THE VIKING QUEEN'S MEN

Contessa Dahl has spent most of her life in a haze. A rudderless orphan, most decisions involved her fists and feet: should she fight or should she run? At twenty-eight, she’s ready to clean up her act, but Tess might be a bit premature because she’s destined to be a special kind of leader.

Born into a group of desert-dwelling telepathic descendants of Vikings, Tess was meant to become a link for them all—their queen and conduit. Her kidnapping and the subsequent death of her parents meant her people, the Afótama, have had a hole in their web for too long. Now that she’s back at home, it’s Tess’s job to mend it. But, she can’t do it alone.

She needs a perfect mate to fill in her psychic gaps, and two men claim to be fated for the job. Harvey Lang, her childhood champion, and the group outsider Oliver Gilisson would fight to the death to win her. However, to gain full control of her considerable power, she must find a way to keep them both.

THE CHIEFTAIN'S DAUGHTER

It has been nearly a thousand years since the Afótama have had a chieftain, and the old Viking gods have decided it’s time to return some power to the tribe’s men. Harvey Lang and Oliver Gilisson have barely settled into their roles as queen’s consorts when new powers awaken along with undeniable hungers.

Queen Contessa now has two chieftains and twice as many problems. She’s not only in the midst of using her powerful psychic abilities to track long-missing clanspeople, but now has to contend with mercenaries targeting the Afótama’s New Mexican desert home and a megalomaniac fairy queen wants to take Ollie’s sons. Further, her two men seem to have forged an incendiary connection that has left her feeling cold.

If Harvey, Ollie, and Tess are to be the leaders who finally return magic to their people, they must first come to terms with having power of their own. And to balance their strengths, they may have to become a true ménage instead of a sometime threesome.

1. The Viking Queen' s Men is the opening novel in a five book series, The Afotama Legacy. It ends with a Happy For Now and a mild cliffhanger lead-in to the next book as part of an overarching storyline. Trent has a unique style of writing and her books have very dominant female leads who remain fiercely independent after mating. In this case, Contessa or Tess, was kidnapped from her clan, the Afotama, when she was very young and was raised in the human foster care system. As an adult, she is abducted by Harvey, a friend from foster care who recently learned of the Afotama and his and Tess' status in the clan. He returns her to her family and claims her as his mate. But Ollie, a man from a warrior splinter group, also claims her, setting in motion a future none of them envisioned.
2. The Chieftain's Daughter. Tess and her men have settled in at Norseton, but have not yet 'come out' as a triad. Duty takes Tess away from home just as the gods begin to return power to her, which spills over to Harvey and Ollie. Their forced time together and the spillover of power causes the men to reexamine their roles with Tess and each other. They begin to see that for the circle of power to become complete, they will need to become a true menage. But they cannot in good conscience act without Tess' knowledge, if not her acceptance. Tess is picking up their emotions over the web in spite of their attempts to block her, however, and the insecurities and fears from her foster care days begin to resurface. This book ends with a lead in to the next book, Viking' s Pride, available as a single and in the Vikings Untamed anthology.
The Norseton Wolves Series and the Hearth Motel Series are spinoffs of the Afotama Legacy, which provides the backstory and foundation for them both. The faux simplicity of the initial storyline is balanced by the richness and depth of the details and characters. This tip of the iceberg provides a wealth of material for many exciting ventures to come. I can't wait.

These were great books and very well written. Fast paced and full of action, it keeps you glued to the pages from front to back. I love all the characters in this book and found myself writting the story for some of them in my head as I was reading. This book is full of passion, romance and some hot kink. It's a must read
