Cozy Mystery

Clara Morgan had it all, or so she thought. Her own home, a car, and her own business were all Clara had ever dreamed of. Then one day she finds a baby on her shop step and her entire world changes.

Who is the child’s mother and why did she choose Clara? As Clara takes the baby in and works with the police she starts to uncover clues to the baby’s origins but with every new clue the threat of danger increases.

Clara finally discovers who baby Selena’s mother is but the girl refuses to cooperate with her. Clara knows the girl is hiding something and Clara is determined to get it out of her.

The first clue is a bracelet found on Selena when Clara takes her in. But how did a girl from one of the poorest parts of the city get such an expensive bracelet and what is the danger that makes the girl so afraid for her and Selena’s life?

As Clara delves deeper into the girl’s story she uncovers the hard realities of the girl’s life and has to make some choices of her own, including what to do with baby Selena who she’s grown to cherish. Clara knew that caring for the foundling would prove joyous but hard, but she had no idea just how hard that decision would be.

Clara Morgan owns a shoe store. A baby is left on the doorstep of her shop with a note to please take care of Selina, because she and the mother are in danger. She calls what I assume is the UK equivalent of Child Protective Services, and is told that the system doesn’t have enough foster care homes, so if she’s willing, she can take care of the child, which she happily agrees to do. She has no boyfriend and has never thought about being a mother, but somehow she knows she wants to do it. Her friends help. While the baby is being checked out at the hospital, she and the friends go out and buy all the necessities. Clara's mother comes to take care of the baby. The handsome constable investigating the case just happens to have a roomful of baby furniture left from his daughter’s babyhood and brings it over. This was a cute story, but there wasn't much of a mystery - the question of Selina's mother is solved quite easily, and there really wasn't much conflict.

This was just awful - she got left a baby on her doorstep but because Social was far too busy they decided to let her keep the baby and 2 weeks later she adopted her. Ive got a few more to read so I apologise in advance

This is yet short cozy mystery by S.Y. Robins, but I think this might have been an earlier work. The writing isn’t as good as her other works. Don’t let that distract you from buying though. Clara is a young up and coming business owner who discovers a baby on her doorstep one morning. She decides to be the foster mom while she searches out the birth mother. Her two best friends and mom come to the rescue to help out. It’s an admirable story, just needs some editing. I am definitely going to read more by this author!!
