This is book 3 of The DEBT: a 4-part novella series based on Cowboy, ex-soldier, Matt Stone.
Matt Stone rode into Markleeville one hot dusk, with a wind at his back that promised summer thunder. He was tall and lean, with a narrow, clean-shaven face above the collar of his oilskin duster. His eyes were a hard pale blue, like chips of ice, and his black hair was long like an Apache's and held back with a strip of leather. The coat was open, revealing a buckskin vest and the pair of silver Colts at his hips. He rode a huge, sleek black horse with a bullet scar showing in white hairs across one flank. Its name was Lucky. That horse had carried him through Gettysburg alive, and then taken him west, where he'd spent three years wandering, trying to get the echoes of battle out of his head.
He managed to escape death in Gettysburg and just when he begins to believe he has something good with Anne, destiny takes a shot and sends everything spinning out of control.

I have submitted this review after listening to the audio book of this title. (Audible.com)
The end result of the last episode was for the law to be called in. Although it may not be modern-day crime investigations, a man that had had enough experience and been in gun fights themselves could nut out what may have gone down at a fight site. Thankfully. the Reno sheriff appeared to be such a man.
This was a good book. Great resolution to what happened in Reno from before the first novella as well as resolution to the end of the last novella. It will be interesting to see what the last novella holds. I do believe that so far this could have been put into one book and been an actual novel.
In this they deal with the aftermath of part two. The reason Matt was hiding catches up with him. There is funny part with Joe and the girl he fancies. Another great listen.
Reviewed on behalf of 2 girls who love books blog So this was part 3 of 4 of the debt series and I’m pleased to say the story continues to flow well although some things are now getting slightly repetitive however the plot and story line remains enjoyable and is still action packed. In this story we see the outcome of the fallout from the previous part but will it be happy endings all round? The characters continue to keep showing bits of themselves and I can’t wait to finish the last part of this book to find out what happens to them all and if it will be HEA. There are yet more new characters in the book which are introduced in healthy doses. The author has again shown compassion and has sensitively dealt with issues I’m sure lots of military personnel go through. Anne has remained the strong character throughout the series and I’m excited to see where things lead. I rate this story 4 stars
In this second book of the series, Matt is still at Anne's ranch. Anne is in town talking to May, the barmaid and her friend when she sees someone get off the stage in a brown suit with gold rings. Instantly not liking the look of things, as soon as she's done with what she needs to do, she heads back to the ranch. That night, she asks Matt to stay in the main house with her, not feeling safe. The gunslinger, whom is known to Matt, starts shooting up the house. Once Matt has dispatched him, Dade shoots him and runs off with everything, including Miss Anne. What happens to Matt? Where did Lucky go? What does Dade plan to do? What does his brother Joey think about all this? Is Carter, the gunslinger dead? Is Matt Dead? Read and find out what happens!

This is the 3rd book in the series. I enjoyed the book but I will agree with others in saying that it was repetitive and sometimes confusing. Overall, it was a great book.
A new person in town? Good guy or bad guy? A traumatizing event happens at the ranch that brings uncertainty between them two.
I love seeing the love they share between them two. This book is really good. Anne is the lead character in this book. She does a terrific job showing how strong a woman she is. And that she can get through anything that is thrown at her.
I would definitely recommend this book to other readers.
Part 3 of The Debt series. I am liking the series so far, this part was a little confusing for me, seemed a little rushed and all over the place. However, I am enjoying the chemistry and devotion the characters have.
