Best known for drawing superhero comics, there's another side to Gene Ha. Oddities and Apocrypha, the first Gene Ha art book, collects works outside the books of Marvel and DC Comics. Within, you'll find his stories set in the worlds of David Petersen (Mouse Guard), Bill Willingham (Fables, Back Roads) and Lowell Francis. Also, we've gathered the finest of his legendary marker sketches from the last 15 years.
I don't have too much insightful to say about this book. I picked this up from the artist at a conference. I'd previously enjoyed his art on Alan Moore's Top Ten. This book demonstrates the diversity of styles and meda in which he can work. It's a quick read, but provides good insight into his life as an artist.
Glorious fanart, Batman! Some amazing convention requests displayed here. Along with some great concept story art for potential comics. I sincerely would read the mysteries Edward Nigma would try to solve. Come on DC Comics, get on that! On the other notes I found some adorable holiday pup cards, a brownie recipe (yum), and an old school Doctor illustration (at least of 5, 7, and 8). Snippet of K-9 there on the side. All in all, a well constructed art book showing off the artist's work he did with his friends in mind.
