New York Times bestselling author Eric Shaw Quinn is back in this hilarious whodunit taking readers on a dishy insider’s tour through Hollywood’s bedrooms and backlots.
When ghostwriter Paige Blanche gets unceremoniously fired by mega-celebrity Angela Panderson, the most famous woman in the world -- known to her fans as Angel -- Paige is left destitute and more than a little bitter. A chance encounter between the two rivals on the night of the party celebrating Angel’s engagement to a billionaire media mogul publically reignites their feud. Hours later the body of Angel’s murdered fiancé turns up in her hotel suite. Clearly being set up, Angel arrives at Paige’s door, covered in blood and pleading for help from the last man on earth who’d want to help her and the only one who can’t turn her down. Together, the two embark on a madcap romp through the looking glass of Hollywood as they try to solve the murder, clear their names, and get a three picture deal in the process.
Written with the same scathing wit and unflinching insight that has made its beloved author the host of his own popular podcast TheDinnerPartyShow.com, Write Murder is a cross between The Devil Wears Prada and the novels of Jackie Collins, a can’t miss read for fans of Hollywood secrets and satire.

ERIC SHAW QUINN wrote what would become his debut novel during his spare time while working as an advertising director and theatre critic. But Say Uncle, a comic and celebratory tale of an eccentric gay man who receives custody of his infant nephew after his sister is killed in a tragic accident, took ten years to find a publisher. The idea of a gay man raising a child was deemed so controversial at the time that one editor went to far as to reject the manuscript with the words, “You and I just march to a different drummer, Mr. Quinn.” Upon its publication, the film rights were snatched up almost immediately, where after some of Hollywood’s brightest stars spent another few years agonizing over whether or not American moviegoers were ready for such a groundbreaking look at love and family. A studio merger prevented the film from getting made. So Eric decided it was time for a pen name. As “Quinn Brockton” he wrote two original novels (Never Tear Us Apart and Always Have, Always Will) based on characters from Showtime’s hit series Queer as Folk. Soon after he was chosen to write two novels based on the wild life of mega-celebrity, Pamela Anderson. He was hired to just be the “ghost writer” but then Ms. Anderson outed him to the world during an interview with Jay Leno, and the resulting media blitz took Eric around the world, landed him a spread in the National Enquirer and earned him the title of Amazon’s #1 Chick-Lit Author of 2004. Eric's recently published his first murder mystery, Write Murder, the first in a series inspired by his sojourn in the celebrity spotlight. When he’s not busy writing novels, he writes, produces and hosts for his You Tube channel, The Dinner Party Show with Christopher Rice & Eric Shaw Quinn. This was a FUN book. A perfect beach read. Not much more to it though. If your up for a light hearted murder mystery give it a chance. Bonus if you are familiar with Los Angeles.

Long time "The Dinner Party Show" listener, I have come to absolutely fall in love with Mr. Quinn. As a matter of fact, I was there the day the show launched. Ok, I wasn't there, but listened from Nevada LOL! Anyway, I immediately loved his sense of humor, dry puns, and his elegant way with words. But what I didn't know, was how wonderful his brain is for writing. Even after reading his funny, "Say Uncle" did I have any clue how amazing, the long awaited, Write Murder was going to be!

As you crack into the murder mystery, you are met by Paige, the ghostwriter to none other than "the most famous woman in the world," Angel Panderson. Poor bloke thinks he is getting a good writing gig. Unfortunately, it's more like getting stuck with that one kid in class, that kicked the back of your chair, repeatedly, until you lost your mind and hit him with your school books.

I really wish I could blurt out everything I loved about this book, but it would show way too many spoilers! What I can say, is be prepared to literally laugh-out-loud, as these two wannabe-detectives, try to save their own butts from a murder charge, when Angel's fiancee is found dead on the night of their engagement party. Filled with loads of who-done-its, twists and turns, and humor by the plenty, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good murder mystery and a good laugh! Well done, Mr. Quinn!!! Oh, also, what I can add, you really don't see that coming! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS BOOK!

A truly fun read. Eric Shaw Quinn has a sense of humor like no other. I usually figure out "who done it" before the end in most murder mysteries, but not this time. Well done sir. You got me. This made for a good rainy weekend read.

This is one of those books where you can see the writer has a vision but it's too blurry. You can't tell what lane this book is trying to be in. Is it camp? Is it funny? Is it a murder mystery? Does it end up being none of them? There was a lot about this book that irritated me, maybe that's why it took me a year to want to finish. A book like this should be fun and easy to read, but it felt like a chore. The worst was when we overly describes details that take away from the action or drama. I get setting the scene, but this wasn't it. Like, I don't need the five iterations of what the sushi restaurant was. It didn't serve any point.

The characters aren't nice or even likable. You're not rooting for anyone in this book. They are one note. He doesn't give them any depth, which is disappointing. Even in campy books, the characters have something more than this.

The stupid names were fun and I appreciated it, but there were obvious places where puns would've been better and where being too over the top hurt it for me.

Quinn does dialogue really well though. The last 10% of the book was entertaining and I enjoyed that but it doesn't make up for the rest of the book. It felt like it couldn't find its lane so it chose them all and ended up being a car wreck.

When the Fates dispensed with their gifts, the pre-born Eric Shaw Quinn was clearly endowed with an overabundance of the gift of gab, and nowhere is he as riotously, egregiously funny as here. Hollywood snark in the hands of the improbable Paige Blanche becomes an irresistible combination. The main gripe I have with this funny book is the title. The Write Murder Mystery SERIES. Series means 1, 2, 3... So where's the rest? More importantly, when?

In a word, fun.
In two words, super fun.
In three words . . . well, you can see where this is headed.

"Pricilla Queen of the Desert" meets "Moonlighting" (Google it for those too young to know it); but enough of the entertainment references, as this book has plenty of them. I must admit I am not one usually drawn to thriller or crime novels, but this book mixed it with high camp comedy to make it enjoyable.
Without a doubt, it read like the screenplay for a tele-movie, or straight to DVD that it deserves to be. Though I would shudder at trying to cast the players; Me-thinks Eric Shaw-Quinn should make a Hitchcock cameo at least, or play the Queen B role.
I am not enamoured of the Hollywood scene, and did miss many of the landmark references, but recognised enough of the iconic landmarks to get a good picture.
With the Real Estate description of some of the abodes, maybe Mr Shaw-Quinn could also limelight as a property journalist too.
I felt like I had to slog through the first half of the book, setting the scene, plot and characters. I romped through the last half though, as it all came together.
The writing is an easy to read style, short, sharp chapters, frequently ending on matinée cliff hangers that only emphasised the screen writing quality and kept me going on for that little bit more to find out what happened next.
A good start to what I look forward to be a fun series.

An absolute gem of a book, packed with laugh-out-loud one-liners and celebrity caricatures which teeter on the edge of libellousness. As a mystery, it motors along nicely and manages to throw a few surprises in. As a comedy, however, it's a work of genius. It's very rare that a book makes me laugh out loud, but this is one I had to stop reading at work for just that reason.

It's a pity it was released in October, because this the perfect book to take on holiday.

The funniest book about Hollywood since Joe Keenan's "My Lucky Star". I can't wait for the sequel!

Quirky caper full of very witty dialogue. Paige and Angel's antics will have you in hysterics. Even more entertaining than finding out "who done it" and why, I found myself looking forward to what strange situations the characters would get into next. I would love to take a road trip with Paige. Well done Eric Shaw Quinn. Looking forward to Volume 2.
