Reincarnation: Good News for Open-Minded Christians & Other Truth-Seekers

Rate this book
For more than a thousand years reincarnation has been banned from mainstream Christian doctrine. But recently, a number of what look like credible reports of it have appeared in books and in the media. Can it actually happen, and if so, how might the reality of it impact followers of Jesus? For two years the author produced and hosted a radio show called THE TRUTH ABOUT LIFE. In that capacity, he read and interviewed authors and researchers engaged in quests for truth, including medical doctors, parapsychologists, metaphysicians, quantum physicists, near death survivors, theologians, psychiatrists, psychologists, and all manner of researchers into the true nature of reality. What he learned led him to what he believes is an accurate view of the reality we inhabit. It also led him to become a Christian. In this book you will learn what he discovered—what life is actually all about, your life included—and what we ought to do about it.

This book attempts 2 things. First, to make an argument for reincarnation using science and psuedo-science to make its point. Secondly, it attempts to reconcile reincarnation and traditional Christian teachings. I believe the author fails in both.
His "proofs" are full of statements like "and the only logical explanation is...", or "one can only conclude..." or variations of that kind of thought. The problem is, there ARE other explanations and, no, that is NOT what i must conclude from your evidence. In fact, it takes giant leaps of logic to come too some of his conclusions. Plus, though he sites many studies, none are footnoted so that we can check the facts ourselves and no rebuttals are presented to balance the facts.
On his attempt to reconcile christianity and reincarnation, he likewise fails. He uses the Bible to support his theory rather than just seeing what the Bible says. He finds random passages that sound like they MIGHT support reincarnation, while ignoring others that completely oppose it, notably "for it appointed for men once to die and after that the judgement". No room for reincarnation in that verse. Also, he does the same while pontificating his view of Jesus and God. He spends pages explaining how Jesus did not have to die because God demands a blood sacrifice, totally ignoring a simple verse that states "Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins." If God didn't set that demand, who did?
I came to read this book with some hope. Who doesn't want to believe in another few go-rounds on this fine earth of ours? I WANT to believe in reincarnation. This book did not convince me.

Informative

I would like to thank the author personally for taking the time to research this topic. As a long time follower of Christ the information you discussed was eye opening for me.
I feel like I was meant to read this book at this point in my life.
I have always felt I am different from the rest. I am different because I not only use the Bible to live by but I apply it to my life.
I was taught that their is no life after death, and the spirit dies too. That really did not sat well with me, reading your book confirmed what I was thinking already.
I am now looking for the lost books of the Bible so I can do just as Jesus taught his disciples.
Thanks again for putting this easy read and well put together work. I really appreciate it.

Enlightening

I bought this book out of sheer curiosity as I am learning that things we think are not true are still based on truth. So there must be some truth to reincarnation since the term and ideas exist. I don't agree fully with all the author talks about but his overall message that God is Love made the journey of reading this book so very worth it. The argument is not about being right or trying to change ones doctrine and belief but seeing the bigger picture...God loves us.

Very convincing read!

I liked the fact that even the apparently complicated issues were explained in simple words. Very smooth, enjoyable reading with lots of evidence. This was the third book I read by the same author. It managed to strengthen my previous thoughts and belief in reincarnation.
