If there is one thing every Christian has in common, it is problems. From minor irritations to life-altering struggles, we all face difficulties and needs. And in the midst of these troubles, we need God’s wisdom. Tucked into a less-known passage of Scripture is the story of an unnamed woman, simply referred to as “a wise woman.” In a desperate moment, recorded in 2 Samuel 20, her wisdom saved the day for her hometown, the army of King David, and the entire nation of Israel. In these pages, learn practical lessons from this woman on gaining and using God’s wisdom.
I enjoyed reading about a woman of wisdom in the Bible, that we probably a lot have read about, but passed over. Bringing out different aspects of wisdom, what wisdom is, and how to attain wisdom are addressed perfectly by the author while directing you to Scripture! I love that God wants us to have wisdom and tell us in His Word that He is our source of wisdom! I want to be more wise and this book was an encouragement to me, as I’m reminded I can seek out God and His Word to be that! Thankful for a book I simply could put down and that easily explained to me what true wisdom looks like!
I really enjoyed her thoughts on how to apply gods word throughout your daily life or when trying to make choices! She give some really good insight while pulling verses right for the Bible to back up her statements along with her own personal experience which I love, it helps remind you you are not alone!
I loved this book, short and to the point. It was very encouraging and motivating! This is a great read for any Christian woman wanting to grow in wisdom.
Mrs. Chappell tries to paint over the depravity of man by using the words "problems" or "folly" rather than using the biblical words of "sin", "transgression", or "iniquity". She also adds highly speculative events and feelings to the story of 2 Samuel 20 which is not found, or even implied in Scripture. The author uses the story of the wise woman in 2 Samuel 20 to support the Christian practices she wants to prescribe; she does not draw her applications from this specific story. Her call to action is very generic, such as reading a Proverb everyday.
A quick read that is packed with encouragement from God’s Word. I especially appreciated her reminding us that we can easily get distracted, even in our work for Him.
