I enjoyed this book very much and look forward to reading the next one in the series, "For Richer For Poorer.
I enjoyed all of the characters in the book; but especially Jax and Meg as well as the sister, Margot. However it seemed the ending was rather abrupt and left me with some questions.
1. How did Lars always know where Jax was?
2. What did Jax do with the ring he bought for Meg? Did he give it to her? Was it used as an engagement or wedding ring?
3. After marrying Jax do they have a child?
I look forward to reading, "For Richer, For Poorer" because I want to know what happens with Lizzy. I also hope there is a book that tells us more about Margot.

To Honor and Cherish is a sweet Christian historical romance with an inspiring message of hope after tragedy. After Meg loses her husband she is left alone and in danger of losing her land and everything she cares about. When Jax appears, looking for a job on her ranch, she isn't sure she can trust him, but could God have sent him into her life for a special purpose?
I've always enjoyed reading historical romance with a western theme and this book did not disappoint. The story had an inspiring message of faith weaved throughout. I loved Meg's character because of her courage and independence. She has faced tragedy in her life but keeps her faith in God through it all. Jax character was mysterious enough to keep me interested in the storyline and wonder what secrets he was harboring. I loved his gentle personality and how he protected Meg during the story.
Overall, I really enjoyed this story and recommend it for those who love Christian romance. *I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Meg was recently widowed when her husband Chase was killed in a tornado. Now she has to figure out how to pick up the pieces and run her ranch. Jax is a man who tries to be honorable in his life but has been on the run from an enemy...his ex brother in law. Jax is hired by Meg to be the foreman of her ranch and it is soon clear that they have a connection. She has to make a decision to follow society's norms when it comes to the mourning period or does she follow her heart and get on with life that is ahead of her?
Wonderful story but I felt the ending was too abrupt. That said I would love to read book 2 when it comes out.

Sweet historical romance
This was a sweet historical romance telling the love story of Jax and Meghan. I enjoyed the story and feel it was appropriate for the time setting. There were a few marks missed by the proofreader, but they weren't too distracting from the overall book. The author spent a good deal of time developing the love story. I like the suspense and mystery surrounding Jax. I think towards the end it was a bit rushed. I think writer should have written an epilogue. I would recommend this book to readers who enjoy a good clean historical romance with lead characters who aren't perfect but perfect for each other.

In this book, the author has combined early historical fiction with faith and romance to create a very enjoyable read. She certainly captured the feel of living in Kansas in the early 1900's. I was caught up in the characters lives and the story line from this first pages. It was fun following the relationship develop between main characters, Meg and Jax. I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review. I certainly hope there will be other books to follow by this author.

What a heart-catching story! To Honor and Cherish draws you in and captures your heart. Kari Trumbo pens a delightful, gripping...historical tale of the West you won't want to put down.
The characters are real, not too lovable but at the same time, someone you may just fall in love with. The story was a bit slow at first but then it took off and I was hooked. Good job, Ms. Trumbo.

This book really has a little bit of everything. There’s mystery, there’s romance, there’s excitement. I sat down to read one Sunday afternoon and didn’t stop until I was about two-thirds of the way through, and I only stopped reading because I HAD to. Great book!

“To Honor and Cherish” by Kari Trumbo was an interesting book to read. It started out very well and I thought that this would be one of my favorites of this genre. The more I read, the more confused I became.
Jax is constantly on the run from a ruthless businessman bent on killing him. Why Jax doesn’t stand up to him is a mystery to me. Everywhere Jax ends up, so there is Lars Larsen. Jax seems a decent guy, but I cannot imagine that this scenario keeps going on, that is, until he starts working for Meg.
Meg’s husband has only been dead a month and she needs a ranch foreman. There is a convoluted story about her father stipulating that the first of his two daughters to marry and have a child will get the ranch. Sister Lizzie doesn’t particularly want the ranch; she just wants to beat Meg at anything and everything. This was the first scenario that irritated me. What woman who supposedly loved her husband has erotic notions about a drifter she just met and whom she know nothing about.
I’m sorry to have to give this review, but I must write my honest opinion of the work. I’m not sure where this novel went wrong, but I felt as though every morning while writing, the author would come up with another disaster to be taken care of. There was always the specter of Larsen and his men coming after Jax. They knew where he was, he knew they knew and the tension that created just didn’t ring true to me. Then there was a horseback trip to Canada to fetch Lizzie who had run away and had a complete change of character while gone two weeks. Unbelievable! And all this after more drama than I could stand. I did finish the book, but I was aggravated that I’d spent that much time reading it. I should have followed my instincts the minute my brain ceased to function while reading.

Beautiful historical romance. This is Meg and Jax's story. When Meg takes over the ranch after losing her husband, she needs ranch hands. One evening as she was on the porch reading the paper a dark stranger rolled up inquiring about the ranch foreman job. While she initially didn't think she could trust Jax, in her heart she felt he was a good man. She gave him the ranch foreman job and control of the ranch hand decisions. This romance is beautifully written with a happy ending.

Good story. Great characters
I really enjoyed this story. It was hard to put down. It's nice to read a love story without all the smut of other books. That being said, writers would be remiss to publish without an editor. There was just so many errors, it took away from the story at times.

Splendid reading!
Really enjoyed this story! Heartbreak and grieving over her late husband. Then thrilling adventures with sweet romance blooming. Nothing like running from bad men, while worrying looking for a family member. Could not put this down.

Western love stories
I very much enjoyed Jax and Megan’s story. They both learned some important lessons along the way. I can’t wait to find out what happens next. Very well done!

I enjoyed this second story in the Western Vows series, and we see Rose and Pete again from Forsaking All Others. Widow Meg Connors is existing, and running the family ranch. She lost her husband during a tornado in the spring and had hired Jax to be foreman to help move the cattle to market. Jax is a haunted man trying to outrun demons and an evil man that is out to kill him. Meg’s father has a codicil in his will that the family ranch will go to whatever daughter marries and produces a male heir first. After five years of marriage, Meg never did become pregnant and believed herself to be barren, so with her sister determined to take the ranch, where will she end up?
The plot takes this story on an emotional roller coaster ride with anger, deceit, adultery that includes an illegitimate child, family secrets, shame, hidden agendas, runaways, and best of all, God working in the lives of various characters. The story also has a large cast of characters, some with good hearts and some that are downright evil. The dialog is open, honest and emotional with some family members being rude and hateful. Learning a family secret will open the door to a new beginning for one, healing for others and allow a chance to mend mistakes. Sometimes nefarious plans of greed can change when the right person enters your life. For Lizzy, maybe running away will be a valuable lesson in growing up when no longer under the influence of her bitter and vicious mother’s attitude. Meg learns there is a difference when it is love for something or love for someone. Kari Trumbo writes wonderful, heart warming, thought provoking, action filled stories. To Honor and Cherish is a great story of family, love, loss, trust and confidence. Meg is a widow and her life has changed. She has to take care of herself and the ranch. The new foreman, Jax, has a past that he is trying to deal with and move on. I enjoyed the pace of this story, the characters and the details and descriptions. I want to read every book that Kari Trumbo writes.

First time read from this Author
The storyline was good, dragging in a couple areas. Characters developed nicely. A nice read for a miserable weekend. Received a HEA ending but kind of left you with questions, it's a series so I thought they would be answered in the next book. Book 2 is out of print at the time I'm writing this. :( Although the story was good I won't be reading this Author again because her books in this series aren't available.
