Der Reiseführer Griechenland von DK hat einen Versionsupdate bekommen, jetzt gibt es da eine extra Athenkarte zum Rausnehmen. Ich fand das neue Buch ansprechend durch seine guten Bilder und die Einteilung, auch mochte ich die Zeitlinien, Götterübersicht, die Themenbeiträge (z.B. griech. Essen) und das Format. Allerdings hätte ich gerne noch mehr archäologische Hintergründe gehabt, bißchen mehr Tiefgang.

Colour photos supplement a tightly organized by area travel guide. Nice to see a section on northern Greece. Information on destinations is supplemented with just the right amount of historical context. Geared to the novice traveller, but experienced trekkers will also appreciate the format. The background on destinations such as Mycenae, Corinth, Epidavros is accurate and comprehensive without being wordy. Maps and diagrams are detailed and easy to read. As with the juvenile DK books, this edition has a great combination of photos, histories, maps, and "must sees". Check out the back section for essential tips.

Nice overview and good place to start reading list for trip to Greece. Beautiful photographs as well as maps of region, country, areas, cities, streets. Plus, a handy phrasebook of just a few pages in the back.

While I read this book, I listened to episodes 1-26 of Paul Vincent's 2013 podcast series The Myths and History of Greece and Rome. Hearing about the gods and heroes and their travels and looking at the maps and reading about the places made for a nice combination. Here's a link:

only reason I gave it 4 stars, it this was an earlier edition and so the book is dated, but that isn't the fault of the book, the library. Good guide nevertheless. I rely on these books as good travel sources.

This book is about the attributes and traditions on people who reside in Greece. With in the pages of the book, it talked about the food and drinks that are part of of their culture, the scenery, the language, the clothing, monumental buildings of Greece. The book is great for a child to read because there are colorful pictures and enough words for them to keep their focus.

I did liked this book for young readers because I believe its good for them to know the basics of living and the culture for others around the world. The book had some interesting information that could influence children to maybe visit Greece in their future

I skimmed this book before we went to Greece and it really helped me determine which sites were "must sees". I meant to read the guide in depth on the flight to Athens, but for some reason this just didn't happen. While in Greece I got into the habit of reading about sites *after* we'd seen them, sort of like a recap at the end of each day, or when I woke up the next morning. This was really nice, it cemented everything I'd seen and helped me put the experience into a broader perspective.
