Shino becomes increasingly worried when Nakaya mentions his new-found interest in childish anime and yaoi drama CDs. What Nakaya didn't mention was his interest in hot hockey player, Fuse Akihi! Meanwhile, things heat up for Shino when a new face arrives at the studio as Mizusawa and Tenryu continue to vie for Shino's attention. What will happen when all these emotions reach the boiling point?

Called one of Takaguchi's best works, Shout Out Loud! is a fun, smart story packed with a love triangle, a budding romance, and enough angst to fan the flames of Yaoi lovers everywhere. Rated for older teens.

I really like the idea of this series, but the pacing is just...so weird...? Maybe my issue was that I was taking it too seriously, when it's more of a madcap humorous harem deal? I don't know, but I'm still not seeing any actual relationships developing, but everything's rushing full speed ahead anyway.

The realism I liked in the first volume is kinda flying out the window here...this is a BL portrayal of the VA world, rather than an actual depiction of what it'd be like to be career-driven VAs toiling away at work that isn't necessarily their passion projects. I was expecting/hoping for the latter but this story just doesn't seem to be it. Instead, we now have Tenryu and Mizusawa openly confessing their interest in Shino both to him and on live radio, which just...would not happen...

And Mizusawa corners Shino and kisses him and brags about that on radio, which leads to Tenryu bragging that he kissed Shino first (although Shino was drunk and unconscious at the time).

I have no idea what happened to the live-in boyfriend Mizusawa supposedly had in volume 1, because he certainly doesn't seem to be around anymore. And Tenryu, rather than bonding with Shino over both being single dads, just advises Shino to forget about his son like he did with his daughter.

So far, neither candidate is that likable, and Shino also doesn't seem to be developing actual feelings for either of them? He's just getting dragged back and forth between them like the stereotypical uke he's been playing in all those drama CDs.

Meanwhile, Nakaya, who'd had a pregnancy scare with his girlfriend in volume 1 (mirroring his parents' high school story), is now instead in love with the male coach of the junior hockey team, who turns out to be gay as well and also interested in him, so that's plunging ahead full steam. Their dynamic is actually a little better, though, because they're talking to each other slightly more and have common interests. But it's still moving way too fast, without any focus on building actual chemistry.

I dunno...I was really hopeful about this series, but so far it's kind of a dud. Maybe it'll pick up as it goes on?

The author extras at the end of each volume are also weird and kind of make no sense, so maybe this is just...how they write. I was hoping for more actual plot. Like. What IS going on with Tenryu's daughter? Why even give him one if he's totally abandoned her? What happened to Nakaya's grandmother's plot to get him back from his father? Is any of that going to be addressed at all, or are we just going to introduce 15 more characters to fight over dating Shino?

Second of a five part yaoi manga series about a long-separated father and son trying to build a relationship while dealing with other upheavals in their lives. Shino's an anime voice actor. Now he has a son to support, he's started taking on any roles he's offered -- including yaoi audio dramas. Nakaya's a teenager not quite old enough to be independent, but old enough to be initially very uncomfortable with his father's job. It doesn't really help that he's noticed the interest some of Shino's colleagues are showing in him, even if the unworldly Shino hasn't.[return][return]This volume sees some development in the various plotlines set up in volume 1. Shino may be innocent, but even he can't help noticing when his colleague Mizusawa invites him home and then kisses him very thoroughly. And passing it off as a bad case of bringing the job home stops working when Mizusawa and Tenryu start squabbling over him on a live radio show. Especially when Tenryu mentions having kissed Shino when Shino got drunk and passed out one night... Nakaya is trying to protect his father's virtue, but he's distracted by his own problems, not least of which is getting a crush on one of the ice hockey coachs.[return][return]As with the first volume, the focus is on story and character development rather than sex, although the UST gets a bit less U in this one. There are several well-developed characters here and a number of potential relationships hinted at for both Shino and Nakaya. It's a sweet and often very funny story that kept me reading, guessing at how things might play out. The sex is limited to kissing, but is none the worse for that. The artwork is beautiful, and includes quite a selection of hot guys. Once again this series scores highly on both the eye candy and brain candy.[return][return]It's possible to pick up the story with this volume, but I'd strongly recommend starting with the first volume in the series.[return][return]Comments thread: http://julesjones.livejournal.com/126...

I feel each book should concentrate on at least one or two characters because it is too much juggling all of the names and etc. other than that it is an awesome story.
