Whirlwind: The Sequel

Rate this book
Ruby Bowers is back, along with her mom’s three other “precious gems,” with all the laughs, tears, and drama that engulfed their lives in Dark Clouds, the maiden voyage of novelist Crystal L. Bass. In Whirlwind, a sequel that plows through seas as stormy as the first, Ruby’s own situation has become life-threatening.

In Dark Clouds, Ruby was overwhelmed by the dysfunction of her family, but this time it’s the love of her life, the one person who has been so good to her, who is bringing her down. What is happening with Price, the man who has been her rock when so much else has gone wrong? Why has he suddenly seemed so distant? Why doesn’t he answer his phone when she reaches out to him? And why is he seemingly allowing his homeboy to drag him down?

Now in college, Ruby is discovering just how difficult love can be. Is the situation with Price like the words of that song—“Love don’t live here anymore”? Or is she just trippin’?

Bass, following her brilliant introduction with Dark Clouds, has a sequel that is guaranteed to keep readers fixated — laughing, crying, praying, and yearning for more — as Ruby, fam and friends navigate their way through the back alleys of Baltimore to five-star hotels, from drug drop-offs to movie sets, passing along the way through strip clubs, college campuses, and lockdown in state prison, doing their best to survive in a hard-knock world.

Whirlwind was an good read. I didn’t read the first one and jumped right into The Sequel so it took a minute for me as a reader to get the jest of the story. Crystal Bass did a wonderful job of capturing the ups and downs of the relationship that Ruby and Price face, but also that we as couple face in our relationship journey.
Loved how the book was able to take readers on an emotional rollercoaster. Author made it possible to identify with the character once I was able to get into the book. The book had a slow start, but picked up as you got further into the book.

Relatable

I liked this book because it was so relatable. Crystal had me drawn in to wanting to know what was next, like a movie. This could be a movie. I would really like to read a sequel to Whirlwind to find out what
happened when Price got out. Did Crystal go back? Did Price send Lu after her? Did Price find out what she did? I've been thru similar situations that Crystal had gone thru and all I can say is she's a strong young woman.

loved this book

OMG Crystal done did it again. This book was such a great follow up to the 1st. Ruby like so many woman fell hard in love and that love has left her blinded to the man he truly was. So grateful that Crystal touched upon so many topics in this book to open people’s eyes to the negativity in this world
