Sometimes you pick up a title that features a couple of new authors and you begin to see a pattern emerge. One writer is actually better than the other and after awhile you notice that the other writer is carrying the entire book on his shoulders. Ever have that experience? It's not pretty and if anything you wonder how these two people got together in the first place. Was it an idea that they both had and figured fuck it; Let's do a book together! It would be almost as painful as having sex with Rosie O'Donnell. It's a moment you immediately regret and wish you could take back. The book game has changed a lot over the last few years and anyone with a keyboard can self publish a damn book. Widens the landscape for a whole lot of shit sandwiches.

I'm here to tell you that with Hexad you have nothing to worry about. This is by far one of my favorite horror novels and as I read it I began to see why these two work so well together. There's a nice balance to this book and each story has something for everyone. You like weird and gross there's a story for that, you like stories about a guy that will do anything to protect his family? We got that too. What we have are two guys trying to make a name for themselves and what a fine way to announce your arrival. When you talk about new horror and what types of authors are going to take it to the next level I place them both in my top five.

They have a style all their own and while Hexad may be a short read, it packs one helluva punch. These are a stories that cover a wide spectrum of horror and they both have talent. I kept waiting for one of them to deliver a bad story but that just didn't happen. Each story is well written and shows that these guys will write about anything and nothing is off limits This is a collection of horror stories that cater to the horror fan. Unapologetic and a lot of fun to read. This right here is exactly why I'm a horror fan and once you read this you'll thank me.

Really enjoyed this book the writing was perfect by both authors the stories kept me hooked was very gruesome didn't want some of the stories to end I got that absorbed into the story. Normally not a fan of horror but this book has gave me a insight of the genre so going to try read a few more books but defiantly will read these authors again.

I forgot I had this on my Kindle but once I'd dipped into it, I had to finish.

This is a fantastic collection of nasty little tales from the screwed up minds of Lennon and Hickman. Whilst Lennon is a proven storyteller, this is early days for Matt Hickman but he has taken his outlandish imagination and coupled it with his natural gift of the gab to pen some really amazing, unforgettable stories.

While a couple of the stories were somewhat predictable, they were balanced out with some truly WTF moments. I particularly enjoyed Stag Night for those spectacularly creepy moments which forced me to keep the light on, and Over the Edge; very cleverly done.

To say I'm looking forward to reading more from this pair is an understatement.

Amazing!

This is one of the best anthologies I've read. All stories are extremely diverse and both authors share the ability to keep you immersed from the first page to the last.

I can't wait for any future releases from these awesome storytellers!

Sorry to be the spoilsport reviewer here :( but while some of the stories were horror, others were just horrible. The Storm was GOOD. Freaky, especially in the retelling. Stag Night also was a fun read. But then come the tales of horrible things instead of horror things. Assembly? How is that different from a guy at work snapping one day and taking out half the office? Horrible, not horror. Same for Over The Edge. If you enjoy stories of what drives ordinary people into a killing rage, you may enjoy these two more than I did. And then there's Fast Food, which was just like the real thing: sounds so promising, turns out to be a bunch of empty calories.

On the other hand, this is on Kindle Unlimited so you have nothing to lose but 45 minutes...

I love nothing more than a good short horror, whether it be a story or a movie. These guys didn't disappoint. I love Hickman's writing and Stag Night was my favourite of the 6 (although Fast Food by Lennon was really grim, in a good way) as it kept me thinking with its twist ending. The Storm was excellent too, something I'd love to see come to life in a short film. I'm definitely going to be reading this again when I get my signed copy. Excellent job, guys!!!!

Stag Night by Andrew Lennon and Matt Hickman is a short horror story which was a bonus story at the end of A-Z horror by Iain Rob Wright.

Karl wanted something out of the ordinary for his stag do and invited his friends to join him at a Victorian Nocton Hall hospital which was a condemned building and was known to have ghostly sightings.

One of Karl's friends had spiked their drinks with acid tablets and wondered if they were all tripping when they experienced hallucinations or were the ghosts of Nocton Hall hospital giving them all a once in a life time experience.

Short fiction is one of my loves. It's a challenge to elicit an emotion response in such a short amount of time in a story. The response can range from giggles to nausea, and when I read horror that range is all welcomed.

I'm not sure if it was intentional but I did like that this collection seemed to be laid out so that I was drawn in by the lighter, twistedly amusing tales and then slammed into the darker ending story. The first few stories were fun, warped in a good way, bloody, and a nod to many horror devices that if you read horror you will appreciate.

Stag Night was for me the perfect ending, filled with a darker more built atmosphere. As a paranormal enthusiast I have been on a fair few ghost hunts, some we didn't exactly have permission for and that I think gave me a little bond with the characters adding to the tension.

So what will you find? Six stories that range from fun horror with gotcha moments to darker tales, all of which have blood, and a bend that is sure to have something for everyone – everyone who is a little twisted that is.

Scary stuff

Matt Hickman and Andrew Lennon are two of the most sick, twisted, and depraved human beings out there, and we wouldn't want them any other way. This book is the stuff nightmares are made of. One story is as sick as the next. I think stag party is going to give me nightmares for a while and i don't scare easily. Highly recommend this one !
