Miranda Nading lives and works in the Pacific Northwest. She writes stories for readers who like their fiction raw, tense, and rooted in survival. Best known for the Extinction Series, she weaves together her love of science, resilience, and humanity pushed to the edge.

Before dedicating herself to storytelling, Miranda served in the military and worked in law enforcement, later adding scuba diving and aviation to her list of adventures. Combined with her Arkansas upbringing and deep connection to the land, these experiences give her novels a gritty realism that fans return to again and again.

When she isn’t writing, Miranda enjoys old homestead crafts, gardening, and canning the fruits of her labor — all with a strong cup of coffee close at hand.

Kindle Unlimited but got it through free through one of my here's the book we hope you review it giveaways. The book could have been fleshed out a bit better, not jumped around so much, not ended on a more or less major cliffhanger, and considering the current political climate could have lived up better to general expectations including more realistic characters/actions..I personally found it confusing and causing my mind to wander {and I'm a natural speed reader so not good} with the alternate flips of too much/too little detail and points of view.

It took me a few chapters to get into the book, but once I did I was hooked. Don't give up on the story because it will be worth your time if you stick with it.

There are four different story-lines that are happening simultaneously-they are all related-and the reader is thrown into the middle of them without a lot of build up. That is the only thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars. After I figured out what was happening, oh man, it was on. I couldn't put the book down.

The political aspects were like reading a blue print for what could happen in our world today. Emotionally, I was torn in many different directions. One second I'm hopping mad and the next I'm desperately hoping things will turn around for the protagonist. Heck, I'm hoping things turn around for the entire world.

Warning for those who don't like cliff hangers...there's a BIG one at the end of this first book in the series. I'll be looking for the next one to find out what happens.

Seldom do I offer real criticisms of any book I read. Mostly I have in mind when I start a book that five stars is the norm. But this book has two major problems that I identified right away. They are: the lack of a clear point of view and an ending that leaves this story unable to stand alone by itself. Having said that I had to give the story four stars and I really liked the book because it is such a compelling tale. I kept thinking as I went along through the book that it was likely to have a sequel. And it does. And I am happy to know that to be true and will definitely read the sequel. I enjoyed the characters in this book even though they were not very well fleshed out. Melanie or Mel, left her husband and her three month old daughter, in order to save their lives. Why? Still unknown even after the end of the story. The title emphasizes the creation of a device that could end all mankind. But it is not the device which will do so, at least not in this book. In this book it is climate change and the machinations of dictatorial people which will bring about Armageddon if indeed our heroes, including Mel, do not stop the principal "satan" of their time named Maitland. I guess it would not be good to go further in respect to my review because it would give away too much of the book. Genesis is well worth reading but don't expect it to end in a way that leaves you satisfied and willing to walk away from the series. A good book. Not a great book.
