Andi McConnell Mystery #3

For Whom the Limo Rolls

Rate this book
Andi McConnell and her "limouzeen" are back - can murder be far behind?

Actually, Andi's life seems more or less normal at the moment. Her limousine business is chugging along. Her relationship with former TV detective "Fitz" Fitzpatrick is comfortable. She's growing in her relationship with the Lord.

Although there are a few peculiarities. The odd new renter in her duplex. Unlikely changes in grumpy, nosy neighbor Tom now that he has a girlfriend. The girlfriend's questionable "helper" from . . . somewhere.

But the limo can't avoid its "magnet for murder" reputation - because there is that dead body.

I enjoyed this book. I like the unusalness of this series, from the very different job (compared to most cozy mysteries) to the channelling of beings from another dimension but thats what I actually like best about this series because it leads to some interesting situations and meeting some very quirky characters. There is a lot of talk about God but don't let that put you off because it isn't preachy and is more a question of how her faith effects her. The mystery was interesting and worked well into her home and job life, making it a nicely balanced mystery that wasn't to much of one thing and distracting. There was plenty of suspects and even Andi couldn't decide who was guilty. The ending did take a totally different direction than I wasn't expecting but I can't wait for the next book in this fun series.
Andi's grumpy neighbours acting strange not complaining about every little thing but what is even more surprising is the fact that he has a girlfriend and wants to hire Andi's limouzeen service to take her out for a meal. Curious about who would put up with the man Andi reluctantly agrees but before she hits the road the date takes an unexpected twist. The girlfriend channels a being from another dimension and wants to talk to Andi. Sceptical of a con, Andi is less than courteous and the date ends badly. When she tries to make it up to her neighbour he gets his own shock. The girlfriend wants to explain things to Andi so she can talk to Tom but instead of getting an explanation she finds a dead body, proving the detective right that her limousine is a magnet for murder. The police don't want to look any further than Tom, after there argument but Andi thinks they have the wrong guy. Yes he is grumpy and always complaining but a killer? No way. Now it's up to her to find the real killer.
I like the narrator. She makes the story interesting with the sound of her pleasant voice.

Sometimes It's Better to Turn Down a Job

Parents- PG-PG13 - this is acceptable for preteens and up
Language- none
Violence- PG13- normal to genre, dead bodies but nothing very detailed
Sexual Content- PG- alluded to relationships but no described interactions, flirtation but nothing really to warn of

I'm really enjoying this series. This one starts with Andi noticing more odd things around her between her new renter's eccentricities and nosy neighbor Tom's sudden lack of nosyness and his new girlfriend who channels some strange guy, leaves her scratching her head but also not expecting a murder. The Christian theme in this series is pretty strong but also really well done, I love seeing her growth and how she reminds others not to judge God from the bad eggs - people that claim to follow but their actions don't. I was sucked into this one pretty quickly and really enjoyed the ride. Definitely recommend for those that like the clean cozy mystery and are maybe looking for a slightly more mature story.

Narrator- (3⭐) Pleasant voice, not the best differentiations, and the speaking speed felt a little slow but better at 1.25x speed.

It is unusual for a cozy mystery author to be brave enough to tackle tough spiritual questions, but Lorena McCourtney really dives in in this book! I found the mystery quite compelling though the ending was slightly unsatisfying, but the questions about God and spirituality that Andi and her friends ask throughout this book made this a really strong novel that I thoroughly enjoyed! I am really hoping for more books in this series because I need to know where Andi and Fitz go from here, not to mention India and Matt. And please, please, please bring back Joella!!!

I received a complimentary audiobook from the author.

*** Audiobook ***
This is a well-balanced mystery with plenty of suspects among the users of her limo service. The development of Andi's relationship with her neighbour and his girlfriend is original and intriguing ad kept me listening. An easy "read" by virtue of a subtle narrator, and an overall clean, cosy mystery.

This whole series was a fantastic ride. Very good stories, which I always get from Lorena's books, and
a good study of the Love of our FATHER in HEAVEN. This is what I have come to expect from her books. These books are a must read, so don't waste time, get to reading!

Always a surprise ending

I've read several of her other books, and the Andi McConnell Mysteries hasn't disappointed! The characters are sometimes unusual, but always have a role to play.

Good Murder Mystery with values

Interesting, relatable characters. The main character is kind of wrestling with her faith throughout which is a fresh perspective. The only reason I didn't give five stars was because it ended abruptly. A good Summer read.
