The Promises We Keep

Rate this book
The promises they keep reveal who they are and define who they want to be….

Beckham and Addison are the picture perfect couple. High school sweethearts, still lost in love as they prepare to enter their senior year of college, marriage is a dream that weighs heavily on both of their hearts. But while Addie is trying to wait patiently for a ring, Beckham has a different proposal in mind. The decision he makes is laced with good intentions, but his journey to self-discovery may cost him the only woman he can imagine being with forever.

Grayson and Avery are just friends. While everyone tries to convince them that their study dates and late night hang outs are proof positive that their feelings are much deeper than they’ll admit to each other, they’re stubborn in their resolve to hide in the safe zone of friendship. But when Grayson’s best friend and Avery’s twin sister face hard times in their relationship, Grayson begins to question whether or not surrendering to his heart’s bidding—consequences be damned—is what love is all about.

Beckham, Grayson, Addison, and Avery learn that in romance, all they need is love—except for when life is way more complicated than that.

This is a coming of age story about a close group of friends who are learning how to be in love, how to fall out of love and how to get it back.

Addie and Beckham have been dating for about five years. They are about to graduate college and start their lives as adults. Addie believes the next step is naturally marriage. However Beckham is scared of the thought and just not ready yet.

Avery, Addie's twin, is in love with the boy downstairs, Grayson, who also happens to be Beckham's best friend. She doesn't think he feels the same away about her though. But she is wrong, Grayson does like her as well and he is also to scared to tell her how he feels.

This story speaks beautifully about the ups and downs of relationships. Lessons about how if we love something, to let if go, if it comes back it is truly meant to be. The story of these friends had many happy moments and just as many sad moments. They all pulled together to help each other get through the sad moments. I really enjoyed that the author wrote the book from alternating points of view, every chapter was someone was different. We get to see into the heads of all the main characters and see the story line from different sides.

This story took over as I was writing. It didn't come out like I had anticipated; it came out better. The best part was, I didn't know how it was going to end until I got there. I let my characters get me there and I fell in love with them along the way. I made sure to keep their integrity intact and I let them grow naturally, trying my best to stay out of the way as I depicted their journey instead of mine. I hope you enjoy this story as much as I enjoyed writing it. I'm so excited to share it with you!

Addison and Avery are sisters who are two peas in a pod. Beckham and Grayson aren't blood related, but they're closer than most brothers do. Two couples who have gone through a lot in their relationships. One pair are having second thoughts about spending their lives forever, the other pair is a little hesitant to take their friendship to a higher level. Other people come and go in their lives, some have succeeded in putting doubts in their mind, but in the ultimate end, the four of them took it upon themselves to settle their differences, promised to work things out, and face their futures smiling and beaming.

Both pair experienced difficulties in their lives, with their respective families. Both pairs struggled, got hurt and almost gave up. But what I loved about them is that they put God within their midst and took another chance with love and grew up with better heads on their shoulders.

I couldn't count the number of times I wiped my tears and stopped myself from sobbing while reading this book. The Promises We Keep just kept on drawing me in, sucking my breath, stilling my heart and pulling me in, like I belong there, with the characters, with Avery & Grayson, with Addison and Beckham. This book is totally addicting, awe-inspiring and astonishing. R.C. Martin just made me believe in Promises and Forever again.

This story was about a group of friends all told from their own POV. So that was nice to be able to understand each of their sides and feelings. It was about twin sisters Avery and Addison and their journey through college and one of the sisters falling in love and the other sisters love life put on hold.
It had great flow going back in forth through each character. And you really understood each character. While this would be an amazing book for some who are more religious. As there was a lot of talk about God and bible it just wasn’t for me. It’s not that I don’t believe in God. I just wish there would have been a warning in the synopsis saying that it was very religious base.

This is the story of twin sisters Avery and Addison, the men in their lives Grayson and Beckham and their group of friends during their junior and senior years of college. It follows them through new relationships, break-ups, heartbreaks and happiness.
Addison and Beckham have been sweethearts since high school. They are getting ready to graduate from college, so the next logical step is marriage, right? Is Beckham ready for this step? Will his decision to take a break from Addison ultimately strengthen their relationship or will he lose her forever? Will he keep his promise to come back to her? Will Addison keep her promise to wait for him?
Avery has had eyes for Greyson, the quarterback of the football team for a long time, but has been happy to just be friends. Greyson has wanted Avery for a long time, but has never felt he was good enough for her. Will they finally take that step out of the “friend zone” and take a risk on each other?
The Promises We Keep was a definite emotional rollercoaster that I absolutely loved riding. It is told through the points of view of Avery, Addison Beckham and Grayson. I absolutely loved hearing the different points of view, it made every situation a little more real. I was able to connect with the characters from the start, and felt every emotion that they were feeling. I often found myself laughing, crying, and feeling stress, anxiety and happiness right along with them.
I gave The Promises We Keep 5 very emotional stars. This was my first book by RC Martin, but it most definitely will not be my last!

I was given an ARC book for an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.

CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS

To begin this book you expect a normal contemporary romance. I was so wrong that when I found out that this book was so much more than a romance book I deadpanned in my bed reading.

The Promises We Keep is a book told in many (4) point of views. I was very confused to begin with. However once I started reading it you seem to get into the grove of who was talking and there was minimal if any overlapping.

What I did not expect from this book was to effect me so profoundly that I changed my way of thinking and my way of doing my normal routine. Yes RC Martin had that kind of effect on me. I do not want to go into this book because there are so many story lines that are interwoven and they are so intricate that you really need to stay with the book to find out what happens with each character.

I also loved the fact that this book was not a novel like most and only have a little over 200 pages. This book was actually a novel. I stayed up all one night to read it. It is a clean read. It does have a few steamy parts and it does deal with a couple of issues that are not meant to be taken lightly. I, for one. believe that Ms. Martin did a great job with these. Please note that this book may be hard to digest for some people. I for one will be getting it for several of my family and friends.

Thank you RC Martin for changing my life for the better! I look forward to much more from you!

This book is about a group of friends, but focuses on twin sisters and their significant others. The book is different in that it is written from 4 different points of view, but their lives are so interconnected, that's the only way it could have been written. I believe if any other had written this, they would have broken it out into two different books and much of the story would have been lost.

One thing I do want to note, is that there is a lot of religion in this book. I'm not pointing this out as a negative, I just want readers to be advised in case this is a issue for them.

I was very impressed with his debut novel and look forward to reading Daphne and Trevor's story next.

This is a lovely story about the journey of Addison and Avery (twin sisters) Beckham (Addison's boyfriend) Grayson (Beckham's best friend/roommate) and Claire and Jackson (Roommate of Beckham and Grayson) We also meet Sarah, Roman (Love him!) Daphne, Trevor and Logan along the way.
This was a really refreshing, uplifting, emotional, faithful, romantic and at times angsty story fulll of love and friendship.

Addie and Beckham are "that" couple. Fated. Meant to be. Solid. Until they're not. Beck decides to step out on faith and make a very tough decision that puts his and Addie's hearts in despair and their relationship on the line. Will he find the answers he seeks? If he does will it be too late? Will Addie still be there or will her path lead her to someone else?

Grayson, star quarterback who I have to admit is my favorite (sigh and swoon) he's had a rough and disturbing upbringing and he wasn't loved the way he should have been. Those past scars still haunt him and sometimes show through his actions. He doesn't believe he's good enough for Avery but she wants to be the judge of that. They fight hard and they love harder. I thoroughly enjoyed these two falling in love but is love always enough? Will Gray let his past dictate his future and can Avery deal with those consequences.

Jackson and Claire.....I love them!! They're such a strong and beautiful couple, that are Incandescently in love. They're starting an amazing new chapter in their relationship and it's so exciting!

As our close knit group of friends go through their journey they meet some new friends along the way. Friends that help them mature, grow and question certain things.

I really enjoyed the dynamics in these friendships but there was one in particular that I didn't care for. Logan. There, I said it. Lol.

At times the multiple POVs had me a little whiplashed but it didn't take away from the story.

The Promises We Keep was a poignant, heartfelt, and creative tale with an important message. I think my favorite relationship was between the twins, who call each other, "their other halves" they had each other's backs no matter what and share such a special connection.

I truly enjoyed R.C's writing and writing style. I'm also so excited that I can recommend and openly talk about a book with my grandmother.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This has in no way influenced my opinion or review.*

The Promises We Keep is a beautiful story of 2 couples and their very different, yet extraordinary journey to their happily ever after. The characters are well developed and the different POV allows you to know and understand them in depth. It is a realistic tale of the difficulties of loving someone and that ALL relationships are a lot of hard work and sacrifice. The variety of characters and simultaneous storylines took a little getting used to, but once you "know" the characters the story flows easily. Their is a strong theme of faith, spirituality and God, which is rare these days, but I enjoyed it. It is something readers who do not enjoy or find offensive should be aware of before reading. All in all, I felt it was an excellent debut by R C Martin and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.

What a great book! I loved how the story was told from 4 different points of view. Addie and Beckham had the perfect relationship, or did they? He had to take time to know for certain if he was ready to make a commitment to Addie. He was also busy trying to get into med school. Addie was ready, or was she? Avery, who was Addie's twin sister, was best friends with Grayson, the star quarterback of their school's team. Everyone else knew Avery and Grayson were made for each other, so why couldn't the couple themselves, realize it? This book tells the story about two couples who are perfect for each other, but haven't quite realized it themselves, and how their friends, and their faith in God, helped them see what they knew all along.

The Promises We Keep. Brilliant and down right heart breaking. Addison and Avery. I swear I felt every ounce of love and pain they endured. Like them I believe in a higher power, known as God. Which makes me believe that everything happens for a reason. But it still didn't stop me from being vaguely annoyed when Addisons heart was broken. I felt it all which makes this a beautiful book. One which should be shared. Love was put to the test and of course it succeeded, as always. For He knows the way, the truth and the light.

As a person who Loves and Believes in God, I really loved this book. It is right up there with a Dee Henderson Novel. I loved that it was written in the POV of all the main characters involved. It is an emotional journey of 4 people learning to trust and find their way. It was very well written and the stories were told in a way that kept you wanting to read more. I love all genre including christian romance. Well done RC :)

This book for me took lots of focusing to stay with it. It was kind of all over the place for me. It was a good read and I think for a young adult it would be great. It's a great story about young love, falling in and out of love. There's ups and down and it made me happy and frustrated. Also enjoyed that religion played a part. It was a great way to show young adults you can have love, romance, college and God all at the same time!

5 Spiritual Stars for The Promises We Keep

I have been a fan of RC Martin's since I found out about her novella Encore Worthy, her first foray into rockstar romane, which my readers will know is where my passion lies. I had read one or two of her Made for Love series, but decided it was well past time I start at the beginning and work through them all. Ever feel like things happen for a reason? Years ago, I would have scoffed at the idea, until I really started reflecting on my relationship with the man who has been my husband for the last 6.5 years. After meeting him on my 21st birthday and reconnecting after a series of dreams, fate became harder to resist, but I digress. The point is that I have known about this book for over a year, but just now got around to reading it, and I am pretty positive that fate had a hand in that.

Though this book is about college students, and age group that I am further removed from than I would care to admit, but it brings with it messages that are much more timeless. I guess I may be in the midst of a mid-life crisis (no matter how I try to tell myself that I am much too young for such a term to apply - the years truly do go faster and faster as life goes on.) I have known for some time that something is missing, and I have even admitted that part of that is the way I have unwittingly wound up further from my spiritual center than I have ever been, even though things in my past would have realistically taken me there at least 2 other times in my younger years. Somehow when I finally found some inner peace and belief in myself, even though I was facing physical hardships, I drifted without even really realizing it. This book is what I would consider a contemporary Christian romance. While faith has a place in all of RC's books that I have read, it is a central part of this book. Those aspects truly screamed at me at this moment in my life.

I haven't read any other reviews of this book, intentionally, though that is out of the norm for Mr as I sit to write my review. I am guessing any negative reviews say that it is hard to follow. I really didn't not struggle with that, but because it serves to introduce many characters who will show up in later books in the series, and because the book mainly focuses on the relationships of twin sisters, I can understand. Personally, I quickly followed her transitions, and came to appreciate it as a whole. The only part I struggled with, at least early on, is the tendency of one twin to give everyone nicknames. That becomes easier as the story goes on, but if you are reading it as a light, quick read. I don't feel this book is one that should be read in that manner, but I realize that each reader sees things differently, and I can admit that there are reasons that the romance genre is often looked down upon, as if it is not a true form of literature. I will save that debate for another time, but I have to say that there is so much more than romantic fluff going on with this one.

Spirituality, Christianity, letting God into your life - letting Him guide, are wildly important themes throughout this book, and it delves deeply into how that relationship drives our 4 main characters, and at least one secondary. Each has a different history, vastly different in the case of the male characters, but all are driven by their spiritual beliefs and relationships with God. The girls, being twins, are a bit more similar, but since they are in very different places in their romantic relationships, their differences are highlighted in that way.

Being a generation beyond college age, I can't say with any certainty how common their beliefs and attitudes are in this day and age, but I found them to be very refreshing. I was raised with the attitude that religion is not to be a topic of conversation among friends, and not considering my church friends to truly be my close friends except for a few years in my 30's, it is foreign territory to me.again, very refreshing, but thoroughly foreign at the same time.

Beckham and Addison have been together for 5 years, and are deeply in love, but he finds himself in an extremely anxious state over the idea of marriage. After a talk with his father, he decides the only way to overcome his trepidation is to take a temporary break from Addie. This is a deeply spiritual journey for him, and though it breaks Audie's heart, as she does not understand (and honestly, he doesn't fully understand either) it becomes a spiritual journey for her as well. Both try to sort their feelings in journals, and it all just clicked for me even though I had trouble understanding Beck's mindset as well. It did prompt me to purchase and start a journal myself, for the first time in 20 years or so, but, in only two days, I am understanding completely the concept there. Avery and Grayson have a completely opposite relationship. Though both are crazy about each other, neither believes that the other is into them. To be continued....

** Thanks to R.C. Martin and Love Between the Sheets for the ARC **

I loved this book from the second I realized that the story was being narrated by 4 different characters. I so love POV's. Although that little fact I just said is not like each one is telling the same scene from their point of view; they do their telling from their side of the story and next POV gets to tell the next part of the tale. Loved that!

Personal fact here: I'm a catholic because I was baptized when I was little. But I don't do church. I do believe in a big great powerful source but I don't feel comfortable in any religion I know. So...that being said...
I was a little shocked when I realized Addie and Avery (twins), Beckham and Grayson (friends) were so into God (like going every week to church, really living considering religion as part of their lives). For a minute few pages I wasn't sure I wanted to keep reading it. But the story was so good, I just couldn't just leave it unfinished even when is so based in religion (which is not a bad thing, just not my thing like I said).

Now, this book is about a group of young friends that live in the same building and two of them have been a couple for five years. Avery's so ready to get married to him and Beckham's so not ready at all to be a husband. And it's not fear of commitment, is just not his time to make the commitment. So he comes with this good but hard complex idea that leaves both of them confused, brokenhearted and with hopes to make right what's wrong and have the healthy relationship they deserve.

It's a very emotional book. You fall easy into the story and the writing is so nice, you can feel what the characters are feeling. I cried sooooo bad in chapter 5...I cried in chapter 6 to and the some pages after. By the end of the book I did spare some tears too.

We get to see Beckham's road to figuring out what's not so right with him. We get to see Addie with a broken heart but also with love and hope for the future. Beck also has a hard time. Well, their friends have a hard time.
We also get to see the birth and growth of another sick sweet couple with their own issues to fix.

Three more characters jump in the middle of the story. Daphne I love, but I didn't like Roman nor Logan from the paragraph they first appeared. They were somehow necessary for the story but that doesn't make me like them.

By chapter 31 -it's a long book, 486 pages in paperback, but very enjoyable - I was dying to know what was going to happen with Beck and Addie.

I loved how every piece of the puzzle came into place in the end. At some point, I wasn't sure anymore what I wanted for Beck and Addie. For a few pages I wanted them to go their separate ways. Then I would change my mind and wish they stayed together. And then again I wanted them apart. I kept going like that for some chapters actually.

But the ending of the story was perfect. There's no other way to say it.

Oh! and we have the 4 narrators till the very end. There are 4 epilogues =) it's just one actually but each character has their say.

This is one of those books I'd buy, recommend, re read more than once and give as a gift.

I don't even know where to begin...I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!! The Promises We Keep spoke to me on so many levels. I was able to connect with each of the characters and the challenges they faced in many ways.

I love RC's writing style. The story flowed very well and it didn't seem rushed or predictable. I love that she stayed true to her characters and their faith. I love that her characters' faith continued throughout the story and that they didn't stray from the promises that they made not only to themselves but to God. I'm glad that she wrote in each of the four main characters' POV which gave me the opportunity to really get to know them on a deeper level.

Grayson (oh, how I love me some Gray) is the star quarterback at Colorado St. Grayson is broken. He moved to Colorado to attend college, get away from his past life and start fresh. Grayson is lost. He thinks so poorly of who he is yet he has so much going for himself. It took the love of another for him to really understand his worth. He's far from perfect, he's perfectly imperfect.

Beckham (oh, Beck) is the resident nerd, who is in school for pre-Med. He had me so frustrated the ENTIRE book up until the end. I understood his confusion and I understood the decisions he made but that doesn't mean I was happy about them. The internal challenges that he faced and the way that he responded to them are commendable. I loved that he stayed true to his faith and the plans set before him, no matter what he could have potentially lost as an outcome.

And then there's the twins, Addison and Avery. I think they're both adorable in their twin ways. I love how close they are and how they encourage and support one another! When Addie's Happily Ever After falls apart, she has to really take a step out on her faith and trust that she will end up where she believes she needs to be. Avery is very shy and it's super cute. I love how she builds more confidence in herself and becomes more outgoing as her story progresses. Through all of the obstacles that she faces, she continues to fight for what she wants while staying true to herself by deciding to wait until marriage to have sex. Avery knows her worth therefore she's not willing to be with just anyone, she wants to be with THE one, which is a trait that I admire.

All that being said, this is a book that I definitely plan on reading again and I highly recommend it.

I'm very new to this author but can already tell that I'll be a loyal fan of hers forever. Her style of writing was amazing. She used just the perfect amount of drama, sweetness, hilarious banter between all of the friends and their boyfriends, acceptance, and unconditional love. And I loved how her characters were so real and have some baggage and flaws like normal people. This makes it so easy to relate to. This book is about a very close group of friends who each have their own unique and interesting story. There is Grayson the sexy, sweet, quarterback who loves his girlfriend Avery more than life itself. He unfortunately has no support or love from his mother at all throughout this whole book yet he somehow stays positive. Avery is an innocent, kind, very genuine woman who is a twin to her sister Addison. I loved Addison the most for a few reasons. She is funny, sarcastic, sweet and thoughtful just wanting the best for everyone in her life. But she is dealt a bad card and has to go through some interesting adventures that drain her of most of the hope and energy she usually has until she learns to use this bad situation to her advantage learning and growing from it. And Beckam is an interesting character that at times you will most likely hate or at least dislike a lot. But he is a great guy who truly loves his girlfriend Addison and feels she deserves much better than him. So he makes her a promise. I found myself quickly in her corner rooting her on as she is such a fun and real character. I knew I loved this book after only reading two chapters which is an excellent sign of a great book. The way each chapter focused on different characters' points of view was quite interesting, neat and fun to read. I truly wish more authors would do this. The amount of work and details she put into each character's personality goes to show that RC Martin is the real deal in the author world. I was sad when I read those oh so dreadful words The End as I know I will miss these unique and fun characters. But great news her next book is coming out in August yay. If you love a sweet and genuine love story with great humor and characters then this is definitely the book for you. If you believe in second chances, true love, keeping promises and perseverance then Please read this.

I discovered RC Martin about three months ago when I was given the opportunity to review So Much More (Made for Love #3). I was thrilled when I was invited to participate in a review group that included her work. I am a new fan of her writing and I could not wait to dive into The Promises We Keep.

The Promises We Keep focuses on two couples Addison Grant & Beckham Willis and Addison’s twin sister Avery Grant & Grayson O’Connor. We find them the summer before they begin their senior year of college.

Addison and Beckham are vested in a solid five-year relationship and are preparing to finish their college years in hopes that Addison will begin teaching after college and Beckham will begin medical school. Beckham will be focusing on applications and his first year as a med student when he realizes that Addie is wanting to begin their first year after college as husband and wife. Beckham knows his future is Addie but marriage is not what he’s ready for at the moment.

Avery and Grayson have both liked one another since the moment they first laid eyes on each other. They have become good friends through their college years but have never acted on their attraction. Both feel that the other is not interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with the other.

The Promises We Keep is a story about friendships, true love, tests and temptations, and life changing decisions. The depth that Ms. Martin reaches in the heart and soul of her characters had me completely mesmerized. I enjoyed the close circle of friends that this group shared and the fact that they had such a strong relationship with God including attending weekly church together. This is a Christian based story that keeps God in the center of all of their relationships. I loved that feeling and emotions of The Promises We Keep. This story gives me hope that there are more young adults that have this type of relationship with God and surround themselves with loving, supportive friends just as this group has done.

I strongly encourage you to begin this series and feel good about the hope that The Promises We Keep gives us.

Thank you RC Martin for reminding us how important it is to keep God in our center especially when we are impatient and stubborn.

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

At first I was held back a bit, so many characters introduced at once my head was swimming. Ha! By Chapter 2 I was settled in, and I couldn’t stop reading. Within Chapter 2 you are back to getting to know the couples, characters and their personalities. By 20% in The Promises We Keep I was sobbing. I was having to quietly sob, without doing the sucking in sobbing cry due to hubby sleeping beside me.

On an emotional level, I would say this book is like Never Let You Go by Katy Regnery, not from the story aspect but as the emotions I felt for this story was the same.

I felt for Beck. Commitment is such a hard thing to understand, and it should never be something that you think needs to be done. I totally got Beck, I really did. He holds my heart, and I will hold his.

Grayson, he has such a sweet heart, he is full of genuine emotions, and his character is for anyone to swoon for. He is soft spoken, says things that needs to be said. I believe I could read about him some more for sure.

The twins, Addie & Avery, they balanced each other. They have the twin thing. They know what to say and do around one another, and I loved that they had similarities but yet completely different personalities.

With all that said, I do love how the book has a touch of religion. I don’t really like the word “religion” but the book does have God elements, and mentions prayers, and guidance. I loved the softness it brings, and the message held within the story. I think RC did an amazing job on this book, and I would recommend it.

This debut novel from RC Martin was captivating and very well written! I enjoyed the style of the story telling, as it was told through the thoughts of each the four main characters. I also loved the secondary characters who we will learn more about in her second release Reckless Surrender (Made for Love #2).

This is a story about faith, trust and love. It is also about genuine and real relationships. I loved the strong bond of the twins Avery and Addie. The boys! Oh those boys! Grayson and Beckham although are not truly brothers by blood, they are brothers in their hearts. I really, really loved the dialogue between them. I found myself laughing constantly. Along with their friends Sarah, Jackson and Claire, they are a true family. They are there for one another, unconditionally, without question.

Emotional? Yes! Yes! Yes! Sometimes I felt like I was on a roller coaster! There were definitely some moments my heart broke. There were also several times I wanted to scream at the characters, mainly the boys. Communication, or lack thereof, was an obstacle within the relationships of these characters. That is also where faith and trust came into play. I was constantly cheering for these young people throughout their journeys. I wanted them to all to have their happily ever after. I loved them so much!

The Promises We Keep is a truly enjoyable and heartfelt story. It is beautifully written and stunningly uplifting. I really appreciated the amazing journey that Miss Martin took me on with Addie, Beckham, Avery and Grayson. Thank you for a wonderful read!

When love hits a curve ball…
I really enjoyed this two-for-one romance where not one couple but two are trying to find their way to love. Pulled together by family and friendship, their stories could not be more different though they are intertwined.
Beckham and Addison have been together since high school and their path seems very clear. They are entering their last year in college and have their sights clearly on the future. When a sudden decision puts all those plans in jeopardy, hearts may never be the same…
Grayson and Avery find their way together in a much different way. They have been friends for years but only now realize they need to be bold to get what they both want…
Two couples who are struggling with the same thing – love. While love is happiness it is also a lot of work. Communication and effort go a long way as these two sets of lovebirds quickly find out. They are all young and while family provides the greatest example of what relationships can, and should, be they each have to forge their own path. And this means stumbles and mistakes along the way.
Emotional, spiritual and gentle, at the heart of their stories is true caring and love. And really that’s what life should all be about! I look forward to more about this circle of friends and family.

After reading Encore Worthy written by this author, I couldn’t wait to read more from this author. Where better to start than the first book?
The Promises We Keep is a long book and for me, it took a lot of concentration to stay with it. I think it was mostly because I was trying to follow so many characters, with the story being told in multiple POVs. I normally love a dual POV read and I especially enjoy the male’s side of the story, but I think over all this was just a little too much for me and something I might avoid reading in the future, or maybe not, because even with what I have said, that takes nothing away from this author’s ability to write a great book. She has a way with words and no matter if the story itself might not be what you would normally read, you just can’t help being pulled in and want to read more.
This book is clearly New Adult. It is a coming of age story that lets us into the lives of four characters, Beckham and Addison and Grayson and Avery. The book is very emotional and spiritual. It is very well written and once you start reading, you won’t want to stop until you reach the end.
I am moving on to book 2 in the Made for Love series because I want more from this author.
Keeping in mind that this book is somewhat religious and Inspirational, I recommend it.

If you like a nice, clean PG romance with an emphasis on one's relationship with God, then this story is for you. There are two couples trying to find their way to their HEA. Addie & Beckham have been in relationship for five years. She's ready for him to pop the question but he has cold feet. Then he has an idea that brings a lot of drama to the pages, as well as a lot of tears. Avery & Grayson are two friends who have hidden their attraction to each other for some time but soon open their hearts and become a couple. Their journey is filled with the challenges of his demons and his insecure feelings of unworthiness. These four souls seek to put God in their relationships and struggle to find their way. Each of these characters have their own POV so the reader can see the inner turmoil and dialogues and observe how they mature and how they make decisions in accordance to His Will. The result is an inspiring and entertaining read.

This book was so good!! I loved the different POVs. Sometimes I feel like I miss parts of a character because I don't get to hear their thoughts. That was not a problem with this book. I also really respected Addison and Avery's decisions on how far they went with Grayson and Beckham. I don't see many books right now where the characters chose to wait, and it was don't in a way where is was not judgmental. It felt right that they waited. The struggles really got to me. They felt real. Grayson's insecurity and his love for Avery were both huge, and I was so happy with the ending for them. I was happy for Addie and Beckham as well. I felt Addie's frustration and hurt over Beckham not being on her timeline. I was biting my nails the whole time, hoping for a happy ending. All of the characters were well developed, and R.C. Martin did an amazing job of drawing me in and getting me emotionally invested in the story. It got a little frustrating at time with how invested I got :). This book is different form a lot of New Adult right now, and I loved it.

This book will tear your heart to shreds then slowly put it back together.

It's a story about 4 people (twin sisters and 2 male best friends) and how their live really stood the trials of life.

Addison and Beckham have been together forever but Beck wants to take a break to find himself before he can commit to marrying the girl of his dreams.

Grayson and Avery are friends who are crushing on each other but refuse to act on their feelings. Avery doesn't know that Greyson is into her until he kisses her and then he can't seem to let her go.

While I loved this book although I think that having 4 main characters and therefore 4 different points of view was a little overwhelming.

I feel that it could have easily been split into two books, one for each couple. But regardless of that it was a wonderful story about love, hope and faith.

This ARC was great fully received in return for an honest review.

The promises we keep is the first book in the Made for love series by R.C. Martin.

Addison and Avery are twins and each other's half. They have important men in their life - Beckham and Grayson.

Addison and Beckham's relationship appear as to be perfect until a life changing decision changes the course of their relationship and their future.

Avery and Grayson are "best friends"?who are scared of committing to each other that is until the decision their family makes changes everything.

The story show the importance of friendship and the need for old friends as well as new and how one decision can make things better despite all the heartache that has to be endured in the mean time.

This book was well written. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

This was a looong book, but I enjoyed every moment. It had all kinds of "feels" - making me smile, laugh, yell, become frustrated but it left me happy in the end. It had the best secondary characters I have ever read, they absolutely made the story (I can't wait to get into their stories now). I really like how two love stories were being told concurrently.

What really set this book apart from most books I have read lately was the way faith in God & Church were woven through and the strong beliefs of our main characters; Addison, Avery & Beckham. I like that they did not waiver and stayed true. A clean story is not a bad story & this book proves it.

I am definitely going to recommend this book especially to those who think I only read "smut"....

I fell in love with this book and I fell in love with R.C. writing. I loved the way she was able to flow from the 4 different characters in the book evenly. i loved the characters i loved how they maintained their virginity and brought God into the book. i loved how Beckham took time out of his relationship to think and turned to his pastor and God for guidance. I love how Grayson became a christian and changed for himself and then for Avery and continued to grow. When you read this book you will fall in love with each and every character. I won this book in a giveaway and I am so glad I read it. **Received an ARC copy for an Honest review****

New to this author, I found The Promises We Keep to be an inspiring read. The Christian theme was surprising and refreshing. The Multiple POVs from the main characters kept you involved in each individual story from everyone's point of view.
The twins, Addison and Avery are cute and lovable but don't underestimate either of them when it comes to the ones they love. Dynamite comes in small packages!
Beckham and Grayson are the sexy neighbors. 2-3 different love stories intertwined for great romantic reading.
There are some great supporting characters that each have a story to tell as well. Hopeful to hear more from them soon!

Refreshing read!
