The desert waste is a harsh and desolate place where only the strongest can live.
Zan is an omega breeder, an invaluable asset to his pack if they are to continue surviving in this unforgiving land. He’s been protected and sheltered his entire life, kept hidden from the dangers that lurk amongst the dunes. Zan’s heart longs for freedom.
Ripfang is one of those dangers. He’s the alpha leader of the Red Moons, the most notorious wild pack of bandits known for terrorizing and raiding anyone who lets their guard down. Just his name can send shivers through the strongest alpha – and that’s the way he wants it. Sometimes to survive, it’s better to hide behind a mask than let people know the truth.
With the stars sparkling in the desert night sky the alpha and omega are guided together by fate, and their future is forever altered by the power that connects them.
Zan is an omega and valuable to his pack for his ability to breed. He's lived a sheltered life in the pack's camp, protected by alphas against raids by the Red Moon pack, led by the feared Ripfang. Zan can't help but fantasize about Ripfang, building him up in his mind as some ultra-alpha. When Zan's pack must leave their home to find new hunting grounds, they are vulnerable in the open desert, which is when the Red Moons launch an attack. Zan has been trained to defend himself, and he shifts and joins the fight, following Ripfang into the desert.
Zan quickly learns the desert is no place to be, and he is rescued by the very wolf he can't stop thinking about. Ripfang takes Zan to his personal hideout and tells him that his name is actually Kyrt. He then points out a sandstorm between them and Zan's pack. Now, Zan must stay with Kyrt until he can rejoin his pack, but as each day passes, he finds himself wanting to stay with the alpha of his dreams.
This was a novella, so there wasn't much character development. Zan came across as naive and impetuous, while Kyrt was stoic and more reserved. Since it's the first part of a series, there was no real resolution, unless you count the whole "we're mates" thing, complete with subsequent mating. That part, at least, was hot.
Very meh about this story. I'd give it a two, but the sex scene bumps it up to a three.
what a great start. The twist with Zan and Kyrt having traits of each other's nature was an awesome touch. Can't wait for more. I love Canis's work. I got this story free for an honest review.
I received a free copy of this story in exchange for an honest review This is the first time I have read a story by Canis Blackfang. Although I love shifter stories, and really enjoy mpreg stories, they do tend to get a little predictable. I was very surprised at Omega Captured. It started out very different from any I have read to date. And I was pleasantly surprised that the Omega wasn't just some sniffly, wimpy little thing who had to be protected at all cost. The Omega, Zan, not only could take care of himself, but could easily defend those around him as well as hunt! As the story unfolds Zan truly comes into his own. It's wonderful to see. They treat each other as equals and let me tell you, that's pretty rare. Kyrt ended up being a surprise as well. I love that he doesn't coddle the Omega, even though he's a true Alpha. I won't give any spoilers, but I think anyone would really enjoy reading this first story. Not a ton of sex, but a lot of character development. There were some errors, nothing to truly take away from the story, just some incorrect words here and there.
I was impressed with this short little story about an omega named, Zan, and a loner Wolf, who was also a bandit at times, named Kryt. I thought Zan was so cute because he was a strong omega. He felt imprisoned by his pack due to their constant protection. However, when Kryt and his bandits attack Zan's pack, Zan decides that he wants to fight too, unlike most omegas. He ends up with Kryt and realizes that he's much more than just a bandit. They have a phenomenal hunting bond and later they bond physically as well, which I thought was so precious. The story was executed well, and the pace didn't drag at all for me. SPOILER... When they were having sex, Zan shifted a little bit so Kryt could pull his tail. I thought that was so adorable, and unique from the books I've read so far. I'd like to read more from this author, definitely. :)
While reading this M/M Mpreg shifter short story (number 1 in a serial but could actually stand on its own as it is self contained) I though I was reading the joint output of two different authors: one proficient, able to build tension and giving interesting traits to his characters; another only interested in the usual nonsense of sex-starved omegas wanting to join the superior male alpha to feel innerly sated. The end result, despite a couple of interesting moments, is less than satisfying.
Zan is a sheltered rare male omega, with a desire for more then being a broadmare Seeing stranger he starts dreaming.. Kyrt follows the stars and raids Zan's family. Love follows and now we a future to see. Great writing. Looking forward to the next part the series I received a free copy of this story in exchange for an honest review
Omega Captured has a very different take on an Omega than any other book I have read that has Omegas in them. This Alpha and Omega treat each other more as equals in their relationship. The turns in this book made me smile and keep reading. I loved reading this book and would recommend it to others. I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
