Hmmmm. Perhaps if I hadn't picked this one up immediately after a Katy Evans binge read, its shortcomings may have been a little less obvious, but unfortunately I did start this immediately after a Katy Evans binge read so this felt like it was a long way away from generating the intensity and heat I've been enjoying in my reading this week.

There was an element of suspense in the plot that seemed pretty far fetched to me, but the biggest problem I had was that the chemistry felt rushed and forced. He was talking about his throbbing cock and bulging balls (I paraphrase here) within seconds of seeing her and I need more than that to feel a connection. I tried to push on, hoping it improved but this isn't working for me I'm afraid so I'm bailing here.

If you're looking for a fast and smutty read this may suit.

I dont know wtf other readers were reading for a five, four, three star review, but I hope it wasn't this?!? Seriously!

Ehhhh 1% in and I get this shit....

Someone is watching me. Shit. Pulling my cap lower over my face, I bend to grab another nail from the toolbox, and sure enough, I see her from the corner of my eye.

I freeze for a long moment, caught in a spell. Man, she's damn pretty with her long hair, the heart-shaped face, and that sweet tight body. >

*cue chills*
*cue heat in his gut*
*cue heat in his balls and dick*
*cue him hard and aching*
*cue a detailed description of all the fuckery he wants to do to her*

All this from a single look at her from the corner of his mfing eye, really? You've got to be shitting me with this crap?!??!???!?

^^^^^ that is the prologue^^^

Then, chapter one is labeled "a day earlier." I hate , and I do mean HATE, when an author writes a prologue and then starts the timeline for chapter one before the fucking prologue. I think authors need to Google wtf a prologue actually is! Anyhoooooo...

I keep reading despite my better judgment. Mistake! This is a cheese puff factory of OCD sexual thoughts in alternating POV.

The "suspenseful" danger plot point and his reaction... Well, that's just laughable.

Listen, I love fantasy. I love romance. I love suspense. But, this shit is like reading unicorns in spanx being chased by leprechauns. Just not the way I roll:/ If that's your thing, then by all means read away. As for me...

I love how Jo Raven’s stories pull you right in! No dilly dallying around! It’s thrill after thrill from the moment when the two main characters meet until the climatic end! There always seems like a lot going on in a Jo Raven book, and she never disappoints her readers.

This was insta-sex almost from the very beginning. Not that I’m not in for a steamy romp in the sheets, but it seemed a bit much at times. Yes, there was a story here – in fact, there were two; his and hers. But, I’m more of an angsty sexual tension sort of gal. Don’t get me wrong, their stories were great, and I never knew what was going to happen next – unpredictability is my joy – but hitting the sheets every other page got a little boring. The intimacy level, though, was off-the-charts HOT as I needed to recuperate after each encounter...if you know what I mean. LOL!!! And, for some reason, Ms. Raven’s book just seem a little short. I always feel myself needing more of her entertaining characters and their lives.

Storm was a sweet and generous male even with packing the body of a God, which just made me swoon...ahhhh!!! While Raylin was smart and courageous. There was more surprise about her as the reader gets to know her within the book. She’s way more than just a scared young woman on the run. She’s a survivor. Together Storm and Ray figure out just how much trouble both of their lives are in. And, their stories pack a punch when the bitter details are revealed in the end. I was over the moon with Storm’s two friends, Hawk and Rook. Both were sarcastic alpha-males that had an edge to them that reeked of danger and survival. And, they were funny too with a somewhat dry sense of humor. Can’t wait to dive into their books! Should be one hell of a ride! I was a little surprised that we never got to meet Ray’s dad or brother since they were mentioned so much and held such an important piece to her story.

This was an exciting start to Ms. Raven’s new series with promises to boast both romance and suspense. Can’t ever go wrong when picking up a novel written by this author. With strong characters and an exciting story, one can only hold their breath as to what will happen next. You will not be disappointed!

Oh, and how about that cover? It just begs for you to read this book. Simply Gorgeous!!!

Interesting first in series 3.5 stars.

I was actually looking for a different book when I came across this, the blurb and reviews were good so I thought I may as well give it a try.
Since there's already a lot of reviews I'll skip my usual summary and get straight to my thoughts, which are mixed, well kind of.
For the longest time I just wasn't sure, something seemed to be missing I wasn't connecting to the characters and therefore not fully invested in the story.
There was enough here to keep me reading and by the time I'd reached the end I'd really enjoyed it and I will most likely continue on with the rest of this series.
I've been trying to work out what was missing and I'm not sure, not very helpful I know.
There's a lot here, way more than I expected even after the blurb I thought most of the drama would come from Raylin but it turns out Storm has plenty of his own drama going on.
I liked both Storm and Raylin plus Hawk and Rook, I should also mention there's a lot of sex in this book it's definitely steamy.

Move over Angelina and Brad

Hot & dangerous!

Split into two parts the first being Ray & Storm meeting getting to know and trust each other before the heat begins.

lots of sex, action and secrets start this couples steamy romance. A little slow upto 45% mainly sex and getting to know each other before moving into troubles waters.

Part two is like an action film, fast paced, danger, more secrets, mystery crimes to solve, angst and drama and this hot couple face it like Angelina and Brad in Mr & Mrs Smith.

Great on the edge of your seat action packed read

This was a brilliant sexy and suspenseful read. I basically sat and read this in one afternoon. Unputdownable.

Storm and Raylin are both running from their past. Raylin finds herself taking a few days rest at a beach house. While there she meets the oh so hot Storm. They are both hiding secrets they are reluctant to share however as we progress through the book those secrets are revealed. Will it destroy them?

I love these two characters. The chemistry between them is so hot. Great secondary characters added so much to the story. Looking forward to reading more of this series. I loved it.

This one was a bit different. You kinda just had to go with things, far fetched thoe they may be.

I did like that both Storm and Ray were there for each other from the start. Both learned bad things, but had the other to lean on. Storm's friends were asses at first, but once they realized that Storm wasn't crazy they gave him and Ray all the support they needed. I liked how this one ended, glad there was a HEA on many different fronts.

I liked the bit at the end where Ray was tied to the Inked Brotherhood series in Rafe's book. Nice to see these 2 women be able to speak again.

Too rushed and immature for my taste. It's a "new adult" but they weren't too adult and there isn't anything new here. A rushed attraction, overly dramatic backstory on both characters, and the writing isn't anything special. Also, the formatting is really annoying. Double spaces between every paragraph. Why?
If you like your romances light on realism and heavy on groping sex, this is your ticket!

Ok .. so … Its hard for me when I do a little research and find out a book is a spin off or part of a series that I haven’t had the pleasure of reading. That also seems to affect my rating some as I feel that I never know the entire story of the characters involved. However I was assured this was not the case in Storm; the first book in the Sex and Bullets series. I did wonder more about Megan and Rafe but again that’s from a different series of Jo’s.

Diving into this first book we have a lot of suspense, numerous lies and a whole lot of attraction. I did find it very interesting that the lead female; Raylin was so young as in 19 years young. Strom was not that old himself; only 21. Honestly it made me feel sorry for the characters and then hand that life had dealt the both of them.

Raylin is on the run and has been for over two years. Storm is hiding from his life. Both aren’t looking for anything but when they explode together … watch out. This was certainly a love affair with bullets and danger flying through the pages. The web of lies gets stickier and bigger as you move through the pages. There is a lot going on in both these characters lives. I seriously wanted to punch both of their families. However I will say Hawk and Rook are back on my good side. I did get a little confused towards the end as there was so much going on but after going back and reading more carefully things were more clear. We also are introduced to Rook and Hawk. Hawk has some interesting things going on in his life and he is our next story in the series. I will be watching for that release for sure.

This was a really good read. I would have liked more information and more depth to who exactly a certain group of men were but I wont spoil that for you as a reader. I look forward to reading more from Jo Raven! Thank you for the ARC! Review to post on Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.

*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review*
Whew! I have to say that Storm is unlike any others books that I have read by Jo Raven. This is what I would refer to as sexy suspense and she kept me enthralled and tantalized till the very last word. She has proven that no matter how the stories differ that she is still phenomenal. I have been a fan girl of Jo Raven for quite some time and I noticed that her writing style still shines through. Her characters were still troubled and oh so sexy, just with a heavier dose of angst and danger. Boy does she make danger look good! This story of Raylin and Storm was an actual spin off of her much loved Inked of Brotherhood series. It is a stand alone so therefore no prior knowledge is required but once you get a taste of Jo Raven's writing, you will want to devour all of her steamy books and delectable characters. Storm and Raylin's love story is turbulent, all consuming, and a whirlwind that sweeps you away into their mysterious world. Secrets, sex and bullets surround this couple and keep the reader intrigued.

Storm is a sexy, tattooed, conflicted individual who spends his time running from his problems both literally and figuratively. He is hiding from his life and friends who think that he is delusional and paranoid. When he happens to run into the beautiful, frightened, and independent Raylin, he is enchanted and blown away by her body and soul. This story will make you fall in love with the beginning of the Sex and Bullets series as well as Raylin and Storm. I cannot wait to see what Hawk and Rook have in store for us in the following books in the series. Jo Raven does troubled bad boys and sassy heroines in an addicting style all her own. I recommend for a provocative, action packed, romance that will entertain and entice.

I was gifted an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am an avid reader of Jo Raven's books and have loved them. Unfortunately, this one was only an okay read to me. Storm is the first book in a new series and is also a spin-off of the author's Inked Brotherhood series. The main character Raylin, was Meghan's roommate from Rafe's book (Meghan was the main character). Reading Rafe, I was curious about Raylin and what kind of trouble she was running from. Storm, the hero was a mystery and he intrigued me. I loved how they were attracted to each other right from the start and really got each other. The supporting characters of Hawk and Rook were also interesting, and I just want to learn more about their friendship.

This was only an okay read for me because I had trouble connecting with the characters. I felt like knowing more about their background or actually reading flashback scenes may have helped with my connecting to the characters. I also did not like how the mystery or action of the story wasn't exactly solved in one book. It is connected with the other books that will be in this series about Hawk and Rook.

Although I did not enjoy this book like the others written by this author, I will still continue to read the next books in the series.

I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, suspense, betrayal, and heartbreak.

This is Raylin and Storm’s story. Raylin is on the run. When she comes across Storm she is attracted to him but knows she must stay away in order to keep him out of danger. The more she wants to run from Storm the closer he wants her to be. Can he keep her safe from his past? With people after them both how can they really hide? When secrets are revealed will they be able to stay together or will their pasts both try to take them out. Can Storm and Raylin work together to solve the mystery of his family’s deaths? Will it be who they expected? Can Storm protect Raylin? Will these two be able to stay together? Or will she run after he learns of her past?

I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.

I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from this author.

REVIEW
Wow, this book is sizzling hot. We get Raylin who is on the run from someone wanting to kill her. She ends up in hot and sunny Florida where she meets the sexy tatted guy Storm.
Storm is also on the run so maybe that is why he is so drawn to Raylin?
This couple is drawn to each other. And when the sparks fly so does everything else.

I hope to read more books in this series.

I read this book in a box set so I am leaving my honest review.

Truly enjoyed this book. Full of suspense and HOT HOT HOT times between Raylin and Storm. In the beginning we learn that Raylin is on the run. She meets Storm and we quickly learn he is hiding out as well. Raylin does not want to get Storm involved but little does she realize Storm isn’t able to give her up that easily. Such a creative story line. I could not put this book down. I LOVE Jo Raven!

This was my first Jo Raven book and it did not disappoint! Strong heroine with crazy hot alpha males who have a dangerous side are my favorite combination and make for incredible sex scenes. And lately I've been on a dark romance kick, so this was perfect. I devoured Ry and Storm's story in record time and can't wait to read more of Jo Raven's masterpieces.

Storm and Raylin are both running away and hiding, but their circumstances are different. Still, they work together and complement each other. The thing that gets them together is sex, but as they get to know each other they realize they want more than that. Together they fight mafias and assassins and manage to survive. It's different from other works from Jo Raven, but it's still her style, and I liked it. This one has even more sex, plus bullets and bad guys. I liked the change and the guys that are introduced. It's a stand alone novel, but you can't wait to read about Hawk and Rook, Storm's friends.

So this was interesting. Raylin has been on the run for a couple of years from a very dangerous group of people. She has broken into an unoccupied beach house in Boca Raton. She notices a super hot guy in a nearby house, and on a particularly stormy night, when she sees him running on the beach, she runs out to warn him about the storm (as if he didn't notice?). Storm, the hot guy, knows she doesn't own the home she's staying in, but he lets her keep up her ruse for a couple of days. In the meantime, he invites her for dinner (during which Raylin suspects Storm is squatting like she is), they have wicked chemistry and she runs away. But one taste was enough to be drawn together. Raylin has no idea who Storm is. Storm has been hiding from his own life for a while because he believes people are out to kill him, as he suspects they did his uncle and his parents. So when the bullets start flying, Raylin believes they're for her. And that's about when she finds out that Storm is *not* squatting in the very nice beach house, but is, in fact, a really rich guy. Which she takes as some kind of betrayal that he didn't tell her. But thankfully, he sort of makes her come with him to keep her safe, and she goes because she has nowhere else to go. And, it turns out, Storm's friend can help Raylin with her problem. Along the way, she starts to realize Storm really is the guy she met, not an asshole rich guy, plus they sort of balance each other out. I'm not sure what will happen in future stories, because Storm's two good friends' fathers were involved in Storm's parents' and uncle's deaths, and they've just turned the fathers in. But I can't imagine that "The Organization" will go down that easily. So I'll have to keep reading. Besides, I'm sure Hawk and Rook will get their own interesting stories.

It's so good to start a new book from this author and I'm thrilled to start a new series because one book isn't enough for me.
Every single book written by this lady had made me smile, cursed, blushed and so much more. I was shocked, I was happy, I was sad you name it but overall I lived and loved every second of it.
Jo Raven is the one to blame. She's a genius when it came to books because her words will be stucked on your mind for a long long time. You'll see. Her writing is hot, simple, intense, full of meaning and purpose.
Now let's start a new series and get ready for what she has in store for us.
Storm is the first book from the Sex and Bullets series and tell the stories of Storm and Raylin.
Raylin is on the Run. She needs to hide and fast because the men that are chasing her want her dead thanks to her dad's debts. She just needs to be of radar for a while but things aren't easy.
Storm has his secrets as well. What is a good-looking man hidden away in his beach house?
What is he hiding?
Let me just say that I'm stunned. What a book this was...
The plot is superb, super engaging, full of mystery, suspense and hotness into the mix. The interation between the characters is intense, raw and real! Dayum the way the story progressed made me so into it that I couldn't and wouldn't put it down. I needed to know what the hell was going on. Jeez the suspense levels are high as a kite. There were parts of the story that I wanted to scream bloody murder. Dayum... Just Dayum.
Get ready for the journey of your life full of feelings, madness, crime and with some pretty hot stuff that will soak your panties.
Dayum Jo you're a genius. Can't wait to start Hawk.

Raylin the heroine was mentioned but never actually appeared in the Rafe book of the Inked Brotherhood series. (BTW it was nice to see her reunited with former roommate Megan in this one.) She's on the run from a Chinese triad and has broken into/is living in an unoccupied mansion on the Florida coast when the story opens. Next door a very hot man is living. Raylin thinks he either is the gardener there (she sees him doing work on the property) or he's broken into that mansion. They meet and sparks fly. His name is Storm, and he's hiding out from what he feels have been repeated attempts on his life. His cousins/best friends think the occurrences are just coincidences, and that he's just being paranoid. Storm hasn't been in touch with anyone from his normal life (including the cousins) since he came to Florida. Raylin and Storm share some steamy scenes as they fall for each other. Their demons (his or hers?) catch up with them in Florida, and they end up going to Storm's hometown of Baltimore. Raylin and Storm each have a hard time trusting, and only bit by bit share their secrets with each other. And it turns out Storm has been concealing a major fact from Ray... This book isn't as good as the Inked Brotherhood/Damage Boys series, but I am interested enough to read the next one in this new series to see how it develops.

Raylin is on the run from the Chinese mafia. Her father and brother shortchange some business associates and they come after Raylin for the payment. Raylin takes a one way ticket to Florida to find temporary housing. While she is on the beach she notices a house that is sitting vacant and decides to break in for a temporary home. While she is there she meets Storm, a tattooed guy working on repairing a fence a few houses down. They hit it off but Raylin is hesitant to get close to Storm because she is on the run. Storm knows something is not quite right with Raylin. Raylin tells him a story and Storm figures out there is more to it. Storm has a few secrets of his own though. He is running from an affluent family trying to sort out his life. Eventually Raylin comes clean to Storm. And Storm reveals his secrets as well. Storm helps Raylin settle the debt owed to the Chinese mafia. This was a very good read! Suspenseful at moments and kept my interest to keep turning the pages. Well done Jo Raven!

Storm and Ray make for two exciting persons of interest. Both on hiding and looking for a way out but unsure of who to trust. Ray has been going from place to place for years since her father left her holding the bag - trying to never for attachments and running for her life. Its been so hard and dangerous and frankly scary and she disheartened. Storm has been fending off attacks from unknown assailants that have threatened to take his life and have killed people around him. Unsure of why he is a target he goes in to hiding until he can figure out whom or why this happening. When these two meet they feel a unique connection that comes from a shared life experience. But when the bullets start flying and assailants move in will they be able to fend off the forces that threaten to tear them apart?

I love the author but I had troubles with this one. It may be ME!!! Not the book itself. Two things 1) I don't like 'set-ups' where the H/h does something really stupid that you know is going to bite them in the arse later--altho in this case does go along with the H's issues 2) I discovered the drug addiction really bothered me--I was in the Coke scene in the 80s but luckily putting a roof over my head was more important than the white powder. Quitting smoking was a nightmare and took a few 'takes'. I'd probably be on/off smoking still if my asthma had not gotten worse. I've also had bf and close friends that have crashed and burned from addition. I think it just got all to close in a very uncomfortable way. I love all of Jo Raven's other books; it's my personal issues that got me (and now I know). I gave it 2 stars b/c its not the author's fault it hit an unknow raw spot.

This book was okay, it just wasn’t one of my favorite Jo Raven reads. We first heard about Raylin in Rafe. She was Megan’s roommate who left with only a note. We find out throughout this book what she is running from. She lands in Florida where she meets Storm. He is also hiding and has some secrets of his own. They are immediately attracted to each other but both are scared that the things they are hiding from can hurt the other person. There is some mystery in this novel that I think will impact the other books in this series. I did like this book but not as much as the Inked Brotherhood or the Damage Control series.

Looking for insta-love. You will get it here.

With everything that these characters have going on in their lives, how they just decide to trust each other off the bat is just unbelievable.

If I think and/or know someone is out to get me, I am going to be suspicious of every single person around me. That would be especially true of strangers who show up out of the blue and ingratiate themselves into my life.

Then to have people I count on, who don't believe me when I tell them something isn't right. There is not that much coincidence in the world.

Still, the writing wasn't half bad, it just needed to be edited a bit.

My rating is 3 stars. Why not 5? Well, as a huuuuge fan of Jo Raven's writing, this story was too fast-paced for my liking. I did enjoy the story line, I quite liked the characters. But this instalove is not my thing. Never was, never will be. They jump to bed immediately and boom, we have love. Love so strong that apparently common sense goes out of the window with these two. Also, after reading Rafe, I wasn't a big fan of Raylin, and she didn't manage to worm her way into my heart. All these events happen withing what, 2 weeks or something like that. That's just waaaay too fast to make this romance believable.
