Another amazing book! And that cover? Gorgeous!

I was privileged enough to be asked again by Kym Grosso to Beta read her wonderful new book and it was just as great as all the books that have come before it :D

This book could definitely be read as a standalone, but it would obviously be better if the reader had read previous books in the series.

The book starts with a bang which sucked me in immediately, wondering where the hero and heroine were and who had captured them both.

This is a story about recovering from loss, falling in love and friendships. It's about protecting the people they care about whilst dealing with a truly dark and dangerous enemy.

"Their power is stronger every time. They've stolen..." Katrina sucked back a sob. "My magic."

There is everything I look for in a book here; a great (if not a tiny bit complicated) storyline, some very welcome old faces, two brilliant leading characters, some super steamy sex and some endearing and mysterious new characters.

Jax is really amazing. I loved that he's so old, in the nicest way possible. Haha. He's full of wisdom and has clearly learned a lot in his years as an Alpha. He's learnt from past mistakes.
I love how devoted he is to his pack and how admirably he makes hard decisions for them all. Sometimes he takes personal hits, but he does it all without hesitation, for them.
He's really understanding and reasonable too. He's super sexy and charming. And I really like the friendships he makes. He doesn't let people in very often but when he does that person is truly lucky to have him at their back.

Katrina is strong and confidant. I really admired her determination to keep Jax safe. There aren't many women who could make the kinds of decisions she had to make. She stayed away from Jax even when it physically hurt her to do so. She's a fighter and she loves with all of her heart.
I loved her for her fortitude and her honesty. And her slightly dominant side was really hot.

"This is happening tonight. I'm going to mark you. And do you know why, Jax? Because you're mine."

Jake is awesome. He's a fantastic character. We've seen quite a lot of him in the last few books and I think most people, like me, will have grown to really care for him.
He's so much fun and he brings a lighter side to the book, which is really refreshing.

I enjoyed every single minute of this book and will be highly anticipating the next release from Kym :D

Alpha Jax Chandler met the woman who he thought was his mate, she was everything he imagined until she betrayed him. Katrina Livingston knew Jax was to be her mate, but she had been warned that if they mated he would die. A few misleading truths kept them apart, but when Jax is kidnapped by the demons who have taken her they are forced together again.

Jax wants answers and he plans to get them now that Katrina is in his territory. He is torn with wanting to send her back home, his obvious attraction, and the fact that she betrayed him. As Katrina reveals why she did what she did, Jax finds himself protecting her and wanting to claim his mate. However someone is after Katrina and he needs to figure out who before they can truly move forward.

Another fantastic Kym Grosso read. I have been waiting for Jax's story and this did not disappoint. Very curious about Jake who is a big part of this story. Liked that Katrina is a female alpha and is struggling to submit to Jax's alpha. Exceptional read.

Another fantastic addition to the Immortals of New Orleans series!!!!! As always, she has written a sexy story full of adventure that will keep her fans on the edge of their seats, needing a fan to cool them off during the super hot, sexy scenes.

Will Kat be able to keep from claiming her mate? Can Jax teach Kat that submitting to her Alpha doesn't mean being weak? Together can they defeat whoever is out to take the power of the Alpha couple? This is a must read if you are a lover of the paranormal!!!!

I love this author and I am so addicted to this series. She reminds me a bit of Kresley Cole with her ability to take a previously villainous character and make him endearing. You never know when a good guy will turn bad or vice versa.

However, as much as I love her, Jax was my least favorite in the series. It was still a fantastic read, but if I'm comparing to the other books it just wasn't the same. I think it was the kidnappings that bothered me. The fact that it continued for years and no one knew. The author insinuated a family connection that was left unanswered. I just felt like there were a few plot holes in this one. Still, I'm a huge fan and can't wait for the next book.

Oh my, look at that sexy, hot cover!!! Gives you a hint to how good this book is!

Jax, a gorgeous Alpha Wolf of New York, with his striking Nordic looks. Katrina, sister to Tristan, Alpha Wolf of Philadelphia.
They first met at a meeting/dance, their chemistry, attraction was undeniable. But, at the time, Kat fears for the gorgeous Jax and turns away from him.
Events out of Katrinas control, leads her and Jax to come together. This time she cannot deny him, but doesn't admit it out loud. Katrina is strong, but what she is facing requires his help, and he will give it to her, and so much more.
This is story line is so intense, just like "Dimitri" and "Leopold" was, this story explodes with action, twists and turns, surprises and mystery. I listened to it on Audible and the Narrator Ryan West brought this story to life!!
Chemistry, hottt love scenes, and romance and love. No amount of troubles trying to kill Kat, could overcome the powerful Alpha Wolf Jax is!!! There were so many parts in the story line were Kym Grosso brings goosebumps and so much with the narrative!
Love the familiar characters from previous series. Love how the story line leaves so much room for more books in this banging hot and interesting series!!
Jax and Kat, the story has so much I love in Kym Grosso's writing!! A must read/listen, so good. I promise!!

REVIEW: 4.5 stars--JAX is the seventh full-length installment in Kym Grosso’s contemporary, adult Immortals of New Orleans paranormal, erotic romance series. This is wolf shifters Jax Chandler, Alpha of the Agrestis Wolves, and Katrina Livington’s storyline. JAX can be read as a stand alone although for cohesion and backstory I recommend reading the series in order as many of the previous storyline characters play secondary and supporting roles throughout. There is some bad blood between the Agrestis and Lyceum wolves including a misunderstanding regarding Jax and Katrina’s potential mating, and Tristan’s non-acceptance of his sister’s mate.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Jax and Katrina) JAX focuses on the rescue and recovery of Katrina Livingston. For several years Lyceum wolf shifter Katrina (Tristan’s sister) has been the victim of a series of abductions at the hands of what she believes are witches and demons. Her latest kidnapping finds a kindred spirit in the Agrestis Wolf Alpha Jax Chandler, who has found himself in the same predicament as the woman he once believed to be his fated mate. Following their escape to freedom, and Jax’s need to keep Katrina close, our couple begins the search for the people or things behind their abductions, and the reason Katrina has been targeted by an unknown source. What ensues is a building relationship and fated mating between Jax and Katrina; the search for the truth; and Katrina’s continuous rejection of claiming Jax as her mate.

Something about Katrina is changing. With every kidnapping, Katrina’s powers and abilities have changed and grown. But her greatest fear is the loss of her wolf as she begins to lose the ability to shift. As Katrina’s wolf begins to disappear, other abilities come to the forefront as the search for the demons brings the wolves full circle when they are pulled into the world of witches and magic; betrayal and revenge; and the search for the ultimate power.

The attraction between Jax and Katrina has already been established. At each l meeting between our couple the spark of a mate cannot be ignored but Katrina lied to her Alpha about Jax’s intentions, and Jax’s anger towards Katrina has grown with every encounter. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense. Jax knows that Katrina is his mate but Katrina is not willing to place Jax in the direct line of potential harm –the demons want something from Katrina, and Jax is determined to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love.

JAX has a large ensemble cast of characters with vampires, witches, demons, wolves and shape shifters including wolves Tristan, Jake and Finn, and vampire Luca and his (witch) wife Samantha. Samantha is nearing her date of delivery, and with it comes the potential for more harm than good. There are numerous references to previous storyline premises as the build up to Jax and Katrina’s storyline crosses over several installments between New Orleans and New York, and the inclusion of Ilsbeth-the powerful witch who started it all.

JAX is the culmination and build up of several storyline premises (Dimitri #6) wherein the wolves are targeted for their power and ability to shift; an engaging, erotic, romance with some M/F/M sexual situations, bondage and discipline, and light spanking. The story is infinitely detailed, intriguing and wondrous; the characters are passionate and dramatic; the romance is intoxicating and intense.

Kym Grosso’s IMMORTALS OF NEW ORLEANS is a magical and provocative series focusing on the supernatural species of vampires, shifters, witches and more. JAX is a must read for followers of Grosso’s IMMORTAL OF NEW ORLEANS.

I soooo missed reading paranormal romance!

This is the series to read!

I love me all the men in this series but after finishing this book, I think Jax is my #1 Alpha.  From the moment I read the explosive 1st Chapter in this book, all I could picture was Jase Dean who is on the cover as Jax.

The words written by Kym engulfed my mind and I was brought  into her world which is exciting, scary, loved the mystery and what if's.  Hot sexy scenes that made the red cover feel like it was literally on fire because boy does Kym know how to write sexy! Cherries were definitely popping everywhere & Jax may have bitten a couple of them with that filthy mouth of his!

This book can be read as a standalone but I HIGHLY recommend you read the whole series.  It's just soo good.

Go 1 click & find out why you will want Jax to be your main Alpha!

This is one of my favorite series and one of my favorite authors. I am always happy to come back to these characters because I know that I am about to be immersed in a world that is full and rich. While you get to follow the current story you know that you are being introduced to what will be happening further down the road as the characters grow and change. The writing is as always perfect and keeps me coming back for more. The dialogue between the characters is realistic because the conversations are ones that you can see happening with anyone whether they are vampire, shifter, witch or human.

Jax Chandler is the Alpha of Agrestis Wolves and is hot for retribution after being held captive and tortured by an unknown enemy. He finds and rescues a beautiful wolf, who he recognizes as the woman he had once thought was his mate. After what she did to him he is not happy to see her but he could not leave her behind to an uncertain fate.

Katrina Livingston has Alpha blood running through her, the daughter of an Alpha and the sister of Alpha's. Her shifter magic has been being siphoned off by demons for years and she has been unable to stop it. After being rescued from her latest abduction Kat has no choice but to turn to Jax, the person she has both hurt and tried to protect. She finds herself falling into his erotic world and tries to resist the instinct to mate because she has been told to do so will kill him.

I indulged myself b both reading and listening to the book which means I can take it in so much better. The narrator was good, though sometimes he seemed a little laconic, he still managed to convey the emotions of the characters fairly well. There was a lot going on here not only with the main characters but another favorite, Jake, who was helping Jax but also finding out a few things about himself.

Take the time with this. If you have not been reading this series I suggest you start. It is well worth it.

One thing that surprised me was how little Kat's brothers were in this book or involved. She's their sister. I mean she's been kidnapped many times over the last few years. They have a bond with her and I find it hard to believe that Tristan and Hunter couldn't sense something was off. Or heck if she was keeping secrets. I mean they can sense lies or deception at least. I mean hell Tristan is Kat's Alpha technically and thats kinda his job to sense one of his wolves is in distress. Just confused me. We really dont know a whole lot about Hunter and I am hoping at some point we will. Thats the only thing that bothered me about the book.

I honestly loved it as always. This is an awesome series. Gets our motors running for sure. I've been intrigued by Jax for a couple books now...since Tristan's book. He's one powerful Alpha. He can be stoic when need be. All business. A bastard of the highest order. What I learned about his character is he's actually really sensitive and vulnerable in his way. He's got a soft side that is totally sweet and romantic. Yep...for real! He's unbelievably pissed at whats happened to him. He's pissed at Kat for awhile until he understands whats behind it all. She really hurt him. Denying they are mates years ago and telling Tristan and Marcel he was trying to force a mating. Well she didnt technically do that her brother just assumed he was and she let them believe it to protect Jax. I liked Kat but I swear that girl doesnt think before she acts. She had lots of trouble with submitting to Jax as alpha. Not that I blame her because her control has been taken from her and she needed to feel that. This is just an interesting story. Happy, sad, pissed...you name it. Jake was awesome and he cracked me up. I felt for Ilsbeth a smidge because we dont know whats happened to her. We've always knows shes a wildcard or lets just say not necessarily to be trusted. We still dont know much. I was surprised at Avery because she so didnt strike me as someone who was like that. I'm guessing good 'ol Mick had a lot to do with how she turned out. I mean she was Larissa's friend...so it threw me. OMG...we got to meet Leo's maker y'all! Wow...I just dont know how to describe this guy except he's scary and really really intense....if you think Leo was? Um no...Quin is worse! LOL. He's dangerous and very old but sexy in a dark way. He tries to stay out of things but he's sorta invested because he was kidnapped once together with Kat. I liked him because actually he's a friend of Jax. Not BFF but good friends in a way for a vamp and wolf. I hope to see more of him. A lot more. Heh. Great story and HEA of course and I recommend.

End note is that scene where Kat wanted Jax's submission was priceless! I bet that took so much restraint for him to allow that! He did it because he KNEW she was gonna finally claim him and he felt she needed it and it really was a gift he did that for her. See y'all? How sweet! Oh...and the craw-fish boil. I laughed at Jax cause he's never done that. Sucked out the brains or whatever it is. He described the eyes and antennas and it was just hilarious that he had trouble "trying" it the New Orleans way. Poor guy....Jake and Kat encouraging him and he loved it once he tried it. I think I've said enough in my review. It was long but there was so much to say and I have more but I'll leave it to the readers to get the book!

Jake's story is next I believe. I hope this series doesnt end anytime soon. So many more characters to read about! :)

Submission. Honesty. Trust.

These are the qualities that Jax Chandler expected his mate to have once they connected and sealed their bond. But regardless of what he wanted and what he believed to be true, for the past few years, Katrina Livingston has kept Jax away, refusing to acknowledge her attraction to him as well as the connection of their wolves.

Disobedience. Lies. Mistrust.

These are the actions and feelings that surround the would be mates. Both Jax and Katrina know the truth, but due to the evil and threats that surround her, Katrina won’t risk bonding with Jax because not only does she fear for her own life but his as well.

Oh Goddess is Jax an alpha to the core, and it completely makes sense that a headstrong, independent she wolf would be his mate because Jax needs the challenge, and he needs to learn the idea of give and take after only taking what he’s wanted from women for many years. Katrina is Jax’s perfect match because her alpha tendencies will teach them both that in order to commit to each other and protect one another from the demons who are threatening them both, they’ll need to learn when to submit and when to dominate.

Kym Grosso’s paranormal world is always the perfect blend of mystery, sensuality, and suspense. All of her other worldly characters exude their own personalities, which are developed and adjusted as they work through the issues they face and confront the danger that threatens them.

Despite both Jax and Katrina’s fierce independence, they need to work together to figure out what’s happening to Katrina’s body and majick in order to give them the future and the relationship, that as the story progresses, they both so desperately want and need.

Jax is a stunning addition to Grosso’s Immortals of New Orleans series. The chemistry between Jax and Katrina is palpable from the start and the way they learn to trust each other and repair the damage that was caused by Katrina’s denial proves that they are true mates in every sense of the word.

I can’t wait for Jake’s book. With the epilogue in Jax setting up where Jake’s storyline is heading, it is sure to fire up both the other couples in the series and its readers.

On the fence again...Repetitive and nothing new.

I do like the series the Immortals of New Orleans however I feel it's template writing. The characters all think the same, behave the same and the plots are very similar. While the male characters differ slightly in personality, the women, not so much. They are almost a carbon copy of each other. Both the males and females have the same sexual proclivities, strengths and weaknesses.

Having said that, Jax is probably the most alpha written in the series which is really why it's a total shock that, even for the greater good, there arises a situation in this story that he has to share his mate and agrees to it. Still hard for me to wrap my head around this concept with everything I believe about alpha males. Nevertheless, Jax is a true alpha as he continues to mourn the loss of Nick, bond with his mate and mentor a young alpha.

This book seven of the series falls in line with the others...If you've read one...which on one hand is kinda nice because you don't have to read them all! But silly me, I have.

The dialogue in this story is sharp and witty from everyone (everyone's a smart a$$), especially Jake and Jax. Not to say that Katrina, Quintus Tullius and Mick Germaine don't have a few funny comebacks. The pace of the story is humanly slow with the search for the cause of what's happening to Katrina, the search for Ilsbeth and/or the demons and the revelation of what is really going on. It doesn't come to the earth shattering conclusion that I'm expecting but rather leaves me a bit confused with the resolution.

And dare I say it?! There is an overabundance of sex in this story that becomes exceedingly perfunctory and bland as the dialogue mimics of late, Leopold's Wicked Embrace, Dimitri and Lost Embrace. And apparently everyone knows everybody's business in the bedroom! Jake's a stand in yet again scripted right out of Dimitri.

I digress...I can't say I liked this story or recommend it, yet I can't say I disliked it...Thus on the fence yet again. This series has left me on the fence quite often. I plan to see it through and read the next installment, Jake. I can only hope that it will not fall into the same category as the the last four books but I'm afraid I will be disappointed again when it does.

On my Were Scale of Hotness, 3 stars.

Jax is the seventh installment of Kym Grosso’s Immortals of New Orleans series. The story can be read as a standalone, however, I find that it is more enjoyable to read this series in order since each one ends with Grosso’s trademark epilogue that acts as a segue to her next book.

The main characters are Jax and Katrina, and they were introduced in previous books of the series. Jax is the Alpha of the Agrestis Wolves. He is pure testosterone. Jax is dominant; he rules with an iron fist but has a sense of justice. He’s lived a long life, and with all that he has seen, he has become mature and learned how to fairly rule his pack without ever looking like a softy. Katrina is the daughter and sister of an Alpha. You’d think she would have figured out that the Alpha is in charge of the pack, but she can’t help putting her assertive side out there. She is mostly feisty and challenging, but she has become the victim of a mysterious force which has drained her physically and emotionally. Several favorite characters from the series have been seamlessly woven into Jax’s story. Mick Germaine, a warlock, is new to the series. He is into the ladies, quirky and a bit of recluse.

The story is set in New York and New Orleans. The plot of Jax is fast paced and filled with action. Quintessentially Grosso, the story is replete with high sexual tension, exotic toys and steamy erotic scenes. Grosso has also added in tidbits of NOLA history and lore into the story. There are plenty of details in the story and the scenes so that readers feel they are in New Orleans with Jax and Katrina. Grosso is adept at creating a sense of foreboding and slowly building the story tension to its ultimate culmination. The twist at the end is quite a shocker! In true Grosso style, there is a scintillating, epic epilogue to which fans have grown accustom. Thankfully, the epilogue in Jax does not have a cliff-hanger feel to it.

Was there another Immortal that I could fall for, oh yes and here is the sexiest of the wolves so far.

Jax Chandler Agrestis Wolves’ Alpha, is looking for revange on his kidnaping and that of Katrina Livingston whom he rescues from a fate worse then death.
Katrina was the one that a long time ago he thought was his mate, but things got in the way and they never connected, or did they.
He still finds that despite all the lies and all that happened he is attracted to Katrina and set out on a journey of discovery hoping he can trust her again and find what they felt once.
With Alpha blood running through her veins, Katrina Livingston’s shifter magic has been systematically stolen over time. She now is on the run from who wishes her harm, linking with Jax they both set out on finding out what is harming her and trying to kill Jax. With adventures between New Orleans and New York they set out on a adventure and also hoping that what they felt once was not just imagination but also real.
Will they be the mates they are supposed to be, will they survive what awaits them?????

What an amazing book 7 in this series, Jax Chandler is the Alpha of the Agrestis Wolves. His character is very dominant, he's written so well that you can literally feel his dominance come off the page.

Jax is out for blood after being kidnapped and tortured, while escaping he rescues, Katrina Livingston. Kat is a daughter of an alpha her brother, Tristan is the current alpha of the Lyceum Wolves. There is a history between Kat and Jax, he's been drawn to her since the first night they met, but Kat spreads lies about Jax trying to keep him away from her. Kat has secrets and Jax wants answers.

Kat is on the run from demonic forces that are trying to steal her magic, the only person she can turn to for help is Jax, and he is determined to have her submit to him, give in to her desires.

This book is scorching HOT, like the others, it is filled with great dialogue between amazing characters. Every page reveals more of the mystery of what is happening to Kat, you can't put it down. Every book in this series gets better, if you've not read it you are truly missing out.

Jax Chandler, Alpha of the Agrestis Wolves is captured and tortured by demons. Upon his escape, he helps free a fellow victim, Katrina Livingston, the woman he suspects is his mate and has caused him nothing but grief. The two are determined to put a stop to the demons’ plan.

Kym Grosso’s Jax is an exciting and action-packed novel that is full of unexpected twist.

I like both Jax and Katrina. They have an intense chemistry. They are both strong and determined. Their characters are well-developed and believable.

I found the conversations between Jax, Jake and Finn humorous. I also, appreciated Jax’ pep talk to his wolves. There are definitely many amusing conversations and comment throughout the book.

The plot is substantial. I love that it draws in character from the previous books. There are a lot of clever things that happen that keep the story full of suspense. The epilogue was intriguing, making me anxious for the next book.

What a fantastic book! Jax is another great book in the Immortal of New Orleans series but can be read as a standalone. I prefer to read them all in order just so I know everyone's back stories but totally not necessary.

This book is full of adventure, friendships that can't be broken, Alpha men, strong women and some HOT sex that only Kym Grosso can write.

Jax and Katrina are Alpha wolves. Jax is the Alpha of his pack and Katrina is the daughter and and sister of Alphas. They are kidnapped. Jax learns that this is not the first time Katrina has been kidnapped and the kidnappers are stealing her magic. He vows to find the kidnappers and find out what they want with him and Katrina. As feeling develop he must figure out if Katrina is his mate.

Who are the kidnappers? Why are they targeting Jax and Katrina? Can they defeat them? Is Katrina his mate?

Kym's books just keep getting better and better. I was looking forward to Jax's book and I wasn't disappointed. This book was full of twists and turns and magic and mysteries and let's not forget sexy wolves! The way this woman weaves a story just keeps you hanging on every page. I stayed up past my bedtime a couple nights because I could not pull myself away. I don't know what else she can thow at us but I look forward to finding out. I highly recommend this book! Can be read as a stand alone but if you read the whole series you get a better feel for the world Kym has created and the characters... you won't know who you love more!

They Don't Know The Truth

This is a hot, action packed read with murder, deception, intrigue and angst. Jax and Katrina have been at odds from the first time they met all because of what had been told to Katrina. Jax doesn't trust her because he thinks she lied about him to her brother. But things aren't as they seem to be. These two are going to have to get past hearsay and trust each other to save her. Enjoy I did.

I spent my afternoon engrossed in this book! I will say it was an amazing ride! Kym Grosso has written another wonderful chapter to the Immortals of New Orleans. Kym writes such awesome characters and some very sexy love scenes!

Jax Chandler and Katrina Livingston make for one hot couple.......Alpha meets Alpha...watch the sparks fly! Can Kat survive giving up control to Jax? Can Jax find redemption with Kat? So many twists but oh so worth reading! this may be my favorite of the series!

My Favorite Series

I am a fan of many in this genre and this series is one of my favorites. Up there with BDB for me. I am a Louisiana native and love stories set in my beautiful and historical state. After the first book I was hooked. It's not just the sexy parts but also the great, exciting story line.

Great story that keeps you turning pages.
Action packed, steamy.
I loved Jax and Kat, especially Kat. Exactly who Jax needed
Now can they solve her problem.
As always we get great characters, including previous characters
I love the way Kym sucks us in and makes us want more.

This book is hard to rate. I have some issues with it but there was almost a magical scavenger hunt that was somewhat interesting.

We realized several books ago that Jax wasn't a bad guy, and that he wasn't likely to be the type to force a female to mate with him as Katrina had led Tristan to believe. Obviously, there had to be more to the story and that had to be explained. However, it did seem like that explanation was just one of the ways the writer decided to change her mind about how she had left characters previously.

For example, Ilsbeth, is she good or is she bad? The characters here go into several discussions about not many people being all good or all bad. And no, most aren't. However, when (spoiler for previous book) a witch has essentially hexed your close wolf friend so that his wolf is dying so he will lose his fated mate and be with her, this isn't really someone you want to side with. That's pretty darn bad. I mean, you don't forgive a guy's ex when she cheated on him in romances, you certainly shouldn't forgive someone for doing what she did. Even in books before that one, she seemed off. She seemed shady.

Then there was the death of the vampire that sold out the h in the previous story. I can't remember her name. Now, they think she has disappeared after they knew Lady Charlotte killed her in front of multiple characters in the last book. Somehow, everyone has forgotten that.

Also, there is Samantha who has been pregnant since book 2? It is stated she would only be pregnant 6 months. But this book is saying there has been 3 years since book 2 and this one and Samantha is still pregnant. The timeline here doesn't add up in any logical way.

I've seen a couple of comments about this series being misogynistic. I didn't really think that much of it prior to this book but all of a sudden, women can't be alphas. It is a big deal in this book that Katrina is sister, daughter, and mate of alphas. Apparently, that's unusual. I guess she can create the world in any way that she likes, but since alphaness runs in families, it makes sense she would have a father and brother who are both alpha. It also makes sense she would be alpha. But nope. Even though in book 2, I think, the Philadelphia wolves had a female alpha, by this book that isn't possible??? That definitely falls into the sexist category.

There are definitely some hot sex scenes. Although, they are not that dissimilar from the ones in the last 2 or 3 books.

While there are some good aspects in these books, and it is hard to find good PNRs on Kindle Unlimited - especially ones that are set in a mostly normal society, this series is lacking. There's definitely a spark missing. The 3rd person POV gets me crazy, too, especially when she jumps within a section. She does that far less often now. The books are repetitive and there are large portions with conversations between characters that don't help the plot, don't add value, and are just boring. And frequently, repetitive.

I wanted to read Jake's books since we already know him. I do like the characters enough to want to know what happens in their HEAs but I had planned to stop with Jake. However, Ms. Grosso has made it a much easier decision to stop - I will NOT pay for a book that isn't better organized and more original to the series than this. She made a mistake, IMO, with leaving KU. If I am going to spend money on books outside of KU, it's going to be on Jeanine Frost level PNR authors. If she brings the rest of her books to KU in the future, I might see if they have improved.

Patient but angry and determined Jax Chandler’s plan to get away from whoever dared take him works but as he escapes, he sees a beaten, bloodied, broken figure suspended from the ceiling and hears a moan. Of two minds about taking the figure with him before taking it down and tossing the limp body on his shoulder, then discovers it’s Katrina Livingston!

Katrina’s unable to help Jax help her as he makes it to one of his properties and breaks in aware his pack will come. While they wait, Katrina confesses they’d been kidnapped by demons, she can’t prove they regularly take her and sap her power and they can’t mate without causing Jax’ death.

When the pack arrives, they’re very against Katrina continuing to breathe, Jax has to reclaim his pack and names a beta. Disregarding the demons claim, the pair mate learn Ilsbeth fine hand was used in whatever is happening as Jax and Katrina desperately search for clues to who’s using Katrina and for what purpose.

To this reader’s taste, the pacing was too slow here because there were just too many words, too much exposition, repetition and poor Katrina was right at exhausting in word and deed! That said great megalomaniacal villain for the piece.

This book was great. I was just listening to the novel so it did take me sometime to read it but it was so good. The suspense of not knowing what was going to happen next really let me get into the novel and remember it on days I didn't get a chance to listen to it. Jax is the Alpha in New York and he has been at it for awhile. So when he meets his mate and she blows him off and then her brother starts throwing around accusations he knows that it isn't meant to be. But then she is in trouble and he can't help but go to her. Kat never wanted to hurt Jax but she had to protect him from the demons that keep taking her. They said he would die if they mated and she could not handle that. When they are thrust together they have no choice but to confront their feelings for each other and find a way to fix Kat before all is lost.
The novel was intriguing and hot. I loved all of it and can't wait to read Jake's story especially after reading the cliffhanger for this novel. It's gonna be intense!
