NHL Scorpions #3

Cage's Misconduct

Rate this book
Dalton ‘Cage’ Booker is the number one goalie for the San Diego Scorpions. Most people describe him as willful and stubborn—sometimes even difficult to control. More often than not, words fly out of his mouth without the benefit of passing through his brain first. And women love him.

Karen LaGrange, little sister of the former enforcer for the Scorpions, lives in Canada, where she works with special needs children. After losing her job to downsizing, she makes an extended visit to San Diego, forming a friendship with the errant goalie.

Through frequent reminders that they are friends without benefits, Karen struggles to keep their relationship platonic, but the more she shuts him down, the more he wants her.

Can Cage convince Karen to slip under the sheets with him, or is he destined to be firmly entrapped in the friend zone?

ABOUT ME
I am a simple country girl from South Jersey who took my love of reading and shifted it into a love of writing. I am an avid hockey fan (Go Flyers!), which prompted me to start my writing with hockey romance stories. I now write erotic romance as well, and maybe something a bit different than both of those genres in the not-so-distant future.

When not at work as a full-charge bookkeeper in Philadelphia, I'm at home writing, reading or simply spending time with my husband of over twenty years. Both my husband and I love animals immensely, which is evident in my writing. Even my badass characters have pets. Heck, one has a bunny!

If there is any advice I would impart upon you, it is this: Follow your dreams. Always. Don't let anyone tell you it's foolish or unattainable. You have but one life to live—live it!

Nope, nope and fucking NOPE! I quit.

I am SICK of reading about the hero fucking anything he can get his hands on. In FRONT of the heroine! I have NO respect for heroines who "fall" for these douchbags.

There is no way I can continue to read since I am already sick to my stomach at 28%. I do not care if the hero undergoes a brain and penis transplant. He is too much of a whore and a jerk for me to take one minute longer.

Aww, Cage, you little shit….how beautifully you've redeemed yourself…I couldn't be more happier for you. Finally.

Dalton “Cage” Booker, as most of all you remember, is the hot tempered, cocky, foul mouthed, ladies man that grates on everyone’s last nerves. Most particularly, Jody LaGrange.

He’s quick to talk as he is quick to act. And the last guy any brother would steer their sister far away from.

But, beneath all his rough, spiky edges, he has a heart full of gold, and that’s what Karen LaGrange (obviously, Jody’s little sis), sees in him.

At first, Cage being Cage, he hits on Karen. But Karen being the realist that she is, she rejects, and the two begin in a strictly platonic friendship with the other, despite Cage’s wanting to take his and Karen’s relationship to the next level.

I have to say, I really loved the dynamics between Cage and Karen as their relationship went beyond just feeling an inkling for the other and jumping into a bed to have sex. No. Their whole existence is built on growing understandings, trust, and the ever wavering faith they have in each other.

When Karen revealed her tragic past….when Cage revealed his background…and when both were at their highest of highs, and lowest of lows…they were always there for each other and each’s biggest supporter and light in the crumbling darkness.

I really loved them as friends, and when they developed into lovers, I was overwhelmed with excitement and sexual thrill. I mean, *cough cough* you can’t keep a girl hanging and hanging with that much tension and not want to jump and hump a leg after all of that pent up desire between Cage and Karen… Come on, I’m only human. *wink wink*

Anyway, Cage, it’s been real. Hope to see you again in Boardwalk Breakers!!

Yes! Dalton "Cage" Booker is the man I have been wanting to read about.

We've met him in the earlier books in the series. His a cocky, swears like a sailor, is hot tempered with a short fuse. And one hell of a player - on and off the ice.

And he has a knack of rubbing people up the wrong way, especially Jody LeGrange.

Enter Jody's sister Karen - and we know right from the start that there are going to be fireworks - but not always off the good kind.

I felt that spark between Cage and Karen right from the start, but Karen puts him firmly in the friend zone right from the start.

And from here we have a beautiful friendship that could be so much more.

I adored seeing the softer, sweeter side come out in Cage, and the more we got to know, the more I had to love him. My heart hurt for him the more I read.

Karen - gah at times I wanted to shake some sense into her for being such a stubborn ass! Seriously, what more does the man have to do to show you he's the real deal??? It made it hard for me to connect with her at times when she was so standoffish.

This book really is a slow burn. I mean SLOOOOOOOW. It was about 85% of the way through the book before we got to the sexy times. Way to get a girl worked up with all the UST flying around the room Ms Worrell!

And way to redeem Cage Booker to me!

I re-read Cage's Misconduct in one go and even though I had read it before, I had forgotten what a beautiful but at times heartbreaking story it was.

I can't wait to see what Ms Worrell brings us next.

3.25 RATING- I liked the friends to lovers story line in book three. Expect a manwhore that falls. I thought the chemistry between these two was good. The writing quality and style is similar to the first book in the series. (I actually skipped book two, the whole forbidden relationship story line wasn't appealing to me).

The one thing I didn't like about this book was the lack of actual sex until almost the end of the book. Say what? Yep. I think it's around the 80-85% mark. I'm not down with that =)

Review:
So this book was nothing like i expected it be. It starts off like any other alpha male sports book. You've got Cage, the hot, conceded player. Karen, the beautiful girl that sees right through his facade.

Cage is the goalie for the Scorpions. He's know as a manwhore. He never has the same girl and has no filter. No one takes him serious. Cage does all this while taking care of his family back home. The whole summer he takes care of his younger brother and his brothers best friend.

Karen is the sister of Jody (Chief), a former teammate of Cage. She is warned from the beginning not to have anything to do with Cage. She is visiting Jody for 6 months till she can go home for a new job. She is from Canada and is on a visa. She knows she has to go home because she isn't a citizen. So she fights her attraction and just enjoys her time with Cage. Until something major happens that forces them to see the relationship is deeper.

I loved the way Cage is completely devoted to Karen and really is just a big teddy bear.

This book leads into another series The Atlantic City Boardwalk Breakers. I sure hope this new series will have lots more of Cage and Karen.

I loved Nikki Worrell’s Cage's Misconduct, the third book in the NHL Scorpions Series. This contemporary hockey romance takes place in San Diego, California. It is suitable to New Adult and Adult Audiences. NHL Goalie, Dalton ‘Cage’ Booker has never had a platonic girlfriend before he met Karen LaGrange, the little sister of a former teammate. The longer Karen insists they remain “just friends” the more Cage wants her.

Nikki Worrell does a great job with her character development and plot. Everyone has Cage stereotyped as a stubborn womanizer, but Karen sees that there is more to him then everyone thinks. They become friends who are fighting their attraction to each other. I love that Cage has a pet chinchilla. I used to have a chinchilla. They are affectionate and fun pets. Karen is one of those people that everyone loves. She has had a difficult past. She and Cage undergo a lot in this story, especially Karen. Having once had salmonella poisoning, I empathized with Cage. That is one experience I would wish on no one. Unfortunately, that’s not even the worst of his experiences in this story. The ending is a great transition to Nikki Worrell’s new series, Atlantic City Boardwalk Breakers. I look forward to reading it.

Cage's Misconduct. Where to start. The first couple of paragraphs I thought "Oh, this isn't for me."I thought it was going to be a book full of wham bam, thank you ma'am. Ohhhh BOY was I wrong. There's a way deeper story. You have Cage. Hockey badboy & a MAJOR playboy. Attitude to spare. A guy everyone on the team knows is a player.

Then you have Karen. Sister to one of Cage's former teammates. Karen's Canadian, so she's in San Diego temporarily especially when her job working with special needs kids is eliminated. Karen is kind & sweet, and the baby sister of Jody, who is super protective of her. You get to know some of the things that's happened to Karen, including abuse at the hands of an ex when she was young which is the reason for Jody's overprotectiveness.
Cage sees Karen at the wedding of a teammate & sets his sights on her, but she's no fool. She doesn't fall for his charms. All she's interested in is friendship. Cage is OK with that, to start with. He never hides the fact that he wants her.

After a while, she changes her mind on the physical side of their relationship. They're on their way to his place when the unthinkable happens. Drunk kids, speeding, and running red lights. I won't tell any more, but at this point, you get into an even deeper story.

It's a lot sweeter than I anticipated. Like I said, at first I thought this book wasn't for me, but a few paragraphs in & I was hooked. I will say it can be a little confusing, it alternates perspective. One chapter is from Cage's point of view, the next is Karen's. You have your parts where you laugh, you have parts where you cry. You get mad, I mean good and mad. And you have your omg, how beautiful is that parts. Yes, the main characters are hockey players. You don't have to be a hockey fanatic to read it. I know a little bit about hockey, thanks to my hubby & son's love of it, but there's a glossary of terms at the beginning so you're not wondering what a term of phrase means, and while hockey is a big part of what's going on, that's not ALL there is to this book. I started this book Saturday afternoon & had it finished by Sunday night. It's a really good story that really pulls you in. I can't wait to read the first two books in the series! And I would LOVE a followup to this story!

Let me admit right up front that I haven't read the other books in this series yet...but that said, Cage's Misconduct does read as a standalone and if you haven't read the other books yet either, once you're done you'll want to go back and read those as well.

Having no preconceived notions about Cage's character and only knowing about him from what I read here in this story, I really liked him (well, at least after Kyrissa). I am always a sucker for the playboy meeting "the one", now throw in the fact that he is a hot hockey goalie who is at the top of his game--and a bit of a lonely guy on the inside...well, that combination clinched it for me. Karen was a little harder for me to embrace. I can't pinpoint exactly what it was about her, maybe it was just her stubbornness about staying platonic with Cage even when she's feeling something.

For me, the story did feel like it moved a bit slower than I usually prefer, and while I could really feel the emotion that Cage was putting out for Karen, I could never really feel that coming from her even at the end...so the relationship always felt a bit lopsided to me. But Cage kept me going the whole way through, and made me enjoy the story more than I would have otherwise if he wasn't written the way he was.

The story contains a TON of sexual tension that doesn't get really relieved until almost the very end of the book (which for me was a bit frustrating). There's also a tiny twist/surprise at the very end that is meant to lead toward another series which felt just a tad contrived to me. But other than that, I enjoyed the read and plan to read more by this author.

3.5 stars for Cage's Misconduct, recommended for sports romance fans (especially all you hockey fans out there!) 18+ for adult language and sexual content.

You know that feeling you get when you start a new book and instantly know it’s going to be a good one with lots of feels, some hot sexy time and instant likeability to characters well mainly a hot hockey player…yeh well this is one of those books!

Dalton “Cage” Booker number one goalie for the San Diego Scorpions described by most as a cocky, hot-headed, speak first think later, foul mouthed ladies’ man.

Karen LaGrange little sister of Jody LaGrange former enforcer for the Scorpions, loses her job in Canada where she works with children with special needs, she decides to pay her big brother a visit and have an extended vacation.

After an explosive first meeting thanks to an overprotective brother, Dalton and Karen quickly form a strictly platonic friendship much to the disappointment of Dalton who was hoping for a friends with benefits relationship…a guy can hope can’t he?

What I absolutely loved about this book was the lure of friendship to lover’s possibility and slow build of the story. I loved the banter between characters I found myself laughing out loud quite a few times. The dynamics between Dalton ad Karen friendships goes beyond just sex and when they both reveal their pasts to each they realise they are both there for each other beyond what friends are and they love each other and maybe just maybe a relationship is destined to happen, although I’m sure if you asked Dalton he’d tell you he already knew he loved Karen…the sexy badass softie.

This is the first book that I’ve read in the NHL Scorpions Series, however, it can be read as a standalone as though the other characters from the other books are woven throughout this book their backgrounds are covered briefly within this book not hindering my reading experience. I’ll definitely be going back to read the first two books in the series and definitely can’t wait to read Broadwalk Breakers!

This is book three in the Scorpion series and I have to say, it is now my favorite! When I first met Cage, I didn't like him at all. What I love about this author is how she writes people how we see them in real life. He came across as a man who liked a lot of women and really had no regard for commitment to anyone. He was all about himself. You get a glimpse of the 'real' Cage when Vlad has to have surgery in book two and can't play, leaving Cage to take over his spot as lead goalie but still, he seemed all about himself.

Karen LaGrange wants to be friends, though you get that feeling that she's in denial as she is drawn to him. She's been hurt in the past and though she wants to move on, the road to happiness is not easy for her.

I loved how the author took us down the road to see the 'real' Cage. So often in life you meet people and take them at face value. Cage is one of those characters that if he were sitting in the room with me, I'd want to get to know the 'real' him. I felt for him through this whole book as I did for Karen. They both had things they were going through and it took them a while to realize that their other half was the key to helping them along the way.

They have their ups and downs in this book (I'm not giving spoilers), the writer does a great job bringing them together and there was a bit of a shocker for me at the end but it's bringing a new series from Nikki for us to read and that excited me so much, I have already forgiven her! This is my FAVORITE book so far and Cage is my new BBF!

So I once again jumped into a series out of order and you bet your sweet ass I'm going back to the beginning ASAP!

There are a lot of things to love about this book ... but not everything. For me, I prefer the sexual push-pull tension to be relieved a lot earlier than it was, but on the flip side, it was that very tension that drew me into reading this book so quickly. So the verdict is good and bad on this one LOL

I absolutely loved Cage as a person. His characterization was spot on throughout the entire story and it never wavered. He was a player (no pun intended) with a heart of a teddy bear! **swoon** And Karen was just the loveliest creature as well. They made a good team! Their relationship as friends was heart-warming and when it morphed into the romantic pool it was just perfection. The best world a couple could ask for.

I'm really REALLY happy I jumped on this blog tour and was introduced to not only Nikki Worrell but The NHL Scorpions! I'll be getting better acquainted with the rest of the team real soon!

Dalton Booker may be Cage to everyone that knows him but there is more to this brash, bolshie goalie than meets the eye.
I am no hockey aficionado but I adore these books and of all the guys so far – Cage is my absolute favourite. He was an acquired taste so to speak but once we got to see the real man, not just the headline maker, I have to say I thought he was a sweetie and yes I know he would be spitting chips if he were ever to read that someone had said that about him!
Jody LaGrange has invited his sister to spend some time in town and since she has some time on her hands and Karen is ready to take a little time out. But her ever protective brother is determined that Cage is to keep his hands to himself and having already broken Cage’s nose once for ogling his little sister – he lets him know that a second round is most definitely on the cards if he steps out of line.
Karen is a great character, she loves her brother and accepts his need to protect her but she is more than able to look out for herself, so Jody gets a swift lesson on not stepping in where he is not wanted. She likes Cage or Dalton as she initially calls him but his reputation precedes him and she is happy to be friends – without the benefits that Cage would love to add into the equation.
I loved getting to see the real Cage and I couldn’t help but think that this was a lonely man, he had no family in the area, he didn’t mix with the guys from the team unless absolutely necessary, he lived alone in a small beachside cottage and I just wanted to give him a hug. When he was talking about the fact he could cook but didn’t because it wasn’t worth it just for him, I had a lump in my throat, bless him.
But the connection that grew between him and Karen was a relationship that would last a lifetime in the making. They really were the best of friends and everyone could see the change in him.
But Karen’s visit was only temporary, she would be heading back to Canada at the end of the summer – unless she could find a way to stay but she was running out of options.
When they finally decide or should I say when Karen finally decides to give in to the feelings that she has been keeping inside, she is getting no complaints from Cage, he is more than happy to get with the program – hell he has been dreaming about having her beneath him for weeks – but in their hurry to get back home, their lives are shattered and everything that lay before them has shifted.
I knew when Karen’s nurse had to go and get Cage from his hospital room to calm her down that this pair were inseparable –that they would make it but how far they were going to go – I wasn’t quite sure.
Would Karen take him up on his offer of assistance with her problem, staying in the country, after all he did tell her all she had to do was ask him- cheeky sod!
I adored the fact the story was told from dual points of view, that they both had the opportunity to talk to me, to let me hear exactly what was going on inside their heads. Their inner monologues were so engaging and both of them had the, most fabulous sense of humour.
Two characters that knew their own minds and that together were as tight as a couple could possibly be.
I loved their fire, the combustion that sparked between them, I loved the fact that they were friends, that they genuinely cared about each other, that they spoke or messaged almost every day, that they riled each other but were willing to admit when they were wrong and that they could forgive and forget.
There was some situations that left me sad but they quickly brought a smile to my face when I it was clear that they didn’t share my sadness, they saw what they had and they looked for the positive.
When they kicker came at the end I was shaking my head but when I flipped to the last page, I knew why and I have to say since it sounds like I ‘ll be getting a bit more Cage and Karen , I finished this book a very happy camper!

This is a real slow burn of a story. With two characters who start out as acquaintances, become friends and then slowly fall in love.

As for the actual story. It was sweet, enjoyable, and easy to read. And I really liked how there was much more to Cage than initially portrayed. It also did keep me engaged from beginning to end and I would recommend it to others. Especially anyone who has read and enjoyed the NHL Scorpion Series so far, or likes their Hockey Romance on the sweeter side.

This was a new one for me.

I don’t normally pick up hockey books, romance or otherwise, but there was something about the blurb of this one that just pulled me in. I’m glad that it did. Considering this was also by an author that I’d never read before, it was a pretty great win all the way around.

We’ve got Cage, the “typical” hockey star. You know the type. Will do whatever whenever with as many different puck bunnies as he can get and isn’t really interested in changing. Not for anyone.

Then, on the other end of the spectrum, we’ve got the sister of a hockey star in Karen. Someone whose life is far less glamorous than that of the goalie she meets and eventually falls for. While fun and outgoing, more of a homebody type who enjoys what she does for a living. Working with special needs children.

Opposites really, but not at the same time. Because there is so much more to Cage than meets the eye. Things that you don’t get to see until he meets and gets shot down by Karen. Someone who wants to be more than just a lay and in the end, becomes that and so much more.

I love characters that have more than one layer to them. Ones that as the story progresses, you see different shades of. Things that people only looking at the surface would never see and Cage was most definitely like that.

He wasn’t perfect, he played games, screwed around and screwed up, but his heart, especially as it pertained to his family and Karen, was just so damn perfect. There even being one point with a fan where he legitimately made me melt and awww out loud lol. He was great.

Karen worked for me too, on multiple different levels. She wasn’t easy walked on or over. She didn’t take crap, from her brother or from Cage and even though she felt an attraction, she held firm a lot of the time in terms of not just being a conquest. She was a pretty great character.

I think the pacing of this story, the way that it didn’t move super quickly and everything seemed to take its time (even with the right amount of drama thrown in) was well done. Had these two moved really quickly and fallen into bed they wouldn’t have worked for me. But this, the way that they started as friends and things progressed until a pretty unexpected event happens and awakens things even more was the best possible thing for them. It made them feel real to me.

It wasn’t just a fictional story anymore, but something I could actually unfolding in real time. So my hat is off to the author.

This was a great read and I’ll definitely be checking out more from this author in the future.

My thanks to the author and all others involved in letting me real this. It’s a journey that I’m glad I was a part of.

I think I became a hocker fan! Hot player who finally redeem himself, I really enjoyed how the author put the main characters together.
Sweet story with a heavy sexual tension. ⭐️⭐️⭐️3.5 - 4 stars.⭐️⭐️⭐️
Review to come!

This was my first book from Nikki Worrell, and I love hot athletes stories.
We have the story of Cage Booker and Karen LaGrange. He’s the number one goalie for the San Diego Scorpions, she’s the little sis of a former enforcer.

So as you might immediately guess, the two of them connected. Fireworks and definitely an awesome chemistry. Karen doesn’t want to be another random woman and only offers friendship. Interesting isn’t it? Surprisingly, Cage felt confortable around Karen and becomes very quickly his friend … flirting a lot with a woman who doesn’t want to be involved with him.
Lines are blurred from the beginning between the hot-tempered guy, man-whore, who seems to get it all but so lonely and the selfless and brave woman.

Karen is off-limits but Cage can stay away from her. The more she was rejecting his advances, the more he wanted her, again heavy sexual tension!!! And the poor guy tried but she was so stubborn. Until the moment he hoped she would surrender, he  accepted what she offered. And it worked. They created a strong bond and strangely acting like a couple without really being one. All goes naturally. I really appreciated this, both trying to fight their attraction, afraid to ruin their friendship.
The hot steamy atmosphere was intense and I couldn’t wait to read the moment when the bubble would explode. All I can say, the author didn’t disappoint.

This book is number 3 of the series and we have some characters from the first ones make their appearance, you have to memorize a lot of people, and I think you should read the first two books. Family and friends are also an important part of the story and it was quite well melting into it.
What was bothering me a little, is all the lashing out about Cage (he’s not an angel for sure), but with all the warning about how she can’t be with him, was a little bit repetitive; the fight between her brother and Cage was at first entertaining and hilarious but it was too much sometimes. Reading also about how people was not having his back, only Karen who was always here for him.

This book was slow to build up the passion. and it takes too long for them to get together, the friend part was expanded too much. I get the point that it was important for the plot but I wished they became an item sooner. The background characters was solid and heartbreaking, the plot kinda solid but it was going on and on. Hot player who finally redeem himself, I really enjoyed how the author put the main characters together.
Sweet story with a heavy sexual tension.

Review:
“Her fingers were running through my hair when I pulled back just far enough to look inot her eyes. I wanted her to see the heat in mine. I held nothing back from her as I placed my forehead against hers. ‘Can’t you see what you do to me?’ Not waiting for or even needing an answer, I went right back to her plump lips.”

5 hockey stars!! First book I’ve read in the series, and I can tell you I’m hooked!!!

Dalton ‘Cage’ is a hotheaded hockey player, but he’s a total ladies man! I mean of course, right? After losing her job, Karen ends up striking up a friendship with Dalton. And while their friendship blossoms, Karen has a hard time keeping things platonic. And Dalton is doing anything to get her in bed.

This book is steamy and sexy!! I loved Dalton and his bad boy ways and I loved the way Karen was the perfect balance to Dalton. This is the first book I’ve read in the series, and I don’t think you need to read the others to follow along. But after reading this book, I will be grabbing the other books ASAP!

This is the third book in the series.

Dalton (Cage) is the goalie for the Scorpions hockey team. You won't find Cage hanging out with the other guys, he's more of a loner. When it come to women Cage is your typical playboy. Love them for a night, and send them on there way. Cage really has no one. and he's not sure why that is. He plays his heart out at the games, so why does he prefer to just go home every night alone? Maybe, Karen can help him with that. Karen lives in Canad, and is visiting her brother Jody (who despises Cage). Karen has had a rough past with men. Because of her past Jody is now very over protective of her.

Cage and Karen met at a wedding for a fellow player. When cage first lays eyes on Karen he of course can't keep his mouth shut, and he's so busy checking out Karen that he never sees Jody's fist fly at him. After Cage hits the floor Karen runs to his defense, and from that moment on Cage knows there is something about Karen. Cage can't get her out of his head, Karen can't seem to get Cage out of her head either, But she is trying to convince herself she only wants to be his Friend.

When Karen losses her job and decides to visit her brother agin Cage jumps on the chance to spend more time with Karen even if she wants to keep him in the friend zone. Just when Karen give up and decides it's time to see what's between her and Cage disaster strikes. Will Cage's overly sweet side convince Karen to move to the states for good, or will his temper make her run back to Canada?

I love this story, and can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the series. I love how Cage is a totally different person just for Karen. The fact that Karen never asked Cage to change, and he did it to be a better person just for her won me over. The devotion and tenderness Cage is full of made me want to reach in the book and hug him. While this book is full of sweet moments, it also will have you laughing ( love the face cream), and you won't want to miss the heart stopping moments in this story. I won't be the one to tell get your copy today to find out what happened. Oh and by the way this is the first book I read in the series and while I'm going to get the rest of the series I believe this story needs no back up from the others, it was awesome all on its own.

Cupcakes and vodka gives this story 4 of the sweetest cupcakes around all for the overly sweet Cage, but also a shot of something strong for Cages hotness factor.

Cage is the goalie for the San Diego Scorpions NHL team. He's a cocky, no filter, ladies man, and doesn't spend many nights alone. Although he doesn't do relationships. And he doesn't have any friends either. He tends to not know when to shut his mouth and that gets him into some trouble with the older players on the team, as you saw in previous books. Karen is the little sister of the Scorpion's former enforcer. After she loses her job, working with special needs children, due to downsizing, she goes to San Diego to spend some time with her brother and his family. She befriends Cage after an altercation between him and her brother before she came to San Diego, once she quickly realizes he doesn't have many friends, but she has seen a side to him that he doesn't show the other guys on the team, or any puck bunnies for that matter, she knows she needs to be there for him. They start out as friends, but when they finally are ready to take things further in their relationship, tragedy strikes. On the verge of losing Karen, Cage doesn't leave her side. What Karen will learn after waking from this tragedy will shatter her heart and life even more. Cage vows to take care of Karen until her mother comes to help her out, and doesn't take no for an answer. Karen's time in San Diego is coming to an end but neither Karen nor Cage want her to leave, but her visa is almost up and she needs to return to Canada and start looking for a new job. There is no way that Karen could stay in the US, she doesn't have an employer to sponsor her, and she's not getting married just to stay. Cage and Karen spend the last remaining days together, taking her to meet his mom and brother in Texas, just enjoying the last few days together. Karen wishes she could figure out a way so she could stay, Cage knows a way but Karen refuses, thinking that is not what he truly wants. Will Karen get to stay in the US, will she let her walls down and let Cage all the way in. Will Karen's brother stop them from going any further? This book is a must read, I hadn't read any of the previous books in the series, and I wish I had but it wasn't necessary to read before reading this one, I will be going back to read the others, but what I am most excited about is reading the new series coming out after this book that ties the two series together. Go get Cage's Misconduct if you haven't already and get to reading, you won't want to stop once you start.

I was gifted this book by the author in exchange for an honest review for MILE HIGH KINK BOOK CLUB

How do you survive the Friend Zone?

Dalton “Cage” Booker is your typical hot head, hot shot, sexy NHL hockey player who enjoys a different woman in his bed. That is, until he see the “devil in the blue dress” at a party. When he shares his appreciation of her "curvy” allure to his teammates, his night ends with an almost broken nose. Of all the women, its Jody’s baby sister. Jody knows exactly what kind of guy Cage is and he does not want him near his baby sister.

Cage wants Karen and he will have her sooner or later. He sees his next conquest but his desires are crashed and burned when she lands him in the frustrating FRIEND ZONE. He tries at every possible opportunity to remind her, they should be friends with benefits. In his quest, he finds himself falling in love and becoming a true friend. All he wants if for Karen to see him as more than a friend and to prove to her she is not his next “puck bunny”.

This book was a fun, sexy read. Cage was cocky and confident, however you couldn’t help but root for the guy. He is just lonely and uses his temper as a coping mechanism to keep his teammates at a distance. But he is a loner, dog lover, faithful son and best friend to his little brother.

The writing was excellent when portraying the dislike between Karen’s brother Jody and Cage. Karen and Cage’s back and forth flirt party was a little too platonic at times, however I liked it when CAGE (correction to name previously submitted) was able to steal a kiss or squeeze from Karen and irritate her brother at the same time. However, so much flirting and denial could really blow up in your face and it takes a toll on the person you least expects.

I enjoyed the witty banter, the sense of family between the players and Cage’s desire to wait for Karen as long as it takes. He’s a former manwhore transferred into a lover who sees something is even more important than hockey.

In closing, I give Cage’s Misconduct a 4 Kink review. with final edits

Review
5 Hockey Sticks

Yes, I love the bad boy, I love the athlete, I love a love story. I guess those are good enough reasons to love this book. However; I think this book deserves more that that. This book is the third book of the NHL Scorpions series. It is a stand alone book that can be read on its own, but I think that I may have to get the other two books. Also, it looks like this story does continue in a new series “Atlantic City Boardwalk Breakers.” Keeping my eyes out for that one.
Dalton “Cage” Booker is the goalie for the San Diego Scorpions, a player on and off the field. He tends to be a loner, never feeling like he fits in with his team mates. At the wedding of Vlad, a former teammate, and Zoe Bejsiuk Cage spots a stunning woman in an ice blue dress. Unfortunately, the stunning woman is the little sister of Jody LaGrange, former enforcer for the Scorpions. Jody is not a fan of Cage, as a matter of fact he pretty much can’t stand him. When he overhears the comments that Cage makes about his little sister, Jody loses it and decks Cage breaking his nose.
Karen, Jody’s younger sister sees something in Cage that others have missed and she reaches out to him in friendship. There is something more to this friendship and soon they become attracted to one another. Tragedy strikes and Cage helps Karen put her life back together. Is it enough to take their relationship to the next level? Should they even try since Karen can only stay in the US for a few months? As a Canadian, she can only stay in the US for a limited amount of time.
This story has everything to keep you interested. Yes it is a love story, but there is drama from Karen’s past. Big egos, and learning to trust. It also comes with a glossary of hockey terms for those of us that don’t know much about the game. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it.

This is my first time reading anything by Nikki Worrell and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this touching story. Ms Worrell has given us the readers the hell of a story ,there was moments when I felt tears runny down my cheeks and then there was other times I was laughing out loud the emotions from this story is so touching. The Characters are strong, caring ,and very lovable I have to say wow to the author for the way she wrote these characters. This is Karen LaGrange and Dalton "Cage" Booker's story, Cage is known as the hockey bad boy and a big time playboy and very misunderstood goalie of his time ,and it's said he has a black book bigger then Yankee Stadium to boot ,he has a bad temper and his attitude is even worse ,even his own teammates don't care for him. Then we have sweet, beautiful Karen LaGrange ,who just happens to be the sister of one of Cage's former teammates.Karen lives in Canada and is visiting her brother who living in San Diego temporarily ,because her job working with special needs children was eliminated .Her brother Jody is over protective when it comes to his younger sister. Karen's had it rough specialty at the hands of an ex boyfriend who abused her when she was younger . When Cage spotted Karen at a teammates wedding instantly he set his sights on her,but she's not a fool ,she knows better. But Karen only wants a friendship nothing else. But soon she changes her mind and wants more ,but so does Cage. Then one night will go back to his place a horrible thing happens Karen and Cage is in accident ,a drunk drive who is speeding goes through a red light and boom their hit. I won't go in to any more of what happen because that would rude the story for you. This story is told in point of view one chapter is told by him and the next is by her . This story by this author will suck you in and keep you there from start to finish and will leave you wanting more. I highly recommend that you read this touching story because you won't be disappointed

This is my first book by Nikki Worrell. It will not be my last. I can't wait to read Books 1 & 2 in the NHL Scorpions Series as well as the others books she has written. That should tell you that I loved this book and highly recommend reading it.

When I started reading, it struck me as odd the way the characters talked to the reader. After a couple of minutes, it seemed very natural and made me feel more a part of the story. Cage and Karen were letting me in on secrets and inside jokes. At times, it felt like they were confiding in me. This aspect definitely gave the story a uniqueness I truly enjoyed.

Cage and Karen became friends long before they acted on their feelings for each other. They were more than friends-- they both knew they could depend on the other to always be there no matter what happened. Good and bad. Sickness and health. They absolutely had chemistry!! Whenever they were together, you knew they were perfect for each other.

I kept wishing there was a glossary of Hockey terms as I know nothing about Hockey. Well, guess what? There is a glossary! Amazon automatically takes you to the first page of the story. The glossary is in the pages Amazon skips. I usually look at them before I read but, for some reason, this time I looked at them after I read the book. Won't make that mistake again!

Cage's Misconduct is extremely well-written with complex characters. It contains romance, humor, and drama. It never drags or gets boring. My only complaint was Jody. I wish he would grow up and act his age. His anger issues toward Cage were, in my opinion, way overboard. I was so happy when Karen finally told him off. Way to go, little sister!!

I will say once again, read Cage's Misconduct. I would give it more than 5 Stars but they won't let me!! Nikki Worrell is definitely on my list of " must read" authors. I think she will be on yours, too.

Cages Misconduct out now

ARC Review

I love a good hockey romance book I don't know what it is about guys that skate and are the size of a bear but give me a hockey book and I'm addicted. I've read quite a few different authors in the genre from Catherine Gayle, Helena Hunting, Deirdre Martin, Rachel Gibson to Elle Kennedy (the 1st 5 Author names currently in my 'HOCMANCE' collection !D) but I'd not come across Nikki Worrell in my frantic searches when I needed my HOCMANCE fix big mistake!

Cages Misconduct is part of the NHL Scorpions series and follows the story of Dalton 'Cage' Booker goalie for the team as he falls in lust with Karen the sister of Jody LaGrange one of his retired team mates. Cage at first comes across as a typical player chasing anything in a skirt as I'm sure you can guess this goes down well when Karen's big brother catches him lusting after his little sister. However despite Jody's best efforts he is fighting a loosing battle as Karen is just as determined to be best buds with Cage as he is to lust after her.

I loved the way Cage was written at the start all I could see was the cocky player but then as I read more discovering the softie inside, with the player persona being a defence mechanism and an FU to those who judged prior to knowing the real Cage. This book may be the 3rd in the series but it's standalone Its a 4* read for me (really 5* but the girls get a little sick of my fangirling ways sometimes so have to knock a star to get it through) and I can't wait to read more about the Scorpions if you have the same Hockey Romance addiction as me check it out!

*** I received a review copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review ***

This was my first Nikki Worrell book and I really enjoyed it. I haven't read a lot of sports romance novels, but that didn't deter me from the book. There's always 2 sides to people and Cage displays that perfectly. He shows the best side to Karen, younger sister to former team enforcer, Jody, who's extremely overprotective. And for good reason. After a tragic episode in Karen's past, he has felt guilt over his inability to stop what happened. And with Cage's reputation, he just knows Karen is going to get hurt again.

Karen sees the loneliness that Cage hides and this propels us on a journey of friendship that turns into so much more. While cocky, Cage was still a character you could like. He did stupid things, but his true character showed through and he was a guy anyone would fall in love with. Karen was a sweet, but still strong female lead. She had a tender heart, but was fierce in her defense of Cage, especially with her brother, Jody.

The hockey games and jargon weren't overwhelming and didn't detract from the romance if you're worried about picking up a book containing a sport you may not know anything about. Lots of sexual tension and of course a HEA. This was definitely a story I'd recommend.

Holy hockey sticks!!! What could be better than a story about a hot hockey player? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Yes I love hockey and I am addicted to hockey romances because every hard working hockey player deserves love! This is the story of Cage who not only plays well on the ice but off the ice as well. He is cocky and is not always a favorite of his team mates. He is a goalie so we know he has to be quick on his feet and have some serious skill sets with his hands and we are not disappointed! When he attends a wedding of one of his former teammates he is blown away by a woman he spots and as he makes a comment about her, little does he know that she is the little sister of one of the toughest guys in the league and former enforcer for the Scorpions, Jody. Jody overhears the comment and he already can't stand Cage, so this is like striking a match and Cage ends up on the losing end of Jody's fists. Jody's sister, Karen, seems to be able to see through Cage's rough exterior and they begin a friendship. Hmmmmm, but this friendship has two friends who are seriously attracted to each other. Cage has an opportunity to prove to Karen that he is all that she believes he is when she experiences a tragedy. I loved this book and you need to read it to find out the how's, where's, why's and if's of this story!

As a Canadian, there is one thing that is totally ingrained in my life – Hockey. What is better than a hot, hockey goaltender and a story about love, friendship and overcoming adversity? Nikki Worrell does a fantastic job in creating a story about Dalton “Cage” Booker, a reckless, hot-tempered, goaltender for the Scorpions hockey team. All changes when he meets Karen LaGrange sister of former Scorpions who is off limits to Cage. However, the two are unable to stay away from each other and soon a friendship ensues between the two of them.
The interactions between Cage and Karen are so fun, light and times sweet and romantic, they draw you into their little world. You feel yourself cheering on Cage as he tries to pursue Karen and have her let her guard down. However, Karen has her own secrets to hide and cannot help but be guarded around Cage. Worrell does such a wonderful job in creating a sizzling chemistry and connection between the two characters, it will leave you wanting more.
I am very excited to read the new spin-off series that will start after the end of this novel. Cage has become one of my new favorite book boyfriends and I cannot wait to read more about him – even he is justly briefly mentioned in the next installment series from Worrell. Cage is a definite must read and addition to your To-Be-Read-Shelf.

Wow..... I have to say this was the best book yet for me.
I connected right away. Strangely I connected with Cage. I'm not even sure what it was about him that made me FEEL but I did. I have to say that he is my favorite character of the series. Although if we ever get Matty's book that may change.
I really liked Karen as well. She wasn't overly whiney, clingy, or bitchy. I couldn't find her flaw honestly.
GREAT characters. Great (but heartbreaking) story. The only thing I needed was more info from the side characters. Obviously we got to hear from them but no in-depth info.
Thanks Nikki and I can't wait for more. Wow..... I have to say this was the best book yet for me.

Loved this book. From the beginning to end there is not one thing I did not enjoy. Cage tough guy goalie for the Scorpions was not as tough as he seemed. He was popular by the ladies loved the kids but he was lonely in so many ways. Then he laid eyes on Karen he thought she was so sexy, he knew he had to have her. Karen had a very protective brother Jody for good reason, she had been through a very traumatic relationship and Jody felt guilty he was not there to protect her. Now he was a bit overprotective of his baby sister. Cage was a player slept with many women could have any women he wanted, but when he set his sights on Karen he changed. Karen saw something in Cage no one else seemed to see. He was kind and caring. Will Jody back off and let Cage and Karen see if there is really something between them? Will Karen let Cage in? I smiled a lot in this book. There were some heartbreaking moments but there was happiness and joy and laughter. I truly could not put this book down once I started reading it. The author sucks you in from the very beginning. I look forward to more books from Nikki Worrel. 5 Stars
