Tatterhood: And Other Feisty Folktales

Rate this book
Long ago, when bathtubs were rare and even queens had tangles...Tatterhood is brazen, bold and tougher than troll-hags, but she knows how to charm a cranky prince. The farmer's daughter has a mind of her own she won't marry the squire, says she, 'Not even if he was up to his ears in gold - which he isn't.' Hill-trolls, villains, princes and squires are no match for the gutsy heroines in this book. They know what they want, and they get it! These tales from Norway, translated and retold by Margrete Lamond, are fresh as mint and twice as saucy - perfect for reading aloud.

a wonderful re-telling of traditional Norse tales having female protagonists.
reminded me of Angela Carter's The Bloody Chamber, except for young readers.

great language, flow and humor!

A must have for your child's library if you can find it!!

Norwegian Tales with Clever Heroines

This is a great short collection of Norwegian fairy tales, especially for the vibrant girls that go after what they want until they get it.
