Holy wow! I truly enjoyed each and every short story in this collection! And that's saying a lot, usually there's at least one or two stories in a collection that I'm not fond of, but each one of these diverse stories was engrossing - in their own ways... Can't stress enough how good this collection is, definitely worth purchasing. I know I'll be rereading this book and I'm definitely going to check out the author's other works.
Apparently giving authors pulp titles and asking them to write stories based on the titles just doesn't work. There are a few good ones but the rest are rather lackluster. Compared to the rest of the Fiction River series, this one falls flat.
I really dig this Fiction River series but this one didn't work for me. It just had too many clinkers for me, and the last few stories in the book really fell flat for me. There were a couple great stories, but they couldnt hold up the whole anthology. I loved the idea for this one though, they were given an over the top Pulp title and then they had to create a nonpulp fiction story out of it. Those that succeeded were great, but then the clinkers. Whoa. But on writing this, I love that they tried a weird concept, respect the attempt.
