Sophia Frazier only fights for money. With her life before age twelve a complete blank, the search for her identity and family carries a hefty price tag. She'll even take on a big bruiser like Atticus Chase for a couple of rounds if it means getting closer to figuring out who she is.
Atticus falls for Sophia -- literally and figuratively -- the moment she knocks him out, but when he discovers Sophia has no idea she's also a snow leopard, his brothers and the Alphas Council get involved. She's too dangerous to roam the city alone, but Atticus struggles to control his own lion. How can he possibly teach Sophia to control her leopard?
With only a week to learn how to shift before the Council has her executed, Sophia fights to find her place in the world and the Chase family. Loving Atticus should be enough, but as they both run out of time, storms gather and Sophia faces the fight of her life.
And now I remember why this was not my favourite book. Not due to the main characters or how it plays out overall, but due to the asinine and cruel attitude of the new council. Giving someone who didn’t even know they were a shifter ONE WEEK to learn control, ridiculous timeframe. Then what they did to Atticus was just disgusting. Read in the box set.
As the enforcer for the Chase family and businesses, Atticus was beyond fit and buff, he was deadly. Perhaps even more so than his family realized since his lion was close to out of control, now Atticus was barely keeping his shifter side under any type of control. It’s likely the reason he began taking to the underground, illegal game of street fighting – and why he never lost. Until the night a beautiful, determined female was slated against him. He was taught from childhood – you never ever hit a lady unless it’s in self-defense… but maybe he could edge by that decision. One round, certainly he could manage to knock her down without hurting her in one round. Surprise, Atticus. Knocked on your butt by a girl. He’d never live that down if his family ever found out.
Later, when he saw Sophia being harassed on the street he jumped in to help, but she had the situation pretty much in hand… and also not, since she’d shifted into a beautiful, deadly snow leopard seemingly without realizing what she’d done. A shifter who has absolutely no control over their animal is too dangerous to be allowed in the city unattended. Sophia was brought to the Chase estate and before the Council… where she was given a harsh ultimatum. Learn to control her shift within one week – or be put down. Atticus already knew she was his mate, no matter how much that fact confused him – and he’d not let anyone harm her. But, he also was barely in control of his lion. Somehow they both needed to get control of Sophia’s leopard before they had to do something desperate or watch Sophia die.
Storm Chaser is an action packed Shifter Romantic Suspense style story. The bond between Atticus and Sophia is obvious and strong. The Chase family is doing everything they can to insure Sophia’s success because they know what she is to Atticus and for her own self as well. There are other factors at play as well, and as always in this series, the secondary characters make the story come alive with plots, twists and options you never saw coming.
As with every title in this series, the story of Atticus and Sophia grabbed my attention, and my emotions. Their struggle is very real, and their determination in the face of such a difficult task is both a wonderful thing and a frightening to watch. Their chemistry was off the charts, and so was their stubbornness. I completely enjoyed this couple, and Sophia easily became one of my favorite characters in this series. I would recommend Storm Chaser without hesitation for any Shifter or Paranormal romance reader.
I read this story through my Kindle Unlimited subscription
I have laughed and cried and laughed more with this series. It is great. I love Atticus more than I love any of the brothers (except maybe Edgar and Carter...oh who can choose). The love between Atticus and Sophia was absolute fabulous. The way he gave of himself to her and when he was willing to die for her and if she died to take him with her was beautiful. I know I was not the only one that cheered for her when she controlled her shift for the Council. I also like how we are introduced to characters that have purpose and propel the story from one book to the next. I'm glad that I took a chance on this series...I have not been disappointed.
This was another great read in his series. She met him in a fight. She didn’t know that she had a leopard inside her, she thought they were seizures, but it was her leopard coming out. He knew that this was his mate. They had a week to get her comfortable to change one from the other. She didn’t know if she could, with her death the consequence if she couldn’t he told her to run. But with a little help from family she realised she loved him too much to run and came back to prove they had a future. Narration was awesome too.
Love Atticus and Sophia's story. I'm really enjoying this series. Love the Chase pride, Atticus is having trouble controlling his loin, and Sophia does not realize that she is a shifter. Wonderful story of how these two come together, Sophia helping Atticus with his control and he helping her when she realize that she is a shifter. Love catching up with Logan the family Alpha and Benedict the family lawyer and their mates.
I really love this series and others I've read by this author. My only niggle is how abruptly they end. I'm left with questions and the feeling of loose ends. The writing is brilliant and it flows great. Then bam... You're finished.
Lackluster story, a lot of angst without anything really happening. Of cause it was well written, but I don't like when all the drama is just in the head.
I think so far I enjoyed this one the most. They’re all a bit over dramatic (I think one of the brothers flips at least one table in each book) but overall enjoyable
I love a great romantic suspense, and when you add paranormal to the mix, it doesn't get much better. Atticus Chase is the enforcer of the Chase pride, the youngest but largest of the Chase brothers, and barely in control of his lion. To keep his animal calm, Atticus fights in illegal street fights, where his size and strength keep him at the top until a woman fighter is scheduled for his next bout. Sophia is a champion who has been promised five thousand dollars to go one round with Atticus, win or lose. Hitting a woman goes against everything he believes and he refuses to fight her, but she convinces him to go a round, then knocks him out him when he gets distracted. A few days later, Atticus sees her leave a bar, only to be attacked by three men who followed her out. She knocks two out and Atticus scares the third away, but the stress causes Sophia to shift. Which normally wouldn't be a problem, except that Sophia has no idea she's a shifter, her animal has complete control, and a rogue is a threat to the safety of all shifters. Sophia's very life is now in the hands of the new shifter Council and they have given her a week to learn to control her shifts, or she will be put down.
The series so far has been an easy read and okay. Some of the scenes are awkward, rushed, and I think if the author had taken more time/pages, the books would be so much better. Allow readers more of a chance to really get into the story. Despite the shortness of the books, the characters' depth and growth are still able to come through decently enough.
This 3rd book of the series is a 3.5, but went ahead and gave it 4 stars. The advantage this has is that by now, the main characters' depth is easier seen and felt due to the previous 2 books. I love the struggles and plot lines the author comes up with. Just wish she'd allow more depth and growth for everything to come off more smoothly.
Awesome book. Didn't expect an innocent invitation to fight to turn into this back story. But how can it just end. Please tell me another book will have them going or coming to Michigan.
I love this series. I love the depth of the characters and emotions that the author is able to evoke with her writing. I found the concept of a shifter not knowing they were a shifter very intriguing. I also loved that, while helping Sophia, she was able to help Atticus at the same time. I had a problem with the Council and how they chose to go about things which made it hard to read through part of the book, but overall it for the story and the story was very enjoyable to read. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys paranormal romance books with a ton of heat and danger and emotion. Although, I highly recommend this series be read in order to get the best experience possible as the books all take place in the same pride and family.
What an emotional ride! Atticus is a fighter. Like literally, he fights every night and usually wins but the reason he's doing it is to help control is nearly out of control lion. Until he meets Sophia. She helps him to feel more at peace and keep his lion quiet and content. Until she's in danger. The issue is that Sophia doesn't realize who/what she is. She's been hiring investigators for most of her adult life to try to fill in the blank spaces of her mysterious past. But she keeps coming up empty and still doesn't have all the answers. Until Atticus witnesses her shifting into a beautiful snow leopard and running away. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Now that Eloise has recovered and Benedict is almost back to normal, it's Atticus' turn. He's been having trouble containing his inner beast and has been street fighting. Of course things come to a predictable end when he enters the ring with a girl, Sophia, and his brothers catch him getting knocked out in the fight. Now Sophia has a few secrets of her own.
When you start reading the first book of this series you can't leave the rest out... I love all the characters, the bond between the brothers and the friends that come and go... looking forward to read more...
Ok now I see why this is called storm chaser. I am glad Atticus wasn't hurt more than so, I hope someone takes those wolves down a notch or two. Now I see why Ruby can't stand Miles.
This is about 4.5 stars --- I didn't love it quite as much as book 1, but the story gripped me quite a bit more than book 2. Still a series to look forward to each installment of.
