Easy For Keeps

Rate this book
Adam Turner loves women. All women. Every shape and size, regardless of hair or eye color, religion or race, he simply enjoys them all. Meeting more than his fair share as the manager and head bartender of The Odyssey, a hot spot in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter, Adam’s comfortable with his lifestyle, and sees no reason to change it. A wife and kids, plus the white picket fence are not in the cards for this confirmed bachelor. Until a beautiful woman, and her sweet princess, literally knock him on his ass.

Sarah Cox has just moved to New Orleans, having accepted a position as a social worker specializing in at-risk women and children. It’s a demanding, sometimes dangerous job, but Sarah is no shy wallflower. She can handle just about anything that comes at her, even the attentions of one sexy Adam Turner. Just because he’s charmed her daughter, making her think of magical kingdoms with happily ever after, doesn’t mean that Sarah believes in fairy tales. But the more time she spends with the enchanting man, the more he begins to sway her into believing in forever.

Even so, when Sarah’s job becomes more dangerous than any of them bargained for, will she be ripped from Adam’s life forever?

Holy cuteness, Batman! This book had it all; the adorable little girl, the smoldering heat between her mom and the hot bartender, and the bit of suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat. The relationship that Sarah's daughter had with Adam, though, that was everything this book needed. It took it from a sweet common romance, to a fantastic story that melted my ovaries.

Adam is the bartender that we met in Easy Melody that now co-owns The Odyssey with Callie. He's your typical hot guy bartender, sleeping with the women that throw themselves at him and never wanting to settle down. Then he meets Sarah and her princess little girl, and things change. He starts to feel things he never thought he would. Are these emotions scary? Hell yes! Does he care? No, Sarah is his - that's all he cares about.

For such a short book, this sure did have a lot of things going on. I liked that Kristen Proby was able to fit so many different scenes within the story that had me impatiently waiting for the end to come I was just so anxious to get finished so I knew what was going to happen with Sarah and Adam. From the beginning I knew something was going to happen, but didn't know exactly what it was, so I was hanging on to every word, anticipating what was to come.

Bottom line, this was the perfect read to enjoy in one sitting. The relationship was fast paced and easy, but there wasn't anything that was missed because of the shortness of the story. I really liked learning more about Adam, but now i'm even more impatient for the next Boudreaux series book.

For those of you that, like me, read all of Kristen Proby’s books, or in particular, the Boudreaux series, we know Adam as being Callie’s (Easy Melody, book 3) partner and bartender on Odyssey, their popular bar on New Orleans’s French Quarter.
He is the typical playboy bartender, and makes no apologies for it. The only permanent attachment he sees in his life is the bar, where he worked most of his life and always loved. Although he professes that he isn’t a ‘settling down’ kind of guy, lately he hasn’t been enjoying, or even taking part on the lifestyle. Maybe he is unsubconsciously waiting for something special to come his way… Or a certain couple of damsels in distress to cross his path…
Sarah has been widowed for more than three years, and has been completely dedicated to her five year old daughter Hailey and her job as a social worker.
When the sexy as hell Adam unexpectedly comes to her aid more than once, she can’t deny the deep attraction between them. Given that and his no-strings vibe, she decides – with a little push from a friend – that maybe he is the perfect man to get back on the dating world, even if it’s only for one night.

“This is the first date—aside from one bad one that doesn’t count—that I’ve been on. Frankly, life goes on, Adam. Kurt would tell me the same thing. Life goes on, and we have to live it.

Adam couldn’t be happier with that decision, but one night just isn’t enough for either of them. So, as day by day passes, their relationship evolves, as obviously so do their feelings, and although that scares both of them, they are all in. Specially when there is a little girl just as emotional involved as them.

I ADORE a single parent trope, specially a single mother, and this one was no exception. I just can resist seeing a big hot man, previous player, fall hard and fast for the mother as much as for the daughter, and Adam and Hailey’s interactions are one of the most memorable things in this tale, absolutely guaranteed to melt even the iciest of hearts. Hailey showed us Adam’s swoon-worthiness to a whole new level… Sigh…
Seeing how incredibly sweet they are together, Sarah didn’t stand a chance of not falling in love, and neither have we!

Adam and Sarah were incredible together. Sarah awakened his true alpha nature, first through his protective side, immediately upon meeting, and then, almost instantly after they start dating, his dominant and possessive instincts take over where she is concerned, and let me tell you, it was beyond HOT! Their sizzling sex scenes were just as enticing as their sweet and caring moments, and I couldn’t get enough! They that delightfully addictive!

I completely devoured and adored this charming story, and although short – the only down point, in my opinion, because it leaves us wanting even more – true to the 1001 Dark Nights, the amount of fantastic moments isn’t in any way lacking. This little read indeed packs a punch. Kristen Proby has, yet again and true to her writing style, created an amazingly sweet, captivating and ultra sexy book. Easy for Keeps is the perfect appetizer to tease and stimulate our appetite for the upcoming book in the series, Easy Kisses.

“I love you, Sarah.”
“Wow. These drugs are good. I just dreamed that you said you love me.”
I grin again and kiss her cheek. “I did. I love you so much. For those few moments that I thought I might lose you…it was agony, Sarah. I didn’t want another minute to go by without telling you that I love you because I realize how short life can be, and we shouldn’t waste it.”
“This is a very serious conversation for someone on hard narcotics,” she says, but she cups my face in her hands and looks deeply into my eyes. “But I love you too, handsome. I love you so much that it hurts, and let me tell you, that’s a lot.”

"4 Belle stars"

"You're so fucking sexy. You make me crazy."

This book was pretty great and I enjoyed it very very MUCH. Because let's face it's Kristen Proby who is amazing! I like her books and she writes really H.O.T scenes that will melt your panties and make you tingle in some unknown parts of your body. What else do you need...???
description

"I want to take home and strip the clothes off your sexy-as-fuck body and lose myself in you. I want to fuck you, over and over, until you can't walk for a week, and then I want to fuck you some more."

description

I really enjoyed Adam and Sarah. They were perfect for each other, their chemistry was good and they were amazing between the sheets. Steamy, rough, sexy and all kind of things that make it worth the waiting....

"You make me hard, Sarah. You're so fucking sexy,
I can't wait to bury my face in your pussy and make you scream."

I loved Adam, I mean I knew that from "Easy Melody" but here I couldn't get enough of him being all hot, sweet, funny and possessive. He was amazing with Sarah's daughter Hailey who by the way was obsessed with Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Under other circumstances he would have been running the other way but with Hailey he had a soft spot *making me swoon and sign all then time*.

"Adam!"-Hailey
"Hello there. I'm looking for a miss Hailey Cox."-Adam
"That's me!"
"Are you sure? Because the little girl I'm looking for
always wears a Belle dress."
"Not on a date night. Date night is special."

*And he brought her a pink rose for date night!*

description
See what I mean? Let's swoon all together!

"You're beautiful. You smell fantastic.
And you taste like heaven. But I'm the only one who gets
to know any of that."

This was a perfect short story to read in one sitting. I loved Adam and Sarah and Hailey together. Sarah was a great mom and woman, Adam saw that, that's why he couldn't get enough of her and tried to pursue something more...And in the end they got their HEA!

You.Are.Mine. This is mine. Do you hear me?"

Enjoy! xxx

As a fan of Kristen Proby, I love reading her stories since they are always so sweet, sexy, and full of heart. And in her newest installment to the Boudreaux Series, Ms. Proby once again reminded me why the south is known for it’s Southern charm in Easy For Keeps.

In this quick, sweet and charming novella, Ms. Proby transforms a bonafide playboy to a committed man. And if you have been following my reviews, then you are all aware that I am sucker for a playboy getting knock off his game and falling for the one. And in Easy For Keeps, Ms. Proby introduces readers to Adam Turner, a bar owner who meets a young curvy single mom who instantly makes Adam fall hard. And I mean fall hard for Sarah Cox and her adorable sweet daughter. So can Adam give up his playboy ways and settle down?

So if you are looking for a romance that was sweet, sexy and charming, then look no further than Easy For Keeps because trust me when I say you will definitely want to keep Adam.

I enjoyed this one. It was SUPER short, and VERY insta-love. Both characters were likable, and the kid was adorable.

I could have done without the tip toe through Adam's past sexcapades at the beginning of the book. I don't know why authors do this? You can tell me he is a man-whore. I don't mind a good man-whore, but I don't need details and OW that he can't remember fucking in my face right at the start of the book. It takes away from the H/h's story.

Now that being said, I still like Adam a lot since he states he is tired of whoring around and all that, and he is all in with Sarah from the start. Still, this would have been a 5 star read for me if the past sexcapades had been a little less in your face.

Overall though, I love this series and this author.

We met Adam the sexy bartender in Easy Melody this is his time to meet the woman of his dreams plus a little lady.

Sarah is a single mum to five year old Hailey and they are having a bad morning and Adam comes to her rescue and is a Good Samaritan. There is instant chemistry between them and Sarah takes a chance and has a one night stand with Adam.

One night is not enough for either of them so they start dating spending time as a couple and as a trio with little Hailey who is so adorable

This is a cute, fun, hot quick read, it has everything you expect from Kristen Proby. My only complaint it was to short for my liking that's why it's a 4* for me.

3.5 Sweet and sexy stars

Adam Turner was one of the few interesting things about Easy Melody. He’s a total manwhore, prefers his sex without strings and makes sure all the women knows it. So of course I wanted to know who the woman was going to be that makes him change his ways… ;-)

Sarah Cox has just moved to New Orleans. It’s been three years since her husband died, and it’s just her and her daughter against the world. She loves her work as a social worker, it can be dangerous but it’s also very fulfilling and Sarah is tough enough to handle any situation and person. Except for the sexy Adam, who makes her dormant libido come to life and who charms both her and her daughter.

I really enjoyed the romance between Adam and Sarah, their sweet and sexy moments. And seeing Adam become serious about a woman for this first time in his life was awesome!!

This novella was just perfect for this series and I enjoyed it from start to finish. Charley’s book is next and I can’t wait to read it. I love this series and I can’t recommend it enough. If you love sweet and sexy romances with low levels of angst, this series is for you.

Don't hurt me, but I've NEVER read any of the Boudreaux Series by Kristen Proby! I know! It's ridiculous! I really have no good excuse either. I mean, I LOVE her writing style so damn much! I think completely devouring EASY FOR KEEPS has given me the motivation to get my ass in gear and start the series. There is no more putting it off. Simply put...I NEED MORE!

Oh Adam and Sarah, how I love thee...seriously! These two were EVERYTHING together! Their smoldering hot chemistry was the main driver of why I finished this book in an hour. Another factor? OMG, it was just the SWEETNESS of it all! Sarah's baby girl? Ugh! She was completely and utterly precious! Hailey was five going on thirty and she was definitely her mother's daughter. So smart and so confident...every time her dialogue popped up, I fell in love...

easy for keeps

Sarah Cox has a tough and dangerous job, and I loved the fact that after only 5 minutes with Adam, he became instantly protective of Sarah and her daughter. Sarah is no damsel in distress, but after losing her husband 3 years ago, and being a single mom, it was about time that someone took care of her for once. Even though Adam has no intentions of being in a relationship, there is something about the fierce momma that has his heart beating quicker than normal. One night turns to two. Two turns to three, and so on and so forth. As days go by, Sarah and her daughter pull Adam deeper under their spell. And after everything he thought he never wanted could be taken away from him in an instant, well, let's just say, he may be singing a different tune.

EASY FOR KEEPS was a quick and stunning read, full of sexy and sweet! If you aren't familiar with Proby's work, believe me, after consuming this HOT little read, you will become a fan for life!

4 _ "I'm not going anywhere..." Stars!

Enjoyable, albeit expensive (if you take into account the page count) addition to the series. I liked Adam in Easy Melody so it was good too read his happily ever after. Slight continuity blip with this as well, and he introduced Sarah in the previous book as his girlfriend.

I think this one had the legs to be longer to be honest, but still an enjoyable couple of hours reading.

3.5 stars!

Another short, sweet and sexy read from Kristen Proby’s Boudreaux series, this time giving us the story of Adam – best friend and business partner of Callie from Easy Melody.

Adam is part-owner of The Odyssey, a popular bar in the French Quarter, and he enjoys every moment of his single lifestyle – doing what he wants, when he wants, and with no desire to change anything. And then Sarah and her adorable 6-year-old daughter fall into his life, and he finds himself unable to stay away.

Sarah is a strong, proud and sensible single mother who is new to New Orleans, and is busy building a life for her and her daughter, Hailey, following the death of her husband. After a difficult childhood she has become a Social Worker and works tirelessly to make a better life for women and children at risk, but her daughter is her life and she hasn’t had time for anything else. Until she meets Adam.

This is a really sweet romance. It’s easy and natural with very little drama – just two people with great chemistry getting to know each other and falling for each other. And of course there’s a whole lot of hotness… SO much hotness! Adam is a dirty talker, and his and Sarah’s physical connection is intense and explored thoroughly!

“I want to take you home and strip the clothes off your sexy-as-fuck body and lose myself in you. I want to fuck you, over and over, until you can’t walk for a week, and then I want to fuck you some more.”

But along with all of that steam there is so much cuteness with little Hailey very much involved in the story. The little girl and her obsession with all things princesses and magic is an absolute delight, and her relationship with Adam is heart-meltingly beautiful.

Like all of Kristen Proby’s love stories, the relationship is functional, emotional, sweet, sexy and fun. There is some drama but it comes from outside of the relationship and provides a bit of excitement. This is a really quick read that is sweet, hot and easy, and I really enjoyed Adam and Sarah’s story.

3.5 stars.

There is nothing as fun as watching a carefree playboy meet the one woman who makes him decide to give up his man-whoring habits. EASY FOR KEEPS is a great addition to the series because it contains the sweetness, humor and sexy times that we've come to expect from Ms. Proby, but what I enjoy most about Ms. Proby's books is the low angst level.

Adam Turner is an equal opportunity lover of women and very unapologetic about it, but even he draws the line at getting involved with a single mother and her adorable little girl. But somehow, after playing the role of knight in shining armor to them, he can't seem to stay away from Sarah Cox and her daughter.

New Orleans is a fresh start for Sarah, away from the painful memories of the loss of her husband and a new relationship is certainly not part of her plan, but Adam is too tempting to resist and is exactly what she needs.

This book is like dynamite, a lot of power in a tiny package and I'm not ashamed to say that I wish there was more to it. Adam and Sarah had really great chemistry in and out of the bedroom and an easy relationship, which I enjoyed. Sarah was strong, smart and independent and with the dangers inherent in her job, she wasn't taking any chances, but I also love that she was open and willing to get involved again, without a lot of angst and drama. Adam was easygoing but possessive and protective but my favorite thing about him was his willingness to communicate easily with Sarah.

This was a very enjoyable and fast read, perfect for a lazy day.

Slick's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Author Kristen Proby offers up another smart, sexy and charming book in her 1001 Dark Nights Boudreaux novella, Easy for Keeps. At first I was a little put off by the heroine, but after learning her history it was easy to see that she was one tough, capable and self sufficient woman and she felt a man in her life wasn't a necessity. So big surprise when a sexy Good Samaritan turns this single mom's head. I loved their banter, their wickedly sexy times and everything in between.

New to New Orleans and her job Sarah Cox finds herself in a bind and must rely on Adam Spencer one morning to get her and her young daughter out of a bind. A little over three years since her husband died, Sarah is surprised to find she's attracted to Adam, but Adam has no problems letting his interest be known and to top it off he is instantly enthralled by her 5 year old daughter.

I loved the chemistry that surrounded these two almost immediately despite Sarah trying to deny it or not believing that Adam could be interested in her. Adam was a joy; I loved that he could be cool, calm and charming one minute and go all growly alpha man the next, but even then he was so charismatic. I always appreciate when couples can communicate easily from the start and can share their backgrounds, their hopes, fears and wishes with one another. The ease at which the accepted each other fully made their quick and intense romance easy to believe.

A bit of suspense, a whole lot of sexy good times and quite a few sweet moments made Easy for Keeps very easy to love.

I absolutely adore the easy, charming way that Kristen Proby brings readers into her stories and shares her characters and her plot lines – components that do more than paint romantic images – they shed light on life lessons and teach the importance of family, of love, of the limitless strength people are capable of when life throws chaos into their life.

Easy For Keeps – it’s quite the contradictory title because keeping anything is far from easy, but it also indicates that even when people aren’t looking to belong to someone…don’t believe in happily ever after, the most necessary individuals merge into their lives and overshadow everything else, creating a bond that refuses to break regardless of the obstacles that must be overcome.

Adam and Sarah's story illustrates the idea that life is meant to be lived, and it should never be taken for granted because in the blink of an eye, everything can change. Adam is rocked to his core by Sarah’s honesty and positive thinking. And Sarah’s daughter, Hailey, wraps Adam around her little finger and proves that he is way more capable of loving someone and believing in forever than he had originally thought.

Easy For Keeps is a sweet and steamy novella that brings a Boudreaux series supporting character into the spotlight and gives him what readers have wanted since meeting him in Callie’s story – a woman that possesses every part of his soul and a family that he wants more than anything else.

Easy For Keeps was a pretty fun audio to listen to. I really liked getting to know Adam in this one. His friendship with Callie was cute but I really wanted to know more about Sarah. Luckily for me, myself, and I - he wanted to know her more too!

Adam and Sarah were adorable. They were so into each other which made me smile. Sarah, poor girl, has been in a dry spell. So when Adam comes in.. it's like the gates are finally opening and a tsunami might come (lol).

Then there's the small teeny tiny fact that Sarah has a kid.. but no biggie because Adam can't get enough of those two together. I feel like this book was jam-packed with so many goodies! I loved everything about this book and I haven't even listened to any of the books in the Boudreaux series #fail.

Overall, I found a new series to start lol.

This was a pretty good story. It was a bit short but I liked Adam and Sarah (and Hailey) and liked their story.

Sarah is a social worker that just moved to New Orleans for a new job and a change of scenery. Sarah grew up in Miami and married her high school sweetheart. Unfortunately, her sweetheart became a cop who got killed on the job and Sarah became a widow with a daughter, Hailey, to raise on her own.

Adam is the co-owner of a bar in New Orleans with his best friend, Callie (the heroine of book #3, Easy Melody). Adam is a good guy but has never believed in lasting love. Because of this, he's never planned to settle down, instead just sleeping with women he picks up for one-night-stands.

Adam is in a store to pick up something when he finds a lost young girl. He helps her find her mother, who ends up being Sarah. Sarah is rather brusque with Adam when they meet which makes it rather embarrassing for her when he ends up coming to their rescue a short time later when she has car problems. Something unexpected comes up as a result of their time together and it brings Sarah and Adam back together. Adam has been thinking about Sarah in the intervening time so he asks her out when they see each other again. Sarah accepts his invite for a date but think it'll just be a one-night-stand. Things don't turn out that way as they both realize that they want more and with some time, Sarah and Adam build a relationship and end the story starting a HEA together.

This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Sarah and thought she was a pretty good heroine. Hailey was a good child presence in the story but didn't take away from the relationship between Sarah and Adam. Adam was a surprisingly good hero considering his playboy tendencies before...but then I guess with the story being short, there wouldn't be a lot of time for Adam to be wishy washy about things. The story was a bit shorter than I may have liked but overall, it was a pretty enjoyable story so I'd recommend it. :)

Audiobook review

Story: 4 stars four-stars
Performance: 5 stars five-stars
Overall: 4,5 Stars four-half-stars

“Love can knock your door anytime!”

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. The story is awesome. This is the kind of romance I always want to read. The guy who thinks he doesn’t want a relationship, the girl who thinks she doesn’t have time for a relationship because she’s only focused on her family and her job, and then, they meet and all their priorities change. Amazing. I love the story and of course, the audiobook makes it all so much better <3

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love both Adam and Sarah, their romance is beautiful and sexy, but my favorite is Hailey. She’s such a great kid and I love how Kristen wrote her character and how Rachel read for her. Hailey is a wonderful child, sweet, smart, and funny. She’s a little kid with a hug attitude, I wonder how she’ll be when she grows up, Kristen should write a short novella about her as a teen, or even as a young adult, I’m sure it’ll be so much fun!!

What does Rachel Fulginiti and Sebastian York bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

This is my first audio with Rachel and I totally LOVE her voice. Her accent is PERFECT!! So as her inflexions and emotions put into the performance. She totally does it in the sex scenes!! I have a few audios narrated by her, I should get onto them, because she’s really talented. And Sebastian’s as amazing as always. His voice matches with the personality of Adam’s, all sexy and swoony. Besides, Sebastian does the dirty talkers even dirtier *wink*

Any additional comments?

All in all, Easy For Keeps is great. Too bad it’s too short because I would have love to read more about how their relationship got stronger but Kristen’s plotting was just perfect for it to be a novella and she added some drama in the end, making it more interesting. And I love the last chapter, it’s PERFECT!!

This is one of my favorites of the Boudreaux series so far --full length novels included! I really liked Adam when we met him in Easy Melody as Callie's best friend and the bartender at the Odyssey so I was hoping we'd get to see his love story since he was so anti-relationship. I love how Sarah and her daughter just come out of nowhere and he couldn't get enough. He was there and didn't freak out about commitment or anything and it was just natural and so cute. The social work aspect with Sarah's job was a great extra as well. I would've loved a full book about Adam & Sarah! <3

What a sweet novella...we meet Adam in an earlier book "Easy Melody" and I absolutely loved his character...he is a sexy bartender with an alpha personality that revs up the chemistry of his character...in this short story he meets Sarah a no nonsense single parent who knows how to take care of herself (my favorite quote is, "This single mom stuff is not for pansies.") and her 5 year old daughter Hailey (who is absolutely adorable; I cracked up as she spoke about her kindergarten boyfriend...too CUTE:)))))....and, of course, the playboy has finally met his match or should I say matches???...low angst and sexy as sin and sweet as cotton candy this novella stole my heart...great addition to this series!

“Sarah?” “Yes?” I say, coming out of my own stupor, mortified that he has this effect on me. “What can I do for you?” “That’s a loaded question,”

Sarah is living the life of a single mother. After losing her husband all she does is working and taking care of her daughter Hailey, dating isn’t anywhere her top priorities. When she meets Adam as a result of one of Hailey’s disappearing acts, the attractive man awakens feelings she has buried deep inside after the death of her husband. Adam is a workaholic and doesn’t do commitment, he makes sure the women he spends time with know this. Meeting Sarah opens his eyes, makes him think of more, not just one night.
“I should go home,” she murmurs against my chest and plants a kiss there. “Can you stay?” I ask, surprising the hell out of myself. I always avoid sleeping over, at all costs. It just muddies things up. But I don’t want her to go.”

From the moment Adam meets Sarah he knows she’s different, he can’t treat her like his normal choice of women. And to his surprise, he doesn’t even mind, he wants to get to know Sarah – and her daughter Hailey – better. Sarah tries to keep things between her and Adam casual, even feels a bit guilty towards her husband for moving on. But she can’t deny the attraction between Adam and herself, and gives into her feelings. Together Adam and Sarah are hot and sexy, put Hailey in the mix and they’re a sweet family who enjoy spending time together.

Like other books in ‘the Boudreaux series’, Easy For Keeps is a sweet and enjoyable read without angst-y situations and over-the-top drama. Yes, since this is a novella all happens at warp-speed, but the realistic thoughts and actions of the characters make the story more believable. I just wish this was a longer book, Adam and Sarah are a great couple, I would love to read more about them in future Boudreaux books.
“I swallow and look at her perfect lips, then into her amazing eyes. Why have I been such a stubborn ass? Why couldn’t I admit before how much I love her? God, I almost lost her. “I love you, Sarah.”

I’ve enjoyed reading Easy For Keeps, I give this novella 4 stars.

5 Stars!

When I pick up a book by Kristen Proby, I know I am in for perfection and the best ride that romance offers. I fell in love with this author a long time ago with the With Me In Seattle series and since then, I haven't looked back. This newest novella in the Boudreaux series by this author just reminds me why she is one of my very top favorite authors.

Easy for Keeps was the perfect blend of romance, steam, sweetness, and passion. This is one of those books that you can't read just once. Oh no, it will be added to your re-read pile before you even finish. Kristen Proby delivered a love story to her readers that was sexy, captivating, intriguing, and had a storyline that flowed from first words to the last.

This is Sarah and Adam's story. Adam isn't looking for love but when sexy and curvy Sarah and her sweet daughter enter his life, he can't deny that he wants them for himself. Their chemistry is off the charts. The sizzling sparks between them cannot be denied. Sometimes love presents itself when we least expect it but desperately need it in our lives.

I highly recommend this book.
