"The Survivalist may be the best post-apocalyptic series out there ," raves Steve Erwood of the Disaster Preparedness Blog . "In addition to a steady stream of gunfights with zombie-like mutants, roadway bandits, and opportunistic warlords, the books teach dozens of useful survival tricks . Learn to hotwire cars, construct homemade booby traps, build garbage-powered generators, and retrieve fuel from abandoned gas pumps."

Bryan Foster, author of The Prepper's Handbook , says "It's rare to find books this entertaining that are so well researched." Nicholas Sansbury Smith, author of Extinction Horizon , adds "The Survivalist books are incredibly addictive . They create a cool western vibe not seen since Louis L'Amour's timeless classics."

Last Stand is the seventh book in a series described as " a cross between Justified and The Walking Dead ." Justice is finally at hand. Deputy Marshal Mason Raines is closing in on General Hood and his murderous Black Dogs. To protect President Glass, he must first find a way through The Greenbrier bunker's blast doors, a feat that will require confronting an unspeakable creature inhabiting the sewers. Terribly outnumbered, Mason, Bowie, Leila, and three young cadets must call upon every bit of skill and courage to make one valiant last stand.

Meanwhile, Tanner and Samantha embark on a far less noble mission. Not only must they kill President Pike, they must also dismantle his powerful empire. To do so, they find themselves aligning with an army of hideous, and often unpredictable, survivors. Only after unleashing the violent horde, do they begin to realize that their hasty alliance might result in the collapse of the entire federal government.

Events have made me who I am, neither a hardcore survivalist nor an all-trusting soul. I am a Boy Scout in the truest sense of the word—dedicated to family, country, and good citizenship. As you may already know, an enabling element of those ideals is being prepared.

It took the horrific events of 9/11 to wake me from my routine complacency. In one single moment, I came to realize that our world is not as safe as we would all like to believe. We have no guarantee of safety in this world. Disasters occur on an almost daily basis all around the globe. Major events in recent years have included the devastating tsunamis striking Japan and the coast of Sumatra, the rash of tornadoes that swept across the U.S. in 2011, Hurricane Katrina, the deadly earthquake in Haiti, and the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico to name just a few.

I believe with all my heart that we have a duty to prepare our families for the dangers they face. I started my preparation by reading nearly every disaster preparedness book currently available. If you check Amazon, you will see that I am the #1 reviewer for many of these books. Even with all the material out there, I could not find a single book that offered a complete, well-reasoned approach to practical preparedness. As a NASA engineer, I took up the challenge by conducting very careful research – disecting fact from folklore. Three years and many thousands of dollars later, I have finally released a handbook that offers well-researched advice that can be put into practice in the real world by normal families.

I wrote this handbook for my own family, but I would be honored to share it with yours. If you are not fully satisfied with the Handbook to Practical Disaster Preparedness for the Family, send it back, and I’ll refund your money, no questions asked.

A GRAND END TO THE SEVENTH BOOK AND A NEW BEGINNING IT IS...

Hello, this set of seven books is one of my favorites. The writing is excellent and you can see the story in your head. Normal people, really good people, really bad people and the infected are all pressed together against the evil or crazy in this scenario. Damn fine stuff. Thanks.

Wow

I've totally enjoyed this collection! It's nice to read well put together books especially in this genre. This book wraps up the stories we've followed this far. Personally I've loved Tanner and Samantha. Of course Bowie is the overwhelming star!
If you haven't read this series I highly recommend you do so. This book in particular I read through with few breaks, it was the best.

One of my favorite series

And I am a hard reader to please
Worth the time and the money for each "part".
I still wish books were still books n that they were finished when I were done and at least 350-600 pages longs, but if I have to by installments at least this author writes something worth paying for.

Cleverly woven

With storyline resolving to a point and surprises lurking this is a great book in the series, but definitely to be read after the previous book rather than as a stand alone to get full enjoyment out of it.

One of the best doomsday series I ever read!

First I enjoy the subject matter dealing with issues of survival in a world on the brink of total disaster and the end of life as we know it. Bradley is an exceptional author. His characters are endearing each in their own way. I enjoyed how he captures examples of all the different types of examples of people in our world with all their psychological differences or beliefs. The first book I selected from a free offer to read and have purchased the rest of the books 7 books later. I'm talking back- to- back. This fact alone supports how intriguing Bradley's books are to pull readers in, not only for the enjoyment of the read but also picking up valuable information in the event we find ourselves in a survival situation. Ready for book#8.

Everything charges to the fore as Mason and Leila head off to assist Presdient Glass while Tanner and Samantha head out to end the villainous President Pike.

Lots of action in this the last of the current series of this particular chapter of events. The action heats up in lots of ways and and two sets of heroes are almost in over their heads.

There are some ingenious methods used to deal with the challenges the characters face, especially for Tanner and Sam, and to a degree it starts to stretch believability, not so much because of what is done but for the timeframe that it is done in.

Also, it seems the proofreader chose to skip this book as there are a lot of missing words in sentences which become annoying after a while, surprising considering how well edited all the previous books were.

Great series

I have really enjoyed reading this series and getting to know Mason, Bowie, Tanner, and Sam. I think I'm going to hold off on the next part though and will probably rejoin the series at some point.

I recommend this series. Well written, entertaining and some tough characters. About a man made virus that ends the world as we know it. Kind of like now...

*Note: This review was based upon a complimentary copy of the novel tendered by the author.*

I had no idea what to expect when I first read The Survivalist Book I (Frontier Justice) a few years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Arthur T. Bradley's non-fiction and was intrigued by the concept for his novel series; in short, it seemed like a fictionalization of a topic he is thoroughly acquainted with and, more importantly, masterful at discussing. At worst, I figured the novel would be an episode of Doomsday Preppers in written form; what I ultimately encountered was the beginning of one of my all-time favorite fiction series.

Now, arriving at the end of this initial story arc, I look back on my reading experience with the utmost satisfaction. Dr. Bradley has managed to craft not merely believable but truly lovable characters in his protagonists and some hauntingly despicable antagonists. Without spoiling anything, Last Stand concludes the narrative threads that Dr. Bradley has been interweaving since Book I. For me, the conclusions of the separate story arcs are fitting and provide the long-time reader with adequate closure.

With regards to Last Stand in particular, I can honestly say that this is my favorite book of the entire series. The action sequences are, as always, well constructed, fast paced, and utterly engaging. What has truly endeared this book to me however is the sudden plot twists and their masterful application. The series has proffered a few surprising moments but the ones in Last Stand are exponentially more shocking and far greater in number. Suffice to say, even the most careful reader will encounter at least one moment that will catch him or her off-guard.

Perhaps my favorite aspect of the novel is the unexpected evolution of certain characters. Throughout the first seven books of the series, most of the characters remain remarkably static. This could be viewed as a negative but it is also a positive because it provides the reader with consistency; you know what you're getting with Mason, Tanner, Bowie, and the rest of the gang. However, to my pleasant surprise, there were moments of theretofore uncharacteristic behaviors and viewpoints experienced and exhibited by some of these characters. I say uncharacteristic because they were not out-of-character but rather not in line with what was previously expected of them. This has me hopeful for future iterations of the series as well as characters-yet-unmet. In short, it's the sign of a writer gaining confidence in himself and it has me excited about the future of this series.

As always, I recommend beginning with the first book in the series but, whatever your thoughts of the earlier novels, this is the worthy conclusion-of-sorts that we've been waiting for. An absolute must read.

Much to catch up on here for earlier books in the series for a refresher before moving on to book seven; Last Stand. Marshal Raines, Bowie, and Leila are on their way to the bunker to help protect the rightful President Glass. Tanner and Samantha are on a quest to kill the illegitimate President Pike. Tanner and Samantha have injected themselves with blood from patient zero in the hopes that it will mask their human identities and allow them to "blend" with the infected humans. This does seem to work and they enlist a group of infected to aid them in carrying out their mission. Back at the bunker...bad-guy General Hood and his band of Black Dogs (soldiers, not canines) have infiltrated the bunker and are searching for President Glass's group. Marshall Raines, Bowie, and Leila have found another way into the bunker and have joined President Glass's group with good-guy General Carr. Each must accomplish their task quickly and efficiently. Excellent series.

It is hard to separate the last two books in this series. They both go together for me. I think that the two separate stories of father and son have converged. Many twists and turns, some unexpected and some expected. I had a really bad feeling when Laila told Mason that President Glass knew about the outbreak of the supervirus but kept quiet (in the sixth book) and speculated about her true assignment. Got my confirmation on this final book. While the story has ended in many respects, it has also just begun. I was glad to find out that Dr. Bradley plans to continue the series with focus on the adventures centering around "recovery". I think the Mason and Laila will eventually meet up again. Glad that Tanner met up with a woman worthy of him and so willing to "adopt" "Sam".

Superb end ....and more coming!!!!

This has been a superb series by Arthur Bradley and a whole new journey is coming for Mason and his family and I for one can not wait.
This deserves five stars and more for this book and all of the first six have been a joy to read. If you are a adventure reader, a reader who likes a author who develops his character's personality in wonderful ways, who realizes that maybe the end of the world could happen someday, this series could help us survive.
Thank you Arthur, keep them coming!

The entire series has been great, well written and realistic to the type of situations that those left behind will face. Thank you for a great series.

Best fictional series I have read in years. Gripping and realistic. Makes one stop and think how many of us can survive without all we have grown accustomed to having every day. Thanks for bringing us back to a reality that was here 150 years ago when each took care of themself

What a great ending to this particular journey, I can't wait for the start of the next one.
Book seven continued in the exact great style of the previous books in this adventure, loosing none of the action or adventure we have come to enjoy in Tanner, Samantha, Mason and Bowie's mission to right the wrongs of President Pike.

Last Stand - Survivalist bk7

I will never get enough of this series. Finding humour in the darkest of times is a talent, one that every group should have, the proverbial court jester. The series is a masterful way to reach survival skills and be entertained while learning, the best way.

This is the seventh book is this series and it has come a long way. This one shows us new alliances that were developed and also the everlasting deceit and betrayal that has to exist in a world like this. If you are someone is just reading about this book series, it is best read in order. While this one is not specifically annotated correctly, it is the 7th one.

Absolutely great series

This is my favorite series to date. I am normally not a fan of"zombies"but I particularly like the treatment in this series. Add fantastic characters and lots of humor combined with real tips on how to survive in difficult situations and you have a winner.

Don't forget your survival reference guides!

It's been a fun read, good times.
I had a problem excepting the end result, but on second thought, it was probably best.

None of the characters used survival reference guides, How-To instructions. I know I would need them when scavenging for supplies.

Yes

This series is masterfully crafted. Well developed characters with fast paced action from cover to cover. As Tanner took care of Pike, Mason, Reed and carr took care of greenbrier. Looking President Glass to Leila was a blow. The story continues as the world need to be fixed.
