Until two weeks ago, Vince Nash was a Navy SEAL. Now he’s just a guy with a failing family business and a very specific skill set, and if he can get through a job interview at Camo Cay, he’ll be all set. But when he’s greeted on the island by beautiful Larken White—sharpshooter, cynic, and Vince’s first love—he realizes his plan was missing one very important, very pissed-off woman. Problem is, Larken wants nothing to do with him.

Straight up Romance from start to finish. A sexcapade with a sweet second chance romance. A wonderful way to spend a warn spring afternoon and a great escape. Don't overthink it, just feel.
Vince Nash has left the SEAL Teams and needs a way to make good money without an all-consuming commitment - he has the commitment in spades back in Georgia with a family business and the family that comes with it. A set up like the one offered by Rik Amundson tailored to his specific skill set is a dream come true and so is the money. When he arrives for his interview on Camo Cay he is met by a vision from his past. Larken White doesn't know if she wants to shoot Vince or jump his bones. Twelve years and he still does it for her. The only question is: Can she take the chance he won't break her heart again?
Ya, this one didn’t work for me. First of all, it was a second chance romance, which I usually don’t enjoy. This one didn’t have any of my usual annoyances with this genre so it wasn’t terrible. Both characters were not celibate during their time apart, they initially broke up mostly because they were young and involved in their careers in the armed forces. So really, the second chance part wasn’t really the thing that didn’t work. The story just moved too fast. They met again unexpectedly when he is offered a job with the mercenaries that she works with. But within a few hours he is grabbing her, kissing her and they are having sex again. She is cold and prickly towards him but that doesn’t stop her from jumping his bones. It just happened too fast for me. And the epilogue was weird. It was a few weeks in the future and was just them on a mission. It didn’t really hint at what their future life together was like, which is what I personally want in an epilogue. I don’t need marriage and babies, but I do need to know how they worked out their dynamic etc. But I guess their dynamic was that they worked together? Overall I didn’t feel the love between them. It came about too fast and their relationship before had been a casual one when they were 19, so it’s not like they’d been pining for each other all this time. enh, overall it was ok but not great. I’d skip this one.
From the moment I first saw the cover to this story, I knew it was going to be HOT. And it didn't disappoint. The first thing that popped in my head was ... "ooooooo, a Latin guy!, that's gonna get feisty". I didn't even know the lead's names, but I still knew. And feisty it was. But not exactly for the reasons I predicted. You see, I'm a Latin girl and I know Latin men. I was expecting machismo (strong or aggressive masculine pride) fireworks, but what I got was a firework display of strength, friendship, love, equality and sexy hot sparks ... BOOM!!!
Twelve years ago, two very young kids had a fling. Neither really left each other, life just happened. They were really young and in true typical 19 year old guy form, Vince let Larkin slip through his fingers. And in typical 19 year old girl form, Larkin let it happen. So I'm not sure I would label this a second chance romance as much as I would label it a right time ~ right place romance. And what a beautiful place and time it is. They both needed to go out in the world and do what they were meant to do in order to come full circle and be who they were supposed to be for each other. And it worked out perfectly. The universe always does :)
This is the story of Vincent Nash, Navy SEAL recon specialist and Larkin White, expert sharpshooter and sexy as heck ex-girlfriend! Vince has just finished with a tour in the Middle East but needs cash in a bad way to help his family business. He turns to Rik Amundson for a job. And hey, guess what (lol) Larkin's also one of his employees. so the past catches up with the present and we have ourselves a fireworks extravaganza! Both Vince and Larkin are passionate, alpha, determined, prideful and SO hot for each other that even THEY don't know how to handle it. But their boss does .... he sends them off to a deserted island for a day to test their teamwork! And they pass that test with flying colors *huge grin*
As he laced his fingers into hers, he whispered again in her ear, "Te amo." This time there was no hesitation before she said it back. " Te amo, mi corazón."
In Fall Dark, Vince Nash, former Navy SEAL and Larken White have a history. I loved how she welcomed him to his new job as one of her teammates. The story is hot, sexy and full of good dialogue as Vince and Larken come to a few new understandings. He has responsibilities to his family and this job working only a week or two a month is perfect for his situation. He just has to get past Larken and the 'interview' in this fun packed hot romance.
Vince and Larken dated at 19 before splitting up to focus on their military careers. They meet again 12 years later (should be 31 now) working for the same agency that provides some type of security. I admit I really didn't get into this one. I thought both leads acted younger. Larken especially had moments where I thought she might have been a toddler. Vince has Alpha-hole moments (not unexpected). Couldn't get on board with romance and luckily, this was short.
I read a few books in this series and even though these are short novellas this one didn't have much going for it except for hot, steamy scenes. Not much of a story line.
Zoe York never disappoints. And she always has a second chance romance in all her series. Vince and Larken's story is one such. I loved reading this book. I fell in love with Larken from the very first page when she pulled a gun on Vince. Things have just been fun from there. There is some bad blood between Vince and Larken, and she doesn't like him very much, but their chemistry is still as hot as ever. Larken was hurt by Vinces's decision 12 years ago, and now Vince is trying with all his might to win her back. He came to Camo Cay to get a job, but after meeting Larken his priorities change. All he wants is to win back the girl he loved and lost.
i loved Larken and Vince working through their problems and getting back together. Like all Zoe books, it has sexy times and lots of fun.
Vince and Larken dated years ago right out of high school. Larken thought it was more serious than it was and when Vince left for Navy Seals training she was hurt. Now that Vince is older and sees Larken again he is determined to convince her to give them another chance. But Larken has been hurt by two men in her life so her ability to trust is almost non existent.
Fall Dark was really short. I liked the story that we got, just wished it was longer. This was more a $.99 story than $2.99. The characters were good and the ending was nice.
So, I wasn't really feeling the love interest at first because he seemed a little too cocky and asshole-ish for my tastes BUT the author pretty quickly revealed both characters have softer, more sensitive sides, as well as an emotionally fraught history. Vince, the love interest, uses his cockiness as a façade while Larken uses her hard, tough exterior to mask a broken heart and bitterness toward Vince over how their past relationship ended. At a few points, Vince pushes a prickly Larken's boundaries encouraging her to be vulnerable and emotionally open with him, which isn't something I'd expected from a book in this genre of alpha Navy/military heroes. I liked having a heroine who was prickly and nursing old emotional wounds, while the hero tries to get her to open up and be vulnerable, and trust him. (Also unexpected was Vince going on a mini-spiel about appreciating rather than objectifying Larken. Maybe I just have low standards these days, but it was kind of nice to have an alpha hero talk about respecting the heroine.)
I ended up liking both Vince and Larken, and how their romance blossomed (and was resolved). I just wish it had been a bit longer because I wanted to hear more about Vince's background (he's Cuban-American, I would have liked to have gotten more on that) and the family business he's been tasked with running.
I knocked .625 of a point off for my initial reaction to Vince and another .625 of a point over the fact I wished the novella was longer. This was a solid read and enough to get me interested in the author's other work.
(I read a different edition than the one listed on Goodreads, so I added it. The paperback cover is the same as the kindle one found on Amazon.)
ETA: One more thing! There was the trope where the hero spoke in Spanish when he didn't want Larken to understand what he was saying, BUT she learned some Spanish since the last time they saw each other so she knew all the romantic stuff he was saying about her. 💀💀💀💀 Totally my jam.

As I wrote earlier this week, May was crazy busy. But an E-Reader Addict’s gotta read. So Zoe York and her SEALs Undone series to the rescue!
I LOVE a good second-chance romance. Was Fall Dark a good second-chance romance? Eh, not so much.
In order for a second-chance romance to work for me, I need to see how much the couple meant to each other when they were younger. Bonus points if they’ve been pining for each other ever since they broke up. I don’t usually feel like Ms. York shorts us on plot or character development in her novellas, but this time all we got are a few short sentences randomly placed throughout the novella about the hero and heroine’s past and how their relationship ended. They also didn’t seem to have spent much time thinking about each other during their 12 years of separation.
Add in some physically aggressive alpha-male behavior that didn’t sit right with me (this story is six years old so the whole “I’m kissing you even though you’re throwing I hate you vibes my way” non-consent thing was more acceptable/seen as romantic back then), and this is a rare exception to my Zoe York love-fest.
Vince may not have to work hard to get Larken in bed again but getting her to talk is the bar work
Larken and Vince dated a dozen years ago when they were nineteen and just starting their military careers. Vince left her heartbroken but didn't know it. Now for very different reasons they are both out and reunited as Vince comes to the island she is on and he is applying for a job with her boss. Before they can work together, they have to work through their past feelings and make sure they can work together now with the trust that is needed. Can Larken forgive him and actually talk to him about her anger towards him? Will they overcome everything and be able to move forward together?
Second-chance romances aren't really my thing but I did love Larken's character and her position within the team. Cade was armoured by her in every way, especially by her skill. I loved how the roles seemed to be reversed and it wasn't the girl trying to get into the team but the other way around. it was still a short and steamy romance but I enjoyed the sense of adventure with the couple and how both of them were involved in the work this time.
Nash is out of the Navy and surprisingly finds an old girlfriend at his new job. They have a few obstacles, but rekindle their romance.
The story is quick and fun. The writing flows well and tells a quick story of a weekend romance that being their initial star action back stronger than ever. This is part of a series but can be read alone.
Vince & Larkin take center stage in the entry in the SEALS Undone series.
They were once lovers, 12 years ago, and after Vunce went off for training Larkin didn't get involved with anyone until a bad encounter that lead to the end of her Army career. The two meet again when Vince comes to Camo Cay to possibly work for the group that Larkin already works for. How will this play out?
These two had sparks to spare! Of course, it helped that they had all the chemistry left over from their previous relationship. It doesn’t take long for him to realize he messed up back then and to make sure he doesn’t do it again. She can’t resist him any more now than she could all those years before. Compatible at work, compatible at home, these two were made for each other!
Love this series, the audiobooks are awesome. Fall back is the story of Vince Nash and Larkin, a woman he knew 12 years ago. Larkin is holding a lot of anger which makes it difficult for Vince to try and get to know her again. It's a good second chance romance and is quite steamy!
This was a insta-love with lots of heat. A second chance romance and it was packed with heat. I would recommend this book to everyone who likes a lot of heat.
I’ve read almost all the books in this series, so I’m used to the flow of these novellas. This one was boring. Barely any storyline and I didn’t believe the chemistry between the characters. Also it was wayyyyy too fast, saying I love you way too soon. Felt shallow and surface level.
Vince and Larken get a second chance when they discover they'll be working together again! You'll enjoy learning how they resolve issues from their past 12 years ago.
