About the author
Prassant Kevin
5 books39 followersOne of three children, Kevin was born and raised in a close-knit family in New Delhi. He was always more inclined towards sports and literature. Kevin left his schooling after the twelfth standard to study story-writing and after two break years, returned to complete his education from the CBSE Board.
After school, Kevin pursued his childhood dream and studied Major in Film Direction. He went on to direct a Hindi feature film, several short films and music videos.
In the winter of 2013, he finally decided to turn one of his oldest written film screenplays into a fully-fledged English novel. That is how, ‘Let Me Go: The Last Love Story of the Universe’, his first English novel came to life. He currently resides in New Delhi and is working on his second book.

we, the readers, are required to raise our expectations. Unless we raise our expectations we are going to be fed all the written, unrefined words that are the result of a stunted imagination and dwarfed expression. These are more or less the words of the author Prassant Kevin. It makes us, the readers, proud of what we do. It places us on a pedestal where we are superior to many others, where we are honored with a responsibility to decide what we want to read. Not only decide, but also be outrageous and demand it. The author has set himself apart from others who never ask readers to challenge what they are biting into. Respect.
But as far as his own book goes, the author has lost the game. The expression that I would use is “duck out”.

**I received this from a Goodreads giveaway.**
The story revolves around a boy with dreams of being an author who ends up becoming a king of hearts. The story was fast paced and interesting in the beginning. But the grammatical errors and the messed up names and pronouns was something I found very disturbing.

This is what I think is better than what bestselling authors in India are selling. This is a proper story, what you call a 'complete content'.
I won this book in giveaway. I really enjoyed it.
There is a good description of how two friend could be with each other and what there thoughts might be, while being so. But still "men will be men" thing came out of Ayan when he helped Misha to undress with her tight fitting trial dress. I don't say it mean by any means but still these small things connect to the reality of real world. Misha on other hand had been cast with too good thoughts. Whole story revolves around both of them.
At some places the grammar and sentence formation is not understandable. Some logic seems missing in those sentences. Also, what happened with Mahesh, about whom Ayan was thinking that he will not bother Misha again. That remains closed matter. Apart from that I would say that the book as in whole is worth reading.

This is an uninteresting book.
When I started to read this book, I thought it would be another love story. I was relieved to find that though love was an integral part of the story, this book was more about making the right choices and achieving dreams.
Although the beginning was fantastic, the pace slows down somewhere in the middle. The word 'coz' is used way too many times and sometimes it watered down really great dialogues. Also, there are a lot of monologues. A few would have been fine but the large quantity makes a lot of them unrealistic and preachy. The ending was not really satisfying.

What does King means or let me ask what is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear the word King?
When I hear the word King, my mind makes a reflection of a man who is very rich, prosperous, handsome, has many wives and who is always there for the people of his Kingdom. He must work for the goodness and prosperity of the people. He is also an inspiration to many and is loved by all.
But can we think of a person other than such characteristics to be a king.

A thousand grammatical mistakes.
Characters change names like people change their underwear.
Owner of a bookshop changes in consecutive pages.
Sentences that are both in 'past tense' and 'present tense'. Don't ask me how's that even possible.
And the continuous 'authorial' bragging! Just Stay Away!
And the story - was there even one?
I wanted to read a novel not a Facebook status or a Tweet. SMS lingo, really? That too in a book that is 'supposed' to be about an about an author, who does nothing but flashes his smile, flexes his muscles, and takes selfies.

King of Hearts - A novel of love and motivation.
Blended love in motivational way that readers can easily connect.
The protoganist of the story is Ayan kapoor who comes from varanasi and achieve his dream of becoming a writer, the up and down he have faced and the love sparked between ayan and his best friend Misha. What he faces when he is at peak of his carrier, a uncurable disease and Misha's care when ayan getting worse thats noticable work, the final chapters were really written well may be somewhere it went filmy apart from that a simple & decent work.
My rating is 3.5/5

Romantic Boredom
Not a fan of Romantic so didn't like the book much.
However, Mr Prassant. Your lead Ayan was 24 yrs when he wrote the first book God vs You. Then after 2 years while his 2nd book was going to comebout..He was still 24?!!.
Simple thing. Should be corrected at your end I believe.

Seriously touching. It really made me cry at moments. The story is so beautiful. Thanks for making my reading experience wonderful. The title kept up the name.

At 23, he brought the whole world to his feet.
At 25, he made the whole world cry.
While this intrigues the reader enough to buy it, they'll feel like trashing the book they're done reading it.
Why?
Let's get to the pointers...
Strengths:
1. Effort, again, and guts to tell the story which could without much fight, easily sweep "Worst Fiction Novel" award, had it been put up for any.
Weaknesses:
1. Looks like an immature guy's journal entries. And tens of pages of what arrogant thoughts Kevin has about the current frenzy of the YA genre in India. "People keep reading that crap. At least my story has some philosophy," his words.
Dear Kevin, philosophy is fine. But with it, the story has to be readable too!
2. Full of grammatical mistakes, typos and bad typesetting. (Even the blurb is kind of unreadable.)
3. Terrible execution and too boring and predictable.
And, and, and...
4. The scenarios where the taglines come into play? One of them is an indirect rip-off of an extended scene from a successful Hindi flick.

Reading this book brings out mixed sort of reactions. While the reader may get impressed by the way characters are written and portrayed, he might get disappointed the way story gets a predictive ending.
The protagonist, Ayan, is a budding writer and the book blurb describes this story, keeping the suspense alive, very well. Though, the blurb is over promising.
The book is filled with a lot of grammar mistakes, tenses errors, which definitely irks a genuine reader. The SMS lingo and the poor narration makes it lesser connecting. The formatting of the text and page space is terrible. There's hardly any space between the changing paragraphs or stuff, making it a strain on eyes. Simultaneously, there's wide gap on both the sides of the text, making it kind of weird. It seems like the format setter didn't know whether to make the book thicker or thinner.
As a silver lining here, I found the literary scenario of the country is well described. This point of reality touch is admirable.
Irony is, the author wrote everything in this book, what he himself wasn't fond of in Indian literature.

Romance is the only genre that bores me to the core just because of some writers and their "stereotype campus shit" i started disliking this genre couple of months ago but Prassant's "King of Hearts" has changed my perception completely. This book is not just a romance novel with some long drives, candle dinners, sex scenes, happy endings & killing one of the partners in the end just to make the story more "Dramatic" and "sympathetic" , This book is an inspiring journey of Ayan Kapoor who is a small town ordinary guy with a pocket full of extraordinary dreams.
From Ayan's inspiring words & unconditional love for his dreams to Misha's crazy yet so sensible aspect, From the Sensational interview with Poonam to the emotional one with Namrata,From enlightening the writers responsibilities towards their readers and literature to the readers duty of recognising the actual sensible art, From the "down to earth & humble being" to an "aggressive and disorientated person", From Hitesh selfless friendship to Neelam's supportive trait, From the crazy buddy-ship to the unconditional love,From the tragic mishap to its heart-tearing aftermath, From Varanasi's small town boy to the King of million hearts this book is a monumental read.

Hits and Misses of the book :-
Content :-The Language And Story were simple yet impactful but the overall grooming of the novel (specially with the outlook and printing) was kind off lacking (Like somewhere the fonts were clumsy, words were missing) thus, making few pages almost undecipherable.
Pace :- It was a quick & time-friendly read but somewhere i felt the story was kind off running like for me it was difficult to digest that the series of events were happening at the speed of "Rajdhani Express"
Emotional yet motivating story line, Simple language, powerful quotes,Glimpse of king size life , harsh tricks of fate and the solider spirit pretty much sum up this story.

Heart-Melting Romance
So I received this book as a review copy in exchange of an honest review ." King Of Hearts " is the second novel penned down by author and revolves around the protagonist Ayan who left his home a teenage & settled in the capital of the largest democracy , Delhi, to fulfill his dreams . It was on his birthday when he met Misha in a bar where she's filling her uncle's spot . With time they gelled well & become partners in crime . Ayan who wish to become an author was struggling to get his book published but as the legends said , ' Everything Happens for good & at very right time ' . After tons of hardship when things get juicy in his life , he turned out to be the heart beat of the nation , saviour of many .But the only person who stays with him , in his thick & thin , was Misha .
Author 'd given detail description of Misha & Ayan's friendship which is awe-inspiring in the time when people stays in life for some materialistic desires or ready to cheat on other for some trendy stuff .Hitesh, a literary agent , is embedded as a positive fellow of Ayan who helped him in settling in an alien town & handled Ayan's PR personally in absence of Misha .My favourite character in book is Misha's uncle who is portrayed as the coolest guy in plot . He raised Misha with his children and encouraged kids to go on dates and enjoy the life .
Now my Favourite Moment in the story are:
# Stance when Misha gave 50+ calls to ayan to command him not accept friend request of a particular friend .

So I received this book as a review copy in exchange of an honest review ." King Of Hearts " is the second novel penned down by author and revolves around the protagonist Ayan who left his home a teenage & settled in the capital of the largest democracy , Delhi, to fulfill his dreams . It was on his birthday when he met Misha in a bar where she's filling her uncle's spot . With time they gelled well & become partners in crime . Ayan who wish to become an author was struggling to get his book published but as the legends said , ' Everything Happens for good & at very right time ' . After tons of hardship when things get juicy in his life , he turned out to be the heart beat of the nation , saviour of many .But the only person who stays with him , in his thick & thin , was Misha .
Author 'd given detail description of Misha & Ayan's friendship which is awe-inspiring in the time when people stays in life for some materialistic desires or ready to cheat on other for some trendy stuff .Hitesh, a literary agent , is embedded as a positive fellow of Ayan who helped him in settling in an alien town & handled Ayan's PR personally in absence of Misha .My favourite character in book is Misha's uncle who is portrayed as the coolest guy in plot . He raised Misha with his children and encouraged kids to go on dates and enjoy the life .
Now my Favourite Moment in the story are:
# Stance when Misha gave 50+ calls to ayan to command him not accept friend request of a particular friend .

A tale that has been penned down straight from the Heart…
“You are the kind of love which every writer writes about and you are the smile that can bring comfort to any broken soul… I want you to be my last dream and last laugh.” Quoted out straight from Page no. – 197 of the King of Hearts. The words quoted in the line says it all.
An unforgettable tale of Love, Success and Friendship has a found a way to reach out to a million hearts through this book. Its all about a struggling author named Ayan and the love of his life, Misha. When they laugh, the world laughs with them. When they cry, the world becomes upset. King of Hearts takes you on a journey, a journey that begins with the road of a struggling author and ends up in a tale of love.
As far as my review is concerned, well, the tale turned out to be as smooth as butter. The usage of language and grammar is really simple. Mr Kevin takes good care to the fact that the readers don’t have to refer to a dictionary every time they stumble upon a new sentence. While going through the pages you will come across two striking interviews, one that makes a heart and one that breaks a heart. One that inspires a soldier from within and the other that betrays the heart from within. For me it’s a love story many would love to live in for real.
A special mention for the book’s cover – It feels great to see how uniquely the cover has been designed. A dual red and white layer has been used to give it a 3D effect which turns out to be really nice.
Coming to the cons, the story turned out to be predictable at times. Lack of any striking twists in between the chapters does fail to attract the mystery hungry minds, but given the fact it’s a tale of love you do tend to flow away with the words.

Otherwise its a full package with love,dedication and twist and turns.

My take:
Ayan, a young boy aged 21 years, moves in to Delhi to pursue his dreams. He has had to pay a heavy price for it. A fight with his fami8ly for not joining their already flourishing business was the cost. Ayan lands up in Delhi with mere amount of cash in his pockets and abundant hope. He befriends Misha and discovers a never-ending bond of friendship with her. Ayan gets his debut novel published and becomes a best-selling author after months of struggle. He confesses his love feelings to Misha who doesn’t acknowledge his love and leaves him forever.
Ayan doesn’t give up on life and acts strong. He manages to write another bestseller. Life takes a great shape for him until the very day that fateful accident occurs. What incident occurs? Does Misha come back to Ayan to help him out? What is Ayan’s story?
The story opens up with a bang which steals the reader’s attention. But as one move towards the end, the progress considerably slows down and the interest kind of diminishes (may be that is cause of Ayan’s sad life). The narration has been engaging. Using simple English is a major advantage because one doesn’t need to open up the dictionary for synonyms every now and then.

The novel requires editing. There were many instances where sms short forms of the words were discovered.

King of Hearts by Mr. Prassant Kevin...This book can 've many aspects...i.e positive as well as negative... but first i'll be more focused on first parameter ..as this book talks about hope, confidence also apart from love &friendship

He 's made two life...personal and professional....
As from these large no plus point ...we can conclude that Prassant has worked hard but something could be implemented...
the title of the book doesn't exactly suite with this beautiful as well romance-full story of the book....
A only little effort was required to make this book from a v.good book to a fantastic one..

I won this book in a giveaway through the Goodreads giveaway program.
The blurb looked very promising and I thought, for once, this would, at the least, have a plot, or a good narrative or even a fresh perspective, but I was disappointed with what I read! Whats worse is that the author is bashful of other Indian authors, which is pretty shameful when your own grammar or storytelling is not up to the mark. Unreal characters, conveniently cliched and practically unbelievable situations, this book has it all. The book became unbearable towards the end and I couldn't get myself to finish it.
To sum up the book (in the author's own words - mind you, this is a real quote from the book) - "It seems as if a baby had written it and adding to the misery there's no literature in that book. It's all fake inside."

The beginning was captivating. I was expecting something good and different story but after that shopping scene it became cliched. I don't understand why a girl and a guy can't be good or best friends, why they have to fall in love at the end of the day in all these novels and movies?? Anyway the writing style is good but the characters are not so well developed. Author has got good potential and should work on good content instead of these fictions(read romance genres or love stories) which comes out every other day.
P.S.: Won in GR Giveaways. (I would not be surprised if a film is made on this book coz it's a good fit for all those boring stereotyped romantic Bollywood flicks.)

King of Hearts by Prassant Kevin is a romantic novel. The plot of the book rotates around two main characters – Ayan and Misha and their relationship with one another. However, there is nothing that you can call creative or something new. In fact, reading the book makes you feel that you have already read a story like this many times.

There were too many grammatical errors in it which really got in the process of reading. What is the use of a book, if it has grammar errors? There is a reason that the teachers used to say read books to improve your English.

The story is about dreaming big & working for it at the same time but it is also about the uncertainty of life while the core of the plot is that true love always unites & stick together till the end no matter what.

King of Hearts is a story of an aspiring author and his eventual success tangled with an angle of friendship and love. It has an emotional ending and that's the only part I liked in the whole story. I'd say a one time read.
