Bedding the Bad Boy #1-3

Good Girl Vs. Bad Boy: The Marine Meets His Match

Rate this book
Let the battle of the sexes begin... He's hot, wild, unpredictable, untamable, and her best friend's older brother.

Colton Brody is everything a good girl like Phoebe Page should avoid. But since her sister Kelly's death, Phoebe isn't as worried about being good as she used to be. She wants to live big with no regrets, the way Kelly did, and she intends to start with having a top secret, super steamy, no-strings-attached holiday fling with the man she's crushed on her entire life.

What could go wrong?

Except everything?

Wounded in action and discharged without a chance to prove himself, all Colton cares about is getting back into the Marine Corps where he belongs. He will not get sucked into small town drama, will not take that promotion at the firehouse, and certainly won't fall in love with his little sister's best friend. He's down for friends-with-benefits, nothing more, and plans to leave town long before quirky, bossy, cute-as-a-button Phoebe can get under his skin.

He's in control.

At least until a certain sexy brunette turns his world upside down.

It isn't long before Colton finds himself buying flowers, talking feelings, and wishing Phoebe wanted more than another night of hot, no-holds-barred sex. Because when he's with Phoebe even hot and dirty feels like making love.

Now Colton will have to decide what's worth fighting for--the dreams a plane crash stole from him or the dream he's holding in his arms.

WARNING: Good Girl vs. Bad Boy contains a mix of heart-warming romance, quirky characters, laugh out loud moments, and blisteringly hot banging. If you don't like hot sex, laughter, mentions of humping unicorns, turkey bowling, off-beat town rituals, or graphic descriptions of artisanal pancakes, steer clear.

**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

Your going to need kevlar panties for this one girls!!!!

This is the epic beginning of another series by Jessie that should not be missed. Seriously, you will be fighting for the Brody men.

Colten (Colt) is a marine that has been discharged on medical grounds but has been fighting too get back ever since.

Phoebe has returned home after the death of her sister, but always ends up having a mishap some where leading to her embarrassment, hence the reunion of Colt and Phoebe on cold snowey morning.

The attraction between the two leaps off the pages and the chemistry has the pages turning by themselves as the pair are so hot I'm surprised the pages didn't self-combust.

Colt is a complete sweetie with a naughty side and happens to bring out the best in Phoebe and vice versa.

We get an introduction to Tucker, who the next book is for, the brother that has loved and lost and so you already really want him to get a happy ending.

Its yet another series that you just know is going to have you routing for each and every character.

ARC Review:

Have mercy ! Jessie Evans always knows how to steal her readers heart while setting it on fire all at the same time !

Good Girl vs. Bad Boy focuses on Colton/Colt Brody, a Marine who has returned home after suffering an injuring and is now working toward finding a way past his own anger.

Phoebe Page has returned to Lover's Leap, Colorado to take over her sister Kelly's store and legacy. After her sisters death, Phoebe is determined to live her life more carefree like her sister Kelly did, and enjoy life enough for the both of them.

What Phoebe doesn't count on is Colton Brody. The first boy she ever had a crush on, and the one man who could break her heart.

Evans does an amazing job of dealing with sensitive issues, showing the strength of both of these outstanding characters, all the while adding enough heat between them to burn the pages while you read them.

Absolutely loved Colt and Phoebe's story, and can not wait for more !!!

This book is a stand-alone made to a series of different side characters.

In this book we have Phoebe, she's just came back to Lover's Leap. She's independent, fun and spunky. After losing her sister, she decides that time is too short to waste, so she makes up her mind about going after her best friends brother Colton.
Colton has had lots of struggles after being discharged from the military due to an injury. Colton has been training to get back in the military and prove everyone wrong that thought he was down and out.

Some parts of the book were over descriptive, but otherwise, it flowed well and there were some really silly fun times. If you've ever heard of the book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day?? If you have, that constitutes Phoebe's life as the adult version. Once her and Colton get together the sparks fly off the pages.

This is my first time reading this author and I really even liked the side characters too, so I would read the next books in the series.

Raise of hands—who’s a complete and total sucker for a “falling in love with a best friend’s sibling” book? Both of mine are up! And Good Girl vs. Bad Boy doesn’t disappoint!

Phoebe Page is determined to make a life for herself back in her hometown. She’s still grieving the accidental death of her sister, Kelly, but she wants to start taking risks, live life to the fullest just like Kelly did. Perhaps the first step, besides re-opening Kelly’s eclectic shop, is to have a hot and steamy fling with Colton Brody—the man she’s had a massive crush on forever. Colton isn’t sticking around—and they’ll keep it a secret, right…because he’s her best friend’s brother!

Colton is singularly focused on getting back in shape and back in action in the Marine Corps. He was medically discharged after a plane crash, but with a new ruling, Colton could be reinstated. Colton misses the Marine life. It’s been his dream for so long—he doesn’t know who he is without being a Marine. Until Phoebe turns his world upside down.

Feelings neither one expected to have for the other are messing with both Phoebe and Colton’s plans. And holy hell, the steamy sex…there’s nothing like it. So what to do? Will Colton and Phoebe move forward together, or will Colton’s dream of returning to the Marines win out?

I really enjoyed this book. I laughed, I sighed, I swooned. I changed my panties—too many times to count. The predicaments Phoebe finds herself in were some of the best scenes in the book—especially when Colton would come to her rescue or defense. I really loved the characters too, not that I didn’t want to slap them upside the head a few times to knock some sense into them.

I can’t wait for Tucker’s story… these Brody Brothers are going to be fun! ~ Missy, 4.5 stars

~~~
I was so looking forward to getting my hands on Jessie Evans’ latest book. I am a BIG fan of her cowboys (the Lonesome Point, Texas series…one-click it, people), and this one intrigued me from the flirty title to the funny warning. I expected sassy, sexy and fun. And I got exactly that.
Back in her small town after losing her sister, Kelly, Phoebe Page is trying to live her life differently. More excitingly. Like Kelly would have, if she was still around. And the best way to get start on that? A no-strings fling with Colton Brady, her best friend’s gorgeous older brother.
Colton isn’t interested in more than a quick, steamy roll in the sheets anyway. Wounded while serving, he’s determined to get back into the Marine Corps and out of his stifling small town. Except there’s something about Phoebe that has Colton thinking less about the Marines and more about more.
First he has to convince her that he wants more than just sex…and then he’ll have to decide if having the good girl is worth more than fighting the good fight.
I really enjoyed this book. Honestly, it was funny-as-hell in places, from Colton and Phoebe’s adorable meet-(again)-cute, to her tendency to get into embarrassing, ridiculous and sometimes life-threatening situations. It was impossible not to smile and/or laugh every time Phoebe said or did something that highlighted her unluckiness—and that made her one of the most charming characters I’ve happened across recently.
Colt wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but he was swoony perfect—handsome, kind, caring and *sigh* a hero. While there’s a touch of bad boy about him, it wasn’t as much as I might have expected from the title—not that that is a bad thing. Like I said, SWOONY PERFECT. And regardless of what you title this book, there is one thing you can most definitely call it: a damn good book.
There was just so much to love about Good Girl vs. Bad Boy. The gentle melancholy that Kelly wasn’t there for Phoebe. The wonderful visual of humping unicorn pajamas. The coffin race—I had Gilmore Girls-esque small town events in my mind—which was super fun. And most especially the engaging secondary characters. Colt’s not the only Brady, and each of them need to get a story—starting with Tucker, I think. I’m hoping for more sassy, sexy and fun…and maybe some more swoony perfect. ~ Beth, 4.5 stars
Good Girl VS. Bad Boy is book 1 in Jessie Evans new Brody Brothers series. This is an outstandingly entertaining introduction to the characters of Lover’s Leap, Colorado and it will take you from literally laughing out loud to moments that will leave you with tears welling up in your eyes or biting your nails. There are so many great characters here and with such a capturing storyline it didn't take me long to feel like I was becoming part of a new family.
Phoebe grew up in a small town and has always had a crush on Colton, her best friend’s older brother. But there have always been problems or obstacles including her propensity for mishaps and bad luck which he always seemed to be around to witness. When Phoebe returns home after the death of her sister her luck hasn’t changed, and when she is suddenly locked out of her home and left in an awkward position, it is Colton who unexpectedly shows up and rescues her. As soon as their eyes meet, Phoebe senses those old feelings for him return but unfortunately knows that Colton has never seen her as anything more than his little sister’s friend and the good girl she has always been.
Colton has never been in a relationship that lasted longer than a few nights of lust. When he happens upon Phoebe in a surprising and embarrassing predicament, he is surprised to feel some inner feelings stirring within himself as well. But after having returned from the Marines injured, his main focus is to heal and return to duty. He doesn’t have time for any kind of a relationship nor does he want to risk leaving Phoebe with a broken heart. But as their lives begin to intermingle and their attraction to one another increases, they both agree that a simple relationship of some intimate fun with no lingering or emotional ties is exactly what they are looking for.
But as the time they spend together becomes more frequent, although Phoebe tries to keep it under control her childhood crush ultimately metamorphoses into the love she always knew was there. Colton’s feelings also begin to intensify, and he starts to see more in her than just the girl he knew growing up. Now the increasing connection Colton feels with Phoebe leaves him questioning his need to return to the life he knew and risk losing the possibility of a life spent intertwined in Phoebe’s arms and woven together with her heart.
Colton and Phoebe's story was so much fun I found myself almost continuously grinning as I flipped through page after page, chapter after chapter. As I turned the final page it left me with an exuberant feeling of happiness and contentment. The emotional joining between Colton and Phoebe was apparent from the inception of this book despite their attempts at trying to hide it from one another. They also shared some hot and electrifying moments together as well which made the depth of their connection more and more ostensible as the story progressed. Good
Girl VS. Bad Boy is replete with entertaining and hilarious situations they find themselves in as well as the moments which will leave you fanning yourself from the hot sexy passion they share together.
Jessie Evans has done it again giving us new fun loving and passionate characters. I was completely drawn into these characters’ live feeling like I was making some new friends. I am so looking forward to more of the Brody Brothers series as Jessie has dangled some new hunky heroes in front of our noses, and I am already excited and anticipating their stories of passion and love.
Good Girl Vs. Bad Boy isn't the first book I have read from Jessie Evans and it won't be the last. I have really enjoyed a lot of Jessie's books and GGVBB had a lot of really great moments. Unfortunately it wasn't my favorite from her, but I really think that is a personal thing here rather than it being the story itself. I think a lot of readers will really enjoy this book, and it is very possible that this book just wasn't meant for me.
Phoebe Page has always been the good girl. But after losing her sister, she is ready to live her life and not focus on being so good anymore. So when she runs into her best friend's older brother (the guy she has crushed on her whole life), she wants nothing more than to have a sexy holiday fling with him. After getting injured, Colton Brody has worked hard to find a way to get back in action with the Marines. The last thing he needs to do is put down roots or get attached to his little sister's best friend. But Phoebe isn't the same girl he remembered, and before long she is getting under his skin. But can Colton give up the dream of returning to the Marines for a chance at a future with Phoebe, and if he chooses to fight for her can he convince Phoebe to take a risk on more than just a fling with him?
I did like Phoebe and Colton, and it was easy to see that these two definitely had a friendship between them. But while Phoebe had wanted more from Colton for years, Colton didn't seem to really notice her until she was all grown up. I thought that they did have chemistry between them and the more time they spent together the more their connection grew. But as must as I liked these two, I just didn't really feel connected to them or invested in their story. A lot of that was the fact that this entire book and Phoebe's character were so quirky that it was just hard for me to really get into. I didn't feel like I could relate to her, even though she was likable enough.
I also felt like while the humor and some of the quirkiness was okay, this one got a little over the top for me. While there was a warning in the blurb about a few of the crazier things, the rest of the blurb made this book sound like something a bit different than what it actually was. For me this one wasn't what I had been expecting or hoping for, and so no matter how funny or cute some moments were it just wasn't a book that I really loved. I think that Jessie Evans is a great writer though, and I really believe that this was just a case of it's not you, it's me. If you are looking for a quirky romance and don't mind some over the top antics, I would recommend giving this one a shot.
Phoebe Page has moved home to Lover's leap Colorado and right back in close contact with her best friend's brother and her teen crush. She is literally a walking disaster and often seems to find herself in precarious situations. She's trying to live a little and start a new life in her home town.
Colton Brody is a wounded Marine vet turned firefighter who is working hard to rejoin the Corps. He's got plans and they do not involve staying home or having a relationship. But he finds a spark with her. And they are both craving a bit of sexy times, but don't want attachments..or don't think they do...
A fling...a set expiration date...no feelings...no change in their friendship or with his family....It can work, right?
She's a good, sweet, goofy girl, but lets her wild side free with him. They share a witty rapport and humor. He's serious, focused, and likes control, but she distracts him and brings out emotions in him. He's always been a playboy and has never been the type to settle down. He lives for adrenaline and does not let anything stop him. He's got a bit of a bad boy edge, dirty talking mouth, but is finding out that he has a weakness too.
Will they find a way to make it work or will they crash and burn?
This was a fast, sweet, funny romantic read. I laughed out loud at some of the antics and humorous situations. Phoebe and Colt were funny and likable. I could feel their connection and chemistry. I liked getting both of their points of view.
The side characters especially her friend and his sister Daisy and their brother Tucker added comic relief, ass kicking, and advice. There area few more brother Blake and Dylan and a cousin Seth who could also be the subject of more books in this series. The brothers especially all seem to have women problems and Daisy seems to have her own issues as well.
When Phoebe Page returns home to Lover's Leap, Colorado, she vows that she will take life by the horns, live like there's no tomorrow, and have no regrets. And she's off to a good start, she really is, until locking herself out of her house in her x-rated pajamas ends with her in the arms of none other than Colton Brody. Phoebe has been in love with Colton forever, but, to Colton, Phoebe's always been just another little sister. Now, though, he's seeing her in a whole new light, and all of his set-in-stone plans seem not quite so foolproof.
Seeing the unexpected death of her sister as her wake-up call, Phoebe wants to celebrate her sister's memory by making the most of every day now that she's back in Lover's Leap. When she and Colton, a wounded warrior turned Lover's Leap fireman, reconnect, there are sparks aplenty. And, though Phoebe and Colton start out as friends with benefits, it isn't long before they both want more.
Any book that Jessie Evans writes is an immediate go-to for me. I have loved all of her series, enjoying especially the small town closeness, the importance of family, and the sure-to-be-found shenanigans in each of them. GOOD GIRL VS. BAD BOY has all of these things in abundance, and I could not have enjoyed it more. I found myself laughing out loud and fanning myself by turn, because not only is there abundant humor, there is steam by the boatload between these two. 5+ stars for Phoebe, Colton, and the rest of the Lover's Leap crew. I can't wait to see what Jessie has on tap for the other Brody's, but have no doubt that it will be worth the wait.
The moment I noticed this cover I was instantly pulled in to read the blurb. A good girl going up against a bad boy she’s known her entire life, count me in. What I did not expect was the raw emotion that Jessie Evans would give us as well. This book absorbed my full attention from start to finish. I just had to know what went down next.
Luckily, Jessie Evans gave us as much funny as hell and hot and steamy as she did serious. Her lead Phoebe just couldn’t keep herself from getting into one funny predicament after another. I was constantly wiping my tears from laughing at what Phoebe Page said or did. Jessie Evans did a fantastic job at keeping this story fun with some real life situations tangled in the mix.
The moment these to crash into one another after not seeing each other for years had me rolling. What woman would want the man she has crushed on since she was a child to catch her in his arms only to have him not know who she was at first? I was mortified for Phoebe and laughing my butt off at how it went down. Poor girl is all I can say.
Falling in love with your best friend’s older brother should not have been in the cards for Phoebe Page, but she just could not help it. Even when she knew what a player, Colton Brody was. But chemistry is chemistry and these two had it and then some. I loved when they tried to deny their feelings.
The scene with Sir Licks-a-Lot had me laughing so hard I could not breathe. I will never forget that scene. NOT EVER!
I may have not known who Jessie Evans was before this book but she most definitely is on my radar now. I cannot wait for book two and more crazy family shenanigans.
This book was just unbelievably awesome. It had just the right amount of everything… Colt,the youngest Brody son – wounded military man, back home in Lover’s Leap. He’s trying to get his body and his mind where it needs to be so the Marines will see fit to re-enlist him, prosthetic leg be damned.
Phoebe Page lost her beloved sister in a freak accident and knows her life will never be the same. But she’s trying to pick up where she left off with her quirky house, her novelty shop and her pet skink – Sir Licks-A-Lot, who has been missing for about a month.
Colt and Phoebe have grown up together with Daisy, Colt’s little sister and Phoebe’s best friend as the common denominator. After Phoebe is locked out of her house one winter day wearing nothing but zombie slippers and NSFW unicorn pajamas… well, the hilarity ensues.
As I said earlier – this book just had the right mix of everything. It was very funny, extremely sexy (good God, Colt could dirty talk any woman right out of her panties!), and with just enough drama to make sure you couldnt put it down until you had it finished. It wasnt a heavy read and that’s ok, sometimes that is just what I need. The characters were very well developed and described and the storyline flowed along perfectly. I had never heard of the book or the author before but Jessie Evans is DEFINITELY on my radar now and I am not-so-patiently waiting Tucker’s story which comes out in February.
I give Good Girl vs. Bad Boy 5*****wickedgoodstars -asw I LOVED IT!!
After her sister Kelly's death, Phoebe has moved back home from Chicago. She was always the good girl, while Kelly was wild and lived BIG. Now she wants to live her life the way Kelly did, with no regrets. Colton is her best friend's older brother that she has had a crush on most of her life. Colt wants nothing but to prove himself so he can get back into the Marines.
"He will not get sucked into small town drama, will not take that promotion at the firehouse, and certainly won't fall in love with his little sister's best friend. He's down for friends-with-benefits, nothing more, and plans to leave town long before quirky, bossy, cute-as-a-button Phoebe can get under his skin."
"It isn't long before Colton finds himself buying flowers, talking feelings, and wishing Phoebe wanted more than another night of hot, no-holds-barred sex. Because when he's with Phoebe even hot and dirty feels like making love."
Phoebe seems to be a klutz, but she never blames others for her disasters. She can always link it back to certain things she has done that put her in that situation. She is a hoot and I truly enjoyed reading her story. This is going to be another AWESOME series by the very talented Ms. Jessie Evans. I can hardly wait for the next book in the series.
Good Girl VS. Bad Boy: The Marine Meets His Match by Jessie Evans is the first book in her new series The Brody Brothers and is a short, magical read that I absolutely adored.
Phoebe has crushed on her best friend Daisy's brother Colton for as long as she can remember. She is back in Lovers Leap, Colorado following her sisters death and is planning on staying and taking over her sisters business.
Colton is back too. After being wounded and discharged from the Marines he has now taken up a job as a local firefighter while he rehabs enough to get back into the Marines.
When accident prone Phoebe literally falls into Colton's arms his little sisters best friend is more woman than he realized and things start to get heated between the two of them. Can they keep it just about having a good time? or will Colotn's plans to leave and return to the Marines break both of them.
Funny, heartwarming, and steamy this book takes a perfectly imperfect pair from friends to lovers and beyond. LOVED IT - Jessie Evans is a MUST read author for me - ALWAYS!
This is the first time I read Jessie Evans, and I really loved it.
Phoebe Page has just come back to Lover's Leap. She's had a thing for her best friend's brother Colton, but he never saw her like that, until she literally falls into his arms. Since her sister's death, she doesn't care about being good anymore, and isn't really looking for a relationship, so she tries to become 'friends with benefits" with him. Colton Brody is a wounded marine that was discharged before he could prove himself, so his whole focus is to train to get back there. He's not going to get sucked in to small town drama, and definitely has no desire to get involved with any woman. After they spend some time together, will Colton still be able to walk away from Phoebe?
I laughed so hard at Phoebe, as I have experienced so many of her crazy accidents. My stomach actually hurt the next day after I finished this book. The character development is great, and a well written storyline flows smoothly. The chemistry flew out of my kindle, and the SMOKIN HOT sexy scenes are hot flash worthy. Jessie Evans has serious talent writing the hysterically funny scenes. My one issue is that I thought the ending is a bit rushed, but I will be reading more of this awesome author in the future!
It was sweet but predictable. Predictable isn't a bad thing, especially when you throw in some pretty funny stuff.
Yet again, this is a case of falling for a best friend's brother who Phoebe has had a crush on since high school. They reconnect in a cute way, but there it is... sex once and they're in love, even though both expressed no desire to get emotionally attached.
I just wish for a book that allows readers to feel how the characters connect emotionally before they drop the l-bomb out of the blue.
That said, I did like both Phoebe and Colt. Separately, they were a little bland, but together, they were cute, sweet and pretty perfect. If only the romance had drawn out a bit longer. Three days was a little rushed but not completely unbelievable since they knew each other before now. Still...
It was easy reading and enjoyable overall. My hang ups about the fast declarations aside, I bet most people will enjoy it.
Sweet. Light. Steamy.
Evans brings humor and light to a determined hero and a heroine with terrible luck. I found myself snickering and chuckling throughout this book. I mean, the little things that happen to Pheobe from her reintroduction to Colt to how they finally "get together" just cracked me up.
It's a cute story with loads of steam in this "best friend's older brother turned friends with benefits" story. This quick read is a great beach read or by the fire read.
Snuggle up with Colt, Pheobe, the rest of the cast of Lover's Leap, and some peppermint hot cocoa.
"I knew what I wanted, even back then. And I certainly do now.”
“And what do you want?” he asked, his voice husky.
“I want you,” she said, holding his gaze as her nails raked slowly down his bare shoulders. “All of you, so don’t hold back.”
Having recently lost her sister, Phoebe Page has a new outlook on life. Sick of playing it safe, she's resolved to take a page out of her sister's book and live life to the fullest and not worry about the consequences. And what better way to kick off this resolution than to enjoy a hot, no-strings-attached fling with the man she's been crushing on her whole life?
Colton Brody is shocked to see the bossy little girl he used to know has grown into a beautiful woman. And he's definitely on board when she mentions her proposition, but he's determined to keep his heart out of their tryst. Although he was discharged from the marines after losing his leg, he has every intention of getting his job back, and he doesn't need the distraction of a new relationship getting in the way. But Phoebe begins stirring unfamiliar feelings in him, and before long she's got him questioning whether the future he's been so set on reclaiming is actually the one that's meant to be.
He was fooling himself if he thought he could keep his emotional distance from a woman he cared about as much as he cared about Phoebe. If he took his clothes off with her, his armor would be coming off as well, and that’s the one thing he couldn’t risk.
I don't know what went wrong here. This had the perfect recipe to be exactly my kind of book, but something just didn't click with me. For whatever reason, I wasn't crazy about the characters. There wasn't anything wrong with them really, they just weren't my favorite and I didn't feel very invested in their love story. Also, the book is not very long at all. It's closer in page number to a novella, and yet it felt like a full-length novel. I think that's a pretty clear indicator of my feelings for it.
Now that she and Colt were both grown up, she had a sneaking suspicion that her feelings for him could swiftly become more serious than a crush and that no matter how many times she told herself not to get attached, she was going to miss him when he was gone.
This was pretty much your typical friends-with-benefits-turns-into-something-more storyline. I've read plenty of books with a similar plot and there was nothing about this one that made it particularly special. The one thing that did make it differ from others was actually something that worked against it, and that is the fact that things progressed way too quickly between them. The whole book takes place over the span of just a few days. Usually with a plotline like this, they're in the "no strings attached" arrangement for a while before feelings start developing. It didn't take long here. And I guess you can argue that they've known each other all their lives, and certainly Phoebe already having a crush on him definitely sped things along, but it still felt like it happened too fast. Especially from Colton's side. He didn't have romantic feelings for her in the past, and then a few days after reconnecting he's ready to not only spend the rest of his life with her, but also rearrange all his future plans for her.
I didn't really care for the humor here either. A few parts were kind of funny but a lot of it is very over-the-top and pretty weird. And there was a lot of pee related humor (yes, you read that right) which is just not my jam. I also really really hated Phoebe's attitude at the end. Her behavior made me like her character even less than I already did. She acted like a petulant, moody child.
So overall, I definitely didn't hate this book, but I didn't really enjoy it all that much either. I wouldn't recommend it but I also don't regret reading it. So I guess it falls somewhere right in the middle. Not great but not terrible. Would I read more by this author? Sure I would! Her writing was not bad, and I've been interested in her Lonesome Point, Texas series for a while, so I will give that a try one day and see if it's more to my liking.
I love Jessie Evans and her books. I've read them all and to say that I was extremely excited about Good Girl VS Bad Boy is an understatement. The Brody Brothers are hot and I love these characters. Phoebe returns home after her sister's death and she literally falls into the arms of the man she had a childhood crush on - her best friend's brother. She's determined to live more like her free spirit sister did, doing things that feel right and not being so good. Brody was wounded in action and discharged from the Marines. He's a firefighter just counting down the days until he can get back to active duty. When he catches Phoebe and she later propositions him to a no-strings affair, he's determined not to fall for her and get stuck in his home town. But, he wants to enjoy her body and her quirky personality. When things get more emotional will Colt leave town? Will Phoebe be enough for him? I loved this story! Colton and Phoebe are sexy, funny and hot. I laughed out loud and even shed a few tears. And in between I was fanning myself and changing my panties. Colton Brody is sexy as sin with a body to die for and a dirty mouth. I'm claiming him for myself!
Jessie has done it again! Make sure you're along for the ride!
She was the good girl he couldn’t have imagined falling for back in his crazier days, but with a wild side she reserved just for him.
Just for him.
“No, I don’t. And I don’t mind you riding my ass.” He paused before adding in a wicked whisper, “Though I prefer you riding my cock.”
When he was buried inside of her, her softness melting around where he was hot and hard, there was no doubt who she belonged to.
I truly truly loved this one and was surprised, give me a hot alpha and add a military man to it...phew!
Great All Around Book!
To sum this book up in one sentence - I want to live in it.
Yes, I want to live in this book, in the town they live in. This book gave me such great feels all around. The story flowed flawlessly especially for such a quick read. The writer left no corners unturned and definitely left room for more.
The heroine in this book was a genuinely good person who wasn't too feisty yet wasn't someone you could walk over either. She is someone I'd totally hangout with if she was real. Other than the "the surprise" she finds in the kitchen (hahaha!) I want to live in her house, in her town, and have her neighbors.
“I am not afraid of your bad luck,” he said. “The only thing I’m afraid of is not being around to catch you when you fall.” “Then I guess you should stick around for a while,” she said, wrapping her arms around his waist.
This book is not complicated at all, it's just THAT good. I don't want to get into detail because I don't like to write my reviews that way. I will say - it's so worth buying and devouring! I devoured it in 1 sitting!
I will be looking forward to the next edition of this series - this is the first book.
Phoebe Page returns to her home town after her sisters death. Promising herself that she is going to start living carefree and live in the moment. That's is when her child hood crush walks back into her life. Colton Brody, hot, muscled and an ex marine. With the possibility of Colton reenlisting there is only one thing Phoebe wants to do. Have a hot, no strings attached fling. But what happens when one wants more then just the fling?
What I liked most about this story is that is was very real. The characters were easy to relate to, and their "relationship" was realistic in every sense of what a fling is. But like most realities one person tends to develop more feelings for the other one. This story was no exception.
Whats not to love about a hot, muscled marine and where can I find one? Yeah..I would love me a hot marine.
This book is the perfect mix of funny, sexy, and sweet! There are so many laugh out loud moments between Phoebe locking herself out of her house, turkey bowling and the coffin races, it will leave you with tears in your eyes!
I really loved reading about a hero who wasn't physically perfect. Colton was a Marine, he has scars and injuries because of that but the author embraced those. That just make him an even better hero. Phoebe was hard not to love. I don't know how a girl could have so much bad luck. It followed her around like a shadow! That just made for some pretty funny moments.
This was a fantastic feel good book. It's light-hearted with lovable characters. This isn't the type of books that is full of drama and angst. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Off to a decent start, but then it was the same insta-love-y feel as the previous book, only this time the dude was a supposed playboy so it came out of the blue. I just don't think this author is for me.
Colton Brody is working to get back into the Marines after a major injury. Firefighting in his hometown keeps him active and in shape, but it is not his longterm dream. When he learns he could have the chance to go back to active duty, his goals focus once again. But he doesn’t plan on running into his little sister’s best friend in the short time he is back in Lover’s Leap, Colorado.
Phoebe Page had never planned to return to her hometown. But her sister’s death hit her hard, and now she plans to run the shop her sister loved and find her place at home again. She had planned to stay away from her best friend’s brother, the boy (now man) whom she had always had a crush on, but that quickly becomes difficult, especially since he always seems to be in the right place at the right time.
She knows he won’t be in town long, so what could a short term fling hurt in the long run?
A cantankerous old house, a matchmaking best friend, a nosy old lady, dirty book club, and coffin race preparation all collide to make this a humorous, entertaining read.
These two were a lot of fun to watch. Neither is quite sure what they want out of the relationship at first, and even as things start to heat up, they can’t agree on where things will end when it’s time for Colton to leave town.
I loved all the smalltown touches. Jessie Evans does a fantastic job of creating a small town atmosphere full of community, fun, and tradition, whether it’s in Texas and full of cowboys, or in Colorado full of tourists and snow games. The various events surrounding the town’s holiday festival made for a great backdrop for this funny tale. Everything about the festival screamed quirky small town, and made me miss the small town where I grew up (though none of those festivals were quite so colorful).
There were times when little details caught me up. Things that felt repetitive, or like I’ve seen them elsewhere. But as a whole this book had me laughing and grinning for much of the time. It was funny in an entertaining way. It never crossed the humor line into crass, keeping the humor based on situation comedy and physical bloopers. Phoebe was incredibly accident prone, but she was lucky that Colt was often there to catch her before things got ugly. A few moments had me rolling my eyes, but the laughter far outweighed the eye rolling.
This was a nice intro to the other Brody brothers. Colton is the only one who had never had his heart broken, and from the sounds of it, the other brothers have their own stories to tell. This series promises to be filled with laughs and men with healing hearts. I can’t wait to see who catches the eye of the other Brody brothers.
