Charming set of stories. It's nice to a see a couple with believable spats who still like each other after 40+ years. It's a nice balance to a lot of the more cynical portrayals of marriage you see. A little heartwarming, mildly crude in an "old farts don't give a darn what you think" sort of way, and consistently funny.

A fun collection of short stories featuring Megan and Emmett, a couple that have been married for a very long time. The author has perfectly captured the interaction between two people who know each other inside out, who snipe at each other and bicker continuously, but still love each other very much. The end part of the story where they go grocery shopping together had me literally crying with laughter - this is exactly the kind of relationship I'm aiming for when my husband and I are old together! There are also a couple of extra short stories at the end of the book. All in all, a good, quick read to get away from the stresses of life for a while.

These amusing tales certainly brought a smile to my face.

They have a yester-year flavour. They tell of an old couple who still love each other despite their differences. Emmett is a traditional old man who is not terribly domesticated but he tries hard. Lucky for him his wife understands him and still loves him in her down-toned way. A trustworthy, light read.

This collection of short stories and flash fiction pieces tells the story of senior citizens Megan and Emmett. These are fun, quick stories that are easy to read. Some of the stories include their grandkids, and most involve their cat. This is a nice change of pace book to read between other series, where you want a lighter mood.

Do this, fix that, tidy this that and the other. All that nagging. Worst part is it's endless. Megan has no mute button and God knows her husband of forty years, Emmett would rejoice if she came with one.
Emmett is more of the laid back, chilled dad, husband and grandpa. He keeps Megan grounded and stops her from popping a vein. After counting down the time, all 8655 minutes, he is retired, and does some pretty important stuff while enjoying his days at home. Here is just a few of his antics: creating a raincoat for his granddaughter out of duct tape, or as the five year old calls it, 'duck tape'. His grocery shopping mission with his wife. Let's just say it cost them a carton of heavy cream. And I can't forget the time he put on his chef hat and decided to bake a cake for Megan. How sweet. The thought anyway. As for the cake......burn baby burn comes to mind.
I lived for the interactions between these two characters. However, I wished I got to see how the pranks played out. God knows I wanted to be there when Emmett stuffed his face with cookies and sweet toothpaste. Darn.
The story also introduces us to their daughter and two grandchildren. To clear the record, it wasn't tears in my eyes during the moment when they watched the video of Paul, husband and father who perished in a vehicle accident. It was.......sweat. Yeah, that's what it was. During the breezy night, somehow, I can't and won't explain, a few beads of sweat formed on my forehead, and casually rolled in my eyes. Sounds plausible enough. So you see they weren't tears people.
Laughs after laughs kept rolling out. Too bad I chose to read it at night..... I was being shushed and all. Try as I might (didn't try much) I couldn't suppress the laughs. The jokes in my opinions didn't seem forced and managed to effortlessly flow out of the mouths of the characters. Short and entertaining to the very end. I loved the read so til. Happy reading!

I read a lot of heavy stuff - literary classics, dark thrillers, textbooks - and so it's nice to come across light, funny stuff. And that's exactly what Kathy Steinemann's book, Nag Nag Nag is.

It's a collection of stories about a couple, Megan and Emmett, who've been married over 40 years. They know how to irritate each other, and frequently have fun doing so. But at the same time, they're still in love, which is evident not only by their bursts of passion, but in the way they irritate each other - it's loving and playful, not spiteful at all.

Throughout the book, readers discover humor in the mundane, from a camping trip with their grandkids, to a burglary of their house (foiled by their cat), to a simple trip to the grocery store. This humor is sweet, often crude, but realistic and refreshing.

Too short but a funny read.

There is some funny and touching moments but too few. I guess that was why it was free. The next one isn't but I hesitate in case it is as short.
