“I get asked a lot about good books to buy. This book inspires me and I think it will inspire you too.
It is an overused term but John Stevens is a true modern master of letterforms. He is the real deal. One of the most striking things about his work is his versatility. He has a virtuosity with brush and pen that is extremely rare. Like all the best lettering artists his work is informed by history but not constrained by it. I would like more people to know about John Stevens and his work.”—Seb Lester, is a London-based type designer, typographic illustrator and artist. Lester is notable for prominent type designs, book cover designs and calligraphic prints.

This is a large, beautifully produced book full of color pictures of John Stevens's work, along with his thoughts about calligraphy. John is one of the best calligraphers of all time and is also a successful graphic designer. He offers philosophical reflections on the art of calligraphy as well as real-life insights into his commercial work. This book is thoughtful, down-to-earth, and fantastically beautiful.
