I was really excited to dive into this book because the author Shelby wrote Wanted as a teenager and I really wanted to see how she did at such a young age. Wanted was a really quick and fast paced read. Although there were some problems with this story I did really enjoy it.

Problems I had with this story: There were two cases of insta love which was quite cringey and made me roll my eyes at how quick those relationships formed. But Insta love is a very typical trope in young adult so I can’t really fault it for that. One of these relationships that formed was between a 15 year old and a 19 year old which didn’t sit very well with me because one of the people in the relationship was still a child.

Another problem I had with this story was that at the start of this story August had no idea what her parents were involved in, she was very innocent and although she knew how to shoot a gun she wasn’t trained in combat but suddenly when she gets in some pretty tough situations she became this badass fighter who could beat up fully grown men. This didn’t really make a lot of sense to me and didn’t show much character growth, it just became very convenient.

What I enjoyed with this story: I really enjoyed the characters and I liked how fast paced and quick Wanted was. This was a really fun, action packed, thrashy (in a good way) young adult story that you should check out if you ever get into a reading slump.

A fifteen-year-old girl, August Havens barely escaped a car accident with her life but lost both her parents in the same accident. The last thing her father said to her was run August run and run she did.

As her father lay dying he told her that the accident was not an accident that there were some people who wanted her and that he had left her a package that would tell her what she needed to know. He also told August that she was not supposed to exist.

That accident sent August on the run for her life just trying to survive long enough to find out all the secrets that her parents had kept from her. August was hoping that whatever that package her father left her would finally reveal all the answers she needed to help her stay alive and maybe her parents secrets would reveal who she was and why she wasn’t supposed to exist.

What is in the package her father left her? What secrets lay in wake for August? Who is she? What is she? Why is the CIA and others hunting her? What do they want with August? Will she survive long enough to obtain the package?

When I read the summary for Wanted I knew right away that I had to read it as it left me with so many questions. It never disappointed me from the first page as it started out with action, mystery, secrets, danger, and suspense that never let up.

August took me on a very intense and fear filled journey as each scene played out and I just knew this was going to be the end of August but she is a very smart and resourceful girl who remembered some of the things her father had taught her.

Wanted was a great story with a great plot that pulled me in from the very beginning and once it did I was hooked. I love the writing style, Shelby writes in such a way to where I feel as if I can get inside the character’s head and know what they are feeling or thinking I feel a connection with the characters because of the way she writes. I can’t wait to check out more of Shelby’s work.

I would like to recommend Wanted to anyone who loves a good spy, mystery story with lots of action to keep the adrenaline pumping.

Wanted by Shelby Haisley was sent to me through @BookTasters. It is a edge of seat thriller from the 1st page
August has lost her parents in a car accident but cannot remember most of it just that her father had asked her to run and that is what she does . She has to run to find those who murdered her parents
and protect herself from CIA , gangsters all who want something from her. She also has to find out her parents' secrets that the CIA director so desperately wants.
Her only hope is a rogue agent Steele and his protege
A fast thriller with all the elements of a blockbuster. A well written story where events keep happening every page and keeps the reader glued . A page turner from the word go A page turner from the word go makes eagerly and Anxiously wait for the sequel

A must read

This fast-paced, action-packed novel was extremely engaging. I read it in two sittings and was ready for the continued saga of August. To be fair, I read this for free in exchange for an honest review. I found it fresh, unpredictable, and thrilling with a touch of wit and whimsy. Haisley began with high intensity and continued throughout the entire story.

The protagonist is lovable and the antagonist is mysteriously malevolent. I can't wait to find out the secrets of August's parents and why the CIA is so hell-bent on capturing her. The range of settings may be a bit superfluous, but the story jetted along so seamlessly, that it was not a big deal.

Bravo for a new, enjoyable mystery series.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The book was overall very enjoyable and quite a fats paced read. It is action packed from the first few pages which carries on throughout the book; enabling the reader to get swept up in the and easily keep on reading until the very end. Only a few problems I had with the book was that some parts were not quite believable. The characters fall for each other very quickly and August, despite being young and naive to what her parents were involved in, knows exactly how to fight and use a gun.
Nonetheless it was very well written and the protagonists are well developed and easy to route for. A good read for a teenage audience.

This is the first book in the August Havens series. It is packed with action from the get-go, and things do not calm down from there. The heroine is quite young and said to be special, although the reader is never quite informed about what it is that makes August so special. The reader is left guessing all throughout the book, together with the protagonist who is just swept along in the adventure.

While this officially is the starting point to the series, I feel like it would have been better off as a prequel, with another book being a more natural starting point. The reader is given a lot of insight into the background of the character, but the book itself does not contain a clear story with a beginning, middle, and end. It does make one want to read the next book, but more in order to understand what is going on than anything else.

When read with the idea in mind that this book prefigures the main story, it is actually quite enjoyable and I could imagine this work being a hit with a teenage audience.

I was given a copy of this book courtesy of Shelby Haisley and Booktasters for an honest review. From the first chapter to the last chapter, Wanted (The August Havens Series Book 1) is an adrenaline-filled roller coaster ride. Fifteen-year-old August Havens world is turned upside down when her parents are killed in a car accident. Except it wasn't an accident. Before his death, her father tells August she is someone who is not supposed to exist.

Captured by the CIA, her memory is erased. Aaron Steele, a rogue agent, rescues her because of his promise to her father to protect her. He tells her that the answers she seeks are in a safe deposit box in Zurich. First, they have to make a stop in New York. August then meets Jase Beckett, an inventor and someone who Aaron also rescued from the CIA.

The danger builds as the trio heads to Zurich to learn her parent's secrets and why August is the final piece in the puzzle that the government seeks.

This story was a thrilling nail biter with well-developed characters. By the end of the story, you are invested in their wellbeing.

An amazing and well-written story, I recommend adding it to your collection and look forward to reading book two.

After reading the blurb of this story, I was quite tempted to dive right in!
August's parents died in a car accident ,or so was claimed, while she barely survived. The last thing her father told her to do was to run, which is exactly what she did.
She had to run away from gangsters and the CIA who suddenly wanted something from her, and try to find the secrets that her parents kept from her.
It was an enjoyable and fast paced read, the only thing that seems, to me at least, kinda off is how quickly the characters fall for each other. Nevertheless, I would definitely LOVE to read the sequel!!

Wanted is the story of a 15 year old girl named August. August is being hunted by the CIA for reasons unknown to her. The story is action packed from beginning to end. We travel with August as she tries to avoid the CIA, falls in love with a tech genius, and tries to uncover the secret her parents have kept from her.

It was well written and easy to read. My only note is that a small portion of the story is unbelivable. It's hard to believe that August was shot, almost died, and immediately escaped the hospital in the way that she did. Other than that, I absolutely enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more on the saga of August Haven.

August was a perfectly normal 15 year old girl until her parents died in a car crash. Since then the CIA have been chasing her as she is the missing piece that they have been working on. She soon escapes with the help of a friend of her fathers, Aaron, who is ex CIA. They then team up with Jace, a 19 year old inventor, who is also on the run from the CIA. Together the trio must escape the United States and make it to Switzerland in order to find out the answers to her parents secrets, which have been left in a safety deposit box. Just how far would you go for the trust and just what would you be willing to do?
This is a Young Adult book that does not answer all of your questions in one as it is part of a series. That being said, it was not done in the wrong way, and gave the reader plenty to dwell on during these pages. The story itself is decent, although it took me a while to get through with this pregnancy. All in all this is a decent escape the government book that shows some promise.

August Havens is a 15 year old girl whose life drastically changes when her parents die in a supposedly accident and she instantly becomes CIA’s new most wanted. But she is not alone, her father’s friend Aaron, his protege Jace and her cousin Juliet will dive in with her in the numerous adventures ahead where the goals are simple: don’t die and don’t get caught.

This action-packed story while have you skimming through the pages quickly. Although there are some points that weren’t quite to me liking such as the quick-as-lighting romances, the almost bipolar changes in some characters and several inconsistencies throughout the story.
Overall it’s a nice fast paced, light reading that will set your mind into a world of spies, chases and adventures.
