if that means teaming up with Lad and his fiancé. When circumstances change, forcing a return to L.A., Nox and the dark elf conspiracy, it’s going to take everything Ryann has to survive her newfound biological father, rescue her mother from his clutches, and finally slam the doors on one boy and fully open her heart to the other.

Lots going on in this one… I still adore getting more of Nox, but wow, Nox and Lad together are way too much excitement for one human girl alone to handle.

I forgot to make this as read earlier so please excuse the later review.

Okay, so my thoughts are a lot more...sporadic with this one. Book one I was all about Lad and Ryann. Book two I was so about Nox it was a joke and this one they both just did my head in and I wanted to take Ryann for myself because these boys - to put it bluntly - ain’t shit.

I don’t know how one series can make me change my mind so much about their characters but this somehow managed to do so.

I will say, the writing is progressively getting better with each book and although this one didn’t leave me clambering for the next book like the previous one, I will likely read book 4 at a later date.

I’m not sure what did it for me, maybe it’s because I felt the plot line was boring and uneventful and considering the amount of books in this series, this can be best described as a filler book. I think the one thing that salvaged it from being a two star was the ending had some high powered drama and action I was craving for and it ended on a note I felt satisfied with.

To conclude, I think this series is definitely worth it if you want something to get you out of a reading slump. It’s low fantasy and fun and the writing is witty. I just think the plotting needs work.

We left the world of LA and crazy fan pods at the end of the last book to come back to Mississippi. Knox is still in LA being a rock star and trying to transition into his role of dark king, Lad is in Altum being light king, and Ryann is with Knox, long distance. The bulk of this book surrounds Ryann’s bio dad, Davis Hart, Uber powerful senator and now former dark king now that Knox is in place. There’s plenty of drama and angst to go around, and Ryann is forced to get involved in the elven drama even though she doesn’t want to when her mom gets unknowingly tangled up in everything. This was a good continuation of the story, and there is a somewhat decent conclusion to the main arcs and relationship drama, but there’s definitely a nice set up for a fourth book here. The relationships are well developed and feel more real as we move into this third book as well. The narration is well done, and makes it an easy listen.

I received this audiobook free in exchange for my fair and honest review.

I think this book was my favourite of the series I liked the world and the main plot but the issue I had with this series was the characters and the relationships between them sometimes it was adorable and the characters were great and sometimes I wanted to shake them because they frustrated me. Overall it’s a nice series the world building is well done and the plot is interesting we learn more things in this book and our main character grow up and accept her feelings (finally) the ending is in the classical happily ever after style and it was nice seeing this scene happening where everyone is happy

Ending of a trilogy but the story does continue

Final book in the trilogy does have HEA. However it does segue into the next trilogy as Darkness continues to foster and destroy. It’s a good story. I did like the characters. I did get frustrated at times and then got bored at other times. Then I was ready to stop reading during those bored times because it seemed irrelevant and pointless. But persistence in learning the background did pay off to get to the ending. I am debating on getting the rest of the series. I need a break from Young YA when the main character is still in that “coming of age” stage and still self-absorbed. But overall a great read.

I enjoyed book 3! I enjoyed the plot, I enjoyed the story, I enjoyed the characters. I admit that I REALLY disliked how quickly Ryann jumped on the Nox train and how quickly she fell for him after Lad, until the end when we learned why and then I was okay with it. Thank you, Amy Patrick, for not breaking my heart with a crappy love triangle! Thank you for giving all characters a HEA! I'll probably read book 4, but I'm going to read something else in between books so that I don't get burned out on the series.

Cute story

For something quick and easy to read that's chock-full of plot twists (some predictable), here's a romance fantasy series that is perfect for a lazy day when you don't want to think too much. I rated 5 stars because I didn't want a "heavy" read. The author is an excellent writer and storyteller. There are a few places where the story seems to skip over an event that could have been suspenseful, but it goes right into another suspenseful scene. It works. There is an underlying message with this series, but it's not hidden. 😉

Rian’s story arc finds a satisfying conclusion in Hidden Hope, but all is not completely fine in the Elven Kingdoms, leaving the door wide open for spin-off books. I once again enjoyed DeLuca’s narration of the Main character. She was very convincing as Rian learned more about the differences between her relationships with both Knox and Lad. Secrets are revealed, new friendships are kindled, and loyalties are tested as Rian races to save humanity from Elven domination.

Let down

I have liked the series so far but this one was kind of a let down. SPOILER ALERT! The breakup was so long anticipated and drawn out that the way UT finally happened was such a let down. Just, yup, I'm over it in a snap, bye... I expected more feelings involved after realizing that your relationship was based on unintentional glamor. The lack of care given to this scene really spoiled it for me.

I’m just getting around to making out my Goodreads list. Many of the books on the list only have the read status with the date I borrowed (thanks for tracking Amazon.) This is because I remember nothing about them…to be fair it’s 5 years and many many books later BUT this series is one I very much so remember. I think about it often, it is so well written and such a wonderful story. One of the first I recommend to my friends when they are in a bad writers slump!

Overall, I'm enjoying this series. However, I'm so confused. I was under the impression that when the elves or even part elves mate and one dies then they pledge to be alone the rest of their lives and they get a mark like Ryann's grandma's hair turning white. But, we find out Ryann's mom was mated and pregnant with Ryann before she met Ryann's dad who raised her. Then when Ryann's biological dad dies, shouldn't Ryann's mom have a mark that her mate died and she has to be alone the rest of her life? Bc that's why Lad wants to wait to mate with Ryann til after they wed in case something happens to him so she isn't alone forever or however long she'll live. She's part elf part human like her mom. So shouldn't her mom follow the same rules as when they mate they mate for life and then stay single forever if their mate dies?

As much as I enjoyed this series so far, this book didn't leave me wanting to read more. I don't think I'll be continuing. The ending was expected. Sadly it just means I'll continue to be annoyed with the relationship between Ryann and Lad. I love a good romance but dragging it out through so many books gets a bit old. Well written. Enjoyed the story. Just didn't go where I wanted at the end.

So I loved this book .The whole series was good.My only complaint is I felt that the relationship between the ultimate winner of Ryann's heart could have used more relationship progression than it did.A lot of time was spent on the rival relationship. But other than that I was not disappointed in the end.It is definitely one of my favorite books.
