Roberta Grimes spent decades studying nearly 200 years of afterlife evidence and forming a detailed picture of what happens at and after death. She then discovered that two thousand years ago Jesus told us things about God, reality, death, the afterlife, human nature, and the nature of reality that perfectly match the afterlife evidence in even small details. She outlines many of these correspondences in appendices to her books The Fun of Dying (2010, 2014) and The Fun of Staying in Touch (2014).In Liberating Jesus Roberta offers compelling evidence that the earliest Christians misunderstood the meaning and the message of Jesus. She demonstrates that all the correspondences between the Gospels and the afterlife evidence amount to nothing less than a new revelation from God. And she shows us that once we put aside the magic-thinking notion that the whole Christian Bible must be the Inspired Word of God just because the earliest Christians said it was, we at last free Jesus to bring to humankind the messages directly from God that long ago were His true life's purpose. His promise remains as fresh today as it was two thousand years ago, and now it is confirmed by the afterlife if we will live according to the teachings of Jesus, we can create the Kingdom of God on earth.
Roberta Grimes is a business attorney who had two experiences of light in childhood. She majored in religion at Smith College, and she spent decades studying afterlife evidence, quantum physics, and consciousness theories in order to understand the fundamentally spiritual nature of reality. She uses fiction to explore human nature and the ways in which spirituality affects our lives.
Raised Catholic, I started having serious issues with my religion when I hit my teens. I never lost my faith in God or Christ, but I couldn't accept what I had been taught. Over the past 45 years I've gone back to Catholicism and left again several times. I've also looked into other religions like Buddhism and Wicca, but my faith in Christ kept me looking for Him. A real crisis has begun since last year as all the Christians i know seemed to be sprouting more and more about sin and less and less about love. When my son died in February everything collapsed for me, including my faith, my certainty that God is. Over the past 2 months I've been reading books by mediums that seem to give the same picture of the afterlife. Some of what they wrote seemed very consistent with what I thought I was reading in the Gospels, but did not nice with what my religion taught me. Then I picked this book up and everything came together.
Liberating Jesus is going to anger those who think their version of Christianity is the right one. I recommend they read it anyway, with the hope that the seed of love is planted. For those who have struggled as I have, Roberts Grimes gives us voice to the confusion and questions we hold deep inside but were afraid to look at too closely. Letting go of the final tether that holds me to religion is going to be hard, but now I know that atheism\agnostism are not my only choices.
Jesus is teaching us all over again that all the laws and commandments are based on loving God, each other, and ourselves. My favorite passage of this book is about the person who would anonymously do something good for someone every day. In the afterlife, this person was considered a hero. They gave parades and held parties to celebrate what this person did. WOWSA. I think loving those who do bad things and seeing the Divine in them will take some getting used to. This book validates everything that I have learned in this life. It also explains why Jesus had me leave religion before working with Him. Now I get it! Thank you Roberta for this book!
Being raised in the Catholic Church, I can't just turn my back on the concept of Jesus and feel whole. I've always struggled with this. Roberta Grimes explains why traditions of the 'vengeful and jealous god' remain intertwined with the loving messages from Jesus in the New Testament, particularly the Gospels. When I read some of this information about what Jesus really said v. language inserted to make Jesus' words conform to ideological interests, it almost felt like I was remembering it. A strange but comforting feeling.
You have perfectly explained the very dilemma which I was facing after studying NDEs, quantum mechanics, the Bible, and especially the Gospel. I felt alone in my interpretation of those pieces put together. Now I don't. It is just about love as Jesus taught. Thank you. I love you.
This book has profoundly changed my perception of Christianity and my own walk. After reading this beautiful book I have hope for the future of mankind and in changing my own perception of The Trinity. Thank You Roberta for having the courage to heed the call and for sharing it with the world, I feel I need to share it with everyone I know.
WOW! That’s the first thought that comes immediately upon completing Liberating Jesus, the most recent work from author Roberta Grimes. In what could be considered an edition of A Course In Miracles for Dummies, the author carries us on a journey through a paradigm shift in how to relate to and comprehend the true teachings of humanity’s greatest Teacher.
Covering topics from the nature of the Afterlife to the critical importance of learning the truly deep meaning of Forgiveness, the mind of the reader is captured by what for many will be a whole new way of thinking about and relating to the historical Jesus. For some, it will be necessary to set aside lifelong dogmatic religious indoctrination in order to fully appreciate the message conveyed in this well researched and long contemplated discourse on how the human ego has both willingly and unwillingly corrupted the true message of the Gospels.
For those whose spiritual development is stymied by the “fear doctrine” that underlies many of the fundamental beliefs taught by most, if not all, of the world’s organized religions, Liberating Jesus comes as a welcomed release from the confines of centuries old dogma. In language anyone can understand, the reader is challenged to open the mind, set aside preconceived notions and allow for the probability that the teachings of Jesus are far, far more than what most of us have been led to believe.
Anyone with an interest in the nature of the Afterlife will find, within the pages of Liberating Jesus, a refined and eloquent explanation of the importance of Love and Forgiveness as each influence our experience as we complete the transition to life in the next world. The lessons expressed throughout this work are well grounded in historical facts and logical conclusions based on the available evidence. One would be hard pressed to find a more clear and understandable recitation of what the historical Jesus actually taught those who would listen during His short ministry upon the face of the Earth.
Although organized religion is brought into question, there is no attempt to discredit or diminish the critically important message the Son of God shared with the thousands of people who were witness to the greatest Love Story ever told. Liberating Jesus is not only about overcoming the restrictive interpretation organized religion has incorporated into two millennia of entrenched dogma heavily influenced by the human ego, it is also about liberating ourselves so that we can fully enjoy the indescribable happiness that awaits us all immediately upon shedding the physical body that serves as more of a prison than as an accurate manifestation of who and what we all really are.
