Dr. Riley Blake left New York and moved to a small town in Maine after inheriting his uncle's house. Unfortunately, a disturbing part of his past follows him. The last thing Sheriff Marcus Cameron really had time for was a new relationship. As the son of the alpha of the largest werewolf pack in the area, he had a duty to his family. But Riley Blake is a gorgeous temptation, and he's always been rather fond of giving into his baser instincts.
A very, very pleasant surprise. Marcos' characters are fleshed-out, likable, and competent without tipping over into Marty Stu territory. Even the secondary characters are engaging and enjoyable to get to know. Her dialogue is amazing. Natural and witty, there's a humor in Marcos' writing you don't find often in contemporary romance. Or any romance, for that matter. It's really quite difficult to find truly witty romance.
The romantic aspect of the story was handled with aplomb. I loved the natural progression of Marcus and Riley's regard because it was strained while also seeming entirely effortless. Their relationship felt real, and that's highly refreshing in a genre filled with instalove, enemies with bennies, and dubious consent. This is right up there in the top ten paranormal books I've ever read, and I've read a lot. This is definitely a book I'll keep on my Kindle to read again, and I can't wait for the next in the series.

This was almost really good, and I enjoyed most of it, but the ending was just really disappointing. It had a good (if unoriginal) plot, and the dialogue and witty banter made me chuckle a few times. I really enjoyed the characters. But then the ending happened: spoilers below ⬇️
They talked about mating (bite) several times, but it doesn’t actually happen during the book. Riley doesn’t shift. Marcus shifts like once I think. There’s no epilogue. It felt like the author got bored with the story and couldn’t be bothered to finish it properly.

My friend -- who was a pretty tough consumer *lol* recommended this and I really liked it. I thought this was quite a refreshing take on MM werewolves story. One thing for sure, it wasn't overwhelmed with the usual cliché of me-mine-mate plot. I also really liked both MC's, who were strong in personality, very competent in their professional life, and fit nicely with each other's life. I liked the dialogues too, light and entertaining.
However, at times the info dump felt like a detailed lecture about werewolves, their traditions, behavior, pack dynamic, even how to created a werewolf. Plus the romance a bit dry and too matter-of-fact, and did the story missed some pages in the beginning when Marcus first ogled Riley?
I did love the family though, and the busybodies of the small town. That made me smile. Would definitely return to this universe shall Marcos write more about the other members of the pack.
The story was straight forward; no beating around the bush, no lame misunderstanding, no long suffering pinning, while it's save me from the pain of those it's felt lack of emotions which I'm expecting from a romance story. I didn't feel thousand-skeletal-butterflies-in-my-stomach(N) on their first kiss. One minute they talked about werewolf on their first date, next minute Riley said 'You should kiss me' and then they kissed.
This story was more like a 101 Guide Book to Werewolf World instead of romance story, with long dialogue-descriptions about werewolf world which dominated the whole story. I end up skipped them. They talked and talked about the asshole ex but when the asshole ex made appearance, it only lasted two pages, pretty much showed up to die.
The upside of this story was the Cameron family and the small town atmosphere.
The author is one of my all-time favourite fanfiction authors. So I was very interested to read how her story telling translates into original fiction.
Small warning: Very explicit m/m sex scenes.
The first chapter starts right in, not much setting up or beating around the bush. I guess, with only 167 pages to go you have to step on it... However, the beginning felt a little as if I was missing some information.
A lot of dialogue, little descriptive text. And when there is, sentences are sometimes less than smooth and with repetitions. Or wrongly placed, duplicate or missing words and grammatical errors. An additional editor would have done a world of good here, especially considering the asking price of the book.
The book is basically one big conversation. A lot of the dialogue reminds me of Keira's fanfiction. Wording, humour, snark, it's all there. In my mind I've dubbed the main characters John and Rodney, instead of Marcus and Riley.
And while I did like the conversational style of the story, I would have liked a little more plot and things actually happening, rather than people talking about the prospect of it happening.
I had some problems to keep track of the many characters. Every now and then a name would be dropped and I would have to think hard about who that was.
Regardless of all my above mentioned quibbles I really enjoyed reading this and did so in (almost) one sitting (damn you, sleep!). Good climax at the end.
I am pretty sure I will get the sequel, once it is available.
Riley and Marcus are nice MCs who communicate, a lot. The book was good at character interaction, not very good at scene setting, back story, etc. No sense of place and general lack of atmosphere let it down. I would have liked to have seen Marcus and Riley's fist meeting. To me that's a crucial point in a relationship, especially a romantic one.
Not much angst here, and what little we have is all behind the scenes, except for the final chapter that ends in up being pretty violent. I surprised myself by giving this book 3.75 stars and rounding up to four.
Nice, easy read.
Thank you for the rec, Rhema!
PS LOTS of info dump, but somehow it wasn't painful or annoying. Humor helped :)
Good built up but anti-climatic finish. Throughout the book, there is a dangerous character lurking in the background and the threat of violence grew progressively as the antagonist's verbal abuse escalated. When the attack finally happened, it took a secondary character only a couple of meneuvers to neutralize the attacker. Two paragraphs were all it took to described what should have been the climax of the book. There was no heart stopping fight, no big showdown between hero and villan. In fact, the 'hero' only showed up after the end of the attack. So the finish was extremely disappointing. I did still enjoy the book because there is no fabricated melodrama by MCs who either behave like whiny teenagers or over-reacting neantherdals. Just a story of 2 mature, communicative adults getting to know each other and falling in love. All the other characters in the book are perfectly likeable as well and I will probably pick up the next book to read more about them
Having said that, I do find the pricing of the book at almost AUD6 excessive. The book is less than 200 page in length. On top of that, this is the first book of a series so a lot of its words were not story telling but essentially world building - explaining the werewolf lore and the creatures' place in our world. So at the end of it, I did feel massively short-changed.
January 2022 I still liked the story and the characters ... but the relationship development in this one is strange ... and there is no real development on the feelings. is like; ok everyone says we are great together so we are together .... a bit strange nevertheless, I would like to read more from that pack
January 2018 I liked the story and the characters which would mean a solid 4 star read. but although these two were perfect for each other I missed the tension between them and a real relationship development
Why are you sitting there reading this review when you could be reading Fall for You instead? The characters are vivid and seem to step off the page. The town and its residents will resonate with anyone that has ever lived in a small town. Then there's the smoking hot sex between the sheriff and his hot doctor. *fans self*
A must read for any fan of the supernatural and gay erotica.
I have to agree with many reviewers here, this story was hilarious and is amazingly well written. I liked both MC's and wouldn't mind reading more about them. But to be sincere the main romance was personally to mechanical. I couldn't feel any real emotion between Riley and Marcus. There was an attraction for sure, but that's all.
Marcos' writing is smart and snappy, with just the right amount of snark, fun and romance thrown in. I really enjoyed the pack structure that she has created here, and while most of the werewolf/shifter tropes are here, they are also twisted just a bit to suit Marcos' world. I love this when an author puts a genre on its ear and Marcos does that with aplomb. Insta-lust here but with a slow burn that makes me want to revist this world for more of Riley and Marcus, as well as the rest of the supporting cast members.
Oh man, this was so good! I love this author so much and I'm so happy she's expanded out from writing fanfiction. :)
The pacing of the book was excellent as was the character building; there is a lot of background information on how the packs work/are run but I found it really interesting and it sets up well for the next book in the series. An indicator as to how good I found the book...I started the book and didn't put it down until I had finished it; right now I'm sitting here thinking of reading it again. lol Great first official novel and I can't wait until the next one is released!
What a lovely surprise that was!! I enjoyed so much reading this book. The dialogues, the interactions between ALL the characters, the banter, the conversations between the two MCs ( I loved Riley’s “no BS” attitude) were soooo good! The romance was meh and lukewarm but all the other things listed above made this a really interesting and fun read. Too bad the author didn’t keep up with this series because she writes so good and she shapes some interesting characters. I would love to read another book from this author that isn’t a fanfic .
4.5 stars. This was so much fun to read. It did need some editing for missing and inverted words and the steam/possessiveness level was also less than I usually like in my shifter novels. HOWEVER, it was replaced by this matter-of-fact, straightforward, open interrelating/style of communication between the MCs, in and out of bed, that really worked for me. And the secondary characters were a riot. I cannot wait to read more by this author.
Really enjoyed this and loved that both the MC's and supporting characters were fleshed out and enjoyable to read. Riley and Marcus played off each other really and especially liked Riley' s interactions with Marcus's family - hope Jared gets a book.
Looking forward to more from this series - love shifter stories and this one was slightly different from the norm.
This is not the usual shifter m/m.....there is a lot of explaining going on which, in this first story, was appreciated. I look forward to the next installment.
DNF 56% And I typically will finish everything, even books I hate and am gritting my teeth to get through. I still need to know how they end.
But this one is just a total bore. I don't need to know how it ends, I already know - as perfectly pleasant as it was throughout. It's a cute town with a cute couple and some cute family and minimal outside threat. Everything is fine. Fine fine fine. And BORING. We hear about how he is setting up his new office, how he is hiring new employees, how he responds to the scene of a crime, what the proper procedure is for that, how to work his stove. I can see the writer's fanfiction roots, because of the description of every.single.aspect of domesticity. That's great when you are a fandom stan, and you want more of the domesticity you never see from your couple on screen. Not so much when you are a book reader, and you want the actual action of a story and the heat of a romance.
If you are someone who likes your books for the steam - nope. The action came at 50% and it was detailed and pleasant. Pleasant. Not really the word I want to use for a steamy scene.
If you are someone who liked teeth rotting sweetness - nope. The couple is very sweet, but this is no insta-love or obsessive devotion. This is a very practical courtship and relationship, and the guys turn out to be a good match. It's nice, it's sweet, it's pleasant. Pleasant. Heck, the guys had actually already met OFF page before the book starts, and we are just TOLD they found each other attractive then. So now it's just a matter of going on some dates and seeing where this takes them. The first meeting wasn't even considered important, that's how little this book builds up chemistry between these guys. It's just a polite attraction from the jump.
If this was a fanction, and I was reading weekly installments of my favorite couple settling in to a new relationship, I would probably enjoy this. But as a book, sitting down to read til it's finished - it was a chore. Can't recommend.
This is my first read by this author. Keira has a nice flowing writing style that drags you into the world that she is creating. Her descriptions and world building are on point.
Unfortunately I felt that the romance was lacking, in fact there was none. Their 1st kiss was so damn boring🙄🙄. Marcus sees Riley, likes how he looks and then BOOM everyone starts calling Riley, Marcus's doctor.
The dialogue between these two was great to read and between all the secondary characters. Kent seems like the picture perfect town everyone wants to live in.
Sex was mediocre at best, I felt no chemistry between Marcus and Riley. The plot was predictable and so over done by other authors.
Sadly this book could have been so much more had Keira invested more time into their romance then the history of werewolf society.
More of a 3.5 than 4 for me, but I'll bump it up because the writing was good for the genre. A bit heavy on soap opera in latter half, but since it's supposed to be part of the series, it's okay as long as some of those threads will be followed up on in later installments. That said, main couple's story is wrapped up well enough and the sequel will probably be a standalone. Or so I hope, at least - I'm not really that into post-gettogether romance. (Won't mind it if the main plot is something else, but it doesn't seem to be the case in these series.)
So I would rate this a lot higher, but the excessive dialogue and lack of description kills it. I also felt underwhelmed, because Riley never got to fully explore his wolf side and the ending was so damned rushed. If you read this, be prepared for very little description, and heavy heavy dialogue. Often it can be hard to keep track on what is happening, and it can be confusing at the best of times. Overall it was a pleasant read, and I may even read the second book depending on the pairings.

3+ Fall for You is definitely one of the much better novels in this genre. Many of the usual clichées and tropes were blissfully absent and I loved the humour in the dialogue and the quirky characters. On a small downside, I felt it got a little too much talk and not enough action and the ending was less dramatic than I'd anticipated. Regardless, I'm going to keep a look out for the next book in this series!
I have to say I loved the Doctor. Marcus was great as well, his whole family with him, still Riley was the one who kept me glued to the book. There's some angst but not too much and mostly skimmed over. The book concentrates on relationship between main characters and only from time to time adds some backstory to mix things up.
