Their last battle ended with death and despair, but they have no time to mourn. One of their own has been taken and the Quinae Praesidia set out to find and rescue her. In this third and last installment of the FIVE series, the FIVE discover new powers, make a desperate run through the Netherworld, land on an island paradise . . . and find that Brone, always a step ahead of them, is becoming more powerful than ever.
Holli Anderson has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing—which has nothing to do with writing, except maybe by adding some pretty descriptive injury and vomit scenes to her books. She discovered her joy of writing during a very trying period in her life when escaping into make-believe saved her. She enjoys reading any book she gets her hands on, but has a particular love for anything fantasy. Along with her husband, Steve, and their four sons, she lives in Grantsville, Utah—the same small town in which she grew up.
Five Out of the Ashes (Five #3) by Holli Anderson Holli Anderson’s Five Out of the Ashes takes place where book two, Out of the Pit left off. Halli was kidnapped by a dragon and remaining five need to rescue her. This story takes place in contemporary United States and in the Netherworld. It is suitable for young adults. Tasked with protecting humankind and gifted with magic the five teenagers undergo one adventure after the next.
All five of the characters grow throughout the story, especially Paige, who underwent the most. I was glad that Surpy was back. He is always good for some comic relief. There were some unexpected surprises with his character. Brone is pure evil. We find out what he has against the Praesidia.
Five Out of the Ashes was full of unexpected twists and action. Parts of the story reminded me of Harry Potter. I think the series would make an excellent movie. The series had a good conclusion, and I felt everything was well resolved.

Received a complimentary copy to read and review. I have loved this series. The third book is great. I love the characters and the world that Holli created. It has some great twists and turns. Readers will be drawn into the story from the very first page.
I enjoyed the story of the Five so much that I really didn’t want it to end, but if it had to end this book ended it well. It felt like both a happy ending and a sad ending in many ways, but the journey through this book and the first two was so engaging to read. This third book did a great job of tying up many of the loose ends from earlier in the story. It introduced new and exciting characters and finished this chapter of the stories in the lives of the Five and a number of secondary characters. If an additional book about the plans being made at the end of the book came out I’d read it in a heartbeat, but I’m also satisfied by the unexpected ending of this trilogy. I would be thrilled to read more about future of the Five or prequels about their predecessor because Holli Anderson is an incredibly talented author who writes stories that grab you and refuse to let go. Her other books are just as engaging as this series is so do yourself a favor and read other books by Holli Anderson (aka H. A. Anderson).
I would like to thank Curiosity Quills Press & NetGalley for a copy of this ebook to review. Though I received this ebook for free, that has no impact upon the honesty of my review.
Goodreads Teaser: Their last battle ended with death and despair, but they have no time to mourn.
This book picks up right where the cliffhanger ending of the second book left off, with the group not victorious, and even worse the youngest member of their five-some has been snatched from their grasp by a giant dragon. Now they must scramble to get Halli back before they face the deadliest foe any Quinae Praesidia have ever known.
As with the other books this is told from Paige's point of view, though we do get insight into the other characters in a variety of ways. By now they've honed their magical abilities quite well, but they're still teenagers, and some are quite young, not yet even fourteen in Halli's case. This time having Paige narrate the story is to its advantage as the worst of the offenses dealt to them land on her shoulders. Betrayed by a trusted ally Paige suffers untold torments and indignities at the hands of her captor, and things seem dire indeed for not only Paige but the rest of the Five. For without Paige they have no hope of defeating Brone. Actually without all Five together they have no hope, and even together it will take everything they've got - possibly even their very lives, to take down this powerful evil. However before they face Brone again they have to find and rescue Halli. Then they still need to navigate their way through an increasingly hostile Netherworld. Along the way they will garner new allies, and meet old enemies. Enemies that have been recruiting power to the dark side.
Once again the characters stay pretty true to form, showing only minor growth. Given that no time has passed between the end of the second book and the start of this final book it makes sense for them not to have changed very much, yet somehow they are stronger in their magical powers. Johnathan and Paige remain madly in love, though still quite chaste compared to teens their age elsewhere. Thus far they've not made it past kissing and hugs, and that's rather refreshing, not to mention a great role model for the rest of the group.
Along with the consistency of the characters the book also moves smoothly through the various plot points, with the arc of the story being well tied to the actions and emotions of the Five. The conclusion of the story doesn't come as a complete surprise, though there are certainly aspects that will likely be unexpected to say the least. On the whole I'd say this was a relatively satisfying end to the trilogy.

This is the epic finale to this trilogy of books. It introduced me to the magical worlds that exist unseen, a wonderful band of characters, and the excruciating battle between good and evil.
We start this story where we left the Quinae Praesidia licking their wounds and grieving for the lost members of their team. They didn't make headway against Brone and Halli was kidnapped by a dragon. The team is struggling to figure out how they work as 4 instead of 5 but they know that finding Halli needs to be a priority. There's magical advances made, some more enemies battled, and ultimately the five gets to reunite to fight the big bad.
Without adding to many spoilers to this review, one of the five gets hurt in ways that are unexpectedly awful. The story takes a decidedly darker turn before we get the big battle to end all other battles. The five get their moment of glory before managing the change the whole world (without them even knowing). This group of characters has grown and changed along the way, but they were still wonderful and fun to read. While I was sad to see this series come to a conclusion, it was great to watch them all get a happy ending.
Received a copy in exchange of an honest review. I was so psyched for this last instalment since I finished the second book, and I have to say Holli Anderson did not disappoint. Here, our Quinae Praesidia is going to face their final battle and it was intense I tell you. It starts off exactly where book two ends and it was all packed with action from there on. From conflict to another conflict, our protagonists rarely get any rest, It was exhausting that I actually took a rest for a little bit there. And when I thought they'd had enough, bigger conflict hits before it finally climaxed.
Nevertheless the plot and writing style is absolutely stunning. Although it was written in first person point of view, it is so easy to connect with the other characters as well. Major page turner. The characters had went through and grew since the first book and I am definitely going to miss them! Love this final book! Totally recommended.
I was drawn in my the cover and the description even though I had not read the other two in the series. I am notorious for doing this however and I find that often times you can differentiate between whether or not it is a good book, or just something people are reading because it's a continuation by how you react as an unknowing reader.
I really loved it. I had no idea who the characters were, or what had just happened and yet I was still able to be drawn into the story and none of that seemed to matter. As the book began I was introduced to the characters, their woes and pains. It didn't matter that I hadn't' read them before cause I was quickly able to pick up on their connections and relationships.
