About the author

Jodie Bailey is the author of Quilted by Christmas, as well as two suspense novels, Freefall and Crossfire and a novella in Holiday Defenders. Her devotions have appeared in Fighting Fear: Winning the War at Home and Sweet Freedom with a Slice of Peach Cobbler. She is also a contributor to PWOC International’s e100 Bible study for military wives. Her memberships include American Christian Fiction Writers.

When not at the keyboard, Jodie is a former middle school literature teacher and yearbook adviser who is convinced a camping trip to the beach with her family, a good cup of coffee, and a great book can cure all ills. Jodie lives in North Carolina with her husband, her daughter, and two dogs.

I don’t typically read much military books, but this was such interesting! The plot was well done and action-packed, but some content might be too much for some readers.

Another great read from Jodie Bailey.

The story follows Sean, a character we first met in Smokescreen who is a cyber expert in a "special" Army team, and Jessica who is a strong confident and professional soldier. The author does a great job of presenting military characters without making them seem cartoonish or overly intense. She also addresses real issues, such as PTSD, which face soldiers today. She does so in a researched and realistic way. Too often, PTSD is portrayed in an overly dramatized "after school special" kind of a way that minimizes the very real struggle of everyday soldiers (and others) who live with it daily.

The storyline involves suspense (just enough), romance (sweet and believable), and the ultimate victory of the "good guys" in a story that is not devoid of faith. I feel could sit down and chat with the characters over a cup of coffee or possibly share a waiting room with them in the ID section on post.

I can't wait to see what Jodie has in store for us with her next endeavor.

I really enjoyed this book. It was full of page turning heart racing suspense. There were lots of twists and turns in the story line that kept you guessing to the end.

Jessica Dylan is a medic who is stationed stateside and is the target of cyber terrorists who have infiltrated her base and hacked her computer. Jessica's life is put in constant danger. The perpetrators will stop at nothing to fulfill their mission.

Sean Turner is assigned to help with the mission and protect Jessica while ferreting out those responsible for many sinister acts. Sean is also suffering from ptsd from his previous assignments.

The couple is drawn together by the chaotic dangerous events that ensue. They wonder if they can trust each other and question the possibility of establishing a relationship. Jessica also is dealing with her military father's lack of support in her life and career.

A real page turner for those who love romantic suspense.

Suspense lovers - this book is for you! This is the first book by Jodie Bailey that I have read but it won't be the last. In this novel, Staff sergeant Jessica Dylan is attacked when she catches a female soldier stealing her laptop on base. This act continues to spiral into question upon question as Jessica digs deeper into the conspiracy that seems to be going on at the base along with Sean Turner, who aids her when she is attacked. Why steal her military laptop? Why continue to attack Jessica? Is it only Jessica's safety or is it possibly the country's safety as well that is at stake? Twists and turns await you when you read this book!

This wasn't quite as suspenseful as I'd hoped, though I didn't figure out who the antagonist was until it was revealed. I disliked the constant reminders of how the romance shouldn't be allowed for the same reasons. The heroine made some really awful decisions for having seen some serious combat. The hero made some obvious bad choices, too, which really made me cringe. I did like that looks weren't mentioned a whole lot, that characters were praying and honest about their faith. Overall, this book wasn't bad, but it's not one I'll be reading again. If you love inspirational suspense romance, that's not too suspenseful, this might be a good book for you.

I started reading this book, even thought it’s #2 in the series. It was easy to follow along, and it had me hooked.

I loved both Sean and Jessica and their relationship. I loved how God came to Sean at one point in the book, to tell him that he wasn’t abandoning him, that He was here for Sean. (Minor spoiler, I guess? Sorry!)

All in all, a very clean book with nothing bad in it. I loved it, and I highly recommend it.

FANTASTIC!!!!!!!

This is an awesome book, but scary at the same time!!! There are untold horrors that our men and women have in the millitary!!!! This book may be fiction but it may be closer to the truth than any of us can ever imagine. Good job to the author!!!!!

From the very first page, there is non-stop action throughout this book's pages. Bailey has weaved a wonderful story on its own, but I love that she has incorporated some familiar characters from her previous books, too. Jessica and Sean, the two main characters, are well-developed and each have realistic challenges to overcome on these pages. Each time I thought I had the plot figured out, there was more action and unfolding drama that I wasn't expecting. I really enjoyed the constant plot twists! Bailey is bringing a long-overdue voice to the trauma of post traumatic stress disorder in her writing, and it is sure to be received well by the many who live with or love those who have this diagnosis. Having read Bailey's previous books, I can honestly say that this is her best yet! I did receive a copy of this book in return for an honest review, and it's honestly great!

I'm horrible. I received this book earlier this year and just finally had time to read.
That being said, as with any of her previous work, I loved the book. Jodie's plots always have me more interested in them than whether or not the characters get together.
I love her well thought out plots and her obvious research into military life, processes and procedures. Having been a military wife and still closely associated with the military, I appreciate that type of research and dedication to getting it right.

While the character Sean stems from her previous work, Smokescreen, you do no need to have read that book to read this. They both are standalone and both great reads.

If you're looking for a quick read with a good mystery, well thought out plot with a little bit of love thrown in, this is your book and even better, your author.

COMPROMISED IDENTITY is another fast-paced romantic suspense. While the hero and heroine weren't kept running they were kept guessing, as the heroine's "safe places" were breached despite all precautions taken. The military has been somehow infiltrated, but why, and how? Who were the real enlisted and who were part of the ring of terrorists? And who were they really targeting?

I read this book through in a Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. I was kept guessing who the "bad guy" might be, and who and what they were after. A great read. If you like romantic suspense, you'll want to read COMPROMISED IDENTITY.

Jody Bailey has done another good job writing an amazing suspense! Tons of action that keeps you guessing and checking your windows.
Jessica Dylan catches a soldier in her office, at the base, trying to steel her computer and gives chase. When Jessica tries to confront her thief another attacker tries to kill her in broad daylight.
Sean Turner arrives just in time to thwart her would be killers, who don't even seem to be afraid that witnesses are present, to try and kill her.
Whether Jessica likes it or not he's sticking with her like glue until they can figure out what's going and hopefully before time runs out!

I know when I pick up a book by this author that I am in for a roller coaster ride, and this one is no exception. This author certainly knows how to combine wonderful characters with suspense, action, romance and faith and write a story that keeps you turning pages to see what is going to happen next. She also includes in this story what it must be like to live with PSTD and how affects not only the person but those that are around them. I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review, and I thoroughly enjoyed it and it is another one of Jodie's that I definitely recommend.

Another great, fast-paced military suspense by Jodie Bailey. She is quickly becoming one of my favourite LIS authors!

This follows on from and focuses on Sean Turner.

I recommend reading Smokescreen first, as that provides a lot of the back story for this book.

This book is as amazing as its predacessor, "Smokescreen!" These two books intertwine so be sure to read "Smokescreen" first. These stories had a wonderful mix of intrigue, humor, romance and explosive moments. Can not wait for the next Jodie Bailey read. Rest assured, I have a new favorite author! Love this story and its twists and turns-some I never saw coming. Awesome read!

This book gives you non stop suspense Jessica Dylan and Sean Turner work to solve a mystery of worldwide consequence.
The characters were well developed and the storyline was awesome.
We see God's love and protection intertwined throughout the book.
