This second edition has a newly updated cover and revised title, but maintains the same inspirational content as the first edition, Conformed, Reborn, Transformed.
What does it mean to be searching for truth? Transformed is one young man's true spiritual journey, a journey in which he encounters the various moments of life that made him question everything he had been taught, the very essence of who he thought he was. His experiences will resonate with anyone who is looking for meaning in a world of chaos.
Open this book with an open mind and heart and go on an exciting, personal journey with Lance Mosher. Are you ready and willing to question what you know about life? See what awaits you as you enjoy the journey to the center of a soul.
Lance Mosher became a Christian in 2003. For the full story, read his book, Transformed: A Spiritual Journey. Lance earned his bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in 2009 and his master’s degree in Ministry in 2011. Since 2008, he has worked in ministry in New Zealand and the United States. He manages multiple evangelistic websites and has directed a school of preaching, authored multiple books, and taught for a Christian university. In his free time, Lance enjoys time with his family, woodworking, writing, the outdoors, photography, music, and movies. He and his wife, Kristen, have two sons.
Honestly, books like this one are so impactful and important. I related so much to Muscle and a Shovel and this book was yet another one where I could relate. As a new Christian, who is surrounded by people who have grown up in the church and don't fully understand where I'm coming from, it's so encouraging to read the stories of other Christians who were once like me and went through a lot of the same things as me.
Lance tells his story in a humble, transparent manner that will leave you in awe of God's grace, salvation, and Truth. What a blessing it is to have a God who provides us the opportunity to be redeemed by His Son's blood! This book helps one navigate through the confusion gripping our religious world by simply pointing out God's will for mankind through His word. I have already shared a copy with one of my friends and highly recommend it to anyone seeking to begin their journey with God!
Great read! Many today are seeing that American "Christianity" is just not for them. The author shows his own journey through this obstacle and how he followed just the Bible to find its true church.
I won this book on Goodreads. It took me awhile to get into this book. At first it was a rather frivolous read about a teenager but then he began to really search for the truth about God and it became very interesting. Meeting another young man who became his guide into the Bible was a changing point in his life. The explanations of Biblical passages according to the Church of Christ were eye opening for me. I think it actually brings up more questions for me rather than answering any but I feel this can be a good thing.
This book is a great example and testimony of someone doing some serious soul searching to find exactly what the Bible says regarding folks who make the decision to follow in the Lord's footsteps. While the Lord made man in His own image and allows us to make our own decisions He also tells us what and how He wants us to do if we choose to follow Him. The scriptures given are great for one to study and see what the author is talking about in his transformation from worldly living to living the life of a Christian.
I always respect when someone shares their personal life experience because I have once been the person to put my personal life out in the publics eye. I love his honestly and I can relate to his journey since I have fallen into religious error.
Transformed is a gem. It follows the spiritual journey of Lance Mosher, as he finds his way to the Lord. This book is so encouraging to all who read it. Once I started reading it I did not want to put it down. He writes in such a way to show how much God truly loves us. I keep a copy close by, and give a copy to others that are looking to be transformed by the power of God. It is a must read!
Please take the short time to read this book, study the scriptures provided, and spend some time thinking about your own eternity. God wants all to be saved, but part remains with each of us. Love you Lance for your dear heart.
I am beyond grateful that I was able to read this book. It started 2021 off right for me. The pandemic has taken a lot from people, and I have allowed it to take my zeal for Christ. It seems like everyone is so opinionated about EVERYTHING. Because of that, I feel like nothing is black and white anymore. I had started to feel that way about God’s word. I lost certainty in the Gospel. I was really able to put myself into Lance’s shoes. He made is easy to immerse myself into the story. I grew up in the church, and I enjoy reading from the mind of someone who didn’t. I love how he added things like,” Although I didn’t need one of their towels, I was glad there was a private place to change.” It shows me just how hospitable and comforting Christians are. You better believe I highlighted A LOT of scripture and conversations. I love when Lance asked if the baptistery was always full and Kurt responded, “They don’t close down the hospitals do they?” Brother Lance’s book reminded me just how POWERFUL and straightforward the Bible is. It IS black and white if you truly read it. My heart is pricked tonight.
In "Fiddler on the Roof," Tevye leads a powerful song describing the ins and outs of his village with "Tradition." As a high school history teacher, the concept inevitably comes up every year. "But WHY do we..." (insert random thing here). I'm always happy to respond by playing that clip from the film.
Unfortunately, too rarely in spiritual walks do we hear, "but WHY do we..." even from seasoned Christians. How much more important must it be in our faith than in a historical discussion that we constantly find ourselves asking not just HOW but WHY!
"Transformed: A Spiritual Journey" guides us through the WHY by taking us directly to God's Word and answers the questions as soon as we begin to ask them. If you are looking for a book that will reaffirm your traditions (as I suspect Tevye would be), this is not the book for you. If, however, you want to grow your understanding in God's purpose for your life and his expectations for his children, you have come to the right place.
Lance describes in the preface what his readers are about to read by saying Transformed is his “spiritual autobiography” (p. ii of the preface). This is an accurate description of the pages that follow, and thus a fulfillment of the purpose bestowed upon Christians in 1 Peter 2:9 - tell people about Jesus and what he has done for you. Transformed may very well be the best modern expression of this purpose in written form. The writing is clear and straightforward, and the aforementioned thoughtfulness and compassion is on full display here. Lance manages to focus on and address his own shortcomings throughout his journey without ever coming across as condescending to anyone else around him. This is not a book about other people’s heretical beliefs; this is a book about how one person who was far from God came to know his Savior and live accordingly. I strongly recommend "Transformed."
Lance's testimony of spiritual transformation is one of honest transparency. The events he recounts are ones not everyone may be able to relate to, but the significance of his journey is what everyone should pay attention to. I love the descriptions about the band's garage hideout and the deep conversations that would happen there. It brings back memories of my high school years with friends trying to figure out life. It is an easy read and a bit elementary in nature, but also engaging and purposeful with many complex struggles broken down into easier to understand elements. Certain aspects of his story could have been explored more, with the author portraying only one-dimensional personas for the people in his life. But for those who are curious about the implications about what it means to be transformed spiritually, this is a great place to start and begin the conversation.
This book is a great read with each chapter leaving you wanting more!
I appreciate Lance’s work. He takes an honest look at his life and religious background showing how he did not believe nor practice the truth. However, by God’s grace, we read that he came to trusting faith in Christ and obeyed the gospel. While this is one of the most important aspects of the book, it is equally amazing that this book is the product of a Christian doing the Lord’s work! Lance outlines how his friend lovingly and patiently helped him to see the truth that sets man free. This ought to encourage all Christians to talk to our co-workers and friends. You never know, they may one day write a book about how you led them to Christ! Get this book and grab a Bible. Read carefully and attentively checking his work with the Scriptures. You will be blessed.
Who do you know that is searching? They may well benefit from this book! And you will too. The young protagonist has suffered through much in his young life, and senses that there is something else worth looking for. Fortunately, he stumbles across a humble follower of God who guides him in his search. Many hard questions are asked and answered, and Lance Mosher does a masterful job of blending the storyline and the conversations about the Scriptures. This book will help those who are searching to see what is worth finding, and to discover who’s been searching for them all along.
This book sure does what the cover states. As I read this book my mind would follow the journey, in my own way re live his life but apply my own as well. This book helped me to realise I too can be saved, no one is exempt from being saved. Whilst reading also I found myself falling deeper into an understand of the loving God that people often portray as someone who inflicts pain or suffering, realizing it is not true. Your past does not determine your future, this book really showed me this in a spiritual sense as well. We are worth life.
This is my first Christian fiction book that I have read. As an avid reader of both fiction and theology, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Mosher takes the reader along on an epic journey of a young man, Brandon Bason. The journey is an emotional journey, due to Bason's great loss. However, it is also a religious journey, as Bason deals with the big questions about life and God with the help of a trustworthy guide. If you are looking for a good read that deals with the struggles we all have from time to time with God, this book is for you.
I have now read this inspiring book twice. Each time I felt more encouraged and got more out of Lances experiences through his life. Lance Mosher writes in a very relatable way and I could see myself in some of his situations and his thoughts. My desire is to share this book and, most of all, the gospel with others. Lances story is encouraging and shows that anyone can be saved and change their life around with Christ at the centre of it. Thank you for sharing your life story Lance Mosher.
Transformed is an excellent telling of a young man finding Christ and all the pieces that came together to let it happen. I read the book in two sittings because it is pleasantly written and Lance's story captured my attention. I found it insightful and uplifting, helpful both to those seeking Christ and those of us who would like to be better at helping those seekers find Him.
I read this with the benefit of knowing the author, but it was such a positive, truthful account of his journey to find Christ. I would bet that Mosher's story is similar to many others' stories. This was such a hope-filled book, and I couldn't help but walk away from it uplifted.
Really great book to read about the author an how he delt with encounters he had on his spiritual journey. Everyone really needs to read this he also includes bible scriptures to go along his reading. I could read this over again. Linda Clupper
