He was born to be the thing of nightmares. A lone, cold killer of his own kind. He was feared, hated and left ostracized by his own. Yet, they weren’t really his own. Not fully. Unique, even among his own kind, Mikal was resigned to a life of loneliness, grateful for the love of his family and brethren.
She was born of none. Called only Alpha Two. Created in a lab. A genetic experiment of DNA splicing with one known and one unknown species—neither human. She was raised to be a cold killer for people with no conscious, no decency, and no one to stop them. Until she escaped. Unlike most, she didn’t run. Determined to get back inside and save her brethren and destroy those who created them. Who forced her to call them gods.
Hunting the same people for very different reasons, the beast-killer and the god-killer will clash in a storm of power and steel will. Forced to work together, they will have to face more than the enemy in order to survive the trap being set for them both.
Mikal was taken in by Grai when was a toddler of a out three. All that he knew was his name. Since then he has been part of an enormous loving family with Grai as his father. Despite this he has always felt alone in a part of himself. In this book he suddenly meets Alpha Two. She is a windwalker like him with the same white eyes but she was grown in a laboratory! From meeting her and introducing her to his family it is but a short step to freeing others like her. But that isn't as easy as it looked! Another fast paced story continuing the saga of the aliens living among us spoilt only by the very poor proofreading.
I really enjoy the First Wave and Second Wave series switching back and forth with the storyline. Mikal finds out where he comes from and it's not what is expected. Chance is another tough and determined heroine. There's a lot going on in this book and it continues to be action packed.
This was Mikal's book and if you (like me) are into your alien love story every once in a while then this is a MUST read !! I think I liked the First Wave series best, but the Second Wave stories have been equally great x You will not be disappointed !!
More time spent with Mikal and siblings is always fun. Every time you think that the series can't get better it does.
Each book focuses on a character but also introduces new characters to love and a large interactive family to worry about and root for.
And the story, unexpected twists and turns, like being on a roller coaster. With the end of each book I want the next and also want to go back and re-read the series. The stories could have so easily repeated the same trope (alien, human, meet, instant love, run ins with evil) over and over, but each has been different and added more details to this universe.
This book like most of the earlier ones is a happy for now, happy ever after is hard when everyone's fighting unscrupulous tricky evil. The storyline would capture and hold my interest if the sex scene(s) vanished.
There's a lot of background details interspersed through the story that makes it such a pleasure to read as part of a connected series (First Wave and Second Wave). But the detail in this book does not overwhelm the characters and plot.
The author's writing has definitely improved with time and practice, and the addition of an editor. I've enjoyed all the stories from Hunting Cari on but felt that the writing in this one just flowed. I was at the end of the book before I knew it. I can't wait for the next books chronicling the rescue of Mikey then Koda.
Each new book tells a different story, but every single one tells of a great love. The lo e of a parent, the love of a child for its parent, the love between mates, and unconditional love of those that are not family by blood but by love. The ill do anything for you between siblings and from parents, is breathtaking. Waiting on the latest additions in this entire series.
I have never not liked Ms Lane's stories. Her characters are well developed and likable. The storyline is interesting and has just the right amount conflict and love mixture to keep the reader focused. While Mikal and Chance did not have the problems that some of the other characters in this series had, I enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others.
good story...another alien race makes itself known. all the good guys search for their missing comrade and find mad scientists mistreating. created hybrids...
This was a nice continuation of the series. There wasn't as much danger going on or tension as in the other books. I felt that there was something lacking.
Loved both of the main characters, and Charlie was adorable. I love where she is taking the series and am ready for them to start kicking some major a**, not that they haven't already!
Mikayla Lane you rock. I think your books are awesome to read and I can't wait on the next installment. I hope they find Koda soon, it's getting crazier.
Love the series! This was a very complex series and I have really enjoyed reading it. Love how the two series overlap causing you to remember the previous book's
