“The past is the past, Holl. Don’t let it ruin your future.”

Hollie has major trust issues, ever since she found out her life is one big lie. She keeps very few close and the rest, as far away as possible. Her life as she lives it now, is one step from earning her the title of "cat lady"; choosing one-night stands over meaningful fulfilling relationships. The day she decides to make a change in her life, is the day her entire world gets shaken up; plagued with a man from her past and a man who chooses to remain a mystery...at least for now. What will she do with the truths that are revealed, would she learn her lesson and finally let go and forgive, or will she allow it to consume her to the point of madness !?!
“If this is going to be different, then it has to be different.”

“You’re afraid of screwing it up just as much as I am.”

Text Message was quite an interesting read, very much a mystery with a couple stubborn broken hearts thrown into the mix. Hollie was so jaded and at times cold, reading this story from her point of view, gave us the insight of how deep her trust issues really run. We see her struggle between knowing what she should do, and letting her instincts protect her heart and guide her actions. The men who came into her life were both haunted and broken, it was hard for me to form any real connection with them regardless of how intrigued I was with the mystery man. I think the premise of the story covers just the beginning of the book, leaving me surprised with the twists and turns along the way. For me, my lack of connection with the characters is mainly the reason for my three stars and it has nothing to do with the author's style or skill. Regardless of my connection it was still a good read and I would recommend it to those who like their love with a flare of mystery.

~~3.5 HEARTS~~

Cover - 1
Heat - 1
Storyline - 3.5

Text Message isn't at all what I thought it to be. I was prepared to read about a love triangle but in fact I saw a more in depth story unfold. Hollie has trust issues and she also has a big problem with infidelity which all stems from her father having an affair and in return ruining their family. She resents what her father did and she vows to run far away from men that reeks of power and money.

After attending a party her father guilts her into going to, Hollie reconnects with Ethan, an old friend she lost touch with after college. All of a sudden out of the blue she receives a text message from an unknown number. This is where Mystery Man enters the picture. I had my suspicions early on with who I thought this mystery man was, but surprisingly I was wrong.

The storyline was believable and actually very interesting. I did have a couple complaints though. There were quite a few grammatical errors and paragraphs where words were missing.

I really enjoyed Text Message. It was one of those stories that kept me guessing. The beauty of it was that when I thought I had it figured out Tessa would throw in a twist to make me doubt myself. I am a fan of her writing, her stories and her ability to keep the suspense alive throughout her stories.

Text Message was fun, intriguing and suspenseful and because of all those things I couldn't put it down, I had to know what was going to happen next.

This was a fun and easy read. The book read smoothly. I however did find the characters a bit annoying. I also found that Hollie was immature in certain aspects. All in all a good read.

ARC generously provided by the lovely author in exchange for an honest review; and here it is..

3 intriguing stars!!

It was really interesting to see the mystery plot unraveled in such a talented way. The writing was really good, even though it needs a bit of editing..

And all those lies!! And that deceit! Wow! Problem I faced, or rather a pet peeve of mine

And though sometimes it dragged for me, it still was intriguing enough to keep me flipping the pages :)

The cover could use a make over to give a glimpse of the goodness inside ;)

A lovely effort!!

Thanks to Ms. Brookfield for this generous offer to take a peek at such talent.

All best wishes!

All because of a Text Message

Hollie didn't have trust in relationships anymore, not after her parents failed marriage and her Ex cheating on her. After she starts getting a mystery text her life will never be the same. When her Mystery man is identified and some secrets are let out, will everyone's lives be torn apart or can the repair the damage that has been done. Can Kane be her saving grace in relationships or with all his pass mistakes destroy what they have built. Can they see pass the lies and give each other a second chance. Really great read.
