Love is in the air when a stray cat shows up at the Blue Hill Library with a diamond engagement ring attached to its collar. Anne is determined to find the cat's owner before Liddie falls in love with their new furry friend, but news of the ring brings more than one prospective bride to claim it as her own. As Anne tries to discover the truth, two handsome men vie for her attention, and she realizes she may be in danger of falling in love herself.
Meanwhile, a former writing student of Aunt Edie's, named Hope, returns to Blue Hill with an exciting request: because Edie introduced her to her fiance, Theo, they would like to get married at the library. Anne is thrilled to be involved in the culmination of Edie's matchmaking, but planning someone else's wedding turns out to be more work than she expected.
Emily Thomas was born in London, and has lived there most of her life – except between the ages of 13 and 18 when she lived in Maldon in Essex on board a Thames Sailing Barge, with her family of seven assorted siblings and stepsiblings and two warring cats. While I wasn't the biggest fan of the “romance” (super light, but the most for any book in the series) and love-triangle (have we ever seen Eli before this book? I cannot remember him for the life of me…), I was really happy with how it ended. The mystery was really interesting and it truly was a fitting conclusion to my favorite Guidepost mystery series. :)
A cat shows up at the library with a diamond ring tied to it’s collar. Anne wants to find the cat’s owners and her daughter wants to keep it. Anne finds out the ring had belonged to her aunt which adds to the mystery. When a couple tries to get the ring back and Anne knows it isn’t their’s the mystery deepens. With planning a wedding to be held at the library and a deepening romance for Anne she is busy.
One day a cat comes into the library and when Anne picks it up she notices a diamond ring attached to the cat's collar. Where did the cat come from and is the ring valuable? Anne tries to find out who owns the cat and her daughter Liddie becomes very attached to the cat and names her Kiddie. Meanwhile, Anne is approached by Eli who is very interested in dating her but what about Alex? Anne doesn't know if Alex has feelings for her. Meanwhile, a lady named Hope comes to the library and asks if she and her boyfriend can get married at the library, she told Anne that Edie had set them up but they had to wait a long time to be together. Does Anne find out who owns the cat and the ring? Does she choose Eli or Alex. Read this final book in the series to find out.
I came across this book at my library. I had not read others in the series but could follow along and enjoyed the read. It was fun sorting out the mystery and with nice characters.
Note: This is more or less a review on the series, not just this particular book.
I am so glad this series has finally come to an end. If the last 15 or so books had been as well-written as this one, I would have been sad to see it end. Unfortunately, most of the series was just not up to par. Each book was too drawn out, Anne was too suspicious of everyone, and Anne and Alex's relationship never progressed until this last book. All of a sudden everything seemed to happen at once in "A Fitting Conclusion." This was a really good book, I just wish more had happened between Anne and Alex throughout the series. Another big problem I had with this series that bugged me to no end was the children's ages. I want to say this series covered about 3 years, and Anne's two children, Ben and Liddie, never aged or changed grades. There was no mention of birthdays. They stayed 9 and 5 for the ENTIRE series! Who does that?? I hope I'm not the only one who noticed how absurd this was.
In all honesty, you'd be better off reading "Home to Heather Creek" or "Miracles of Marble Cove." Now those were good series. I also really like their new series "Sugarcreek Amish Mysteries."
