After her grandfather gifts her a relaxing weekend at his luxury cabin, Lacey packs her best friend Meg into the Lumina and together they take off, dreaming of a girls’ weekend filled with bonfires, boat rides, and work-free days.
However, when three unexpected visitors show up on the doorstep of the Luzzi cabin, her plans of peace and quiet are foiled. It only gets worse after Lacey finds a dead body in her trunk – with no explanation as to how, or why, he’d landed face down in her leftover Taco Bell!
Suddenly, Lacey’s trip is no longer a weekend getaway, but a top secret assignment full of kidnappings, karaoke bars, and a suspiciously meddlesome grandmother. She recruits the help of new boyfriend Anthony, as well as computer-whiz cousin Clay, and together they must find the murderer, or else they will be planning a very different kind of getaway.
** ** Lacey Luzzi: S'mored, is a full-length, humorous cozy mystery with a strong female protagonist in the spirit of Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum, albeit one working for the wrong side of the law…
Note: This book can be read as a standalone, though it is part of a larger series. It is rated a strong PG-13 for sarcasm and mild language. No graphic gore or sex.

Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, Gina LaManna has also called Italy and Los Angeles home. After studying numbers and equations in college, she realized multiple choice tests were “just not for her” and began writing books instead. She loves cappuccino foam and whipped cream and would subsist solely on sprinkles if possible. She currently lives in St. Paul with her wonderful husband and family.
It's girls only weekend for Lacey & Meg. After the kidnapping/birthday/4th of July debacle Lacey needs rest. Heading to one of Carlos's get a way cabins they are in the lap of luxury with one request from Carlos: find out who's smuggling diamonds. Arriving in the small town where the cabin is they meet the colorful local folks who actually have information on Lacey's mom when she was a child. Sun and fun for her & Meg is interrupted by three men who appear at the cabin by Lacey's matchmaking grandmother. Not interested because she & Anthony are only a week into their boyfriend/girlfriend relationship makes for some sticky situations. Nothing improves as Lacey discovers a dead body in the trunk of her car. Great excuse to call Anthony! No rhyme or reason on who he is, why he is dead, & why on Luzzi property. Clay with his magical computer skills, Anthony with his connections, and locals with an interest try to figure it out. Undercover karaoke where Meg is in her element, an accidental kidnapping, & a real kidnapping have Anthony on his toes trying to save his girlfriend & Meg. An fun adventure that makes you wonder if there is something between Meg and Clay. Lacey learns more about Anthony's past and what is takes to be a couple
I am loving these books more and more, even the acknowledgements are funny and wonderful to read.
I think this has been my favourite so far and I know that has a lot to do with Anthony and Lacey's relationship moving to the next level - even if they haven't s'mored yet. I love them together.
Meg is always a treat! If I had an ounce of her confidence, the things I could do. She is extraordinary. I also enjoyed reading about Lacey and her grandparents shoot the breeze together.
In this publication, Lacey and Meg are off on a girls weekend away, but of course it is not as easy as it seems to relax and unwind. With unexpected guests arriving, things change drastically. Anthony comes to help Lacey work out the mystery, and Clay and Meg open up to their inner Karaoke demons.
I have a theory of who Lacey's father is, but lets just wait until the next book to see if I am right.
Lacey and her best friend Meg are given an opportunity to have a weekend's holiday at the Luzzi cottage since her birthday ended up being rather hectic. Her grandfather just asks her to do one simple favour, but when three suitors sent by her grandmother arrive at the cottage and a dead body shows up in the trunk of her car, it isn't long before there is a lot of mayhem, action and humour. This is not a book series to be taken seriously. While there is always a food or sugar theme to the title, Lacey doesn't cook and there are no recipes in these books.
Ok guys this is a review for the entire series 😅. 🎧 I did the audios (which was such a mess and highly disappointing) so I’m gonna break down this whole series without any major plot spoilers but this will have relationship spoilers and the series character progression spoilers. I wanted a good long audio series. It was my main reason for picking this up!
Overall this was.. Romcom Suspend disbelief Silly antics Mafia family- but also not really done well Over the top antics Light and mostly fun listening Cozy mystery Crazy reacurring side characters
‼️Book 1-3…. 🎧audio was good w a narrator who did voices and personalities.
The first 3 books was hard for the romance. I didn’t like that she was dating OP and that Anthony was wishy washy. I also would have liked confirmation that he wasn’t dating and hooking up w OW.
I didn’t enjoy the weird way the author tried to write a love and romance. She dragged it out way too much and not in a fun way.
😡Why is she still hooking up w her looser ex! And why is the H waiting so long and sending mixed signals for 4books??!!!
😡Also making the h pathetic isn’t attractive. She was legit in the next room while her ex he was hooking up w OW and she has seen him w a revolving door in his bed. Why is she still hooking up w him in book 3 when Anthony has told her multiple times he wants her and they have had more then one make out sess? It makes her come off as so gross and cheap w no self respect. Way to much push and pull with Anthony the H. Makes him seem like a douche.
‼️ Book 4- 🎧Audio is the same and still good! By the end we are finally getting somewhere with the romance! And FINALLY Lacy seems to be growing a bit.
‼️Book 5- 🎧HORRID! We went to VIRTUAL VOICE🫨 after having a great narrator w personality. Also the story is FINALLY getting better and better and the romance was stating to get super sweet. So I was bummed about the audio big time!
‼️Book 6- NO AUDIO AVAILABLE!!! WTF I did Alexa reading to me. What a freaking mess! Also since the romance and story anew literally getting better w each book this is ruining my experience.
‼️Book 7-10- 🎧ALL VIRTUAL VOICE! 🫨 I guess it was better than Alexa reading it to me but WTF I mean this author really needs to get consistent with her audios. The story was great though these were my fav of the series. We had character growth. Super sweet romance that I loved. And we got some fun storylines and mysteries. TO ME THESE BOOKS WERE THE BEST IN THE SERIES AND WHERE RHE SERIES PEAKED. Such a shame about the audios! 😭😭😭
‼️Books 11- 12- 🎧BACK TO NARRATION! So great audios But man the characters and the storylines took a plummet for me. Lacy was annoying me and so was Meg. Anthony turned into her useless husband. I mean he was head security for the mafia and couldn’t keep her safe! And Lacy was pregnant and putting herself in danger. I was annoyed. It’s not cute when you have real adult stuff happening to be acting like an immature child.
‼️Book 13- 🎧Back to ZERO AUDIO! Fucking hell!!!!!! I mean really!? And I’m over it and ready for this series to end.
‼️Overall my experience of this series was def positive and I did enjoy the majority of the mysteries and stories. I love the romance after book 4. But to much stuff dragged to long w the characters and their growth and development. The audios were a freaking mess! And had I known I wouldn’t have spent money buying the first 4! By the time the series ended I felt sad to see it go but also ready. I did enjoy watching to romance bloom and grow and then get married and have kids but like I said other factors also made my experience less enjoyable to.
Overall safe. Book 1-4 not really cause she is hooking up w her ex douche bag BF No clue is Anthony is hooking up w OW. After book 3 No OP at all.
🍭🎂ALSO SIDE NOTE BUT NO GROWN WOMAN CAN EAT ALL THAT SUGAR! IT WAS OK AT FIRST BUT ANGUGE TURN OFF WHEN SHE BECAME PREGNANT! Not cute just gross.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Lacey’s best friend since childhood, Meg: “Although Meg and I didn’t agree on everything in life, it was mutually understood that when given the option between eating and talking – eating always came first.”
Anthony talking about Meg: “She left the room, leaving Anthony standing with an uncomfortable expression on his face. ‘Since when does she have a problem with guns?’ I shrugged. ‘She’s just upset that our weekend is overshadowed by a murder.’”
This one is about Marco aka Mini-Mario Lopez. Marco was sent to Lacey to woo her by her grandmother: “Glancing up, I gave Mini-Mario a smile. He appeared more groomed than a male runway model, and just as slippery-looking. His skin was so oily, I was certain that if I brushed up against him I’d have enough grease to line a skillet. Some people considered their bodies as temples, but I was pretty sure Marco considered his a slip-and-slide.”
Lacy thinks about her mother: “It’d never dawned on me how lonely my own mother must have been, running away pregnant and without a job. Why had she run? The question had always niggled in the back of my brain, but I’d been thinking about it less and less since discovering Carlos and Nora. They didn’t want to talk about it, and I wanted to keep a healthy relationship with the only family I had left.”
I am sure at least one of the next books will speak more about Lacey’s mother and maybe eventually she will also find out who her father is/was.
There was a lot of romance between not only Lacey and Anthony, but also between Meg and… well, more than one man. And Anthony shows his jealousy, but so does Lacey. However, at the end of it all, everything turned out wonderful. Only one thing lingers and that is The Fish. Will he abduct Lacey for the third time?! Most likely…
Loved it! I think I may have said this with my review from the last book, but each book gets better and better. It's filled with hilarious and sometimes overly outrageous antics and shenanigans, with just enough soft and mushy bits to balance things out. :) It's been compared to Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series (which I love,) and the earlier books reflected that more, but as you get into the series, it's starting to spread it's wings and become its own! =) I'm enjoying watching Lacey and Anthony's relationship blossom. And finding out that the man is not perfect. :D As always, I look forward to the next installment, which luckily enough isn't too far away. Thanks Gina! ;)
When her grandfather gifts her with a getaway at his luxury cabin, Lacey Luzzi thinks she's going to have a relaxing weekend with her friend, Meg. Um, not possible when you're part of the Luzzi family of St. Paul! Lacey also needs to check out a little country bar--Gabe's-- in Wisconsin. A diamond ring is suspected of running goods through Tonka, and gossip happens in Gabe's. But to further complicate things, Nora sends three men to also stay at the cabin, Marco, Alfie, and Dan. And then Lacey discovers a dead man in her trunk! At least now she gets to spend a little time with hottie Anthony! This is another fun installment of Gina LaManna's cozy mystery series.
The laughs keep coming in this 5th book in the Lacey Luzzi series. Lacey and Meg are off on a girl’s weekend away at her grandfathers cabin by the lake, but between her grandmothers matchmaking and a dead body in the trunk of her car, things aren’t quite going to plan! Misadventures are a plenty and hilarity ensues... and oh my Meg doing kareoke - need I say more!!!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I have not been able to put these books down since I started reading the series! They are just the right mix of quirky characters, mystery, and romance. Add to that there are several moments that had me laughing out loud and you get a great read that is hard to put down.
The past had a way of affecting the present. Maggie would love to know more about her mother. Sadly everything about her mother is in the past. When Carlos sends Lacey and Meg off on a lake side vacation he adds a job to the trip. Lacey learns diamonds are not a girls best friend.
I've really enjoyed all the books in this series. They're funny, and sassy, without all the unnecessary vulgarity that some authors rely on. Can't wait to read the next one.
The Lacey Luzzi books are great. Once again, Lacey finds herself in the middle of a crisis, without any help from herself. She is just trying to have a relaxing vacation with a friend and then poof!! Enjoy. I did!
Lacey and friends are exactly the kind of people watching years your back. It may not be conventional but you won't care. Wacky people, crazy lives and bizarre situations, oh my!!
Another great book. A “relaxing” girls vacation with a dead body, and three male visitors. Anthony shows up to protect Lacey, crazy things keep happening including a double kidnapping. Lacey sure does keep us on our toes :)
It seems to get worse as the series continue. The main character has potential but the outlook is not looking too good for the remainder of the series.
Anthony and Lacey are official!!!! I soooo happy! And she is still getting herself into all the wrong things yet again. At least she has Anthony and her BF Meg to have her back through it all!
Another great addition to the series! Like all her novels Gina LaManna has me hooked and I have to keep reading! Her books are like chips can't have just one ;)
