Good Filler. The ending.... *shrugs* I'm just tired of that character but I'll trust Kirkman to follow through with a badass story.

I'm new to The Walking Dead comics, and this was actually the first one I read. This kept me interested & I'm excited to read more!

The ending of the previous issue left me on edge after Lydia completely lost her composure and pointed a gun at Andrea, convinced that everyone was lying to her. Considering everything she had endured growing up under Alpha and the Whisperers, I couldn't entirely blame her paranoia, but it was still an incredibly dangerous situation. At the same time, Alexandria is slowly falling apart from within. The massacre has left everyone angry, grieving, and desperate for revenge, and I knew those emotions would eventually explode. What I wasn't expecting was just how fractured the survivors would become. This issue isn't driven by walkers or even the Whisperers—it is driven by fear, grief, and distrust, proving that sometimes the greatest threat isn't outside the walls but within the people trying to survive together.
The issue opens immediately after Lydia pulls a gun on Andrea. Terrified and convinced that she is being deceived, Lydia repeatedly demands to know where they are taking her. Andrea instinctively draws her own weapon, unwilling to take any chances. The situation escalates within seconds as Carl, seeing Andrea point a gun at Lydia, reflexively raises his own gun toward Andrea. For a brief moment, Carl is unknowingly aiming his weapon at one of the people who has practically helped raise him. Realizing what he has done, he quickly redirects his aim toward Lydia instead and tells her that if she refuses to lower her gun, he will shoot her in the arm. The tension hangs heavily in the air before everyone slowly lowers their weapons. After calming down, they finally talk through the misunderstanding instead of allowing panic to dictate their actions.
Elsewhere, Alpha walks alone through the forest until she reaches a tree where she finally allows herself to break down. Hidden away from the rest of the Whisperers, she cries over the painful decision to send Lydia away. One of her followers discovers her and quietly acknowledges that she must be grieving her daughter. He reassures Alpha that sending Lydia away was necessary because Lydia was too weak to continue living as a Whisperer, but he also notices Alpha showing emotion and worries that others may perceive it as weakness.
The Whisperer attempts to comfort her and promises he will never reveal what he has seen. Alpha silently listens before suddenly slashing his throat open without hesitation. As another Whisperer arrives moments later asking what happened, Alpha calmly fabricates a story, claiming that the dead Whisperer had challenged her authority. Without questioning her explanation, the remaining Whisperer accepts her version of events, and the body is simply left behind to be processed. The scene serves as another chilling reminder that Alpha values authority above every personal relationship, even above those who remain loyal to her.
Meanwhile, Dwight returns to the Sanctuary after attending the fair and speaks privately with Laura. Emotionally exhausted from everything happening around him, he admits that he no longer believes he is capable of leading the Saviors. Between separating from Sherry, facing the growing threat of the Whisperers, and carrying the burden of leadership, Dwight feels overwhelmed. Laura, however, firmly reminds him that the Sanctuary still needs someone to guide them. She refuses to let him simply walk away from his responsibilities during one of the most dangerous periods they have faced since the war.
Back in Alexandria, Rick gathers everyone for a public meeting. Rather than announcing immediate retaliation, he explains that they first need information. His plan is to secretly cross into Whisperer territory, study their numbers, observe how they operate, and formulate a strategy before making any decisions. Rick believes that charging blindly into battle would only create more unnecessary deaths.
The crowd reacts with outrage. Many survivors interpret Rick's caution as weakness and cowardice. They demand immediate revenge for their murdered friends and family. Eugene further inflames the situation by asking where Lydia is, prompting Rick to reveal that he secretly sent her away to keep her safe from the increasingly hostile community.
The revelation only intensifies everyone's anger. Heated arguments rapidly escalate into physical violence as community members begin attacking one another. Chaos spreads throughout the gathering until Rick finally draws his revolver and fires a warning shot into the air. The sudden gunshot silences the crowd instantly. Rick points the gun toward everyone and coldly warns that if another person throws a punch, he will shoot them himself. He orders everyone to return home and cool off before any further discussion takes place.
Later that evening, after witnessing just how unstable Alexandria has become, Rick quietly walks down to Negan's prison cell. Without any dramatic buildup, he tells Negan that he needs his help.
Negan simply smiles.

That honestly made me stop reading for a second because Andrea has protected Carl for years and has repeatedly risked her own life for him. Thankfully, Carl immediately realized what he was doing and redirected his gun toward Lydia instead to de-escalate the situation, but that split second revealed just how clouded his judgment has become. I understand that he cares deeply about Lydia, but moments like this make me worry that his emotions are beginning to override his common sense.
Alpha continues to fascinate me as one of the series' most terrifying villains. For the first time, we see undeniable proof that she genuinely loves Lydia. Watching her cry alone in the woods humanizes her in a very unsettling way because it reminds us that even monsters are capable of loving someone. However, the very next moment she murders one of her own loyal followers simply because he witnessed her vulnerability. That scene perfectly captures who Alpha truly is. She values power above love, leadership above family, and fear above trust. Any sympathy I briefly felt for her disappeared the instant she slit that man's throat. It also made me realize that Eugene may have unknowingly identified her greatest weakness. If merely sending Lydia away causes Alpha to secretly grieve, then Lydia remains one of the few things capable of affecting her emotionally. The challenge is finding a way to exploit that weakness without sacrificing Lydia herself.
I also felt bad for Dwight throughout this issue. Ever since taking over the Sanctuary, he has constantly carried responsibilities that few people appreciate. Losing Sherry again clearly devastated him, and now another war is looming over everyone. It makes perfect sense that he feels mentally exhausted. Still, Laura is right. The Sanctuary cannot afford a leadership crisis now, especially when every community may soon need to stand together against a common enemy.
Rick's meeting with Alexandria perfectly demonstrates how fragile civilization really is. One massacre was enough to push an entire community toward violence against one another. I completely understand why everyone is furious. They lost friends, family members, and respected leaders in one horrific day. Their desire for revenge is completely understandable. However, Rick's plan is still the smartest option available. Rushing headfirst into Whisperer territory without understanding their numbers or tactics would almost certainly lead to another massacre. Information is just as valuable as weapons, and Rick recognizes that.
That said, I honestly found myself losing patience with the crowd. Their emotions are valid, but they are allowing grief to completely override logic. Starting fights among themselves accomplishes absolutely nothing except weakening the very community they claim they want to protect. If they truly want justice, then they need discipline just as much as they need courage.
Then comes the ending.
Seeing Rick voluntarily seek out Negan was probably the biggest surprise of the issue. After everything Negan has done throughout the series, watching Rick admit that he needs his help feels almost surreal. Part of me immediately thought this was an incredibly dangerous mistake because Negan is still Negan. He's manipulative, unpredictable, and always seems to have an angle. On the other hand, Negan understands ruthless enemies better than almost anyone still alive. If there is someone capable of thinking like Alpha, it might actually be him. I still don't trust him whatsoever, and every instinct tells me this decision could backfire spectacularly, but I also can't deny that Rick has run out of conventional options.
Overall, Issue #148 is less about fighting the Whisperers and more about demonstrating how successfully Alpha has already destabilized every community without launching another attack. Grief is dividing friends, leadership is being questioned, emotions are overwhelming reason, and trust is slowly disappearing. The Whisperers may not have physically invaded Alexandria, but psychologically, they are already winning. The final page, with Rick asking Negan for help while Negan smiles in response, perfectly captures the uncertainty hanging over the entire story and left me incredibly eager to see what consequences this desperate alliance might bring.

I was glad that Andrea did not get killed and surprised to see Alpha crying over Lydia being gone. As I expected, she executed the witness to her sorrows. It really says something that she cries when she is wearing a corpse's face. We also see a bit of Dwight doubting his role as a leader after Debbie has left him. It is said that he was a soldier, and I am not sure whether or not this refers to his role in the war against Negan or perhaps a war prior to the outbreak. People in Alexandria are divided since Rick is sending a recon group rather than fighting right away. I was surprised to see Eugene defend him even after hearing that he let Lydia go. The even greater surprise is Rick telling Negan that he needs his help!

This is a review of the entire series.
Rick Grimes is a strong-willed deputy who missed the end of the world because he was in a coma for a month after getting shot in the line of duty. Shaken, starving and confused, Rick escapes the horror of the abandoned hospital only to be met with something far more terrible. Not only has the world ended, but the dead have learned to walk and to kill without mercy. After learning that his wife and son have fled to Atlanta from a single survivor and his son, Rick goes on a journey to reunite with his family and search for more survivors.
Rick quickly has to come to terms with the fact that the world has ended and only a select few survived. The dead have risen from their graves and they prey on the living. In a world where every minute feels like hours, where there's no such thing as law and order, where finding a small meal is a tremendous task, the walking dead are quite possibly the least threatening thing for the survivors to have on their breaking minds. Humanity is pushed to the brink of destruction, forcing them to embrace their cruel and primal nature in order to survive. Sometimes you have to be more concerned about who you let into your community so they don't kill you in your sleep and steal everything you once cared about. Rick has no choice but to abandon the ways of law and order that he's upheld as an officer for so long in order to protect the few loved ones he has left. He has to become a monster to protect his crew or risk being devoured by those who became more monstrous than him and even the walking dead.
Despite zombies running the world and having the series named after them, what really sets this series apart from the average zombie apocalypse tale is the focus on realism and the daily struggles, flaws and depth of the characters. There's plenty of badass zombie killing action, but the action often takes a back seat to give the characters plenty of times to share their extremely tragic yet endearing stories, grow through mutual suffering and learn to adapt to a world that has left them to die. Even after the world has ended, many people still can't see eye to eye. They turn on each other and kill each other when they should come together. Others form alliances in spite of their differences and try to rebuild over the corpse of everything that was lost. The daily human drama and conflict is more intense than any monster apocalypse could hope to be.
We watch Rick struggle to balance his old moral code with the many necessary evils he has to commit in order to survive and make the world a better place for the ones he holds close. We watch people like Glen, Dale and Maggie attempt to find love in spite of having every reason to be filled with fear, hate and self-loathing. Characters like Michonne have to learn how to forgive themselves and convince themselves they deserve to be loved despite all the blood on their hands. We watch the weak like Carl and Andrea become strong and sometimes the strong become evil like The Governor. Even monsters like the wicked yet oddly lovable Negan are given the chance to find new ways of redeeming themselves by struggling alongside the other survivors that have all been changed by the horrors of the fallen world.
The pacing is extremely slow and I can understand why that may be a turnoff for a lot of people, but I eventually learned to enjoy watching the characters grow, overcome their trauma, find meaning in life and learn to love again. The characters are forced to do many terrible things to survive and it haunts them every waking moment. The ways they overcome these regrets is very realistic, human and hopeful. The slow pacing really gives the feeling that we're living beside these people. The way every tiny detail of their lives and who they are is explored makes them feel very real and believable.
When I first started reading the series, I wasn't expecting it to have such an uplifting ending. It seemed so bleak and nihilistic for a long time and things would go horribly wrong even when they seemed to be going so well, but the finale channels all the pain, suffering and betrayal of the previous volumes and tops it off with a very touching and inspiring finish. This was never a story about hopelessness. It's about learning to appreciate the little things, learning to forgive yourself and learning to move on even when it's hard. When everything seems lost there's always more to be found, even when we believe otherwise because we convince ourselves that we don't deserve to be happy ever again. Instead of dwelling on what was lost, strive to try and make things better than they were before.
I've never been a huge fan of zombie apocalypse stories, but The Walking Dead had enough heart and strong social commentary to make me stick by the characters until the end and I enjoyed every moment of their long trial.

Holy shit, Lydia's pulled a gun on Andrea and Carl! Andrea better hurry the hell up and get that gun away from Lydia, before the girl shoots her or Carl. I like that Andrea's calm and all, but she shouldn't be ordering the girl with the gun in her hands, around.
Oh crap, now Andrea's gone and pulled a gun on Lydia. I'm pretty sure this isn't going to end well for anyone. I hope that no accidents happen. Aww, crap. Now Carl's got a gun out, too.
I like that Carl threatened to shoot Lydia in the arm if she didn't get her gun off of Andrea. I'm glad that Carl and Andrea and so close. I also like that he's trying to reassure Lydia that neither of them want to hurt her.
It's a good thing that Andrea put her gun away, and explained why the people of Alexandria were acting the way that they were. Although, you'd think that Lydia would understand why they're pissed off.
Her people killed THEIR people and she's the closest target they have to get back at Alpha and the Whisperers. I don't want any of the people at Alexandria to kill her, but I can understand why they'd take out their anger on her.
Also, all of this talking that Andrea, Carl, and Lydia are doing, is stupid. They need to keep an eye on their surroundings and watch out for the damn zombies. They should stop talking and worry about that shit later. They're out in the open and possible danger lurks around every corner.
I don't feel sorry for Alpha one bit. She can be an effective leader without going around acting like a psycho. Also, I'm not surprised that she pulled a crazy stunt by killing the guy who asked why she was crying.
The guy that Alpha killed, the one who saw her cry, he looks like Rick in the panel when he's lying on his side after she slits his throat. I also don't like that she lied to the other guy about why she killed the one who saw her cry.
I don't know what Dwight and the guy he's talking to, mean. Also, I think Dwight just needs to get over Sherry/Debbie leaving him and do what needs to be done. There will be other woman, I'm sure.
I'm glad that Rick, Jesus, Michonne, Maggie and the other two, told everyone what the plans are for now. That they're not just sitting around doing nothing. That they're going to organize a patrol along to border to make sure the Whisperers don't invade again.
I also like that they're going to try and get some intel on the Whisperers. I doubt very much that it's going to work, but they at least have to try. They don't know very much about the Whisperers.
I don't like that Eugene and those two men were already causing problems. Rick and Maggie need to get on top of that, and shut it down before the whole room is full of people wanting to go out and attack the Whisperers.
The guy that keep questioning and challenging Rick, needs to shut the fuck up. He has NO idea what he's talking about and the only thing that's going to happen, is that they'll get their people killed.
Oh, wow. I've never seen Jesus get so angry. And then damn, a riot broke out and everyone was hitting someone. I'm with Rick, holy shit, people! Calm the hell down and then figure out what to do.
I'm glad that Jesus was there for Maggie. And I'm also glad that Rick pulled out a gun and shot into the air to get everyone to stop fighting and to get their attention. Oh man, Rick said that the next person to throw a punch, he was going to kill.

While one fire is put out there another one burns brightly in Alexandria as people demanding action against Whisperers fight among each other and broken Rick seeks help from an unlikely source. It's CRAZY GOOD. It's no wonder The Walking Dead is a legendary series, it truly deserves all the praise it can get. I love The Walking Dead and it's style. It's wonderful and I love the journey taken with Rick and the group as they roam the wasteland in search of life and stability.
I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I can. I Love comics to bit, may comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.

Oh man Oh man!
That would be 3 stars I swear, if not for the last page, and if it's not what it promises to be and turns out that Rick's backing off of that last page sequence, then I'll rate the next issue -1 star. But DAMN that was NICE.. and unexpected?!
So our people are trying to figure out what to do with the Whisperers, and Rick has a plan but most of the people doesn't like that plan cuz the whisperers killed their loved ones and whatnot, and they just want to march over there and kill everyone, so there's a fight going on between everyone really.. that was nice. Well, nice for me, the reader, not nice for the group.
Woah, I said too much, I'll hide it for spoilers I guess..
Anyway, good issue. Off to the next one!

Seems like a whole lot of nothing but shouting and fighting going on in Alexandria at the moment. Ugh.
But I liked the bit with Alpha. It's good to see her show some weakness, and be totally baffled by the emotions she feels because she misses her daughter. At least she's still sorta human. LOL. Though the way she deals with the poor person who finds her crying. Yikes! :/
I can't believe who Rick is turning to for help...
If it wasn't for Alpha and that ending, I probably would have given this one a 3-star rating as well.

Great issue, Can't wait for next month.
Also, this was the first time I was near a comic book store just after new comic book day so I got my hands on a physical copy instead of my usual digital copy. So it was the first time I ever read the readers letters and there was a massive spoiler. Wish I hadn't! If it's true, all I can say is no!

I love how Carl is becoming more and more his own man, and how this situation is testing the perception of Rick as a leader. Things are building to events that will make everyone (who survives) that much stronger...

Interesting what fear and the unknown can do to a once peaceful, quiet and united community. This issue is a reminder of how quickly humans can turn on one another. Desperate for revenge, closure and some sort of consolation.

Alpha is mourning her child, but she's ruthless. The folks @ Hilltop are as ruthless and want retribution. When people are scared they do stupid things.
